We keep returning to this reliable, long time restaurant in Grapevine. The atmosphere is pleasant, the waiters helpful and experienced, and the food is always good. Bringing your own wine or alcoholic drinks helps the bottom line, though the prices are reasonable. My eggplant parmesan recently was as good as I have enjoyed anywhere recently, with plenty to take home. If I could change anything, it would be to have slightly larger tables but then not so many of us could enjoy the almost always filled restaurant. read more

DO NOT COME HERE ON VALENTINES DAY! I've been here many, many times as this is one of my favorites. We got there early had 5:30 reservations but wanted to enjoy our wine before we ordered. The tables were 6 inches apart so when other people arrived, I was elbow to elbow with a stranger. Not romantic at all! The waiter kept rushing us to order and we kept telling him we arrived early to drink wine. The fixed menu did not include favorites and the food was not even edible. When the waiter asked how everything was I said, not great and he said ok, then walked away. Another manager came by and we told her about the pasta being mush so she made it right with a great dessert. Just the fact that they crowded us, rushed us and didn't let us order what we wanted this was not worth it at all! Never again! read more

Went here for the first time tonight, although we have been to the other location a few times. We wanted to check this one out and see which we preferred. I can't say that I prefer one over the other; they are both good. I might give the edge to the Northwest Highway location because it's a bit more cozy. Then again this location has outdoor seating. The bread is delicious and the free bruschetta appetizer was good and a nice touch. Salad was fine; I am not a big salad eater but I did like their house dressing (tomato basil vinaigrette). They are BYOB, but we did bring any wine on this visit. My chicken cacciatore was good but not as good as what I have had at Amores; the sauce could be thicker and it could have more veggies. My husband got the spaghetti which was a very generous portion and very tasty, or so he said. Prices are a little high, but with the portion sizes you could easily get two meals out of most items. Overall definitely a place we'd return to. I'd like to come in winter when I'm craving comfort food and try their baked pastas - the lobster ravioli looked excellent. read more

Place is nice, cozy, and intimate with dark ambience. Service is good and it's family owned. Food is ok, the Veal Genoese was delicious, but the Veal Rossini, Calamari, and Mozzarella sticks were average! Also they don't have kids menu but they can make adult meals in kids portions. The place don't sell wine or alcohol even though it doesn't say that on their Yelp page. The locals seemed to know and they brought their own, but for us we we surprised. They need to state that somewhere clear in their Yelp page. read more

So this year is coming to a close, thankfully. A year full of turmoil, death, and despair. A sad year for many and to those, my heart goes out. Intro: We decide to stay one night at the Gaylord Texan. A last hoorah, if you will, After a night of Gaylord festivities, we decided we would make a trip over to Cafe Italia in Grapevine, Texas. A quick tip: Make a reservation if possible; weekends and special occasions can be quite busy. Also, note there are two locations in Grapevine; make sure you make a reservation at the location you plan to eat at. The restaurant looks quite unassuming-a with red Italian Bistro awning hovering over each window; a seemingly square building with the name in neon block lettering above the entrance. Ambiance: A romantic, dimly lit intimate setting with tables situated fairly close together. Italian scores playing softly in the background. A score for the gentleman. Even if you are a George McFly or Kipland Ronald Dynamite, this restaurant is fairly certain to earn some points in the culinary hall-of-fame. Romance is not dead. Gentleman, pay attention. Pull out your date's chair, unwrap her napkin and place it in her lap, put your phone away and look deep into her eyes. If it is cold outside, help her take off her coat and place it on her chair. After dinner, help her put her coat back on. Chivarly is a thing! Spirits: Cafe Italia is a bring-your-own wine establishment. Bring your own wine. If you forget or are ill-prepared, there is a CVS less than a mile down the road. For quick-access, you can grab a bottle there, but there is a limited supply. Don't expect anything more than $20 can buy. Waitstaff: Very professional and attentive. Our Italian-accented waiter opened our bottle of wine and poured a glass. Our dishes were delivered to our table at a comfortable pace. Food: For starters, the bread is AMAZING! Imagine a cloud in the form of bread with butter on top. Super delicious. Pace yourself. Appetizers- I would recommend the stuffed mushroom; they are swimming in a creamy red wine sauce that is sensational. Once the mushrooms are gone, you can dip the bread in the sauce. Oh! Yum! The mozzarella sticks are tasty as well, especially if you are 10 years-old. Our 10-year-old stretched them out like shoestrings of cheese parade guided toward his mouth. We both split the Chicken Arrabbiata and the Seafood Combo. Lastly, we had cheesecake to go; a midnight snack. Price: Our meal with appetizer, dessert, and four entrees was around $125. Not bad in my opinion for the quality of the food, atmosphere, and experience. With so many tasty restaurants in the world, we are always reluctant to pass up an opportunity to try something new. love the ambiance of this place. my hubby and I came here for dinner on date night and it was great. Since it was our first time, we were not aware it was BYOB, so we had to stick with coke. They bring bread and butter to the table and it's huge so we did not order any appetizers. We both had Italian dressing on the side salads that came with our meals. I was kinda iffy at first because it was so thick, but it was delicious. For dinner, I had lasagna and my husband had one of their specials for the night. It consisted of salmon pesto with rice, broccoli, and some spaghetti on the side. We both enjoyed our meals, and the quick and friendly service. however, it is a pretty small place and it was busy for a Friday night, so there was no social distancing. This is the only reason I am deducting one star. I would definitely love to go back, with our own drinks, once it feels safer to be in such a small place with many people. read more

We just moved to Texas and everytime I drive by this place it is just packed. Full of cars so I'm assuming the same about people. My partner and I take Covid seriously and will go out if social distancing is enforced. Sadly this is why I had to take one star off here. It is not. We get there and it's busy. We decide to give it a try not really seeing how busy and spaced out the tables inside. We get told a 15 minute wait which is more like a 45 minute wait but we are not mad about this. We are easy going and assume it's because of the social distancing aspect. We finally get seated next to two very large groups of 10 or more. It's fine true tables are spaced out and its fine. Only thing was it was super loud in this small room with so many people to a group. Again all is well and we can tolerate it. The server was AMAZING having to work the large groups plus us. 10/10! Finally our order is taken, hubby got lasagna and I the lobster ravioli. Lasagna was amazing ravioli was good. Still both of us were satisfied. Finally the larger group next to us leaves. They break up the tables into two groups, one four top and a six top. The six top is next to us and the four top is on the other side. They seat the four top and I start getting nervous. These tables were VERY close together. The 6 top next to us was so close we could touch the people sitting there. I figured they would leave that table open. NOPE! They sat a group of six. I instantly became uncomfortable now realizing we should have not ate here in person. We ended up taking the rest of our food to go. I am sad that they are not at all abiding by distancing measures but if you are okay with that the food was great. It will be a long time before we head back to them. I hate docking a star for something like social distancing but it really soured our experience. read more

We walked in AT closing begging for a table for our family of six, after a long and exhausting day at the Gaylord. The young lady at the front was nothing but welcoming, and let us come in even though the kitchen was closing. The bread was to die for and I'm super picky about bread. They were so kind to us and treated us as if we walked in at 5pm. Came here today for a business lunch, so no pics today, but trust me I will be back and take pictures. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly and seated immediately, impressive for a place this good and at noon on Friday. The service was spot on, amazing actually especially for a restaurant of this level and price point, and by that I mean a restaurant this affordable. They had the service of an expensive high-class place, at a price point that matches most pocket books. For under $10.00, I got an amazing Chicken Piccata, Salad, Side Pasta (Spaghetti), and Bread. It was all delicious and the Chicken Piccata was as good or better than dishes I have paid two and a half times that for. If you have not, check them out they are really really good! First of all, WOW. This place is a hidden gem. you go in and are seated pretty quickly (Though i would recommend a reservation, it can be pretty hit or miss.) We sat down and were given bread, which we munched on while looking at the menu. The food was delicious. We shared the Fried Calamari, which was cooked perfectly. I had the Cheese Ravioli, which was so delicious, because the cheese was mixed with breadcrumbs, resulting in a mix if textures. for desert, we tried the cheesecake (not to sweet, not to bitter), the chocolate cake (delicious), and the tiramisu (so freaking good). all in all, this place has great service, delicious food, and all for a good price. 10 out of 10 would go again. read more

I choose Cafe Italia every time I want to dine out. The menu has a large array of food item you can choose from. I even order and take out the food is so good. Never ever disappoint even one time. And I go there a lot. And for many years. The chef is great. The staff is great. The atmosphere is great. If you ever go, you will be back. This place was rated best food in Texas. You must try it. Had a very rare date night and we were in the area so we decided to stop by on a Thursday night. Seemed mostly patronized by an older crowd. My husband was impressed they thought to put the butter under the bread loaf we were served as a starter (so it would be nice and soft) and even claimed the bread was in the shape of Italy! Haha! He ordered the Manicotti ($14) and I the Shrimp Scampi ($20). Neither were anything to write home about and neither of us finished our meals or took home leftovers. The scampi is not worth $20, pretty bland, sauce isn't thick enough to stick to anything. Both entrees did come with a salad with several dressing options, which was nice. The service was good though, friendly and quick with refills and food delivery. All in all not a bad place, just not our taste for the price. read more

Excellent Italian food. My go to dish is the Chicken Genovez but all their sauces are amazing. Anything with the Vodka sauce is delicious. Their bread is so good to dip in any sauce.
