I got the Sallie's shrimp salad sandwich on white toast and this sandwich is one of THE most delicious shrimp salads I've had in Maryland, if not the BEST!! Tops some other local lunch spots in the area - HANDS DOWN!! Stuffed with shrimp, sauce is delicious and flavorful - just so so good!! I will be back for this again! I used to love Cafe Joe, but nowadays it seems they never get my order right. The person who takes my order, even repeats my requests - so, I don't get it; and I find this frustrating. Hots on the side, he says "no problem." Extra lettuce, tomato and onion - he repeats that. No mayo, he says "got it." This is what I received - no hots, mayo, one wilty lettuce leaf, the thinnest tomato slice and scant onion, triple meat. Ugh!! read more

Cafe Joe is a great place to go for a breakfast sandwich or to come on your work lunch break. In fact it caters so much to the working people around the area it is not open for dinner time or open on the weekend. They have quite a selection of sandwiches, wraps, and salads and have a fridge full of all different drinks to choose from. I got their turkey avocado wrap and really enjoyed it. We were served our food very quickly and there is plenty of room around the restaurant to sit. read more

I picked up lunch for two here last week. One tuna melt, one hot roast beef sandwich, one potato salad. It was ready on time and pick-up was quick. Busy place, order ahead if you are short on time! The tuna melt was super. The hot roast beef was good. The potato salad was a bit bland but the size was generous. They added a brownie in by mistake and I split it with my friend. A friend chose this place for us to meet because it's halfway between our homes - she had also never been here. There seem to be a lot of negative reviews, but I can only describe my experience as very pleasant. For info, we came during non-commute or business lunch times, which may account for a slightly better experience. There was only one other patron when I walked in. This restaurant is large, with ample seating and the tables aren't packed together. The restroom was very clean, as was everything else I saw. They have a large array of pastries, and I chose a pre-wrapped slice of poppy seed loaf and a medium coffee. My total was under $5. There were two choices for decaf, and four for caffeinated, so I mixed my own half-caff that was really tasty. The poppy seed slice was moist and yummy. My friend ordered a breakfast sandwich, which took a few minutes to cook because it was prepared fresh. She chose sausage, egg and cheese on English muffin, and pronounced it "pretty good". The staff members were extremely pleasant and friendly. All in all, this is a place I will readily return to if I'm in the area. read more

Located in Annapolis Junction, this little gem has been my saving grace on days I have forgotten my lunch or stayed at work longer than I desired and it was time to feed me again. I really like their corned beef sandwiches and my co-workers get the wraps. They always have an assortment of fresh fruit (whole or cut up) and there's hot beverages and a cooler with an array of soft drinks and juices. The ladies that work here are jovial and always smile when they greet you and take your order. That goes a long way for customer service. I have been good to go with the items I purchased for breakfast or lunch. This location typically hosts seminars for those recruiting for jobs, game night and various other events. They are definitely putting their real estate to work for them. Plenty of parking and nice clean dining areas here. read more

The lady who was making my sandwich was extremely rude to the elderly gentleman operating the cash register. She was literally screaming at him nearly the entire time I was there! :( I felt so bad for him, he seemed very nice. The whole situation made me extremely uncomfortable... Cafe Joe is one of the few lunch options located in the area, and let me tell you, it's a blessing in disguise! Options are plentiful, ranging from a variety of soups, sandwiches, and wraps. They have fruit cups, yogurt, soft drinks, coffee, chips, snacks, you name it. I went with the grilled chicken wrap with bacon and southwest sauce almost daily, varying my soups each day (chicken dumpling, broccoli cheddar, and clam chowder). Anyone who works in the area, or has for some time, will know this-for quite a while, Cafe Joe was all there was. Something quick, something close, it was pretty much your only lunch option. With the openings of Bon Fresco and Subway, I am happy with more choices. Here is why: Cafe Joe is consistently filled with rude staff, and the food is not worth it. I can personally attest that two coworkers, who went one time, refuse to set foot in the establishment again after the way they were treated. I've also found from the times I've been there, the food is overpriced for the quality. Several times, I've wondered if I was even being charged correctly, because it seemed like the cashier was making up numbers. On two different occasions I got charged different amounts for the same meal. However, the last visit was the final nail in Cafe Joe's coffin for me. We had ordered carryout, and I ordered a turkey wrap. I guess you can say I got some extra protein with my order, because they never removed the paper from the lunch meat. Cafe Joe is located right outside the NSA and basically a 2 minute drive from my work. I first discovered this place when a co-worker suggested we eat here. She was taking a late lunch, and since I wasn't busy that day, I tagged along. I had already ate, so I just watched her eat the heaping mound of tuna melt she ordered. It looked sooo good. I vowed I would go back and try the place. Next time I went back, I stared at the menu for a good 5 minutes not knowing what to get. There were quite a few choices. But, I settled on the Chunky Chicken Bacon Melt and a cup of crab soup. SOOOOO GOOD. The chicken salad was just the way I like it (no raisins or nuts). And the crab soup was a little spicy and not too creamy. Tastes very generic, but was good. This is one of the only two delis that I actually really enjoy! The food is good and the price is reasonable. If I'm looking to "go out" for lunch, I normally hit up a restaurant in Columbia. But when you're in need of something quick and close by, then Cafe Joe will do you just fine. read more

I went in for breakfast for an BLT and was shocked when they pulled the eggs out of a bag...I was not prepared!! There is no stove so everything microwaved. The staff is the major pitfall of this place. They are rude, act annoyed that you are there and rush you to order quickly. It's a sandwich bar. You wait in line, place your order at the bar, get your food, pay, and go sit down. The prices are pretty good; the food: flavorful. What they can work on though, is their service and organization. At the beginning of the bar there is some sushi, then a salad station whose attendant takes your order, then the sandwich station. What doesn't work so well is that the attendant has to yell down the bar to the line for the "next two," as our sandwich-maker yelled to us. First off, that's just gotta get tiring. Yelling "next two" for hours on end. Secondly, could you be any less personal? I'm sorry that I am just a cow you would like to herd. The least they could do is put a smile on. Anyway, like I said already, the food is good. If I'm ever in the area I'll come back for a Reuben or one of their daily specials. They're just not special enough to make a long trek to. read more

Needless to say, I am here for work and all I know was that this menu was passed to me and I wasn't paying for lunch. So, I ordered the soup of the day and a smoked turkey sandwich. The sandwich lacked umph. The turkey and the bread was fresh, but that is pretty much the highlight of the sandwich. The soup was definitely not home made and had very little flavor. In my personal opinion, it's far too expensive for what it is and the salads aren't really that great. Some of the staff aren't very friendly and they rush through orders. If you are near the National Business Parkway this seems to be one of your very few food choices other than the food trucks or going all the way in one direction or the other on 175. That being said you could do a lot worse. At first it might seem like the staff is cranky but it depends on the day. If you come in enough the ladies will joke with you even on a bad day and are attentive and friendly. The food is really good and is avg price. Mostly sandwiches/wraps and soup with usually some tasty specials. When watermelon season is in they have some of the biggest juciest pieces you will ever get from a sandwich shop and the real secret is the Reeses chocolate brownie. The staff is usually pretty nice but they can get a little hard to deal with when there is a lot of people. They always ask if you want a pickle with your food which is nice for people who like pickles. The food is a bit pricey and the reason I would rather go somewhere else.
