This place is awesome! The service is great and the food is top notch. I have been there twice and both times got the Chicken and Shrimp Alexandra (both times were excellent). My wife had the Rigatoni Arcobaleno, and it was very good as well. I started the meal with the crab bisque, and it was really good. My wife started with the Insalata Lombardi, which was a good house salad. I also had the Calamari all Veneziana, which is good if you like calamari that isn't fried. Also, it is BYOB, which is good to know so that you can bring a bottle of wine to go with the food. The place looks like a hole in the wall, but if you are in the Horsham area, then you need to stop in. Ate at this restaurant at the request and recommendation of a family member who is a regular. The food was very delicious. My mother, who has never particularly enjoyed Italian food loved this place. I had the chicken parm and was blown away--I forgot how good it can be! The chicken was beautifully crisp and the inside was moist. The sauce wasn't too sweet (as too many places sometimes make it) and the chicken wasn't drowning in it. Spaghetti cooked nicely. The proportions are quite fair, you will leave full, but not with a lot of leftovers. Another person ordered the Pescatore alla Giella, said it was delicious as well, especially the sauce. Met with a customer here today and was pleasantly surprised! My customer ordered Chicken Piccata over ziti pasta and I had broil grouper over a Caesar Salad. Both dishes were delicious and the bread was to die for. The Grouper was perfectly cooked and the Caesar salad dressing was wonderful. Creamy with hints of parmesan cheese and garlic topped with fresh and crunchy croutons. My customer said the pasta was cooked to perfection, chicken moist and delicious with just the right amount of lemon and garlic. We ended the meal with an espresso that was brewed to perfection! We've never been disappointed, but do need to caution the noise level can get pretty high when the place is filled with families enjoying their evening. I went to Cafe Lombardi's with my boyfriend for a date night before we saw a movie close-by. I love BYOBs, so when I saw there was an Italian BYOB near my boyfriend's house, I had to try it. When we walked up to the door, we saw that there were silhouettes of people painted on the outside wall of the restaurant which I thought was a little weird. The inside of the restaurant wasn't much fancier. There were red and white checkered table cloths on each table and the waiters and waitresses wore all black outfits with black baseball hats that said Cafe Lombardi's. We have the mussels in red sauce for an appetizer. I liked them, but my boyfriend said he didn't. He's a big fan of clams so I think he would have rather had clams in red than mussels, but that wasn't offered on the menu. Then I had the Chicken and Shrimp Alexandra as I am a sucker for seafood and pasta (especially in a rose sauce) and he had the chicken with crab meat over pasta special of the day. When the dinners came out, they didn't look like there was any chicken in them, but as you dug around a little through your pasta, you found 2 chicken cutlets hidden underneath. I thought it was kind of a strange presentation, but it tasted good enough. In the end, Cafe Lombardi's isn't my favorite Italian BYOB, (most likely because I've been so spoiled with Philly's fabulous BYOB scene) but I can't say I wouldn't consider coming back, as the price is reasonable and the menu is substantial. read more

Calimari appetizer was terrific, table had 2 chicken and a Veal dish that were all great as well. Prices are par for the course with other local italian places. The space itself needs some work. Table coverings are hideous and chairs are uncomfortable. Yes the place is small, but thats not gripe worthy. Our server tended to disappear to long stretches leaving us with empty glasses and a pile of app plates/bread baskets. For me, Lombardi's isn't an inviting place to take my time or loiter after a meal with a glass of wine. Great little place. It's the kind of place that can become "your place" -- that out of the way place that you fall back on. There seem to be a lot of regulars. It's very casual, very noisey, crowded, and very friendly. Good selection of Italian dishes, decent specials, good service. We've been there with a crowd -- try 6 visiting Mexicans -- as well as just the 2 of us. It is almost aways my DH's place of choice when we want to do out for dinner on the spur of the moment. Parking can be a challenge. Hearing your dinner partner's convesation can be a challenge. Getting a good meal is NOT a challenge. read more

This was a great little Italian BYOB that is kind of hidden (or at least as hidden as it can be on Horsham Road). They were nice enough to fit us in as a party of 10 while they had a Rehearsal dinner there and the rehearsal dinner had to be around 40 or 50 people. Lucky for us we got in right before they put in their orders so the food came out very quickly. We got the bruschetta and caprese salad and my goodness they were great and the portion size was pretty good. Then dinner and I got the pesto and cheese stuffed ravioli which were so good. I have to say that the meal didn't take longer than around 20 minutes of ordering to our main dishes to get their. We had been to Cafe Lombardi's for a wedding party and remembered it as really good. Lydia and I had been working on recording her piano improvisations and other Christmas preparations, and we decided to get a really nice dinner. We recalled a good experience from the wedding party, and went back. Lydia had the spaghetti and meatballs, and I tried a dish with salmon, shrimp and pasta. Wish I could remember the exact names of the entrees - I think they were on the House Specialties menu. The food was absolutely excellent! Certainly up there with the best Italian food I've ever experienced. And the prices are really quite reasonable. We sent compliments to the folks in the kitchen! Our waitress Kim was great - offering a personal recommendation for dessert choice. She really cares about helping folks. When we got the check, I used a credit card that is pretty dark in color. It blended in with the little (also dark) folder-gadget and I accidentally gave it back when we were leaving. Kim to the rescue... she kindly saved me a trip back in search of a lost Visa card. I ordered a mint mousse dessert that came out FROZEN SOLID! I brought it to the waitresses attention who then rudely said "I'll microwave it" now anyone with a brain cell knows your don't microwave mousse. Passed this restaurant for years and we finally meet my son and his family. First it's very loud in there. It's a small restaurant and it was packed. Chairs have to move to get to most of the tables. With that said I really had a great time there. People were very friendly. First they brought the bread. It was better than average. I had the Caesar salad and it was delicious!! My boyfriend hated his chicken marsala. And the desserts were pretty fantabulous. Our waitress would also talk to us from halfway across the restaurant and not acknowledge that she heard us when we responded. I know its a small place, but come on. I also thought the menu was a little seafood-heavy, and it could use to be expanded. Overall, I would go here again if I wanted to go to a cheap italian BYO not in the city. I went here for the first time for a family party. I have always heard good things and was looking forward to going. From the outside the cafe looks small but I was surprised how much room was inside . Our party was over 30 people and we had plenty of room. Since it was a party, we were given choices for our entrees. My wife had the chicken parmigiana and I had the shrimp and scallops. Both were delicious along with the salads and bread. I love the food at Cafe Lombardi's and have eaten there numerous times. I just ordered from them for catering for 25 people this weekend. With everything going on with coronavirus and getting catering for the first time, I wasn't sure if their food would be at the same quality. The food was AMAZING! Who knew such delicious food was hiding in the land of mediocrity, i.e. the suburbs! My boyfriend and I enjoyed a fabulous meal here recently and are already planning our return trip. I'm a firm believer that the best Italian food comes from the most unassuming of establishments, which is proved here. One of the best pasta dishes I've ordered out, which is saying something since I'm Italian and my dad makes the best Italian food ever. The lobster was on point. The waitress said this is the most popular dish and I can certainly see why. Café Lombardis is a great family restaurant. We go here with our children quite often. They have traditional Italian dishes and on the weekends steaks and seafood. We have tried almost everything on the menu and they are all delicious! My favorites are the Rigatoni Arcobaleno and the Chicken Parmigiana and my husband gets the Seafood Lombardi. I purchased a groupon for Cafe Lombardi's after reading some glowing reviews. I brought a small cooler of cold beer for me and the Mrs. We were greeted by a very friendly staff who were kind and welcoming. We sat at a table for two and took out a couple bottles. The friendly, cordial young waitresses went away and then we had a veteran waitress who's manners retired well before she intends on retiring. We were never asked if we wanted glasses for the beer and luckily we brought an opener. The waitress didn't offer or bring water glasses. My woman asked for a waters, the waitress brought one...for her. I ordered the Hot Sausage special ($20) which was a cooked very spicy and delicious sausage, red peppers, scallops, and shrimp with rose sauce served over pasta. I inquired which pasta it was served over, and the waitress curtly said "the chef chooses". I had no problem with that, but it would have been nice if she knew the pasta and could convey that information. My woman ordered the Seafood Lombardi special. Hers had lobster tail, scallops, shrimp and mussels. Again...the chef chooses the pasta. If you are wondering which pasta it is and you get the elder waitress, she won't tell you so my service to you is this...the chef chooses spaghetti for both dishes. My dish was delicious. The sausage was amazing and the seafood was cooked perfectly. My woman said the mussels were overcooked, but the rest of the entree was great. About 3/4 of the way through my entree, I found what looked like a segment of a plastic bag in my entree. It was about an inch long and didn't look melted. Granted, it wasn't appetizing, but it didn't make me choke and it didn't stop me from eating the rest of my meal, so I wasn't about to complain to management. But, the chef should be more careful during prep and plating. After the meal, the waitress came by with a check and before I could even mention I had a groupon, she split. Throughout the night, the waitress was absent, short, curt, or condescending. Really, if I can tolerate plastic in my entree, I am a tolerant guy. But, if I owned Cafe Lombardi's, I'd want to know that the senior waitress needs to work on her table-side etiquette. The rest of the staff was cordial and welcoming. I have been there at least 40 times over the past 3 years and the place just can't be beat. I saw a couple of one star reviews and I can't believe them. I have to laugh at some of the reviews here. Either suburbanites want this to be good because they don't want to drive into the city so they force themselves into liking it, or they just don't know better. It's probably the latter. Got the veal parm last night and it was on the same level as a TV dinner. Horrible. The veal is nothing more than a patty and the sauce tasted canned. (Probably is.) I had a rotten taste in my mouth the rest of the night. Try Ralph's in South Philly -- it's infinitely better. Not even close. The pizza was among the worst I've ever had, and that's saying a lot. It was like a Pizza Hut pan pizza, only worse. There was nothing good about it. The rotten sauce and flavorless crust ... ugh. Oh, and the bread they put on the table was no better than the loaves of white bread you buy from the supermarket. I have been to Cafe Lombardi's (BYO) a lot over the past year I have been working in Horsham: it is, without a doubt, my favorite place to eat in the North Suburbs. Located on the corner, this unassuming building has an entrance that will sneak up on you. It is a very small place, so if it is busy, expect to rub elbows with your neighbors. I believe the tablecloths are vinyl, so do not expect the most fancy surroundings. Personally, none of this bothers me: just thought it would be helpful to share. But we can be honest: you are here for the food, and it is quite delicious. The calamari is quite delicious: just enough breading and not chewy. The pasta primavera has tasty vegetables and a very rich cream sauce. I would personally recommend the Gnocchi Mama Lombardi: the dumplings are cooked to perfection and the tomato sauce is both light and filling. The service is always helpful, but don't expect them to be chatty or overly nice: that is just not their style. Prices are very reasonable: $10-$20 for an entree, with rotating specials. If they had a frequent diner card, I would most likely have one. read more
