Found this gem while out of town for business. Great food, service, price highly recommend. I had the chicken marsala and the best I have had in years .

The freezer burned, rubber band consistency, tasteless calamari. They should be embarrassed to serve this!

We had a bad experience at Taormina's tonight. The best things about the dinner were the bread and the complimentary peppers and onions they give you. The calamari appetizer looked anemic. It looked like it cane straight out of a box frozen, that you buy at the supermarket, and then leave in the freezer too long. It was rubbery to the point of being slightly crunchy and had no taste. They should be ashamed to serve this. Awful! My cavatelli and broccoli was edible because it had a garlicky sauce but the shrimp were undercooked so I didn't eat them. They were actually translucent. The rigatoni with vodka sauce was decent. Instead of the prosciutto being fresh in thin slices, it was hard, old tasting, little chunks. Yuck! The service was terrible too. We waited for the server to come back after our meals were delivered and he never did. I had to flag down the hostess to ask if they had coke. They had it only in bottles and I wanted a fountain soda. We asked for the check and were kept waiting for that. Then the waiter finally came back to the table and asked if we wanted coffee or dessert. I told him no we had already asked for the check. It wasn't even that busy in the restaurant. No salads come with the meals. We drank water. One terrible appetizer and two very mediocre dinners cost us $67! Low quality and high prices at this place now. It's gone way downhill. Skip it and go to one of the many other Italian restaurants in the area!

Good home cooked Italian meals. The portions are huge, so beware. My husband had their lasanga, and it was fresh and tasty. Tasted just like grandma's homemade version. I had the Veal David but asked for it in vodka sauce over penne pasta. It was also fresh and tasty and a very large portion. The service was great. Our waitress was friendly and attentive.

Delicious food and impressive menu! We visited after hearing wonderful reviews from friends. We were seated right away on a Sunday for lunch and put in our order quickly. The portions were generous and everything was delicious. Our only complaint was that service was a little slow, but we chalk it up to being an off day. I will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu!

Taormina's is in a small commercial center on Jacksonville Road, Ivyland, PA. It is a nicely appointed Italian house whose name as a pizza and pasta joint is somewhat misleading. It certainly has those items on the menu, but do yourself a favor and check out the dinner plates. We were very pleased with our meals, as well as the attractive atmosphere. Very glad we brought a bottle of vino to celebrate Valentine's Day, even if a day late. Romantic dinners are very much available. We ordered Veal Francaise and Eggplant Parmigiana, both of which were plated on top of a good amount of penne. The veal had a wonderful white wine/lemon sauce that was excellent on the pasta. The Eggplant was a large portion of pan fried thin sliced nightshade, ovened under copious melted mozzarella and resting under rich red gravy and atop plenty of penne. We loved both dishes. Service was attentive and came with a smile. If there was a shortcoming in this overall delicious experience, it was the Calamari Friti appetizer. They were all large rings of squid, without any tentacles to add texture and more flavor. Somewhat disappointing. Still, with the decent bread and plate of roasted red peppers provided gratis by the house, not to mention the mellowness from our own red vino, Taormina's was a great place for a date.

    Stuck to the box pizza

Called to pick up 2 slices for lunch. Was told 5 minutes. I get there and pay and the employee that took my order on the phone finally tells the cooks, "oh hey I need 2 slices" ... 12 minutes later I get my 2 slices. The employee said she was sorry because they had to make a new pie. Maybe next time you say that over the phone or when I pay. Also, it probably shouldn't look like this when you pick it up. Had to fork and knife this mess cause they were stuck to the box and sheet underneath so when I picked it out of the box, all the cheese fell off. This was bad.

From the street it has a really cool look and the inside leans into an industrial style with a great aesthetic. It's a comfortable space with a nice vibe. We ordered a couple of cocktails: a lemon drop and a Manhattan. Strategically we decided to split a Detroit-style pizza called the Iron Pig. Good call because one square was the perfect amount for dinner. And now we have a few meals to heat up for the next few days. The drinks were excellent and the pizza was outstanding. Great flavor. Our server Ally was welcoming and friendly and top notch on service. It is the middle of winter so we weren't considering outside dining, but they have a great outdoor space near the street. They don't have server tunnel vision, they work as a team and it shows! The vibes are so cool here. I mean, if you're gonna open a cafe next to a scrap yard, you have to lean in to the theming. I love the vibes, I love the appearance. The food is amazing top to bottom. First, their coffee drinks are always spot hitting, partly due to the fact that they roast their own coffee beans on site. The cocktail menu is always enticing an even though I'm not a huge drinker, I'll be working my way around this. The breakfast options are plenty and if you don't get their bacon you are missing out! The lunch sandwiches are served on a house made ciabatta style bread. Packed with fresh meats, cheeses and veggies. Every ingredient is perfectly seasoned and added delicately, not just items slapped on a roll. The Detroit pizza is what initially drew me in. While they have some options with more toppings, I'd say go for some of the more simple Detroit pies to really allow the famous crust to really shine through. My personal favorite so far is the white pie they do with roasted portobello mushrooms. I have only been for breakfast and lunch but with all the craft beer options I need to go back for dinner to sit and relax with some friends and family!

The people loved their lunch from New Village AND although of the10 pies ordered, 3 were (garden) vegetable, not one slice was left and people were upset that they didn't get any and that I didn't order more vegetable pizzas :) Many were amazed at how fresh and plump the vegetables were! I ordered at the desk and waited maybe 25 mins (not bad at all for ordering in the spot and with the place being busy). Pizza: we ordered the "Hot Honey" at $27. We attacked this thing within 2 minutes of coming out the oven. Incredible dough with depth and texture. Perfect balance of sweet (sauce/honey) and savory (pepperonis/grated parm). Topped with fresh basil and hot honey. I wished there was more hot honey but to each their own. Elite pizza!! I highly recommend Cheesesteak ($18): we ordered it with fried onions and Cooper Sharp. Delicious bread, I'm assuming it's home made and if it's not it's definitely high quality bread. Tender ribeye steak chopped and mixed beautifully with the cheese and onions. Meaty sandwich for sure. I prefer my cheesesteaks a bit more cheesier but I was a happy camper as was my wife. All in all, this joint is pumping out top tier "pizzeria food". This will be my post hike reward anytime I'm in the area. Dare I say Verona's goes toe to toe with Angelo's Pizzeria (highly regarded pizzeria) as best in the state! 5/5

They serve a delicious homemade bread that's warm when it's brought the table. In addition, it's accompanied by a dish of olive oil, with balsamic vinegar and what I believed to be a spicy dusting of pepper. It was a little too spicy for me - however, I did like the addition of the balsamic as a change from just olive oil. I would skip the pepper though, unless you like spice. We ordered the Polpette as an appetizer; it's a 'tradition' of mine. If meatballs are on the menu, I will always order them. These lamb, veal and beef meatballs were very good, and the marinara sauce they came in was excellent! The sauce is actually a 'roasted pomodoro' gravy - which is an 'intensified' version of a classic Italian sauce. It's made by roasting the tomatoes at a very high heat and almost caramelizing them. A little feta was added to the sauce, which really highlighted those meatballs!! We split the order - as 5 meatballs is quite a large appetizer! We decided to share two entrees - the Beef Short Ribs and the Lobster Ravioli. I always ask if the short ribs are lean - our server responded they were very lean...and they were. Soft, tender and very flavorful large chunks of beef, with a deliciously rich gravy with mushrooms on a bed a creamy garlic mashed potatoes! It was a superb dish! The website said the Short Ribs were the restaurant's most popular meal. Next, the Lobster Ravioli. The dish was a very 'delicate' one, with a very subtle brandy cream sauce. It had chopped jumbo shrimp and peeled cherry tomatoes with the raviolis. While the sauce tasted fine, it needed 'something' - we added pepper which helped. The raviolis were good - we couldn't taste lobster in the cheese of the raviolis - we assumed it was there. The chopped shrimps though provided a nice additional seafood flavor. I like my raviolis tender - the kind that almost melt in your mouth. The pasta here was firmer - a little more 'al dente', but it was fine. We ended our meal with the Chocolate Mousse. Served in a martini glass, the mousse had a velvety texture with a deep dark chocolate flavor. It was very rich yet light and fluffy; a good choice for dessert!

I had an egg and cheese and it was near perfect. There must have been 4 eggs in that sandwich--all cooked thin and folded. The white American cheese was perfectly melted. It's always a good sign to me when a place is nailing the basics. So, like my routine-loving child, I'm sure I'll be back! Also, we picked up the sandwiches, walked home, then ate them. If they lost any quality during that time, it was unnoticeable. They were still hot enough to need a few minutes to become an edible temperature.

Wanted to make sure I grabbed a legit cheese steak while I was in Philly but was pressed for time…read more We were stoked to find Silvio's so close to our customer meeting so we gave it a try. Typical sub shop... you walk in and order at the counter and are greeted with fresh baked bread sitting on shelves behind the register. Staff was friendly and made some solid recommendations while we scanned the menu. Ultimately went with the standard 12" cheese steak. It did take a little longer than I expected to get our food but it was super hot and fresh (so hot I burned by mouth but that's because I couldn't wait to dive in). Good balance of meat and cheese and the bread had a nice pull making it the perfect conduit for the cheese steak. There is no indoor seating so be prepared to take it with you or sit at one of the outside tables in front the ice cream shop. Was later told by the locals that this was a great spot so we made a good choice. If you in this area, make sure you hit up Silvio's!
