I loved the Japanese curry here. It is definitely more hearty and umami than the normal Coco Ichi curry. I love the chili condiment on the side where you can put in your curry and adjust the spicy level that you want. Definitely a small mom and pop shop tucked away in the corner of a plaza. Cafe Maji is one of the cutest spots in Artesia! That's saying a lot, btw, because there are many cute spots in Artesia. I've been going here since high school and since then until now the interior decor makes one feel like they just walked into their grandma's house - especially if your grandma is into collecting and crafts (': As for the drinks and the food, they are really good! There are so many options here, which is both good and bad for an indecisive gal like me. The last time I went, however, the drink was overly sweet and had way too much cinnamon. This experience + the steep prices are the only reason why I knocked off 1 star. Either way, you're sure to find something you like here! As for the SERVICE, it is absolutely wonderful! Cafe Maji is definitely a good place to unwind and grab a late night latte. This cafe is one of the only ones I know in the area that opens late and serves one of a kind drinks. The shop is run by a few, but what they put out is amazing. They make sure each drink looks perfect before serving it to you. I have heard the food is also good and I cannot wait to try that next time. There's a million pieces of paper plastered everywhere, I looked at the items on Yelp, I ordered a plain Americano and paid $7.25 on the picture menus (Yelp) it said 5.25 which is still too much, I drink Americano daily it's between $3.25- 4.95 at the most. I dropped by this place because I was ordering food next door and craved something warm on a cold night. I decided to try their Lavender Matcha Latte with oat milk. It was so creamy warm and comforting! I wanted to try their waffle desserts but I believe they make certain desserts on particular days, thus a warm drink sufficed. The place was like a computer cafe because it was packed with every table filled! And everyone had food and drinks ordered so this is definitely a popular spot with free wifi. My order came and the owner, he had the sweetest teddy bear personality he was just adorable and sweet. I wanted to come back to someone who honors his customers the way he did! I would come back because of his service. Keep in mind, he looks like he runs this place by himself, so be patient because despite the wait you might have, he puts in the work to please and serve as best as he can. And, the place was packed! Never wanted to give a one-star review of a place more than what's left of Cafe Maji. Mid to late 2010s this place was a vibrant study spot for students to come and do their homework/study for exams and not have to worry about how early they close. Now, the only thing that even resembles how nice Cafe Maji was are the various wooden chairs that used to exemplify their quirky design, rather than highlighting how tacky everything is. The tables are plentiful, but you can say the same thing in a hospital cafeteria. On either sides of the walls there are vertical rows of PLASTIC FOLD-UP TABLES and foldable chairs used for outdoor picnics and blood drives. Every table is staring directly into the next table, so if you're bored with what you have going on in your computer you can peek over someone's shoulder right in front of you and see who they're texting/what they're doing. Awful, awful ambience. The price. Whoever is pricing their drinks needs to take 50 steps across the street and order 2 drinks and 2 desserts from 7Leaves, since that was CHEAPER THAN TWO DRINKS. Getting a Thai Tea and a Mocha Latte, both mediums, rounded up to 18 DOLLARS. We paid 15 at the 7Leaves across the street and we even got food. Absolutely ludicrous and delirious of the owner of Cafe Maji that they price their drinks at 8.25 for a MEDIUM. Were the drinks worth the price? My iced thai tea came warm at the bottom, with the ice melting completely by the time I swirled everything around. And even then it was watered down and lukewarm. The Latte just tasted like pure syrup. Not worth 8.25. Not even worth 5 dollars. The menu is one of the most abysmally designed menus I've ever seen from a boutique coffee shop. Dozens of different flavors all packed in laminated printer paper, with barely any space to differentiate between everything. I felt overwhelmed looking at the menu since most of the flavors felt like they were overlapping each other, and typing it in single spaced makes ordering such a hassle. I had to bring the menu up to the counter to remember what I ordered since there were just too many options bunched up too close together. Shame on the menu designer. Did you fire the person who designed your other menu or did you not pay them enough for them to come back and update it? Overall, horrible experience and something that made me frustrated and sad at once was a nice coffee shop to work in. It is a shadow of its former self and either needs divine intervention or the owner going to business school. And their WiFi didn't work. Go to 7Leaves. read more

Simply a maji-cal cafe. I can always count on this cafe to provide the cutest latte art. My personal favorite was their banana latte! The banana flavor was so yummy, it felt like I was drinking a hot version of the korean banana milk with a hint of espresso. Cost: the lattes range from $5.00-$5.50. I also tried their tiramisu latte - this is served as iced only. If you love tiramisu flavor, this drink is so worth getting! I loved the little bear chocolate that came with it - so beary cute!! Cost: $7.00. Their food menu is also very extensive with pastas, waffles, paninis, burgers, and ddukbokki, but the bulgogi quesadilla is always my go-to. It looks pretty simple, but I absolutely love the bulgogi meat inside! Cost: $8.00. I was pretty sad that their location in Arcadia closed down, but this location is a lot bigger and the interior is more aesthetic. There's also free parking! Unfortunately, this is not the same Cafe Maji everyone knew and loved. I haven't been there in a year since covid, and I was shocked how much their food and drink quality dropped. If you look at the inspection result papers placed outside, the cafe has a B rating compared to the standard A rating for a clean and properly equipped kitchen. Their menu has drastically downsized and the interior is basically a white room with scattered tables and chairs. The panini sandwich was very poor with hard bread and with pesto that may have been spoiled since it was not stored properly/wasn't fresh since it was dry and a dark green color. read more

It's a nice and spacious cafe with a lot of seating and a pretty large drink menu. They also have desserts and small bites available. Service is pretty quick and attentive especially considering it's usually one guy working the place. He's awesome, polite and incredibly efficient by the way. The ambiance has been a little downhill. It used to be wooden tables and chairs but a lot of them have been replaced with folding tables and folding chairs. It's perfectly fine for studying and work which is what most people do there but less so for say a coffee date. Drinks use to come in ceramic mugs but are now all in a standard to go cup with a lid. My friend and went right when it opened, and we were welcomed with fast customer service and a peaceful, clean, and cute environment. It's very minimalistic and peaceful. I really enjoy the ambiance. Legitimately, the man/person was a one man job and did everything himself! he worked accordingly, and he brought out extra cream puffs, and water even though we didn't ask for it since the food was spicy! That was so kind! The food was also really good, fresh and delicious especially the brownie! I recommend that. It was very enjoyable. Will come here again, with the service's good attitude, good clean minimalistic environment w/anime and k-pop themes like small stuff here on the walls, and overall Pleasent vibes. Came to this place for the first time looking for somewhere to study. The area is huge so it didn't feel cramped even when it got busy. I came in at 6 when it was moderately busy but the place really fills up at 8-9PM. The food took a little while to come when I ordered at 10 but that's because it's just one guy in the front and one or two people in the kitchen making the food so I didn't mind the wait. The turkey pesto panini was so delicious, and it came with a salad. Perfectly crispy bread, meaty cheese, fresh tomato and lettuce! I usually don't like lemonade to much but the passionfruit lemonade had the perfect sour to sweet ratio. It was also very pretty but i forgot to take a photo before i mixed it . Overall the place has a super friendly atmosphere, and the dude at the front is nice. When I needed help with the wifi, he was super nice about it and checked up on me afterwards to make sure everything went well. Definitely gonna be coming back here. read more

I think it's a nice study spot and place to grab a $7 drink and spend a couple hours with your friends but I wouldn't go here for the ambiance. The place feels bare with relatively nothing on the walls. The tables and chairs are all mismatched and the location just doesn't feel cozy or welcoming. This place is also at risk of a fire hazard due to their power strip daisy chains (note that all of the the power strips power each other with only one connected to a true outlet). I think the drinks are subpar and everything is pretty overpriced but that makes sense if you're going to be spending a lot of time at the location. Be aware that no outside food or drinks are allowed, the owner is pretty strict with this. read more

It's a very cute cafe and I was so excited to go for all the cute bear drinks and burger that I saw in the pictures. Unfortunately they didn't have any of that and the food choices was very limited. A few things to say about this place- cafe maji has been here for a while but it has changed since being under new management. The current establishment is pretty nice- a large drink and food selection with many items being pretty good- but the ambiance of the place is very different from before and I have mixed feelings on it. I like that it's open pretty later than most coffee shops (open till 11 pm) and the music playing was very relaxing with cute decor. I think the tables were a little interesting with just plastic tables and ok chairs. But they also have a lot of those tables and charging stations so everyone can do work or be social. I really like the BBQ panini and the croffle (croissant waffle) as well as the lavender hot chocolate and lavender latte. The drinks themselves aren't as cute-looking compared to before, but it is only one person working the front area and he's a super nice guy! read more

I went to Cafe Maji on a Wednesday night around 7 and there was ample seating at the time. I was really shocked with how aesthetic and cute the cafe was!! Between three friends, we ordered the Bulgogi Quesadilla (made it a double for an additional $5), white truffle and Parmesan cheese fries, and a lavender lemonade. The bulgogi quesadilla was fine, nothing too special about it. It's tortilla with cheese and meat on the inside, so you know it'll at least be good. I found the meat to be a bit lackluster in flavor though because I couldn't really taste it. The lavender lemonade was fine too, but really was more for show since watching the cotton candy melt away after you poured on the syrup was the best part! The white truffle and Parmesan fries were the clear standout for me. They were seasoned and fried very well! Pretty yummy! My main qualm about this place is that I think most items are overpriced by about $1. However, the servers were really nice and attentive. Overall, I wanted to give this place 3 stars, but have decided on 4 because although I found the food to be nothing amazing, the service was great and this cafe is just oh so cute!! read more

This is a great little cafe. I found this place looking for a spot to study. This cafe has many tables that have outlets so it's very convenient. It seems to be managed by only one person so keep that in mind and be patient when you are putting in your order. The man is very kind, he saw that it was getting hot by the table I was at and he came to put boards up on the window and close the blinds to block out the sun. He also gave us extra fries when we ordered because it was feeding two people he said. Very nice atmosphere. It does get busy at night and closer to closing time, so it will get loud, keep that in mind if you plan on studying there. read more
