I've been here for more than 5+years and I am still so in love with this place. I always love coming by and ordering tteokbokki and my strawberry lemonade. Hands down, I love this place! The food is always delicious, the drinks are amazing, and the owner is sooo sweet. The vibe is cozy and welcoming every time I come in. If you're planning to study here, I definitely recommend it. There are a handful of tables and outlets, which makes it super convenient to get work done. The WiFi is pretty fast overall ! The only issue I've had is that my Canvas won't load here, so I usually use my hotspot to access it and submit assignments once I'm home. Free WiFi, lots of outlets and the owner is an absolute sweetheart. I've been here a few times for late night studying and it's become one of my go-to places. My favorite is the banana matcha and sometimes I'll get a hot tea to watch my lecture videos. The drinks aren't anything spectacular but the late night study environment really became a third space I had been needing or a while now. Owner is very nice and makes the place feel very personable. He always brings students an extra water for studying and sometimes a sweet treat. read more

I decided to grab a late coffee and checked Yelp to pick a spot at random. I walked in and found it fairly busy, but there was still plenty of open seating. The menu is a bit on the pricey side--about $12 for a quesadilla. I ordered a hot drink but received it cold; however, the owner kindly offered me some small cream puffs, which were really good. The space itself is comfortable, with plenty of outlets available for charging laptops or phones. I ended up staying for about two hours. They're open late (until midnight), and the owner was very friendly and welcoming. Overall, I'd come back again--but probably not for the quesadilla. read more

So I was craving Affogato and the pictures here looked so good. The location has plenty of free parking and inside is spaced out and almost like a cafeteria. Clean, no issues. Affogato - 8/10. The espresso was strong and bitter but the ice cream was a good offset. The espresso really packed a punch and boy did I have a surge of energy afterwards. Maybe a squeeze of salted caramel sauce would have made this a 10/10. Hubbys English Toffee (modified to have regular chocolate instead of white chocolate) was a 1/10 sadly. It was very bland and he usually likes every coffee drink. I will go again to try another drink. Not sure hubby will be along for the ride though. Service was good; no issues. read more

The foam was also thick, airy, and frothy and more characteristic of a superautomatic machine rather than the silky microfoam typically produced by a traditional steam wand and what you would expect in a latte. Was about to have dinner at the restaurant next door when I saw this place and remembered coming across it on yelp! After dinner we stopped by and tried the iced banana latte w oat milk & hibiscus lemonade. I thought my latte was perfect, you could taste the banana. You could taste the coffee & the creaminess. Ohh I used to have really fond memories when Cafe Maji was located in Arcadia, above the private gym. I used to do a lot of my studying there in my 20s and i LOVED their bulgogi quesadillas. Even as I'm updating this review right now, Yelp is showing me the photos I uploaded from over 10 years ago :'). Their new location in Artesia is super spacious and I can see it filling up once the school year starts again. I ordered a Hazelnut Iced Latte with whipped cream. My tastebuds have changed over the year and it's too sweet for me now but I still enjoyed it. I also ordered a tiramisu for takeout and it was SOO good. I've had this on my list to try for a while now, and it was not exactly what I thought it would be... The place has that heavy smell of oil, which was kind of uncomfortable to sit in, although there were plenty of people there who were studying and such. The menu is funny at best and confusing at worst. A big part of me wants to really, really, with all my heart, fix it for them. We ordered a brownie Sunday, and the brownies were kind of like the store bought ones. Ice cream was good. It was pretty large, but nothing to write home about. Artesia is one of those culinary areas that I need to spend more time in. There are a bunch of tasty treats along Artesia Blvd. Cafe Maji was a nice surprise with open space and a variety of caffeinated and non-caffeinated options. New owner...This used to be the spot. I came here numerous times in the past and was always greeted in a welcoming manner. The place in the past was cozy and had a variety of good food and teas. Unfortunately, I have to be transparent about where it is now. First the furniture is wild. Gone is warm feeling. I had a tea and proceeded to work here for a good while. I usually take a short break, get water, use the restroom before getting into more work and then order another drink. I stopped by to ask for a cup of water as I forgot my water thermos I usually take to places and I am met with rudeness. I was told I should be ordering a drink instead of asking for water. the worker here is so sweet and nice, he seems to be a one man show and is always quick & attentive i remember the last i came, it was really slow during summer season when not a lot of students are in there studying so we were the only customers after hours of opening.. he gave us (really good!) cream puffs for free which was so sweet. i'm so glad business is picking up again! it was pretty busy for a friday night when i went this time i got the red velvet cake and it was quite a large portion with basically 2 slices for $12 ish dollars! had to take it home but was still super good the next day :) read more

I realized I never reviewed this place before but had been a long time customer when they first opened in artesia. When it first opened they had a lot of fun drinks including a cotton candy affogato and such. They also had super cute seating arrangements and felt very comfy. Like a little cafe in Korea. Cut to a few weeks ago when I revisited and was shocked to see what had happened to the place. The seating had changed to what looks like Costco plastic tables. It looks like you're in an after school college prep class rather than cute cafe. Everyone was on laptops so added to the at vibe. And then the drink selection was like half of what it used to be. It also looked like it was a one man show back there and not sure what happened to the business - new owner? Short staffed? He looked super busy and a little stressed but he was very nice. The drinks were still fine but compared to before, it kind of lost its luster and signature cuteness. The ambience just isn't the same anymore. This used to be a place I'd bring a couple girlfriends and have long chats. Now I just wanna get my drink and leave. I had not been here in years but wanted to get some desert after eating dinner at home. Noticed right away that ownership has changed and the younger crowd that use to fill every table were not present. I found out right away when I looked in their desert case and did not see all the cakes that they use to have. I noticed that their menu did not have a lot of the old favorites, but they still had their milk shakes that were delicious before. Our group each ordered milk shakes that were just ok. I usually don't like to post bad reviews but do better! I came to Cafe Maji when it first opened and was in town and wanted to bring my daughter to experience the cute atmosphere I remembered. How the quality in all aspects have gone down. Fold out tables and chairs are not cute. The layers of dirt and grime around the store are not cute. Serving frozen cream puffs from Costco is not cute. The service is whatever. Considering how long this store has been open, I have to imagine it's done well, do better for your customers. I pride myself in telling people you can't find a mediocre restaurant in LA because the people won't let it. This is an extremely mediocre cafe. read more

In America, I feel like we miss out on cafe culture in Asia, and I'm glad I have this place where I can romanticize what it would be like to go there. The drinks menu is extensive but exciting because they offer a wide variety of coffees and specialty drinks that you would not find in a regular coffee shop. My matcha even had latte art (despite being over ice and with a soy milk substitute) and it had sweet floral notes, unlike commercial matcha. And the standard size is medium-large, good for satiation over long study sessions. It embodies a cafe in the sense that it caters to a variety of people and encourages productive behavior! I.e. affordable drinks, good and substantial food options (including Korean food!), different chairs and seating arrangements, peaceful music, multiple outlets, and a charging station--perfect for students and remote workers. Admittedly, this is a front in an old shopping plaza facing a main street so the facility itself has some out-of-date issues. Despite this, you can notice the touch of the owner and how they've catered such a large space for their customers for you to enjoy your drink and study. There is eclectic taste in decor, use of natural light, and clear signage to help you navigate the space. Notably, cafes are usually small spaces so which results in cramped seating, loud conversation exchanges, and buzzing machinery paired with overly complicated coffee and pastries. This place is none of the sort. It's spacious with an ample amount of outlets so you are not likely to come into contact with other people using outlets or finding seating. Its almost like a hybrid between a study cafe and a restaurant which is ideal for those who want to come here to get work done uninterrupted. read more

I came here around 10PM to celebrate a friend's birthday and it was pretty much packed inside! I love how there are different sections of the cafe for different needs: games/social, and a section of individual tables for studying. The place itself is cute and has nice warm lighting. I like that this is an option for a cozy late night hang. That being said, it looked like there was only one person working the entire cafe. He seemed stressed with taking care of everything single-handedly but he got all our orders right and was kind. The Oreo cheesecake was good and big enough to split among 6 people. I am going to have to un-bookmark this cafe! Not sure if the cafe was sold to a new owner or it's just old reviews that I read. The food menu was limited and had nothing we were excited to try (ie bulgogi quesadilla and maji burger). The food was all disappointing! We ordered mango habanero quesadilla, pesto chicken panini, and ttekbokki with cheese (extra $2) and nothing tasted good. We literally heard the microwave ding and immediately our ttekbokki came out. How can you justify $16 for microwaved food?? The drinks were as disappointing. We left not finishing our food and drinks and didn't bother taking them home. A whopping $60.99 for our unsatisfactory meal was a no bueno. I think everyone that comes here just appreciates a large and bright study spot. It felt cold and uninviting. The space provided lots of outlets for computers and there's WiFi. The tables are missed matched between wooden and plastic tables and chairs. Eye sores! Service was run by one man. He takes orders, makes the drinks, and brings them to the table to you. I'm assuming there's someone back there in the kitchen warming up the food/snacks. I haven't been this disappointed in awhile with a cafe especially having driven 40 minutes to try this place. We won't be back. read more

I come here sometimes for some late night book readings/hangouts with my friends & i love it!! The atmosphere is very calm and easy to work in. I always see the same guy working by himself and even then he does a great job at getting orders out in a timely manner. Not to mention he makes the cutest foam faces in the lattes!!! The owner(?) went to send a drink to a table and dropped the menu in front of me and said "Buy something before study" They force you to buy something to actually sit here and study. Cafe Maji has quickly become one of my favorite cafes to study! I first visited Cafe Maji a few years back. I came in expecting the same vibe as most other cafes, but the mismatched furniture and table placement struck me as odd and threw me off. I didn't come back for some time. Recently, however, I've been needing places to study and have SO ENJOYED coming here! Cafe Maji is open later than most other cafes in the area. The vibe is calm and very study-oriented - LOTS of folks needing to study come here although there are also a few groups that come in to play games and catch up. They have an interestingly lengthy menu of different drink options, from tea and coffee, to mochas and slushies and frosties, to lemonades! My partner and I also really love the snacks they offer. French fries have been a staple for us to munch on, but the croffle was also a yummy treat! And we love seeing the tteokbokki whenever someone orders it. A few things to note: - Most tables against the wall and near the register will have outlets, but the middle tables will not - Some of the seats are comfier than others - You can reserve the back corner tables! - You will not be able to eat outside food and drinks (water is ok!)
