a view of the beach through a window

UPDATE Came back this morning, and ordered the Angus Kobe steak w scramble. It was NOT Angus Kobe. It was a pre-frozen patty of a steak, and it tasted sour :-( Keeping at 3 for its convenience on site and the friendly service (and still that fresh squeezed Valencia OJ). ******* Giving 5stars to boost Cafe Manitou's overall rating. 2 stars for this place is unacceptable! Cute interior, attentive and friendly service and yum food. Granted we only had breakfast here, but the lobster scramble was honestly the tastiest I've ever had. It was hubby's dish but I kept taking nibbles here and there. True fresh squeezed Valencia OJ (had almost 5 glasses!), croissants and mini danishes unlimited and complimentary when you order a breakfast entree. Lastly the view outside was beautiful and the decor ambience was quaint, yacht-y, classy casual. **To note, we came at the tail end of breakfast service and were the only ones inside. This may have afforded us a different experience than most**

Truffle fries

Having a frozen drink while reading a book in the pool and hot tub were a nice break from mommy duty. The drinks here are ok, premade in one of those machines where you can see them being spun around. About $7 for one that isn't huge but also not tiny. The truffle fries were pretty good, and a huge portion for the price. So why 3 stars? Every time I went to the bar to order, there was a different bartender. And every time, the bartender ignored me. To the point of being at the register right in front of me and not even giving me a menu or saying "I'll be with you in a minute." It wasn't busy. It would have been easy. The hostess and another young man who was working but not sure what his job was were friendly but the bartenders needed some service skills. That being said, I came back.

It was so burned covered with soot. I believe the steak caught a fire while being cooked to be this bitter. I had to send it back.

Glen Arbor's secret - a real deal Jewish deli shop with enormous sandwiches and variety of bagels…read more Get there before 10 AM because they do sell out TIp: order the half sandwich or if you and your dining companion like the same sandwich just get one and split it. At about 14 a2 to $15 apiece this is one of the rare exceptions where it is a good value because you will get two meals out of each sandwich. We ordered a Tripoli (ham, turkey, salami, and provolone, lettuce, and tomato) and a Gaza ( curried chicken, lettuce, tomato, shredded carrot, and peas) both on rye bread. Both sandwiches were made with high-quality ingredients and we would definitely recommend either of them. Again, I cannot stress it enough, the sandwiches are enormous, and you really should share. it feels like a grammar school, kind of a cafeteria, it's modern and clean, but not particularly in inviting or appealing or charming in any way. Service was patient with his first time, kind, and very helpful. Recommend!! I'd like to return in the future and try their bagels. I'm disappointed that I came at lunchtime and all they had left with cinnamon raisin and I'm not a fan of raisins so... Next time!

I would love to try to lunchmeat sandwiches on my next visit. Highly recommend this. Don't expect it to be a go, grab and leave. It's a busy place so even if the line isn't long, you'll be waiting for a bit to get your order. I'd say, it's completely worth it, as long as you have the time!

Lots of high end spirits and wine. Many small batch jars of sauces, condiments, jams, etc. Boars Head meets sliced for you. Nice salmon and Tuna. Plus the regular groceries that everyone needs. They even have a single barrel whisky that the staff selects and has bottled just for them. It's better than expected for the price. Staff was super helpful and polite. I've never reviewed a grocery store. This is pretty unique shopping! Try it.

Get there early (8ish), the deli person said they sell out. Would love to see this store have a little more in pre packaged foods-to-go. That seems to be a general need. Even pre-made burgers or plain chicken breasts for dogs would have been amazing for people traveling with pets. I only gave 4 stars because I went to the deli last night at dinner time and food looked dry and not great, so I had to order takeout.

It was raining hard when we arrived!!…read more I have to say, my expectations for the main Cherry Republic were higher. We actually think the Traverse City store is the prettiest! But this one does have more buildings. The food was really good! Had a pulled pork sandwich that came with chips. I also tried the cherry coffee (it was ok. I wish it was sweet on its own because I think the cream I used hurt my stomach). Loved that they had a changing table in the bathroom! Their decor is really cute and they have many beautiful flowers! We purchased cherry jam and got our 2nd Cherry Republic passport stamp!

The "Loaded Lug", "cherry bomb ranch", and the basket of fries with the "cherry BBQ spice" all disappointed in terms of their cherry flavor. The food was otherwise tasty, but we were left confused about the cherry part. The ice cream on the other hand is a notch up, as long as you're into a sweet cherry taste. Would highly recommend getting a scoop or two (pictured), especially for the price (the second scoop is only like $0.40 more!). Overall, beautiful property and a lively atmosphere, but just disappointed with the food.

We ordered the cheese curds and some onion rings for apps, and they came out quickly and were very good. The food got mixed reviews from everyone in our party. While the food was average or not great for some, our server was helpful and doing her best to keep up, and we all were fed and got to enjoy dinner together. There was live music out on the deck, and lots of outdoor seating (the weather was just a little cool on this day). There is plentiful parking in a lot which is really nice since parking in town can be tough.

Must read before going here…read more Tonight, I personally overheard the owner turn away a family because the dad asked if the USA World Cup soccer game would be on. His response was, verbatim: "If you owned a business, you would understand we are trying to turn tables." The place was half empty. Instead of simply saying they couldn't put the game on or that they needed the table, he escalated the situation and verbally attacked the dad in front of his kids, even calling him an "a-hole" for asking to watch the USA play in the World Cup at a bar and grill. That tells you everything you need to know about how this place treats customers. Rude, disrespectful, and completely unnecessary. There are plenty of better options in Glen Arbor. Go to Art's instead -- better food, better atmosphere, and they actually seem to appreciate the people spending money in their place.
