I visited Cafe Matcha back in October of last year when it had just opened, and I've had this review sitting in my drafts ever since. It was a busy Sunday, especially with the Studio City Farmers Market happening nearby, so we ended up parking a bit farther away and walking over. The location was easy enough to find once you're in the area, as its right on the corner of Ventura Blvd. and Laurel Cyn. There was a line when we arrived, but it moved at a decent pace. I'm assuming it was mostly due to how popular the drinks were at the time and people taking their time ordering. The space itself had a clean, trendy aesthetic that fit well with the Alfred Coffee vibe. We ordered matcha lattes, and they were surprisingly good in the best way. Smooth, rich, and not watery at all, which honestly can be hard to find. At the time, seating was pretty limited, but I've noticed they've since added an outdoor seating area, which is a nice improvement and makes me want to go back and see what else has changed. Overall, it was a great first experience, solid matcha, cute setup, and a spot I'd definitely revisit now that it's more established.

Good... but not great. So, the Cloud Cream Matcha with dairy-free foam is delish - my friend says it's too heavy on the coconut, but I don't taste it... or maybe I just don't mind it. I did try the version with dairy foam and wasn't a fan. Matcha can be quite bitter, and the dairy foam seems to bring out the bitterness a bit too much. Maybe the coconut really IS pulling its weight. I went home and added oat milk. The Princess Cake Matcha Latte is SO sweet, I could barely finish it. Yes, you can ask for it to be less sweet, but I had no idea it would be THAT sweet - and, of course, I got it to go and couldn't ask for modifications. My biggest issue with Cafe Matcha, though, is the portion size. WAY too small for the price. The food looks good, but I have yet to try something. Parking is available in the plaza lot. Let the parking attendant know that you're there for Cafe Matcha and you won't have to pay.

What can Cafe Matcha offer me that Alfred doesn't already deliver... walk with me. I'm on my way to my next gig and on this venture to caffeinate myself and grab a bite to eat, Cafe Matcha is somehow more accessible than the Alfred a block away. Parking: Plan to park underground at this lot as spaces on the street level are limited. But I was early and only me and another party were there. Upon walking in Lo-fi Music and a smile inducing showa modern (mid century Asian influenced) diner style setup is aesthetically pleasing and invites you to stay a while. The menu is fully Asian inspired miso glazed pastries and soba noodle bowls. I clock the strawberry matcha with the house made strawberry syrup! My springtime flavor obsession is the Strawberry Matcha Latte! They have a great selection of non-dairy vegan milk options if you don't see your preference ask as I noticed some were not listed on the menu yet! Now the food selection... I need a small quick to eat pastry style item. I ask "are there any vegan pastry options" nope none Only option that MIGHT be vegan is the Soba Noodles but Unverified. (I didn't check as I had to add on a a stop to the nearest vegan bakery off of Riverside Dr the one with Toluca in the name) Needless to say that was disappointing, but food offerings are still being rolled out. I look forward to seeing at least one vegan pastry or a grab and go vegan breakfast/protein bar. Total time it took from ordering to getting my drink as the first to order of three groups (5people total including me) was 12 minutes. They decided to work on everyone's order at once so mine came out with an order from each party. This place is still newish and they will improve on the flow, for now plan on waiting a bit. How was the drink? It was perfection, the matcha was smooth and perfectly accented with a balanced fresh strawberry syrup. No sweetener needed nor was the sweetness overwhelming. It was just right! The layering was beautiful My one gripe was mixing the strawberry syrup into the rest of the drink because there's a groove in the bottom of the to go cup that made it hard to get it out and mix it in. The syrup being more whole fruit based is too dense to get away with shaking or swirling the cup to mix it. Overall I will be getting more matcha drinks from here and maybe try the Soba (if it passes dietary restrictions). Overall Cafe Matcha offers a different approach and vibe from Alfred you won't find a matchanga here but you will be pleasantly surprised by the quality!

I am shocked at how good the matcha was and how much space the cafe actually has once I walked in lol. It is a sit down cafe and they serve food too. We ordered the Matcha Cloud Cream and Matcha Milkshake. I was concerned with the size but both so delicious. Weird opinion but the milkshake almost tasted like sweet corn, very buttery/creamy, and the iced matcha was sweet, pinch of salt gave it depth. Best matcha I've had. Staff was nice and friendly.

So glad to find that they have princess cake matcha latte here! I loved the drink when Alfred's had it but was sad that it was seasonal there. However, I would not recommend the waffle. For one, they don't serve it on plates here even though all the pictures show the food on plates. Everything is given to go even if you dine in. It is hard to cut into and eat the waffle out of a box. The waffle is also pretty dry and not warm enough for the cold butter to heat up on it. They also gave me day old/expired matcha milk jam lol.

Made my way to Studio City and made a quick stop at Café Matcha. I ordered a strawberry matcha cloud latte - it was SO GOOD. Perfect amount of sweetness and just overall great flavor. You could tell they are not scrimping on ingredient quality here. My son took one sip and ended up taking my entire drink, I regret not going back for another one. I'll be back again though! I want to try their pastries next time- I couldn't decide which one to get. The café interior was tinier than I expected, there was a section with booths in the middle and some additional seating along the side. I'm sure it feels pretty tight during their peak hours if they have a line going.

Love the vibe! Def could see myself bringing my laptop and working here sometime. Smells heavenly and the strawberry cloud was delicious! As well as the classic matcha latte with SF vanilla! Staff was very friendly. My only complaint is I do agree the portions seem pretty small for the price. Could be a smidge bigger if prices are like that but it does taste like quality ingredients and matcha.

Amazing Cloud Matcha! I'm a huge fan of creamy and sweet matcha and this place hit the spot for me! They have milk substitutions (dairy or plant based) for the latte itself and the cream top. Love the flexibility with adjustments! Wish the cup size was bigger though since it was too good and i finished my drink so quick! Service was friendly and only waited about 3 minutes for my drink to be ready. Interior is small with limited seating, but very clean and modern designs. Outdoor tables are available, too. Love that there is free parking within the plaza as well. I would definitely come back to try their other drinks!

Visited Cafe Matcha on a rainy Saturday and received friendly, quick service. There are 2 small booths, 1 table, and a bench with tiny tables. I was able to snag a seat to hang out for a bit. Yes, the drink sizes are small (see my photo for reference next to a 36 oz water bottle). For me, the $7.50 oat matcha latte with vanilla syrup was a good size, but I could see someone else finishing the drink in less than a minute. Unless specified, matcha drinks all come with the house matcha (no extra surcharge), and all milk options are free. The house matcha flavor was smooth, earthy, had umami but was not at all bitter. The vanilla was worth the extra 50 cents. Will be back if I'm in the area.

The matcha is smooth and creamy and has a quality taste. Several matcha choices on the menu. The environment is cute and inviting. It's pricey though. And the portions are small--if you account for the cup size, ice and cold foam. You're not getting much bang for your buck. Service has been kind the two times I've treated myself to their upscale drinks and food items. There is a shared parking lot available. There are several other businesses in this strip center. Cafe Matcha sits right on the corner of Ventura Blvd. and Laurel Canyon. They're closed on Mondays and close at 5pm, Tuesday through Sunday. It's worth a stop in, if you're a matcha fan, but you're going to have to have a hefty paycheck if this is going to be your morning stop on the way to the office.

Indeed one of the best matchas in town!!! Matcha latte - matcha is on the more savory, nori-like umami taste. Very strong and delicious! Also their oat milk is KOJI oat milk which I feel like is a special probiotic boost to your usual oatmilk and it's pretty good! Pistachio Matcha Latte - Wow they captured both the strong pistachio nutty flavor and the matcha flavor well. Both are strong and works together very well. Not too sweet either. Hojicha Latte - Delicious. but the matcha was so good that it did get overshadowed. YEAST WAFFLE - this was listed at like 24 hr proofing with the yeast. And it's SO GOOD in flavor and texture. Best waffle I've ever had? Also the matcha syrup is also strong and not too sweet. This was my favorite pastry there that was tasty on its own and complimented the matcha latte perfectly. Aesthetics are beautiful. It's a very well designed cafe! Also free parking in the lot.

Today was the grand opening of Cafe Matcha and I have been counting down the days. I've been following this spot for over a year and since it's by the team behind Alfred Coffee, I knew it was going to be good. Cafe Matcha is a matcha-only diner and it somehow feels both super modern and nostalgic at the same time. Think high-quality Japanese matcha served in a setting that gives off classic American diner vibes. It is the kind of place that makes you want to hang out for a while. I ordered three things and loved all of them: *Matcha Cloud Cream (Matcha, Milk, Syrup, Cloud Cream) *Green & Black (Matcha, Cold Brew Coffee, Half & Hald, Shaved Chocolate) *Miso Carrot Danish (White Miso, Heirloom Carrots, Mornay Sauce, Ao Nori) I already can't wait to go back. There are so many other drinks and snacks I want to try. If you're even a little curious about matcha, this place makes it feel really fun and approachable. So glad it's finally open.

I was excited to hear about Alfred's new matcha café. It's located in a small plaza in Studio City, and there's free parking in the plaza lot. The interior has old-school colorful diner vibes with a good amount of seating. I ordered the Cloud Matcha Latte with oat milk. I'm wondering if there is a lot of inconsistency because I was very underwhelmed. It was hard to appreciate the taste of matcha. I could only taste the cream / milk. The price is also on the higher end that isn't justified by the quality or taste. Overall, I wouldn't say it's on my list of favorites or recommended matcha spots in Los Angeles.

The shrimp salad course was epic and even though I'm not a fan of some of the flavorings I loved it. The potato course was also prepared so amusing and unusual. The chef of this place was on one of those Top Chef programs. The pork course was mouth watering, it literally felt like butter melting in my mouth. Each different course was so yummy and unique. Even though my partner and I had a reservation that we showed up on time for, we waited 30 minutes to be seated. That wait time is pretty outrageous considering we reserved a table for 30 minutes earlier. Once seated, we noticed that the staff were extremely slow and inattentive. It took a while for us to get some water and even longer to get our food. The pacing between dishes was ludicrous. The food here is the saving grace for the disappointing service. We started off with the naan & dips. The dips were tahini tofu and carrot hummus. I liked the tahini tofu dip much more than the carrot hummus. It was creamy, nutty, and savory. The naan was fresh and nicely charred. Next we had the goat liver mousse. This included crumpets, biscuit crackers, craisin relish, seasonal jam, and of course, goat liver mousse. The crackers were too dry for me, but I really enjoyed the warm crumpets. All of the spreads were equally good. The goat live mousse itself was smooth and light. For the main courses, we shared the grilled kalbi-style short ribs and pork belly noodles. The short ribs were covered in a sweet-savory sauce and had a deep caramelization, while the meat was tender and juicy. As for the pork belly noodles, the overall flavor was too salty, but the glass noodles had a nice texture. Throughout our entire meal, there was a fly that kept trying to fly onto our food. It was very annoying to deal with. I was surprised that it was even an issue, considering we had indoor seating. I would have understood if only we were seated outside. Ultimately, I did not leave with a great impression of this restaurant. On top of that, there isn't any designated parking lot, so you'll be lucky if you can even find street parking. If not, you'll need to use one of the paid lots nearby. Also, beware that this restaurant adds a surcharge to all checks regardless of party size.

It remains a unique addition to the neighborhood, as well as a good place to grab some interesting dishes. Since the opening of this particular business, the Zinc chain has opened in a few other locations. Those locations are much newer in not only their establishment but their design. This is not to say that this is still not an interesting, well-designed business, but, with time, it has become a little bit rundown. I hate to say it, but that is the truth. This location could really use an update and perhaps a deep cleaning. I was, in fact, kind of surprised at the condition of this business, for example, on the way towards their restrooms. From my opinion, it needs an clean up and an update. Also, the litter that surrounded some of the outdoor tables where I was sitting at my most recent visit was very surprising. This is just something to keep in mind if you're coming here for your first visit. In terms of what they offer for food, though it has evolved a bit over the years, they still have a great, heath-based menu, with some very interesting choices. For all of you vegetarians and vegans out there, you will, for sure, be able to find some tasty food to eat. Once upon a time, this restaurant was impacted with tons and tons of people. It was constantly full with people either going to the bakery and/or sitting down for table service. Shortly past their opening each day, there would be a line of people waiting for service. This seems to have changed, however. Meaning, if you're looking for an interesting place to eat, with some good dishes, at the far Southeast side of DTLA, near the lofts district, and you want a place without a long wait to get a table and/or your food, this may still be your place to go.

Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared, with authentic flavors and quality ingredients that stood out from the first bite to the last. The ambiance was welcoming and the art was tasteful. What truly elevated the experience was the service. The staff were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making us feel genuinely welcomed throughout the meal. They were quick to offer recommendations and ensured everything was perfect without being intrusive. We ordered the tostaditas de atún agua chile negro, beet salad, carne asada taco and Al pastor taco and watched the World Cup game. Distrito Catorce combines exceptional food, a great atmosphere, and top-notch service. It's the kind of place that leaves you planning your next visit before you've even finished your meal. Definitely plan on coming back to watch more World Cup games.

To be honest, I was already biased because his Smorgasburg pop-ups were consistently good. But Distrito Catorce is different , it's like art. My favorite dish was the tacos de papa with salsa macha. The crunch of the potato taco riding into the salsa macha and crema felt like home, but with some extra pop. His salsa game is on point. The scallion salsa on the ribeye taco was also gas. Lastly, I really dug the tostadita de atún. It hit perfectly on these hot summer days. Low-key, I still want to try the El Rey de Noche. Tacos de beef trompo are starting to hit LA, and dude was ahead of the curve making picanha-brisket tacos de trompo. Service is smooth too. The servers are helpful, and solid at the bar. Overall, it's a cool spot with a menu that feels unique to LA.

My friend just flew in for a day because his relative had forgot her passport and needed to travel to Korea, so we stopped here. He missed a few meetings, a vet appointment and other things, but also saved the day, otherwise his relative wouldn't have been able to make it to Korea. While here, they ordered a salad with cherries and pecans that was pretty amazing. I think that may have been one of the better salads I've eaten. In addition to that, a cucumber burrata salad was ordered, and that was made well too. When my venison burger arrived, I took a few bites and it had the exact flavor I was hoping for and I thought the burger was done extremely well. My friend also ordered a pork chop, and it was an amazing cut, cooked perfectly, tender, juicy and everything you could ever want in a bone in pork chop. They also cut the entire piece for you and scraped every last bit off of the bone too. The service is really attentive. They come by your table a lot to ensure you have everything you need. The ambiance is a bit dim in lighting which sets a nice mood. And the place just happens to be dog friendly too. Sorry for the lack of photos, but I didn't wanna intrude on everyone else's meals. However, if you come here, definitely try the salad with cherries and the venison burger or the pork chop!

Not a fan of the grits Tartar 10/10 easy really good dish to get to share Chile was okay nothing else besides sauce and chips 4/10 Ribeye steak very small like 6 oz steak for $58 it's great but not for the size and quality Great service, really fast and their mixed drinks were bomb too. I liked the melon one 9/10 Overnight oats is good too but on the higher end, 7/10 nothing crazy but still good If I go back the butter, burger and pop Benedict would be the move or bacon
