Established back in October of 2025. Still going strong. I have been wanting to try this place for almost 2 months now and I guess today was the day. Every time it was either after hours or something would get in the way. Walked in at 11:40AM and stood in line. There were 4 other people ahead of me. Before that, grabbed their menu to see what I was in the mood for. It had a lot of options to try from. From baked goods, to hot and cold drinks to sandwiches. They also had nice merchandise available for sale. Had lovely patio seating along with indoor seating. Paul, one of their employees gave me a very nice greeting and also had a nice smile. All of their employees were very helpful. I ordered their butter Croissant $5.00, and asked him to warm it up. It was very fresh, flaky, and warm. I also got their Avocado Toast with: cucumber salad mixed in with red cabbage, chilli flake, and blended with a special Furikake spread. $10.00. I also got their full size waffle (2) generous size. $13.00. Last, but not least, got their 16oz. Iced Peaches n' Cream Matcha Latte ( $8.50) (0.50), core based Coconut, organic oat. The coffee shop was spotless clean along with their gender neutral restroom. Great music playing overhead. Jazz and Bossa Nova. My only critique is that the waffle was not that fresh, I had to dip it in the syrup that was given along with another Matcha sauce which was very unnecessary. Waffle was hard to cut, and was underbaked. Prices are tad expensive, but you get what you pay for. Everything else was made/baked to PERFECTION! Absolutely love the cloud matchas. They have really quality matcha that isn't too sweet and the cloud cream topping works perfectly with it. The curry ham pan is an incredibly good pastry. The drink sizes are small for the price, but that's not my biggest complaint. It's the miso carrot danish. I'm a very adventurous eater and these flavors do not work together. The quality of the pastry is top notch. However. This is an apple danish with roasted carrots on it. The flavors do not compliment each other. It doesn't know if it wants to be a sweet pastry or a savory pastry. The curry ham pan is so good I know you know how to make pastries better than this. read more

Finally made it to Café Matcha on Ventura and it did not disappoint! The matcha itself was really good, you can tell it's quality matcha. The vanilla cloud cream on top was the perfect complement, not too sweet and it pairs beautifully with the earthy matcha. Together they just work. Only reason I'm giving it a 4 instead of 5 is the size for the price, they could've been a little more generous. But the quality is definitely there. Worth a visit if you're a matcha lover! Good... but not great. So, the Cloud Cream Matcha with dairy-free foam is delish - my friend says it's too heavy on the coconut, but I don't taste it... or maybe I just don't mind it. I did try the version with dairy foam and wasn't a fan. Matcha can be quite bitter, and the dairy foam seems to bring out the bitterness a bit too much. Maybe the coconut really IS pulling its weight. I went home and added oat milk. The Princess Cake Matcha Latte is SO sweet, I could barely finish it. Yes, you can ask for it to be less sweet, but I had no idea it would be THAT sweet - and, of course, I got it to go and couldn't ask for modifications. My biggest issue with Cafe Matcha, though, is the portion size. WAY too small for the price. The food looks good, but I have yet to try something. Parking is available in the plaza lot. I visited Cafe Matcha back in October of last year when it had just opened, and I've had this review sitting in my drafts ever since. It was a busy Sunday, especially with the Studio City Farmers Market happening nearby, so we ended up parking a bit farther away and walking over. The location was easy enough to find once you're in the area, as its right on the corner of Ventura Blvd. and Laurel Cyn. There was a line when we arrived, but it moved at a decent pace. I'm assuming it was mostly due to how popular the drinks were at the time and people taking their time ordering. The space itself had a clean, trendy aesthetic that fit well with the Alfred Coffee vibe. We ordered matcha lattes, and they were surprisingly good in the best way. Smooth, rich, and not watery at all, which honestly can be hard to find. At the time, seating was pretty limited, but I've noticed they've since added an outdoor seating area, which is a nice improvement and makes me want to go back and see what else has changed. I'm on my way to my next gig and on this venture to caffeinate myself and grab a bite to eat, Cafe Matcha is somehow more accessible than the Alfred a block away. Parking: Plan to park underground at this lot as spaces on the street level are limited. But I was early and only me and another party were there. Upon walking in Lo-fi Music and a smile inducing showa modern (mid century Asian influenced) diner style setup is aesthetically pleasing and invites you to stay a while. The menu is fully Asian inspired miso glazed pastries and soba noodle bowls. I clock the strawberry matcha with the house made strawberry syrup! My springtime flavor obsession is the Strawberry Matcha Latte! They have a great selection of non-dairy vegan milk options if you don't see your preference ask as I noticed some were not listed on the menu yet! Now the food selection... I need a small quick to eat pastry style item. I ask "are there any vegan pastry options" nope none Only option that MIGHT be vegan is the Soba Noodles but Unverified. (I didn't check as I had to add on a a stop to the nearest vegan bakery off of Riverside Dr the one with Toluca in the name) Needless to say that was disappointing, but food offerings are still being rolled out. I look forward to seeing at least one vegan pastry or a grab and go vegan breakfast/protein bar. Total time it took from ordering to getting my drink as the first to order of three groups (5people total including me) was 12 minutes. They decided to work on everyone's order at once so mine came out with an order from each party. This place is still newish and they will improve on the flow, for now plan on waiting a bit. How was the drink? It was perfection, the matcha was smooth and perfectly accented with a balanced fresh strawberry syrup. No sweetener needed nor was the sweetness overwhelming. It was just right! The layering was beautiful My one gripe was mixing the strawberry syrup into the rest of the drink because there's a groove in the bottom of the to go cup that made it hard to get it out and mix it in. The syrup being more whole fruit based is too dense to get away with shaking or swirling the cup to mix it. Overall I will be getting more matcha drinks from here and maybe try the Soba (if it passes dietary restrictions). Overall Cafe Matcha offers a different approach and vibe from Alfred you won't find a matchanga here but you will be pleasantly surprised by the quality! read more

So glad to find that they have princess cake matcha latte here! I loved the drink when Alfred's had it but was sad that it was seasonal there. However, I would not recommend the waffle. For one, they don't serve it on plates here even though all the pictures show the food on plates. Everything is given to go even if you dine in. It is hard to cut into and eat the waffle out of a box. The waffle is also pretty dry and not warm enough for the cold butter to heat up on it. Made my way to Studio City and made a quick stop at Café Matcha. I ordered a strawberry matcha cloud latte - it was SO GOOD. Perfect amount of sweetness and just overall great flavor. You could tell they are not scrimping on ingredient quality here. My son took one sip and ended up taking my entire drink, I regret not going back for another one. I'll be back again though! I want to try their pastries next time- I couldn't decide which one to get. The café interior was tinier than I expected, there was a section with booths in the middle and some additional seating along the side. I tried a Highball this time (lemon, ginger, matcha, brown sugar, and soda) which was cute, although found it hard to integrate the brown sugar into the drink so basically was a pretty unsweetened drink until suddenly at the very end when it was super sweet. Visited Cafe Matcha on a rainy Saturday and received friendly, quick service. There are 2 small booths, 1 table, and a bench with tiny tables. I was able to snag a seat to hang out for a bit. Yes, the drink sizes are small (see my photo for reference next to a 36 oz water bottle). For me, the $7.50 oat matcha latte with vanilla syrup was a good size, but I could see someone else finishing the drink in less than a minute. Unless specified, matcha drinks all come with the house matcha (no extra surcharge), and all milk options are free. The house matcha flavor was smooth, earthy, had umami but was not at all bitter. The vanilla was worth the extra 50 cents. Will be back if I'm in the area. read more

Amazing Cloud Matcha! I'm a huge fan of creamy and sweet matcha and this place hit the spot for me! They have milk substitutions (dairy or plant based) for the latte itself and the cream top. Love the flexibility with adjustments! Wish the cup size was bigger though since it was too good and i finished my drink so quick! And the portions are small--if you account for the cup size, ice and cold foam. You're not getting much bang for your buck. Service has been kind the two times I've treated myself to their upscale drinks and food items. There is a shared parking lot available. There are several other businesses in this strip center. Cafe Matcha sits right on the corner of Ventura Blvd. and Laurel Canyon. They're closed on Mondays and close at 5pm, Tuesday through Sunday. Indeed one of the best matchas in town!!! Matcha latte - matcha is on the more savory, nori-like umami taste. Very strong and delicious! Also their oat milk is KOJI oat milk which I feel like is a special probiotic boost to your usual oatmilk and it's pretty good! Pistachio Matcha Latte - Wow they captured both the strong pistachio nutty flavor and the matcha flavor well. Both are strong and works together very well. Not too sweet either. Hojicha Latte - Delicious. but the matcha was so good that it did get overshadowed. YEAST WAFFLE - this was listed at like 24 hr proofing with the yeast. And it's SO GOOD in flavor and texture. Best waffle I've ever had? Also the matcha syrup is also strong and not too sweet. This was my favorite pastry there that was tasty on its own and complimented the matcha latte perfectly. I've been following this spot for over a year and since it's by the team behind Alfred Coffee, I knew it was going to be good. Alfred's latest spinoff Cafe Matcha opened and having driven past their construction for months and seeing it on social media, I was excited to drop by! Came by on a Wednesday afternoon after a hike in the area and found parking easily in this plaza (both ground and underground free parking available). The decor of the cafe is in a mid century modern style which is quite nice though their exclusively interior seating is limited. Their menu isn't the largest but I came for the sole purpose of trying out this best matcha. Matcha Latte 2/5, omg okay so (1) obviously not the best matcha in town™. (2) price wise this is actually outrageous for how small this cup is. I took a photo w my hand for reference and I don't have big hands,,, the matcha quality itself IS good however due to the small size of the drink, the ratio of matcha : milk is off, leaving the user drinking somehow alternating too much matcha : milk with too much milk : matcha. Price alone would make me not order this again, not even accounting for this taste. Extremely cute and fun Matcha diner ! I tried their Belgian waffle with their matcha sauce, and a strawberry matcha to drink. The matcha itself is strong and definitely quality, however the cups are minuscule and you really don't get an adequate amount. The waffle was chewy and yummy with a sugary crust, and the matcha sauce was to die for !!! The diner itself offers ample seating, with comfortable booth options. Seating is first come first serve so I recommend going during their less busy times for the full experience. The bathroom was super clean and spacious. The staff is quick, kind, and helpful. My partner and I went here. Full disclosure I am not big on matcha. She loves it. So I had her get a drink and a lot of this is her review. We also didn't have any of their food items. A relatively fast casual vibe with some kids at the front doing the work. They were nice and informative. I'm going to guess service is going to be up to whose shift it is and what mood they are in. You don't get the sense that these are owners or people that have any personal stake in the business. No small town coffee shop vibes or anything. They Co-opted a strange island place across in the middle of the parking area outside, too. Location: 2/5 I think it's important to mention this is a building in a busy shopping area on the corner of Laurel Canyon and Ventura. The building itself is an island literally right in the corner. This place is going to get business from shoppers and gym goers alone. I frequent the planet fitness in this shopping area so I'd be pretty great for me if this place rocked. Too bad it doesn't. The downside is they took two coveted parking spaces in the lot and dedicated them to this place. It's also a parking area that's already pretty crazy so having a lot of short term in and out parking for this location is causing chaos for regular patrons of the gym. People tend to drive the wrong way down the one way lot all the time. So this is just adding to the chaos. The funny thing is this mall has a huge underground lot that is easy to get to. It'd be better if they took like 10 spots underground up with a sign that said "free cafe matcha parking underground" or something. Then, could you imagine? Actually encouraged people to walk a bit to get there. Not only would it be healthy and less stressful for people. But more diplomatic in a crowded space. But... that's not the world we live in! So know that the parking is even worse up top now and be careful as people tend not to look and drive terrible and confused in this area. I'd go around the corner. Take a short walk to numerous better coffee shops. Or a short drive to Tujunga for better. read more

The space's bright & colorful, and the indoor temp was a bit warm during my visit. The service was generally friendly. I ordered the very earthy Iced Matcha Latte ($7.00) with whole milk, which was a good pick-me-up. I preferred the latte without sweetener. However, the serving size was smaller than expected, and the drink was a little too milky for me. Also, I purchased the Hojicha Apple Galette ($6.50), which warmed-up well for breakfast the next day. Love this cafe that specializes in matcha - which is the sister cafe of Alfred coffee. Love the vibe and decor which reminds me of "stranger things" kinda vibe. So happy that finally there's a place that can do plant based/vegan matcha cloud as I'm allergic to dairy. They have stool table with bench seating on the side wall along with some diner booth type of seating inside. There's additional seating outdoor in middle of parking lot - kinda 1 pm o'clock direction as you walk out of the cafe. I've tried their strawberry plant based matcha cloud and their basic ice matcha latte. They offer koatji oat milk, pistachio milk along with some other ones. It's a little pricey and wish the glass/cup size is a little bigger since I can easily finish it so fast :) You can tell the matcha is high quality as you can taste it and you can see it by the color. read more

Of the many joys in life, a New Years breakfast at a new place is right up there. This place really lives up to their name, with so many options for matcha, it'll start coming out of your ears if you let it. I had the full order of waffles alongside their strawberry matcha latte and shared their curry bun which was like eating a buttery, fluffy cloud. The waffles themselves come with this pleasantly sweet matcha sauce, and maple syrup which I didn't use too much of simply because the matcha sauce was so much flavor already. While the waffles are a little on the denser side, they yeast their dough for 24 hours which may contribute to that. However, this is less so a gripe and more an exciting revelation that if they ever decide to do breakfast sandwiches, their waffles would be strudy enough to hold into all manner of breakfast delights. This spot is cozy, and offers dining that can be a little cramped, but I absolutely appreciate how effectively they've used their space, as it's not the biggest shop. The person taking our order was super nice and honestly, I can't think of a better way to spend the first day of the year than with tasty sights and smells. Date: October 15, 2025 I LOVE matcha and have been to countless joints to try their matcha. I was so excited when I saw a new matcha place was opening up close by in the valley. Took the kiddos and stopped by on grand opening day. Wasn't about to brace the lines at 8am with two babies so stopped by around 10. At 7$ a cup and a TINY cup for that matter, I was so disappointed. My friend already warned me that Alfred's wasn't good (I'm not a coffee drinker) but I wanted to try the matcha for myself. I got the regular matcha latte w/ whole milk and the matcha lemonade. Matcha latte wasn't HORRIBLE but wasn't good at all. Barely any matcha taste and really just green milk at this point. I'm sorry but the matcha lemonade was disgusting. I tried to finish because I spent 7$ on it but I couldn't and ended up tossing it after half way. Sorry not sorry but what a disappointing visit. I like the establishment is nice and clean and the folks inside are very nice. But maybe is just me. But their matcha tasted like grass. I got the cloud vanilla one. Maybe I should have chosen a fancier matcha variety but I honestly didn't know any better. I got a food item with my order and that was pretty good. But the drink...@_@.I will think really hard before braving it again and trying to see if it doesn't taste like someone's lawn. I will update if my experience is different. read more

Excellent matcha cafe in Studio City! I stopped by Cafe Matcha for an afternoon pick-me-up before an appointment I had a few blocks away. The free parking was a nice perk. I had the vanilla dairy-free matcha cloud cream. The matcha was good quality--earthy, grassy, and rich. I only wish the drink lasted more than a few sips. Service was good, and my drink came out fast. I like the Midcentury modern decor. There was plenty of seating and the WiFi was decent. Overall, a great spot to hang and grab a drink. read more

I was really looking forward to trying Café matcha and it did not disappoint. This place is very hard to miss since it is right at the corner of a very prominent shopping center. I visited on a Saturday morning before it got busy, which I recommend because this shopping center and parking lot get very busy and hectic. The café is small but has plenty of seating. It has a retro diner vibe to it. The service was friendly and surprisingly quick. I ordered a plant based strawberry matcha cloud cream and oat milk and loved it. I will definitely return for a regular matcha. read more
