I tried the matcha duo which was very rich and creamy, my friend had the Earl Grey cafe duo which was very rich and creamy as well. Had a little hint of salt which made it delicious. I really enjoy Rok's matcha and this location is no exception to the quality and taste of the drinks. But this location has some major issues that don't make the visit comfortable or practical. This location has one row of maybe 5 tables, a bench right at a huge window with maybe 6-7 seats, and then a small center "couch" area. The one row of tables are a bad design because once a solo person sits there, that takes up 2 seats. The couch is really just to hang out for a short time like while waiting for your drink because it's not comfortable to be with a friend or group and chat, and you're in the way of people ordering and waiting for their drinks. And then the bench at the window is directly in the sun for the entire afternoon. No shades. No cover. Just heat and sun and light directly on you. I sat there for 5 minute and it was way too hot to continue sitting there. Outside? Not better. It seems like the public patio on the corner of Ventura and Laurelgrove is part of the property and they have maybe 2 umbrellas that don't even give you enough cover from the sun. Plus all the traffic noise from Ventura is obnoxious. The traffic and setting of the Olympic and Wilshire locations are nowhere near as bad when sitting outside. And those have more comfortable and practical interior set ups as well. They also have a menu outside and then a small menu facing away from the line on the counter next to the cashier so if you don't check the menu outside you're having to awkwardly check the menu at the register or have the cashier wait while you look. These things just don't make practical sense and it makes for a pretty uncomfortable and unenjoyable visit. read more

Super good and solid matcha spot! I'll say that on the day we went, I think they made the purée a little too strong and sweet, so my drink came out overbearingly sweet. But I've had it before and thought the matcha really shone through then, so I'm chalking it up to an off pour rather than a pattern. Wowza! Stumbled upon this gem while I was on my way walking to another coffee shop then decided to just stop here lol! I was craving coffee but I could not resist and decided to get a matcha. At first I was going to get the Black Sesame but I had to get the matcha since that's what this spot is most known for and wow! Honestly, best matcha I've had! I'm not a big matcha person but lately I've been having them like nonstop and still didn't see the hype but after trying the matcha here, yup! If matcha tasted like this all the time I'd be a matcha lover for sure. I'll def be drinking more and found the spot to go to! The matcha duo was creamy but not too sweet and had taste all the way until the end. And the presentation of the matcha was so clean. Came back to Rok and this time tried the Lotus Einspanner with oat milk! I already covered the matcha last visit so I'll focus on the coffee this time. Honestly, it was so good. Not overly sweet at all, and the biscoff crumbs on top were such a nice touch. I'm also a huge fan of their cream top, it's just done really well. My only complaint carries over from last time though: oat milk still makes the consistency too thick, same issue I had with the matcha duo. If they can find an oat milk that doesn't do that, these drinks are an easy 5/5. For now, a solid 4/5 on the coffee. Love the vibe here and will keep coming back! I stopped by Rok again and it was just as busy as ever, maybe even more so. This time I went with their chestnut latte but I had to get it without the cream top as I'm dairy-free. My bf got the sparkling yuzu matcha. My latte was okay but the chestnut flavor was too subtle. I wonder if the cream top makes the difference. The mango matcha duo is ! The matcha with whole milk is the right kind of creamy and fluid without being too thick. The thick matcha cream on top is thiccc with 3 c's and heavenly! It makes the drink! They even have cute rectangular cubed ice that is unique. Once I stirred up the mango, it added the perfect amount of sweetness and fruitiness to the matcha without overpowering or disappearing into it. I came as soon as they opened at 8am on a Saturday and there was luckily no line. I hung out there for about an hour and still no long line formed. Came around 10AM on a Tuesday and luckily there was no line! I got the Black Sesame Latte ($8). The coffee was pretty good and I liked that it wasn't too sweet, but I wish the black sesame flavor was stronger. I mostly noticed the texture from the sesame bits rather than the flavor itself. The space is open and clean with some seating. Parking can be a little tricky, but I found metered street parking, and there's also a parking garage nearby. Not a bad spot! ROK is giving major Gen Z hangout energy and the menu is genuinely huge -- Matcha Duo, Studio Craft, and Cafe Duo series, so there's a lot to work through before you even reach the register. We tried three: strawberry matcha, coconut matcha, and the classic rich matcha. All three were really good, and honestly they lean more dessert than drink -- the cream foam on top is doing a lot of the work, making each one taste rich and almost creamy-sweet rather than just grassy like matcha at a lot of other spots. We have tried the Cookie Butter Einspanner latte, the plain Einspanner Latte, a Strawberry Matcha Duo, and the Black Sesame latte. Out of these, I would get the Einspanners again any day. The matcha cream top is really nice - great flavor and texture. Their matcha is a nice strong flavor, not too bitter and undoubtedly smoother than almost anywhere else I've tried. They are probably my #2 or 3 spot for top matcha in the LA area. Unfortunately for me, the Strawberry Matcha Duo as it comes is way too sweet for me. I think I would ask for half the strawberry jam next time or just try the plain matcha duo. The Sesame latte was honestly too overwhelmingly sesame flavored. It ended up alllll over my partner's teeth. Probably half the amount of sesame would have been reasonable. Both the plain Einspanner and the Cookie Butter Einspanner were very nice. Smooth, rich cream top with just the right amount of sweetness and flavor. The espresso is not bitter. My only thought is that the espresso flavor could be a little stronger in this drink, altho it's very nice as it is as well. I will be back here for these two drinks in the future, and to try the matcha at a different sweetness level. The space itself is nice, open, several small two top tables and bar seating around the edges, with an artsy bench in the middle for sitting while you wait for your to-go order (most people are ordering to-go, so there is usually seating available). There is also a nice courtyard for the mall building this is in that you can hang out in. They have a clean restroom inside. There is plenty of natural and artificial light. Music is always playing, but imo, at a level too loud to study or work without earbuds in. YMMV. This place gets suuuuuuper busy on the weekends, especially on a Sunday when we were last here after the farmer's market. The line took ages. They make drinks quite slowly here and I would say they are a little overwhelmed and in the weeds at this new location so far. They could use more staff making drinks. Even when we came mid-day on a weekday and were one of 3 orders in the whole place, the drinks took their time. That's fine for a less busy place and I don't mind that they take their time to create quality drinks, but at a place that does this much business...who's got the time to wait 45+ minutes in line for a matcha except on the weekends? They need to address that. Parking is street only, or if you get lucky and there is space in the underground garage behind the building, the valet attendant will let you park there for 30 minutes free for picking up orders... obviously that's not going to work on the weekends when you're stuck there for 30 minutes to an hour just waiting to even order. Parking: Rok is on Ventura Blvd in Studio City so parking there is already annoying. It's at the street corner of Ventura and Laurelgrove. You can either drive up and down looking for street parking along Ventura or you can turn into one of the neighborhoods to park and walk down the blvd. Just be sure to read the signage and not block any driveways. We did have to park a couple blocks away, but no problem since window shopping on that strip is always nice. Ambiance: Inside felt nice and airy, good temperature, nice overhead lights, and lots of beautiful natural light. The tree in the middle is also a nice photo opp. There is very limited seating inside since the floor plan is spaced out. Also on social media, there was a photo booth/photo strip machine being advertised but it was not working or not in service when we visited. This is the type of place to grab your coffee and just go, and isn't so leisurely. Drinks: We ordered the matcha duo and Black sesame latte. The matcha duo was delicious and almost perfect sweetness. The matcha duo was a nice double matcha experience, also not too sweet. The matcha didn't feel top tier quality like Rocky's matcha, but it was definitely up there and no complaints in terms or bitterness or any grainy quality to it. The black sesame was a bit sweet and the cream top really pushes it over the top in terms of being too decadent and rich. The coffee inside was nice, but we were left desiring a stronger coffee flavor in the latte. Service: The line was super long and wrapped outside the building for a decent distance, but went by at a decent speed. We got out drinks in a good amount of time despite the crowd on a Friday afternoon. Overall: Visually appealing cafe experience with its bright, airy interior and well crafted specialty drinks. Woooow this place is popular! Came here for the first time this past weekend with some friends. This is a trendy matcha spot with a clean, Scandinavian inspired vibe. A few friends later have described their drinks as a little too sweet, and even without knowing that I ordered it less sweet by default. I came here to try Rok for the second time (first being its prime Koreatown location) and because this is way closer to my house and had hopes that this could be a new matcha spot for me. Parking at this plaza does cost money but as I spotted most people doing, you can park somewhere just off Ventura Blvd in the residential areas and walk on over for free. There is also metered street parking. Given that this place has blown up on social media, definitely expect a large line and a wait time of ~30 mins. Service itself wasn't slow after we ordered and I imagine this is because they are a new location and likely still training employees but there was only 1 cashier and multiple baristas but only 1 barista would make a drink while the others watched? So this would understandably increase wait times. There is no outdoor seating and quite a bit of indoor seating! Given its popularity, I wouldn't recommend coming here to study or read but I think this could be a nice cafe to visit and catch up with friends! Visited: 4/23/26 The Duo Series is served iced only, with your choice of milk. I chose whole milk. Both drinks were delicious and tasted very true to their flavors. I was in more of a fruity mood, so I ended up preferring the Mango Matcha Duo, but I was pleasantly surprised by how closely the Blueberry Shortcake Matcha Duo matched its name. It really did give that dessert-like flavor. The matcha itself was smooth and creamy, which I really liked. However, the matcha flavor was a bit subtle and got overpowered by the stronger components in both drinks, especially the blueberry shortcake. Even so, both drinks were still very enjoyable and well made! I just wish the matcha flavor stood out a bit more to balance everything. The drinks were also made and served very quickly, which made the experience even better. Mango Matcha Duo ($8.50): 9.5/10 Blueberry Shortcake Matcha Duo ($8.75): 9.5/10 They also had a really fun feature near the entrance called "Checkpoint". It is a free photo booth that prints your picture in a receipt-style format. After scanning the QR code, you can view and download the colored version of your photo, and you even have the option to send it as a postcard. However, you can't see how you look until it's printed. The ambiance is cozy and inviting. There is a tree in the center of the space and the lighting creates a warm and comfy vibe. Indoor seating is available, but I can see it filling up quickly during peak hours. Utensils such as straws, napkins, and lids are located at the front near the register, which is convenient. They also have merchandise available for purchase inside. The bathroom was clean overall, but it was missing toilet paper at the time of my visit. Unfortunately, the parking situation was not great. The shop is located within a plaza, and a worker approached us to let us know that parking in the garage costs $5 for the first 30 minutes. After that, valet rates apply. The garage itself felt very cramped, and it is easy to get blocked in by other cars as other cars can park behind you. read more

If 3.5 was available to give, that's what I would have given. I was looking forward to trying Rok and we made it a destination to go to. The line wasn't too long and there were quite a few employees which was helpful to pump out the drinks that patrons were ordering. The pastries in the bake case looked day old even if they weren't. There was a good selection of based goods but they looked hard and not freshly baked. The atmosphere was nothing to write home about. They could have simply made a pick-up window that opened to Ventura Blvd. and pushed matchas and coffee orders out to the customers. Folks were lining up to order, and once they received their drinks they walked out the door. It was an assembly line of service and pick-up. Matcha and coffee were acceptable, but there are other businesses offering as good, if not better. It would be nice if there was something that hooked customers to want to return to Rok instead of churn-and-burn style service. We got here at 9am on Saturday morning and of course, there was already a line! The line moved on the slower side; however, the drinks came out a bit faster. We got the Matcha Duo and the Matcha Strawberry Shortcake Duo. I love that you can adjust the sweetness (and glad I asked) so I got 50% sweet for the Matcha Duo and that was still so sweet for me that I can't imagine the regular. It was nice and creamy with the foam, which I loved. We luckily got a seat and where there are a lot of tables/chairs, it does get taken quickly! Lots of street parking, but also LOTS of businesses so it may be harder in "rush" hours. I heard their coffee was good too so I would try it maybe when the line isn't so long! read more

Rok's specialty matchas are so good; they always hit. They have a perfectly concentrated matcha taste, creamy foam, and that extra unique sweetness. The dot cake matcha is my fave! (This is my petition to make it a permanent part of the menu ) It has a cookie butter smear, bits of cake mixed in, and a bunch of sprinkles on top--it's a perfect lil dessert in a cup. I had to get the Matcha Duo as Rok is known for that. Right off the bat, I did love how strong their matcha was. I did notice however that the matcha had a chalky taste. It did get better as the ice melted and balanced out the chalky taste. Nonetheless, the matcha itself was good, a little on the sweeter side. read more

Yes. The beverages are delightful. The staff is kind and patient. And yes, if you bring ear plugs, it's nice to hang out inside and avoid the heat. Can someone please add some kind of fabric to the ceiling or hang puffy clouds to help with the sound bouncing everywhere in that small space? Please? If you want to hook me up with some drinks, I'll 3D Print them and use a soft material to handle the sound. We can even make them translucent and all sorts of colors if you want... or white or clear. If not, me, please have someone do something about the sound in there. It's brutal and if you don't believe me, go to the decibel reader on your watch or phone and see for yourself.
