Ensalada de Mexicali with Flame broiled steak
    Bri S.

Fresh, house made tortillas that they press and cook infront of you! My family and I have been going here for many years and the food is always delicious and fresh. The place itself is usually clean and well kept. Customer service could be better, wasn't terrible but definitely wasn't welcoming. Everything on their menu is fantastic, just depends on what kind of mood you're in!

Sweet pork with green sauce burrito - bomb!
    Juji A.

A coworker recommended this location while we visited Colorado. It did not disappoint. We had sweet pork with green sauce, it was so flavorful!the homemade tortillas are legit! The restaurant is decorated nicely and background music was great. Staff behind the counter were helpful in explaining the menu. Although a sit down restaurant everything is self serve. Highly recommended

    Sweet Pork Smothered Burrito

Holy, portion size was insane but I am NOT at all complaining. I got the smothered burrito with sweet pork and it was more than enough. Service was pretty amazing--the guy on the line was nice, and the lady at the register had a fun personality. Ambiance was upbeat. For me coming in around 3pm, it was pretty busy! Cannot recommend this place enough, and I'll for sure be back!

    Quesole

Was unfamiliar with this restaurant but decided to give it a try. Similar to Chipotle but different menu items. We had three in our party that ordered tacos, quesole and enchiladas along with chips, quacamole and salsa. Also tried the margarita that was made with fresh limes, it was yummy. Would probably return and try the burrito next time as they look massive.

    Not inspiring burrito

We're from central Texas so we're biased on Mexican food and, although this Mexican food seems to be California inspired, it didn't inspire us to eat on to go plates and plastic knives and forks. The chicken burrito was "ok" but would fall into the fast food range of taste and quality. Prices were ok for what you get but I think next time I get the urge for fast food Mexican here, I'll zip over to taco Johns instead.

    Sweet pork burrito

The food is delicious, my go to is the sweet pork quesadilla with white sauce on the side. Or a steak burrito. The service is normal like a chipotle walkthrough line. The vibe is there, the right type on music for a restaurant not too loud but not too low.

    A burrito

These burritos are huge and good. I got Barbacoa and sweet pork. With just the tomatillo sauce. Chips, salsa and guacamole. The salsa was sweet and the guacomole didn't have much flavor but substance was enough. Didn't like sweet salsa. The Barbacoa wasn't bad, just didn't seem like Barbacoa but just normal pork. But I thought it was beef. The sweet pork is very sweet and I was not a fan. If you do try it. Get a spicy sauce to go over it. It's weird to eat sugary meat. I would try this place again but try different meats and sauces.

Smothered burrito with creamy habanero and side salad with pico de gallo

This was probably one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in all of Fort Collins and completes the trifecta of burritos between big city burrito, qdoba, and cafe mex that I would rotate between for lunch. The first thing to mention here is the sauces are so amazing and make any of the dishes tasty. Creamy habanero I'm sure is the most popular and I usually try to get a mix of that and the green chile sauce. The creamy habanero is creamy and has so much flavor. I usually get the quesolle (first tried it after it showed up in an article when they opened and it looked so delicious), which is a quesadilla but wrapped into a cylinder shape in order to put more meat in the middle. I remember almost always getting the sweet pork filling. Note about the sweet pork - it's tasty but it feels way too sweet and kinda over seasoned to me maybe. It makes me need to gulp down water after each bite. Another thing to try is the smothered burrito. You get more meat in this one as well as a sauce on top and inside the burrito rather than on the side with the quesolle. Everything is served with salad and pico or chips and I remember they used to serve guacamole but I don't think I saw it recently unless you asked for it extra. All in all, this is a piece of good Colorado style Mexican food

Workers cleaning and sweeping more than 1 hour before close while making food. Is this a health code violation?!

The green chile is pretty good depending which one you get. Certainly above other restaurants that are like Cafe Mexicali.

Breakfast burrito will save your life here. Other than that, the sweet pork is good eats. If you don't order the sweet pork it's subpar

Cafe Mexicali is the best! I suggest not going during the dinner rush. There usually is a long line. Get the white habenero(?) sauce! yumm!

But this was genuinely some of the best Mexican-inspired food of my LIFE! As a vegetarian, Mexican food tends to be hit or miss when it comes to creative meat substitutes. Blue Agave chose fried avocado tacos as its offering, and WOW. They were truly amazing. Life changing. Well spiced, the right amount of filling in each taco, and the avocado itself was perfectly ripe and fried well without much residual grease. Not only that, but the side beans and rice were incredible. The portions were generous and spiced magically- I could eat just the beans and rice as a dish on its own. I was also astounded by how the grilled corn sauce was thick and saucy, but tasted EXACTLY like elote- some kind of culinary magic. This place may be slightly pricier, but the food portions are large and I cleaned my plate and left feeling stuffed. My companions couldn't finish their beans and rice, and if I didn't think I was going to explode I would have cleaned their plates, too. I'm glad I don't live in FoCo or else I would go broke eating here. I cannot recommend it enough, especially those avocado tacos. I will be dreaming of them for years. The restaurant was a little jammed when I visited and some might find the atmosphere overwhelming, but I would say it's absolutely worth it. Seriously, if you're going to one place in FoCo, go here.

It was rich, creamy, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. Every bite was packed with delicious flavors, making it the perfect way to start our meal. For the main course, we got the Barbacoa de Picanha, along with two tacos--the Taco de Ribeye and the Duck Taco. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. The meats were tender, juicy, and full of flavor. We also ordered two drinks: the Sabina Safe and the Martini Manzana. Both were excellent--refreshing, flavorful, and crafted perfectly. They paired wonderfully with the food and added even more to the overall experience. A special shoutout goes to our server, Allen. He was incredibly friendly, hospitable, and knowledgeable. We followed several of his recommendations, and every single one was spot on. His attentive service truly elevated our dining experience. To top it all off, Allen surprised us with two complimentary shots at the end of the meal. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of them, but they were honestly the most delicious shots I've ever had. They had a beautiful purple creamy foam on top and were absolutely incredible--smooth, unique, and unforgettable. Overall, everything was outstanding: the food, the drinks, the service, and the atmosphere. This was a truly memorable dining experience, and I will definitely be coming back whenever I'm in the area. Highly recommended!
