Salmon with green beans and potato salad
    Shanita F.

A group of friends and I came to cafe Nola on a Thursday evening for their line dancing night. We got there around 7 p.m., and there was already a thick crowd of people enjoying their meals/drinks and line dancing! Every line dance you can think of (and probably many you've never heard of) was done that night. I learned sooooo many new ones, and I appreciated that there's an instructor for some of the dances. It's a fun night of no judgment and good vibes. Great DJ as well! But there's more! The food and drinks are also great here! They have a happy hour until 8 p.m.! $5 well shots, rum punch, and I think another cocktail. I actually just had an unsweetened tea, which comes in a large drinking cup. I ordered the salmon with green beans and potato salad, which I think was about $21. The salmon was so well-seasoned and wasn't dry at all! The green beans and potato salad were also good. It really felt like a summer cookout at your favorite Auntie's house. I also tried a shrimp that a friend ordered, and it was also very well seasoned and flavorful. Although the place was very busy, our waitress, Jamari, was very friendly and checked on us regularly! We didn't wait long for the food to come out either. I'll def be back. Maybe I'll come early next time, because the parking lot is small, and judging by the number of people who knew every single line dance, they have some faithful regulars that come out. This is a great place to gather with friends, celebrate special occasions, or just to have fun solo dolo. I hear they have trap bingo one night, comedy/open mic on another night, and karaoke on Fridays. My apologies in advance because I will be up there singing my heart out on a Friday in the very near future!

Very cool place. Was clean, and the staff was friendly. The ribs & tips were fantastic, and the red beans were very flavorful. I enjoyed the flavor of the mac n cheese as well. Will return for sure and looking forward to checking out more of the menu!

If there's one thing the owners of Cafe Nola excel at, it's advertising. No matter where I am on the Westbank, I can always spot a sign at a major intersection drawing me in. Finally, I gave in and stopped by. The restaurant had just opened, so I was the only guest for a while, but it didn't feel empty. The place has a great vibe--the music kept me moving in my seat and singing along between bites. There's even a jukebox, so I got to play DJ for a bit. Larissa, my server, was friendly and upbeat, adding to the lively atmosphere. I heard they're hosting a Sunday brunch soon, and I just might have to swing by again.

Smoked turkey leg Red beans & rice with potatoe salad

My overall experience was amazing. The food was beautiful, flavorful, and affordable. It also was very good size portion. I couldn't even finish it all. And that sauce on that tender smoke turkey was my favorite part. The waitress was very kind, friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was awesome smooth 90s rnb. I like to think the music was tailor to me lol but amazing spot my husband and I will make this one of our go to from now on.

The owner in the staff was really nice. The presentation of the food was really good and it looked good. The place was clean and nicely decorating.

    Cocktail Cup Size

Overpriced Drinks! Reasonably priced on the menu but an automatic gratuity of 18% on ALL checks - means one $12.00 cocktail adds up to a $16.00 tab.... It's a 8oz plastic cup.

Had a craving for bbq and noticed this new spot. The bbq ribs and chicken were tender and delicious. Nice smoky flavor. The beans were a hit! We will be back.

    Won't be visiting here again!

Our server, Christopher, was very attentive, suggested wine pairings, and gave us great recommendations. We started with the charbroiled oysters which is a must. They were large and charred to perfection on the outside grill, topped with parm and breadcrumbs. My friends ordered the filet and the gulf fish, and I had the charred cabbage entree, with a French gerwurztraminer blend. The mushrooms with the blue cheese sauce were so rich and delicious! Sweet treats were a no brainer. The blue cheese flan was creamy and decadent. A perfect ending to the meal. This is so far my fave restaurant in New Orleans. It's an honest, no BS creole inspired cuisine. 100% coming back soon!

And yet again, I am so thankful for Yelp steering me in the right direction yet again! A short Uber from the French Quarter brought us to what I believe is such a special hidden gem! The moment you step into Atchafalaya, you realize it. Ambience is amazing, quirky, cool, homey and cozy. Staff is amazing. We sat in our own private room and were treated to a very special delight of a dinner. I tried the incredible fried green tomatoes, the seafood soup (?) and the incredible steak...wow, everything was amazing. And not only did Chef Christopher Lynch come out to say hello to my Autistic son but the owner Tony Tocco did as well and it made his day! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Ohhhhh snap. This place absolutely slaps!!…read more If you are looking for southern Creole soul food that actually understands the assignment and did the homework, this is the place. No notes. Standing ovation. First things first, do not be a chicken. Yes, it is outside the tourist bubble. Yes, you might clutch your pearls for a second on the drive. Relax. We felt completely safe, and it is a short ride from the French Quarter. The only thing in danger here is your belt notch! The atmosphere is exactly what a soul food kitchen should be. Cafeteria line moving with purpose. Staff smiling like they know something you do not yet know. Portions so generous they feel personal. And just enough grease permanently bonded to the surfaces to let you know the food is about to be correct. Now the food. Lord help me. This is not food you politely eat. This is food with soul. The kind of soul that makes you want to slap your mamma, then immediately apologize and say damnit three times while chewing. Every bite tastes like somebody's auntie took offense to the idea of under seasoning. Just look at the plates. It was heaven served in a clamshell. No garnish. No nonsense. Just pure comfort. If you grew up in the South, this will feel like home. If you are from the North and curious what southern comfort food actually tastes like, practice your "Hey, Yall" in the mirror and commit fully for lunch. One warning. They sell food until it is gone. When it is gone, it is gone! So if you want that heavy mac and cheese energy, you better show up early and hungry. Final takeaway. We went in for lunch. I left happy, full, and slightly greasy, with the overwhelming urge to take a nap and call someone I love. She didn't answer so I regulated my emotions with a piece of cake from the girl in the corner - you'll see when you arrive. So don't skip dessert!!

Sigh. Disclaimer: the food just isn't the same anymore…read more My parents live on the Westbank, so whenever I come home to visit and stay more than a few days, I always make a stop here, specifically for their stewed okra on Tuesdays. I hadn't eaten here in over a year, but two years ago that okra SMACKED. It was so good I had to stop myself from eating the entire container in one sitting. This time, though, it tasted completely different. Honestly, I mostly picked over it. It did have a decent amount of seasoning meat in it, which I appreciated, but the flavor was just off. My mother agreed. I also ordered the stuffed catfish, and unfortunately the catfish tasted almost entirely like blackened seasoning and nothing else. It used to have much more flavor and balance than that. The yams were fine, and the seafood dressing tasted the same as usual, but I was really disappointed because the okra was always the star of the show for me. Since that's no longer hitting the same, I honestly won't be back. And mind you, this was after standing in line for ~90 minutes. I will say the workers still have that Southern hospitality, and the customer service itself was pleasant. But while standing in line and watching the workflow, it was easy to think of multiple ways the business could improve efficiency. I'm honestly surprised those issues haven't been addressed yet. If you want to go for the experience, then sure, go for it. But don't expect to be blown away. For me, the wait time, prices, and food quality just didn't live up to the hype anymore.
