Everyday I wish this place was better, but every time I visit, it's so disappointing. 2-stars because the coffee is good, but that's really the only redeeming quality. I'd still go in for coffee, but after our last experience, my husband is on a full boycott. The service is poor, the food is worse and the prices are sky high. Potatoes: under cooked and hard in the middle, bacon: under cooked (and microwaved at that), breakfast burrito: swimming in a pool of oil. One time, when I brought my sandwich back to the counter because it had raw bacon on it, the person behind the counter just handed me a plate of only slightly more microwaved pork-product like they expected me to re build my own sandwich - what was I supposed to do with the raw meat still on the bread!? Maybe this is a personal issue, but they don't serve breakfast items after 11 on the weekends and they are closed Sunday: two mortal sins in the cafe/coffee shop world, if you ask me. I may be harsh, but I worked at coffee shops and cafes from 16 until I finished college and this place is just subpar in my opinion. I do so wish they would get better thought, and maybe I'll sneak over without my husband out of desperation because unfortunately there are no other options in town. read more

Love this place. When we go to western Maine, we stay in a tiny house (check it out on Portland Pallet Work's website), and because it's off grid, we love coming here for wifi and a good sammy. It's got the progressive, supportive Portland vibe we've come to love so well as members of the queer foodie community. It's also a great spot to see what's happening locally, and to maybe just even make a new friend...They've also got a great selection of books to pick up and read at your leisure (if that's your kind of thing). read more

Many in the area prefer to call this establishment by it's well earned nickname: Cafe NoMind. What may be good food today may be a horrible gastro intestinal sickness the next. Just found this gem after an epic Sunday River trip. Needed good strong cappuccino and solid food....this place did both perfectly. Well worth the 2 miles out of the way. Calming and relaxing atmosphere .... chill hippies working the counter. read more

Great food, great coffee, friendly staff, and the fact we are have a business in the hiker community, the decor and dish names really hit home. Unfortunately, this is completely a "self-serve" restaraunt and should not even have a credit card option for tipping..my companion unknowingly tipped generously. This is my go-to cafe! The food and beverages are great, and it is an adorable little place to have a Sunday morning breakfast. One thing I love about this place is that they are very unique. They also have wifi, Which is useful, and games, which are a ton of fun to play with the kids. Prices are very good. I recommend this comfy cafe. read more

Pancakes were excellent, but omelet was undercooked and raw. The staff was nice but the atmosphere was brought down by an extremely rude and obnoxious cook. She was throwing pans, swearing loudly and talking back to customers and being very rude to her fellow co-workers. Get rid of her and you have a 4-5 star cafe. read more

This cafe is really great and inviting. I come here almost every summer and they have great food and pretty fast service, even on a busy day. The only problem is the women working the counter are not that friendly and seem annoyed most of the time. besides that, the food and atmosphere are great, and I would definitely recommend coming here for breakfast. read more

Great place! Coffee was really good and so was the breakfast burrito. My son got an egg sandwich on Italian bread which was also great. This is the way a wick breakfast should be, not frozen egg patties. read more

There is not a breakfast/bruch/lunch/coffeehouse within 40 miles as good as Cafe Nomad. The best coffee outside of Portland, imaginative, healthy, tasty breakfast and lunch entrees, food that is prepared reasonably quickly and looks good. It has a coffeehouse vibe, friendly, unpretentious, has a nice bookcase to choose books from, permanent art plus regular art shows Frankly, the shows are uneven, but give them credit for trying. This place is simply outstanding. Went this morning, Killer dark roast, delicious breakfast sandwich and a relaxing spot to decompress. Go and you will not be disappointed.
