This review could be just for the waffles, they are by far and away, the best I've had while eating out. The coffee here is average at best, but that's not the point. Solid breakfast fare. I had the Greek omelette ($7) and partner had "a little something more" i.e. an English muffin with egg, sausage and bacon ($5.65). The food was good, but quite pricey for such a small amount. Not too many breakfast/brunch places in Stowe, so maybe that's why. We stumbled upon this place on our way out of town. We were needing to pick up some sandwiches for the road, and wow these were great. I had the #2 turkey sandwich and my husband hand the #1 roast beef sandwich. When we finally chowed down on them several hours later we were surprised by how amazing these simple sandwiches were. We bought their maple walnut cookie and loved it so much that we picked up three cookies on the way back to NY. We stayed at Green Mountain Inn recently, so I hit this place for breakfast twice as it's right next door. I can't say much about lunch, as I never tried the sandwiches, but the menu looked delicious. It's a deli style spot with a few tables, but I chose to carry out. I had the garden omelet in a wrap and it was very good. Big enough to split with someone in my opinion. Since it was so amazing, I went back another morning to get food for my husband and I, so we tried the standard bacon, egg, and cheese on an English and the homemade oatmeal with the works. The sandwich was ok, nothing special. I felt it needed a little more flavor and the English muffin was a bit stale. I was excited about the oatmeal, but it left something to be desired, still tasty though...especially the candied walnuts! The coffee was superb. I will definitely go back again for the breakfast wraps and to try lunch! Staff is also extremely friendly! read more

We stumbled across this sandwich and salad place while looking for a good lunch place today... I tried the black forest ham sandwich which came with a mango chutney .....was a bit skeptical at first ..but wow.. It was delicious.. The combination of the sweet chutney with the ham and lettuce was perfect. They have a large selection of soups, sandwiches and salads available.. Prices are reasonable as well. My friends and I came here on a Sunday at around 9:45AM and the place was packed. We all ordered some coffees/teas along with some sandwiches. Everyone thought that this was going to be a fast coffee run, but it all went downhill after we ordered. Due to COVID, they wanted everyone to go outside and wait in the front patio, which was fine. However, it took an hour to get our drinks. Notice here that I said drinks and not food, because for some weird reason, our food came out first and we finished all our sandwiches before even getting our drinks. This was also an issue for everyone around us, as we kept on asking the employees where our drinks were. I don't know if its the system that they're using or the lack of workers, but an hour for some coffee and tea is unacceptable. Eventually after asking a third time, I see the worker prepare us our drinks. The only reason why I'm not giving this a 1 star was that the sandwich was decent and the drink I got tasted good. read more

Placed an order online and received a notification that it was ready for pick up. Got there after receiving the notification and needed to wait 10 minutes and the drinks weren't even ready. Ordered two toasted bagels with cream cheese and two iced coffees. Somehow my total came to $18, and there's an additional $2 online ordering fee. Mediocre. Would not go back. Cafe on Main is our place to have lunch at in Stowe. It's small, just a little storefront with a few tables so I dread it getting fuller with more guests, but of course I have to support a place this good. Generally speaking, I am not a fan of soup, but I could easily live off their carrot ginger soup. Still, I am usually draw to their superlative BLT. It falls apart quick but it's perfect. I m a fan of both of their chicken salads even though I consider myself a chicken salad slob. As for their cookies, the maple walnut cookie is phenomenal. read more

We stumbled across this little place one weekend morning. Delicious coffee and sandwiches.

Do not go here. The cashier young girl, blonde, large with gages, was extremely rude. We ordered four things, she couldn't care less by hanging over the cash register, everything we said, she would stare at us among say what, after every sentence! It was like a joke out of a movie skit. She read back the order and only said two things and was inconvenienced that we had told her the order was missing half of the order. She then said try to say that she had said four things and so we tried to make small talk asking her where she was from and she just looked at us like we were absolute idiots. She then was wrong rise in the people behind us even asked why she was such a great evening. We paid she gave a dirty ass up and I was so cheerful to the people after us. People that came up to us after and said she was glaring at us. She refused to give me my receipt and we did not receive half of food as I did not have the receipt that she refused to give me, even though on our card charge showed the charge of $45 for obviously more than a soup and a salad but she would not give it to us! The dark haired lady then yelled into the store that they were fed up with everyone and were no longer doing sandwiches because they had a long day. Great menu options and very simple ordering process. Once we ordered we waited outside by the pick-up window. My husband had "A little something" with bacon and sausage. He was very impressed and would definitely order again! I had an everything bagel which was exactly what you'd expect. We both really enjoyed the coffee. Stumbled upon this small diner in downtown Stowe for lunch. Best chicken salad sandwich I've ever had--with fresh bread, cranberries, and honey mustard of all things! Great cinnamon muffins and white chocolate cranberry cookies, too. The staff was very welcoming and attentive! This is our favorite breakfast spot in Stowe. We usually stay in a nearby AirBNB or the Green Mountain Inn this place is conveniently located in town. The owner/chef is super friendly and very personable. Today I ordered the bacon, egg, and cheese on a brioche bun. He told me to take one bite and that he would be back with something to "spice things up". He gave me some house-made sweet pepper relish to lather on the bun. I took a bite and WOW was he right, it was so good that my wife put it all over her bagel with cream cheese. There's no better Cafe in Stowe, definitely stop by. read more

Came for breakfast with my husband while on vacation the other day. Our breakfast was great! Yummy breakfast potatoes, I highly recommend trying them. Grabbed two maple walnut cookies for the road, as I read in another review how good they are. WOW. I'm not sure I've ever had a more delicious cookie, no joke. I'm only giving 4 stars because while refilling my coffee, then my husband's coffee, then getting up once more to just add a splash to warm it up, the girl behind the counter says, "just so you know, coffee refills are $1.00" Really??? First of all, there is no sign that says that. Actually, there's no sign that lists the price of a cup of coffee to begin with.. I've never been anywhere where coffee didn't include refills. So I grabbed two dollars and handed them to her. Oh well. Other than that, I'd return here again if I was in town. read more

We stumbled across this cafe when we were inside Shaw's Store shopping. It was packed so we knew it had to be great food so we decided to wait. The service was very friendly, the staff was more than happy to assist us with their menu of specialty sandwiches, soups, etc.. We tried their famous grilled cheese sandwich made with Vermont Cheddar and some of their fresh baked cookies - all of it being delicious! This place is amazing. I've lived in Stowe nearly my entire life and have never been mostly because it gets so crowded on the weekend. After going today I can easily say this is the best sandwich shop in town. They serve those delicious, one of a kind sandwiches that have you wishing for more. The staff is nice, fast, and make really thick sandwiches. The owner is local and cares about the town and the people that live here all year around. It's why this place has gotten such liking from tourists. It really is authentic, delicious, and local food. I give Cafe on Main my highest recommend. read more

Traveling with 4 adults and 5 little girls and stayed in Stowe for a night and needed a quick breakfast. Decided on Cafe on Main and was very happy we did! Walked in and the first thing we were told was to first fill up with some coffee and he'd get the little girls orders going. He just knew we had a handful of a group (not easy traveling with 5 girls ages 8-12)...the coffee was just what I needed and it was very tasty coffee as well! We all quickly got our orders placed and didn't have to wait long for the food to come out piping hot. All of the girls had Belgium waffles with yummy Vermont syrup. Big servings, definitely could have shared meals. Adults orders omelets, eggs, and sandwiches. All very tasty and hit the spot. Took a coffee to go and got on our way. Service here gets an A++!! He was so friendly, cheerful, and helpful. Helped start off our day stress free! read more
