Yummy food (I am picky) and great to meet new, interesting, FUN people at the community table! I will return on my next trip to Santa Fe!

This is our first time in Santa Fe, NM and we heard this restaurant was the Place to go. We came on a Saturday and it was super busy but we were able to put our name on the list and they would text us when our table was ready. This allowed us to explore the plaza. This restaurant is cozy and therefore they have a community table and some private tables. I ordered the chile relleno which was super fresh and not spicy. The mild pepper was stuffed with cheese and onion with a jalapeño tomato salsa and more cheese. The gruyere potato cake was crispy and buttery! Delicious. My spouse got the bison burger which was huge but a touch rare for us. It came with a lot of cheese. The waffle chips were light, airy, and crispy! Excellent. The side he chose was the Tuscan kale salad. It was nicely dressed and really refreshing. I hadn't dined at Pasqual's in a long time and was looking forward to a great experience. I've got mixed reviews about the dinner we had there a couple of weeks ago. I don't generally like to leave less than stellar reviews, but when a meal is a disappointment, I think it's important to let the restaurant know where they fell short. Firstly, our appetizers were outstanding! Mexican style shrimp cocktail was fresh and delicious. The baked brie with two dipping sauces were also very good. I like pork and decided on the pork in achiote and Seville orange marinade wrapped in a banana leaf. While this sounds delish and unique, it was underwhelming and disappointing. The pork was shredded to the point it was unrecognized as meat. It was overly seasoned and the seasoning overpowered any flavor the meat may have had. The tortillas that came with the plate were dry and needed to be sent back to the kitchen. As a lover of tostones, I was excited to have them with my meal. They were soft and fell apart. They also were flavorless even with the crema drizzled on top. Not a tostone that deserved praise. Since my dinner companion paid for our meal, I was reluctant to complain and send the dish back but it was disappointing at best. I hope to have a better meal experience if I return again. read more

We showed up without a reservation at about 1 PM on a Thursday. We put in our name as the place was packed with patrons even at 1 PM. After about 25 minutes we were able to get a table. The space is pretty tight and funky. But the food is terrific! The Hall of Fame egg salad is aptly named. I can say it was probably the best egg salad sandwich that I've ever had. Part of the attraction is the house made bread that the egg salad is placed on. I also shared an epiphany salad with my wife. It had all sorts of unusual ingredients, including beets, and mango, along with macadamia nuts and mint flavored dressing. Very unusual, very delicious. They also have a store adjacent to the restaurant. We went up there and couldn't resist buying a chicken made out of leftover menus. read more

Four of us went to breakfast...no one came back hungry! So we started with Coffees, mineral water, an Amy's Hippy Dippy Green drink and picked our entrees. The inside of this quaint, well ran restaurant wasn't on our radar for breakfast, usually dinner. This breakfast was exceptionally well done. We order a Barbacoa and egg entree, a scrambled egg and pork bacon platter, a breakfast quesadilla with a side of turkey bacon, and a 3 egg option with pork bacon. All were presented well, perfectly cooked eggs and filling to the max. The Barbacoa was exemplary--tender shreds of beef, so flavorful and black beans and corn tortillas. Our server didn't miss a beat on anything...refills, errant fork, or the Chocolate Macaroons and fudge we finished with. Don't forget to buy a recipe book and/or t-shirt or bandanna on your way out. Tiny...understatement. Popular...no question. Food...delicious. Located on the outer rim of Plaza. We got there early-ish and the wait was already an hour and a half. Seating is limited but they do offer a community table that seats 10-12 strangers/parties. Once our time came up, we were seated pretty quickly. Got our orders in and food came out quickly as well. I love mole and there aren't many places that have it on the menu. It definitely has a kick but is very tasty. The sides were a jicama/orange slaw and rice. Ordered Mexican hot chocolate for my beverage which was equally delicious. Be prepared to wait but the wait is definitely worth it. read more

While the breakfast was great, I must rave about the Strawberry Shrub drink. It's like drinking a spicy strawberry.... And if that's perplexing, it should be. But I for one, would like to drink more spicy strawberries! The only warning I would give is that the menu can be challenging for children. This was my first visit to this lovely establishment. It was on Monday evening, December 9, 2024. We were a party of three. There is parking on the street and a lot nearby. We were greeted in a friendly fashion, and seated immediately. We chose to dine on the early side; it's busy and popular so if you come later, I would expect a wait. The decor is absolutely breathtaking. The menu is highly varied and creative. Each of our entrées was just outstanding. The lemon tart was a wonderful dessert. I visit this place just about every visit to Santa Fe. Why: Because Cafe Pasqual turns out consistently excellent New Mexican inspired meals. The place is small so in the evenings, you will need a reservation. We were fortunate enough to snag a place at the community table. We had a most delightful experience with 10 other interesting people who shared a love of food. The shrimp cocktail was exceptional, tender and bursting with flavors and served with freshly baked tortilla chips. The chicken mole was inspired by genius. Smoke salmon appetizer was fresh and delicious. Fresh mission figs with fresh goat cheese ended up being dessert and topped off one phenomenal meal. Service was attentive, helpful and efficient. This place has been a fave of mine for years and the quality remains high. Note that at lunch they don't take reservations and the wait can be long, though there's a gallery upstairs and plenty of stores nearby to check out. The art inside is eclectic and colorful and fun. I always try to sit at the community table as you may end up having awesome conversations with new friends. The farm salad with cilantro parsley papaya tomato is bright and fresh and surprising and herbal and truly fantastic. Then, the Red and green Chile smothered carne asada open and stacked enchilada with black beans and cilantro rice is just delicious. I ate every single bit off my plate. Run, don't walk. read more

Cafe Pasqual's hasn't changed much in the 20+ years I've been going there. And, that's a good thing! A small intimate little place just a block from the plaza, still turning out fine New Mexican cuisine. The menu is expansive, breakfast, lunch and dinner, something for everyone. Don't like to wait to be seated, no problem... give your name and telephone number to the host stand, and they'll text you when it's your turn. In the meantime, you can stroll the plaza or explore the surrounding stores. The only catch? You have to get there within about 5-6 minutes of receiving the text or they'll pass you up on the waiting list. And they're serious about that! This visit was just a quick bite before an event during the Wine and Chili Fiesta held at the end of September every year. A grand event if wine festivals are your kind of thing. We had some iced tea and enjoyed the Beef Cheek Barbacoa and Jack Quesadilla... Deelish! Super portion, as are all of CP's dishes. Cooked to perfection and accompanied with some of the cafe's legendary salsa: super fresh, a little heat, and available for purchase by the pint. A quick stop for us today, but well worth the time and effort to visit this iconic restaurant in Santa Fe, NM! Service is good, prices are reasonable, and it's just a fun place to be. Popular spot in downtown Santa Fe - we came in for lunch on a Saturday, which was about a 45 minute wait (they offer communal tables too, which might get you seated faster). The Christmas enchiladas with sunny side up eggs were phenomenal - perfectly cooked and the chile sauces had the perfect amount of kick. Over Promised and Under Delivered. Can't fault the menu choices and the atmosphere, but this doesn't make up for poorly prepared food that you are paying a premium for. The $69 ribeye steak we had was excessively greasy and unpleasantly oily to the point of ruining the flavor, and having left it, the manager did offer some deserts, which we politely declined assuming the $69 would not be added to the overall bill - but no, we had to pay for something that was inedible. The icing on the cake was when one of us asked for a fourth drink, we were told they had a 3 drink policy and wouldn't serve us. Would have been better if they were honest and said we need the table. In summary, they appear to be living off a reputation that sets high prices but in our case failed to justify. We won't be back. read more

The food, ambiance, and service were excellent. We were visiting during Christmas week, and we made a reservation a couple of weeks before coming to Santa Fe. We enjoyed meeting the people at the tables on either side of us. The community table looked lively and fun as well. I had the mole enchiladas, and my husband had the chicken enchiladas. Big servings, so we took some back to our Airbnb to have the next day. We also bought the box of cookies to take with us, and nibbled on them during our stay! We drove so very far just to eat here. And we will do it again. The menu is terrible to read, it's bright and not curated and has a lot of things all thrown together. My advice, look ahead of time and come with a game plan. But, it seems that no matter what you order it's amazing! So maybe you can just put your finger on something and just eat that. We had the corn mole pancakes and the smoked salmon potato cakes. We had had the pancakes once before so we know what we were getting into. And drove a few hundred miles to get them. And will again! The smoked salmon and Gruyere potato cakes were the star of the show this time because we didn't know what to expect. Expect a wait. It's cozy. Cafe Pasqual's was hands down the best meal I had while on my trip to Santa Fe. My friend and I had tried to go the night before based on the positive reviews and festive decor, but they were reserved for the rest of the eventing. We booked a reservation for two nights later, a Sunday, and it turned out to be a great place to enjoy our last dinner in Santa Fe. When we walked into Pasqual's, the first thing we noticed was the brightly colored decor and warm atmosphere. We were greeted and seated right away. The restaurant was pretty packed for 7:30 on a Sunday night. We enjoyed the nut and cheese brittle that they had waiting for us, and we ordered a couple of house margaritas. The margaritas were very balanced and neatly served. We started with the warm olive appetizer with grilled bread and cheese. It was delicious. The portion was very generous. I probably could have eaten that on its own for lunch. For dinner I had the Chicken Paillard, which was a very slightly breaded, garlic chicken with capers served with mashed potatoes and beans. It was also delicious, and the portion was so generous that I couldn't finish. My friend had the evening special, the oxtail stew. I tried her stew and it was very tender with lots of flavor. Service was great all night. They checked in with us regularly and filled our waters constantly. It seemed that there was a manager walking through and making sure everyone was happy.... as it should be. The serving dishes were cute, and I noticed that they sell them as well as a restaurant cookbook. It seemed that some of the art on the wall was for sale too. I imagine desserts would have been amazing, but we had already eaten plenty. I know that Pasqual's is known for brunch, so whatever meal you want, I recommend you go to Pasqual's while visiting Santa Fe. read more

Such a lovely experience! My boyfriend and I came for dinner. We told our server it was our anniversary and he came by a few minutes later to shower us with heart shaped confetti! We started with the wild shrimp cocktail which was fresh + refreshing, and the pomelo salad, which was a surprise winner. I got the Durango omelette with Xmas chile sauce. The omelette was delicious and huge - could have been split between two people. Between the red and green chile, I'm definitely more of a fan of the green, it's milder. The dish even came with tortillas and jam (apparently you put the jam on the tortillas). My friends also really liked the chile relleno we got on the side. The menu here has so many options it feels like we barely scratched the surface, but everyone really enjoyed the meal so it's safe to say the food will probably be good no matter what on their extensive menu you choose to try. read more

We were in Sante Fe for 5 days and this lunch was our most expensive meal (including celebratory dinners blocks away). The food itself was delicious and service was very kind.
