Friends recommended this place and it did not disappoint. We sat on the patio, great evening. Service good. Margaritas were good and went well with the stuffed fried jalapeños. Next we tried the table prepared guacamole. Very good. After that, we were kind of full so we split the seafood enchiladas. Our friends split the crab and we split the shrimp. So many good places to eat in SF.

Went early to dinner while in town. Such a cute establishment. We sat outside because the weather was so nice. We ordered the green chile stew, table side elote and enchiladas. The drinks, food and service were good. I'd like to go back and try other items on the menu the next time I visit.

We really enjoyed the ambiance, it was quiet, maybe even a little too quiet, perfect for a relaxed evening. The service was excellent. Our waiter and the staff were attentive, took time to answer all our questions, and offered helpful recommendations based on our preferences. The food was quite good. Santa Fe has plenty of dining options, but I think this spot will continue to stand out with its bold flavors and unique offerings. As someone from the land of Tex-Mex, I sometimes struggle with New Mexican cuisine, but I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner. My wife loved her dish as well. The mole enchiladas were especially delicious, and the margaritas were perfectly balanced, not too sweet, not too bitter.

Charming family owned restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating, ideal for dinner with a small to medium sized group. The drinks are very good, food is excellent, and service is highly personalized. All of the owner's recommendations were top notch - we ate like kings! Prices are also reasonable. We had a delightful time.

Casa Chamayo is truly a wonderful dining experience!! For years my Dtr and I, I've made it a point to stop here whenever traveling to and from Colorado to visit my dad, and every visit reminds me why I keep coming back. The care, warmth, and genuine attention from both the employees and the owner have always been remarkable. Their saying, "leave as family," couldn't be more accurate--because that's exactly how the staff makes you feel every single time. On this visit, I had the pleasure of meeting the chef's wife, who was incredibly hospitable and made our meal feel like an A++ experience. I usually come with my daughter, but I'm always proud to introduce friends and family to the delicious cuisine and wonderful atmosphere at Casa Chamayo. A special thank-you to Hamilton "Hami," who is new to us but immediately impressed with his friendly and welcoming personality. Keep doing what you're doing--your hard work and heart are truly appreciated!

We joined relatives here near the end of our cross-country road trip, and began with Tableside Guacamole and Tortilla Chips, Queso Fundido, Elote, and Chicken Tortilla Soup. The hot soup was very good, the Elote very tasty, the Chips fine with mild Guac, and Queso Fundido with Mushrooms good. But the soup left some spice in my throat and spice in the nose, undoubtedly from Chili Peppers and Cayenne Pepper included in the broth. For, this was Northern New Mexican cuisine which as I experienced it is much more fiery than purely Mexican food. Diane ordered a Shrimp Quesadilla but initially was presented with a plain Cheese Quesadilla. She received a Shrimp Quesadilla on the second try but the amount of shrimp included was skimpy. Our relatives enjoyed Fajitas, and my unusual choice of Chile En Nogada, with a Fire Roasted Pablano Pepper stuffed with Ground Angus Beef, pomegranate seeds, raisins, toasted almonds, onions, pears, apple and apricots covered in a Walnut Cream Sauce with Jerez (Spanish sherry) served with Mexican Rice and Beans was certainly interesting and not unpleasant. But the Chicken Tortilla Soup clutched my throat, and caused me to lose my voice momentarily; the Salsa provided heated my gut; and the Poblano Pepper attacked my chest. It was a very good authentic New Mexican dinner which prompted me to down two very good scoops of Vanilla Bean Ice Cream at meal's end to soothe my gut. Service was good, and ambiance great with old world Mexico sombrero and serape charm.

We came here for lunch after getting recommendations from a friend and I'm so glad we took her advice. Chef Joaquin is amazing! We had lunch on a Friday afternoon sampling many of the dishes he recommended including the Tableside Elote, (watch my video below), Posole Roho, and Blue Corn Huarache. Each dish was a complex mixture of heavenly flavors carefully curated from the best ingredients. Certainly this was one of the most memorable and satisfying meals in a long time. I will always remember this special meal. With the restaurant not being especially busy during our visit, he spent quite a bit of time talking to us about the history of the restaurant and his family. Wonderful stories about this place. Recommend coming here for lunch as it is less crowded than dinner if you want to chat up Joaquin. The deserts are not to be missed either. There are a number of delightful treats to end your meal. We savored the Tres Leches Cake, Grandma Titia's Pastelitos, and then bought a couple Biscochitos to take home and have with coffee in the morning. Parking can be difficult in the area, mostly have to find a spot on the street.

Had the BEST bite of food I've had in a while. Their signature dish is phenomenal. Enjoyed the table side guac though it's expensive for 18. Wonderful service. Warm and inviting atmosphere. Wonderful for families, a date night, or a celebration. Patio and indoor dining. I prefer indoor because the tables on the patio are close together.

My husband and I were staying right next-door at the Inn at Vanessie, and we walked over our first night to have dinner here. We absolutely love it! The ambience was so adorable and the food was excellent! We ordered three brisket tacos that were dipped in an incredible broth and Chili Relleno stuffed with ground beef and talked with an amazing brandy walnut sauce. Order the chips and salsa and the salsa was incredible. The next time we are visiting Santa Fe again will definitely go back!

My boyfriend and I have really close friends who are from and visit Santa Fe and they took us to Casa Chimayo and it was absolutely fantastic. The interior was very authentic to the Pueblo style but still really tastefully done. We really wanted the New Mexican cuisine experience and we were blown away. Their menu was large and honestly, I had such a hard time trying to narrow down to just one option. Their prices are mid to high so this is more of a fancy experience but we found the quality really delivered. I ended up getting the duck mole and we did the table side guacamole and elote. I ordered the blood orange margarita and I'll warn, it was so yummy you couldn't taste the alcohol. John ordered the frozen margarita and sangria swirl - which we heard is a New Mexican classic. Our waitress was great. Attentive and knowledgeable about everything on the menu. She was a gem.

We stop be here every time we go through Santa Fe!! Kevin was amazing! We always get the table side guacamole and emote to start. It's gone within 5 mins. The blood orange margarita is to die for and so is the enchiladas and bison short rib! You can't go wrong with anything on this menu! Great place tucked into a cozy area!

Chile en nogada, a unique and delicious dish
Shannon M.

This was leveled up Mexican food in a still-casual environment. The three of us who had this meal really enjoyed the experience. The food was all excellent and the servers helpful and friendly. Our appetizers, including the elote made at table size and the pan of stretchy queso fundido served with tortillas, were a delicious start. For the entree I ordered something I can't usually get at our local Mexican restaurants: the Chile En Nogada, a poblano pepper stuffed with ground beef, apple, apricot, pear, raisin, and pinon, and topped with a walnut cream sauce and a sprinkling of pomegranate seeds. It was a deft balance between the hearty filling and the elegance of the silky sauce and jewel-like pomegranate seed topping. Just a beautiful dish. There are indoor or outdoor dining options, and it's convenient to the Railyard and not far from the Plaza (we walked from our hotel). Highly recommended.

Amazing food and service! The owner was so kind and the rellenos were delicious! The salsa was heavenly! 5 stars!!!

When I arrived, I originally wanted to visit the restaurant, which was closed for the week due to a family emergency. So I presented to the open seating bar. Was ignored a long time. Got up to go to the bar and someone else stole my table. Took a long time to be acknowledged by the bar tender and finally made an order. Took quite a while to get it. Things got better when a bar seat opened up and I moved to the bar. But keep in mind, a different bar tender pretty much took over and kept my drinks flowing. That first bar tender could not hang, demonstrating poor time management skills and appeared to be moving slowly. The second bar tender, I think his name is Hector, really turned things around for me. I visited Secreto (another hotel based outfit, in the Hotel St. Francis) because they are supposed to be a "cocktail experience," boasting "garden to glass" cocktails. Dark wood and southwestern palate for decor. I had: Smoked sage margarita: flagship drink, smoked washed premium margarita (super herbal) Ghost ranch reverie: Tequila with peach, apricot shrub, lemon, seltzer, smoked rosemary (light, not too sweet, an "homage to the passionate artists of the southwest) Madonna of the Mesa: tequila blanco, pomegranate, mouth herbs, lemon, rose water (soft and balanced) Secret garden: basil infused gin gimlet with lime and chomilre infused honey. "Botanical crispiness meets honeyed serenity." I liked the basil, but the honey wasn't my thing. But a good cocktail. Again, drinks were good. On a Thursday afternoon, it was initially crowded and the initial service was terrible. But Hector saved the day.

Definitely the best bar we visited in Santa Fe…read more When we arrived there was still seating at the bar so we promptly sat ourselves there. We ordered a charcuterie and cheese board which was much larger than expected and had plenty of local options. I started with a See You At Dusk, which was a combo of Melleti, souchu, balasmic, ginger and walnut. I found it to be a very flavorful drink that paired well with the board. I next tried a Bywater which was rum, falernum, genepy and Averna. It was a very deep and rich cocktail which I also enjoyed. The bartender was very friendly and offered us small samples of a few unusual items they stock. Overall a very fun experience.

Did tears of certainty spark his eyes as he sat under those moody lights, standing firm that yes So Long, See You Tomorrow needs not one or two but three different types of sesame- what did he feel? What did intend to bankroll? And the sickest joke of all- the Bellow's Breath- a bone broth mocktail like some crystal cup of soup. Was that beverage intended to pogo stick my friend off the proverbial wagon into the depths of glugging Long Island ice teas just to feel something familiar again? Because it did. And my heart aches for that friend but I too would lose my mind if I were to stare into such a void and see whatever it is that stares back. Was this menu the vision of a team- a baffling Frankenweenie invented by committee- or the secret wish of one troubled mind? I see it all so clearly and yet I can't help but doubt my own memory. That many beets on such an expensive cocktail menu? Who salts blueberries? This total disregard for the green chile cult that runs this city like a delicious cabal? Had no drink technician ever walked from front door to car, inhaled the piñon perfumed air outside and thought, I can do something with that. I don't know what happened and I don't think I ever will but I know I did not like it. Also the bartenders were vacant and so confused that human beings wanted to order cocktails in a cocktail bar.

Apparently moles aren't all dark chocolate spicy sauces ... ?!?? Loved the education and samples. I'm typically not a mole fan, but they were fun to try. We had the octopus but to me the sauce was too oily. The actual octopus was tender and delicious. Also had the duck skin tacos which were more of a minced duck meat taco and delish. The 5 stars go for impeccable service and the SOUP. This soup is not to be missed. Nothing on paper makes me think it should work but it totally does. It's a big lump of blue crap topped with creamy poblano pepper soup with whipped cream and amaretto and then topped with a spicy kick. Someone said cinnamon but for me it tasted more like hot red chili powder. Sounds incredibly weird but it was the best dish I've had in forever. My husband loved the pork dishes he tried, including the pork belly and the pork with your choice of mole. I agree that they did a nice job with the pork. The Azteca (yellow fin tuna crudite) was tasty, but a bit saucy and a little too salty. The Soup de Amor is a must get! And if you are a fan of tequila, they do flights with sangrita. He really seemed to care that we were comfortable. In fact, most of the negative reviews complain that it was low lit and quiet and only one bartender. I found these things the most attractive. They focus on craft cocktails with seasonal ingredients. I visited late in the night after other stops at Secreto and Coyote Cafe, so I was flagging a bit. I can't even remember what I ordered, but both cocktails were great. Very herbal and complex. They have herbal cocktails, savory cocktails, spicy too.
