We shared Pablo's Quesadilla and a cup of the chilled sweet and spicy carrot soup. The soup was not spicy and it was loaded with flavor. The quesadilla had shredded chicken, asadero cheese and cilantro. We asked for plain mango versus the mango salsa because I didn't want the extra heat. It also came with slices of watermelon sprinkled with feta cheese. The quesadilla was amazing and the mango was an excellent compliment along with the watermelon. What a delightful 1st night introduction to Santa Fe! This was my first time eating squash blossoms and I can officially say I'm a fan - more please! The tomato sauce under the squash blossoms created a good, not-too-acidic complement to the ricotta stuffed blossoms. My friend and I shared the Pan Seared Arctic Char and it was divine! We went and thought it was trying to be something it isn't. Their mole missed the mark. Tasted a little different and it would've been better if they stuck to traditional. Same goes for the Tamale. It's vegetarian and lacked any sort of flavor. The complimentary seeded Parmesan they give each table came across like bird food; Very strange and it didn't go well with the menu. Ordered scallops and it had to be the smallest portion I've ever seen. Almost the size of peanut M&Ms. The Plato Supremo had very tender steak, the corn torte was excellent, and fresh vegetables. The ribeye was cooked perfectly but the collard greens had a strange flavor to them; Not traditional collard greens. This place gets it right on the traditional stuff but I think someone got carried away making the menu when it comes to adding their own twist to things; The overly unique stuff just didn't work for us. A unique menu which represented the food well, The food was beautifully presented, was delicious, and this place has a great atmosphere. My daughter and I went here for breakfast. When we walked in, we were greeted by two men who asked if they could help us. We said do you have a table for two? They looked at me in a vaguely uncomfortable way and said yes, we will have a table for two in about 10 minutes. He motioned to a table in the café and said, those people will be leaving soon. The man got my name and number and told me that they will text me very soon. They never texted me. I walked back and saw that they were seating a bunch of white guests. Reservations are definitely recommended at this beloved Santa Fe institution - though you will have to call to make one. Deservedly so. We were walking around downtown Santa Fe and received a recommendation to have dinner at Cafe Pasqual's. When we arrived the restaurant was busy, and we were asked if we had reservations. We had not, so we turned to go. The gentleman at the front stopped us and looked around the room, kindly finding us a small table with 2 chairs which we were happy to take. We ordered a panko-crusted chicken with broccolini and garlic mashed potatoes and a chorizo tofu enchilada with cornbread and black beans. The food was delicious, tasty, and clearly made with care. We finished our dinner with 2 of their homemade shakes- one a medjool, and the other a strawberry marscapone. I highly recommend because the service is fantastic, and the food is marvelous. Pasqual's is legendary In Santa Fe. There's always a line waiting to get in. The secret is to ask for the Community Table, which I did as a single. Waited about 6 minutes. I had the orange avocado salad which has a sweetish dressing. I must have liked it because I ate every leaf. The food was good and it was a nice taste of New Mexican food on our first day in town. I got the corn cakes, which come with red Chile, mole, and maple syrup; you're supposed to smother the cakes in all three and it makes for a sweet and sour taste. Very unique and hearty! The bacon was very flavorful, thick and crispy. The decor was bright and colorful, with murals on the walls and paper banners reaching across the room. A few notes on accessibility from a disabled person: this is in an old building, and at least some of the seating was in a raised area with steps that went up to it. The bathroom would be very difficult to access if you had a rollater or wheelchair as a very narrow hall led to the small room. With my cane I was okay. Small place, lots of people. Took our seat at the community table and got the menu. Everything sounds good - hard to choose. But we weren't the only ones at the table having to make a tough choice. We settled on the Carne Asada Plate - nice amount of meat, not overdone. Onions, bell pepper and roasted jalepeño. and the Mole Enchiladas - the mole, wasn't sweet(different than we're used to) & spicy. The chicken was moist. It was a good meal & worth the wait.
