Walking past here on Friday and Saturday morning, the line was CRAZY long by 8:30AM... However, it is WORTH IT. It was so good. The green chili was on point. And the calabacitas was perfection, because it wasn't too heavy, and very fresh. The coffee was strong, and unlimited. And the service was very friendly! We had the Atrisco plate and stuffed sopaipillas of ground beef and beans, both covered with red and green chile. The green sauce wasn't too spicy, but it was full of flavor. I'd recommend asking for the bologna to be crisped up, though, the flavor was great but it needed more texture. We also ordered the blue corn piñon pancakes full stack of 3. They were unique, worth a try but probably a one-and-done dish personally. More earthy and hearty texture than regular pancakes, savory flavor with a blue hue, and the piñons gave it a fun crunch. The maple syrup however was not a good quality, too sugary vs maple, which affected the overall dish's taste. The atmosphere is decent, and the service was friendly. Waited about 5 min for a table at 10:00am Friday. Overall I'd recommend Tia Sophia's, their breakfast burrito was excellent so definitely order it! read more

Went for lunch on a weekend and it was surprisingly not very busy, so we sat at the front. Servers were very friendly and prompt - everything we got was very flavorful, and we were happy to get to try their sopapillas! We asked locals and visitors, the best place for breakfast and Tia Sophia's was the answer. While we were looking at the menu, we were seeing burrito's the size of our heads, coming out of the kitchen. We asked the waitress if handhelds were smaller and she said "oh, yes!". 4 of us ordered handhelds with various types of meat and one vegetarian. They arrived about the size of half a head. Still huge. Burrito's not folded on the ends. Loaded with meat, eggs, potatoes and cheese. They were so very good! I ended up opening mine up to eat the inside because it was really, really filling. This is a Santa Fe classic! We eat here every time we come to visit and it never disappoints. The red chile is one of my favorites and I love the traditional New Mexican style flat enchiladas. We dropped by here for breakfast. They were busy but very efficient. Got a number and waited briefly. We're seated in about 5-10 min. This place got the old cozy feel to it. Kids had some options around. They didn't have potatoes (only hashbrowns). So my older one got dry cereal (they only had corn flakes) with milk. Younger one got the pancakes. Loved it so much! We came for breakfast on Labor Day and you can see that it's a hot spot in town. Our friend, who recommended the spot, arrived early and grabbed us a table (around 8am), but by the time we left around 9am, there was a big crowd waiting outside. The restaurant itself is a decent size, with more space in the back than you'd expect, and it has a classic breakfast place vibe. I ordered the bacon breakfast burrito with Christmas style sauce, and it was sooooo good! Definitely a fork and knife burrito since both ends are open/ The flavors of the chili together were spot on, hearty for the green, smoky for the red, and feels like a New Mexico breakfast. The portion was also generous, I definitely didn't finish my food and the glass of orange juice was big! Our waitress was funny and kind and kept things moving smoothly despite how busy it was. Tia Sofias is a delicious spot for breakfast and lunch. We were greeted and seated during the lunch rush and felt welcomed and well taken care of from start to finish. With honey on the table, our server took our order and brought hot sopapillas to start. We're accustomed to having sopapillas for dessert, but here, you can have this rare and delightful treat before your meal, during and after. So we did! Wow! Sopapillas are served piping hot, crispy crust, pillowy soft inside, thick enough to support a generous pour of honey. We decided that it was OK to get sticky and enjoyed every bite! We love the NM decor and the gallery of famous cartoonist Ricardo Caté is a great tribute to his work and funny! Hubby chowed down on his enchiladas, loved the green hatch Chile sauce, beans and moist, flavorful, rice. My Chile rellenos were SO good! I love the thick fluffy batter, rich hatch Chile sauce. A friend and I decided we must go a little out of our way to try this because of that Reply All episode (iykyk). The line/wait was long for lunch (it made us all the more excited tbh), but for a party of 2 it was only exactly 20 min (which was a crazy short wait, just enough to peek into the cathedral nearby) compared to some of our fellow comrades-in-waiting. We were seated in a cute private feeling booth along the wall and we're presented the vast menu (and there are vegetarian options!) We got 3 dishes for two people which was a mistake, we should've stuck with 2 for 2, because maaan the portion sizes were ridiculous (in the best way). Carl makes Tia Sophia's so iconic. We love Carl and all his recommendations, stories, etc. I'm so glad we came here. The food is awesome and I highly recommend the stew!! I forget the name of it but it is so good. We also had their homemade sopapillias, enchiladas, stuffed sopapillias etc. Dined here twice specifically for their lunch menu. The Christmas is the way to go, the green is nice but omg that red salsa is iconic. Old school super casual establishment. No need to get super dressed up or anything. If there were more than 5 stars I'd go for it. We've been to Santa Fe twice and we can't miss a breakfast at Tia Sophia's. Last time we dined I had pork stew (pozole) with 2 beautifully cooked eggs over light on top. This time I had the cheese enchiladas with 2 perfectly cooked eggs on top again. They offer red, green or Christmas sauce on top. The red is not as spicy so I went for red. It had a pleasant amount of heat and the sauce was deep, rich and flavorful. I tasted the green from my husband's plate, it's ok, he loves me! And it was also delicious I could have handled it. It was chunkier with small pieces of pepper bopping around. Delicious. The atmosphere is small and warmly lit with skylight running the length of the dining room. It's charming and packed with locals on a Tuesday morning non peak season. The atmosphere, staff and breakfast just feels like a warm hug!! There was excitement in the air this morning, a NYT food reviewer stopped in for breakfast shortly before us. So we stopped and had a chat with second generation owner, Nick who was working breakfast along with his staff. We learned that Tia Sophia's just added a second location in Roswell. I ordered a breakfast burrito with sausage that came out immediately. I was disappointed to see it had whole patties of sausage in it making it a little awkward to eat. After taking three bites of our food a busser rolled a cart right next to our table and started clearing cups and dishes from the surrounding tables. Not exactly a relaxing atmosphere -quite the opposite actually-it made us feel even more rushed than we did when ordering. We were still eating when the waitress dropped the check on our table. Overall the food was okay but we wouldn't have even sat down had we known they were closing and we'd be rushed. Wish the host said something when we walked in.
