When we arrived we went inside and requested outdoor seating. We were quickly sat, but unfortunately were left for 15 minutes without being greeted or offered water. After 15 minutes I had to get up on go in and tell an employee at the counter that no one had been out to help us since we'd been seated. She was slightly apologetic and said she'd send someone over. This wait was odd considering there were others being waited on close by, so I'm not sure how we were overlooked for so long. I remember coming here for fancy meals when I was growing up, and it was so awesome to come back while visiting Indy. The vibe is awesome -- modern and clean and French with tons of airy windows. There's a patio for when the weather is nice. There's always a wait, it seems like, but it's worth it (and maybe you can squeeze in at the bar!). Breakfast all day, and some tasty lunch options as well. A self service coffee bar. I think everything I've eaten here is delicious. The broken yolk sandwiches are perfection. The omelets are perfectly cooked without any browning on the outside. They used to make duck fat fries but we were super excited to discover that they're vegetarian now -- and still just as delicious! There's plenty of free parking at Clay Terrace. The last time I was at Cafe Patachou was 5 years ago. Today I am back in Carmel, Indiana and decided to return to have my favorite breakfast dish called Cuban Breakfast. It was as good as I remembered but the portion size is definitely much smaller. My friend ordered the French Toast which was cold, sugared toast - Please don't order it. Our server was Carla H, a very pleasant lady but service was a little slow even though there weren't many customers so early in the morning. Cafe Patachou, specially this location, is always a go-to for me! Weekends tend to be quite busy, but I never feel that I've had to waste more than 10-15 minutes for an open table. The staff is consistently friendly and very hospitable, and the atmosphere is absolutely beautiful (A perfect photo op). Being a coffee lover, Cafe Patachou serves some of my favorite and rotates between specialty flavors. My absolute favorite are the blueberry and chocolate raspberry. I find it difficult to believe that I hadn't been to Cafe Patachou before now, but it will forever be a staple after trying the Cuban Breakfast. I think this is the only time I have eaten something so good at a restaurant that I am determined to recreate it at home. My boyfriend had an omelette that was very good as well, but we both agreed that the Cuban Breakfast will be our go-to. We put our name in around noon on a Saturday and waited almost an hour. It was worth the wait, but this definitely isn't a quick dining experience. That said, the service was great despite it being quite busy. If you have to wait for a table, check out the coffee shop next door while you do - it's one of my favorites as well. We had brunch here on a Sunday morning. Initially I thought we were a party of 4, which turned in to 10. I felt terrible but the hostess and staff were very accommodating in changing our table up for more people and fitting us in. Self serve coffee was a welcome addition while we waited. My only gripe is the coffee is $4 a cup. While you can refill it as often as you want, that's still pretty pricey for plain coffee. The rest of the menu was priced fairly for the quality and ingredients. I had the Cuban breakfast which I loved. I also shared my bf's croissant waffles- awesome as well. I've been looking forward to visiting Patachou for almost two years. Is that sad? Maybe a little. But I'm telling you that so you know that this was a highly anticipated visit. Unfortunately, I had my heart set on the gluten free waffle, but it's not dairy free as well so I couldn't have it. I'm not sure if they can sub whatever dairy's in it to something else or not -- I was tired and hungry and didn't feel like trying to have that conversation above the noise of the Saturday brunch crowd. So instead of the waffle, I ordered the green goddess salad with the house vinaigrette. I opted to have them toss it with the dressing on. It came out beautifully with just the right amount of dressing. I liked how they chopped everything up in the salad, and the apple slices were the perfect topping. I thoroughly enjoyed my salad, even though it wasn't a waffle. ;) The food and service were both good. It was very crowded -- signs of a great brunch spot -- so it was a bit loud. But other than that, I had a great experience. I've been to this location twice, and the most recent time was for my dad's birthday last week. I ordered the Cuban Breakfast and asked for sausage links on it. The flavor was pretty bland but it wasn't anything some sriracha couldn't fix. My parents both ordered coffee and the server was very attentive and provided refills frequently. Once everyone was done ordering, the server also asked us if we had any allergies that the chef had to be aware of and I thought that was pretty neat. Physical menus aren't available because of the COVID-19 pandemic so instead they have QR codes available on the table which allow you to look at the menu on your phone. They used to have a self service coffee bar but that isn't available anymore. Another thing that's different is that instead of bringing you bottles of sauces like sriracha or ketchup they bring the sauces to you in a small, personal dish. All in all, service is great and employees are very kind and attentive. The food isn't my favorite but that's simply personal preference as I tend to gravitate to bold flavors. read more

Since it's at clay terrace I went shopping 40 minutes before lunch; I loved it! A relaxing lunch. We were able to have a meaningful conversation, street noise was not loud and other tables not too close. Curious what dining inside would be. I had chicken salad on arugula with a slice of toast. On the day after Christmas, when the family has spent too much time together confined in the same house, Cafe Patachou is the natural solution. We opted for this location instead of the one closer to my sister-in-law's house because it's a bit larger. Our group of seven was optimistic about getting a table and were told it would be a 45 minute wait. As luck would have it, the largest group ahead of us on the wait list had dipped out so we were seated almost immediately. It was our good fortune that it was a large table for eight available, as several smaller groups were still waiting. Service was excellent. Our server was kind and engaging without being intrusive. She chatted with my three-year-old nephew about PawPatrol when she saw his toys scattered across the table. She kept the meal moving without rushing us, which was appreciated. I had the Overachiever, my standard Patachou order -- omelette with bacon, white cheddar, and horseradish. It never disappoints. The cinnamon toast on the side was just as magical as I remembered. Everyone else ordered different omelettes and every plate was clean when we left. The serve-yourself coffee is a bit odd in this location because it's in a high traffic area. I imagine on most days it's not an issue but with how busy the restaurant was, it was congested and difficult to navigate. I ordered online and picked up on my way home from a long run. Let me first start with the food! I ordered the avocado broken yoke sandwich. It was delicious! It wasn't that warm due to the cold walk home, but 30 seconds in the microwave helped. Regardless, the sandwich was wonderful. I substituted fruit for the arugula salad. The fruit was a mix of pineapple, strawberries, and blueberries. Lastly, I splurged on the $9 coconut layer cake. Don't get me wrong, the cake was large and it was good, but I probably would not get it again. It was not super fresh and not amazing. For the price, I didn't think it was worth it. Overall, I would give 5 stars for the food. My 1 start deduction is due to the website and online ordering. I had a gift card and could not use it in the online system, then since I already paid, I couldn't redo it once I got there to pickup my food. Also, there is a spot for "other allergy" but not a comment section. I wanted to note my mango and melon allergy, since that could have been in the mixed fruit, but it wasn't available. I came here this morning feeling very nervous and I was just diagnosed with allergies to milk, wheat, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, and more. I have been to this location before and they always went out of their way to accommodate. This was my first time eating out since my diagnosis, and I had a great experience. I was able to find the ingredients for the gluten free bread online and confirm I could eat it safely. I ordered an omelette with no butter and gluten free toast with no butter and it was a great meal. Our server was so nice as well and made me feel so welcome and happy. We had to run down to Indy for some business and looked for a brunch place ... fell upon Cafe Patachou and thought it quite the find. This is a chain of sorts, and they have three of them in and around Indy ... we were at the one in Carmel on Clay Terrace Blvd. just north of Indy. This place is sort of like a Panera on steroids - much bigger menu selection and great coffee in a sit down establishment. If you just want a pastry - ok, if you want eggs and stuff - ok, if you want a slightly quirkier offering - they have those too. We had the Simple Broken Yolk (4-star stuff ... 2 eggs, white cheddar cheese, and slices of avocado), and the 2 scrambled and bacon (4 star stuff again ... and this for just eggs and bacon ... asked for the bacon crispy and it was, even shattered when touched - very nice). Coffee was excellent (although it will grow hair on places you may not want, but it is hearty) and is served from a serve-yourself coffee bar ... get it yourself, get what you want, and make it like you like it (5-star loved it). All-in-all we really liked this place. High ceilings bring airy feelings, and tall windows bring sunny exposures. Service was exceptionally friendly and on-point.
