We were seated with no problem at all. A group of 3 were seated minutes after we were. Usually our waitress comes over pretty quickly. The place wasn't crowded so we were surprised no one had come over to us. After about 10 minutes the hostess walked by and I called her over. At this same time we noticed the group of 3 was being attended to. I let the hostess know no one had come over. She said the waitress attending the party of 3 would probably' be with us next. I let her know we were there first. She then asked for our drink order. After another 5 minute or more wait, the waitress did come to us. This was an unusual experience as our service is normally superb. In the end the food was great, our waitress apologized several times and we had a good breakfast. Servers were very friendly and so was the waitstaff, I want to make it clear my low rating is based on food quality and pricing alone. Portions are incredibly small, 2 eggs and a handful of potatoes will run you $13. Diabolical. So not only (by my math) is it roughly a 1300% mark up for the product, let's just way overestimate and say 600% to include overhead/labor/ect.the food was under cooked. We love this place for breakfast. A 'one-off' experience today . Seems that the kitchen was having a bad day. Over medium eggs were over hard. Kajifa cherry crepes came out with fewer cherries than usual and watery sauce. Service, as always was great! Drinks were kept full. Came here for brunch for the first time with friends and had a great experience. We were immediately greeted and seated, and the brunch atmosphere was really nice. A friend recommended the Dutch baby , and it was delicious, though a bit eggy for my personal taste. My husband absolutely loved it. I ordered the country fried steak with eggs and it was excellent. Prices are a little on the higher side, but the service truly stood out. I accidentally left my purse behind and didn't realize until after they had closed. Their pancakes are good. The table didn't look completely clean. The syrup container that the server brought with the pancakes was sticky. The service was bad. I have been going to The Original Pancake House since I was a child. I was fortunate enough to have one in my hometown, and whenever I have time and am in a city I don't know well I look for one. Why go? The food is the best. The absolute best quality you will get for breakfast anywhere. if you don't know what to get try the the 49er flap jacks, the buckwheat pancakes, or the Dutch apple pancake, and always try a side of bacon. I could not care less about ambience (I am there to eat and talk with whoever I am there with), but it is always excellent and I have always found them to hire top notch people to serve. This particular restaurant did not disappoint in quality of food or speed of service (it was close to closing so we came after their busiest time). Perhaps the biggest compliment was from my daughter's fiancée who only eats about a dozen things (slight exaggeration, but not much) who said, "that place was really good and I would go back." If you have never been to one, look it up when you are in a major city and I doubt you will be disappointed. read more

Great food, superior service and a very comfortable atmosphere, I love all the windows and bright light. My daughter & I absolutely enjoy a Saturday morning dining at this location. I was expecting a long line, but we were pleasantly surprised that we walked right in. The coffee is delicious and I promise you the pancakes are delightful and moist bursting with flavor with the maple syrup added of course. They also have an amazing array of unique choices. Dutch Baby is the best Ive had around. The omelets are baked so they are super fluffy and full of ingredients, make sure you add cheese as some don't come with it. Basic breakfast fare here. We got there at 11:30 on a Saturday and didn't have to wait for a table. Score! I'll be back to try some crepes. The coffee and potatoes were a bit pricey. 3.49 for a very tiny mug but free refills and it was good coffee. Potatoes were nicely seasoned but the tiny dish for an add on of 3.09 was a bit much. The Original House remains one of my "original" breakfast favorites. We were seated immediately after we entered and were at a booth. Our sever, Claudia was awesome. I went with the Irish Omelette. Stuffed with corned beef hash and cheese, the Corn Beef in this dish is fire. It's definitely made in house and the eggs were light and fluffy. This could almost serve two people unless you're very hungry. They grilled the sourdough toast which made it the perfect a accompaniment to the omelette. My wife likes the French toast with almonds and I was looking forward to a big breakfast but had to go with two over medium eggs. The prices at this restaurant are criminal. Coffee is over 4 dollars for a cup and an omelette was over 18 dollars! A few days ago we ate at Cracker Barrel and had a table full of food for 25 dollars! Our bill was right at 25 and the food at the pancake house wasn't half as good! I will never go back to this place. There was nothing spectacular and nothing original. I know they are known for their pancakes, but they had the best French toast! It was made with sourdough bread and cooked just right. I really enjoyed my breakfast. The service was good. The prices are reasonable. I do wish they had a French toast option with a meat. It came with eggs and I had to do sausage as an extra add on. The other person with me had the Egg and cheese sandwich, and said it was good. I'm not a breakfast person, but plan to go back - a lot! This has historically been one of my favorite places to have breakfast. Not sure if it's because there are many other breakfast places in the area now but it seems to have lost it's flair. It wasn't overly crowded which is good but service wasn't very good, food just average and the restaurant seems like it wasn't very clean. Our table has crumbs on the seat when we arrived and the table next to us had pancakes and and straw wrappers on the floor under their table. Just didn't feel very clean were you can enjoy your food. Makes you wonder what the kitchen looks like and if it's clean. I generally like the 86th street location but this time I went to the 116th location so next time I'll try the other one. read more

A very rare one star star review from me. I had the ham and cheese omelette and it was truly one of the worst things I had ever eaten. The omelette was clearly cooked in the oven for a very long time. Why you'd cook an omelette like that is beyond me. The eggs were so dry that they crumbled away as I was using my fork. The first time in a long time I finally came back to the original pancake house...I took a break from this place when I found a hair that wasn't mines in the corn beef hash...decided to try again with my boyfriend this time around...when we walked in there as immediate sneezing and coughing and we almost left but I really was craving the waffle...Jairo was our server and he was extremely patient with giving us a minute to look at the menu...my boyfriend ended up getting the double chocolate pancakes with a side of eggs and I got my waffle with bacon...I wasn't a fan of the bacon but the waffle was delicious especially with the hot syrup and butter! You absolutely must go here if you are staying in the Fishers, Indiana area - even if you are not staying in the Fishers area you must go here! Though the place is packed, they usually turn tables very quickly and you shouldn't be waiting in the line for too long. Their breakfast is so good! I always ordered an omelette with spinach, mushrooms, a half order of Swiss cheese and bacon, a half order of potatoes and three pancakes with banana and pecans cooked in (no powdered sugar). My meal was so delicious and this was something I look forward to every Sunday - this restaurant became a ritual for me every Sunday morning while I was up in Fishers working. My family and I went to get some brunch here because my sister raved about the Caramel location but I am hoping that the Caramel location is better because this was not too good. There was no wait, which was nice, but the first booth we got sat into was broken, there was no cushion so we were just sitting on springs. We asked to get another booth because the place was empty and the staff were extremely nice about it. I ordered the pumpkin pancakes which smelled amazing but had very little pumpkin taste, I did still enjoy them. The prices are kinda outrageous, my mom got six little baby pancakes with a good amount of strawberries on top, even though they were definitely frozen, for fifteen dollars. My little pumpkin pancakes were thirteen dollars but to me that is understandable but still expensive. I also ordered a side of grilled potatoes but that was the worst part! They were over five dollars for a small plate of potatoes and they were barely cooked. It looked as if someone diced a potato and microwaved for 30 seconds. My sister said her pancakes were burnt and her bacon wasn't crispy enough but to me her pancakes looked fine. All together the check was about sixty five dollars without tip for some below average food. The ambiance was nice, it reminded me of my grandparents and felt very homey. The reason for this post is for two reasons 1) We had less foot then in the past - I have been getting the almond crusted French toast for as long as I can remember. Today I was given two pieces that were cut in half for ~$15.59 that included 1 sausage patty. In the past it was 3 full pieces and no side of meat for ~$12.00 and 2) unfortunately we will not be back after going here for a little over 30 years. No breakfast should cost $75 even prior to this visit we struggled to justify spending $50 on breakfast. read more
