This is my 2nd favorite Patachou behind the original one on 46th and Penn. But it's super close to my house, so it's my very, very favorite. Like, I go there so much it's a little bit embarrassing. Parking is pretty easy--the Dick's lot is really nearby. They have outdoor seating along the street, sort of like a Paris cafe. (I know. Fancy.) And you can bring your dog! They have all the Patachou standards, like a serve-yourself coffee bar and omelette of the day and cinnamon toast. (The skies open and angels fly around your head when you eat Patachou's cinnamon toast.) Me? I order the Cuban breakfast with an egg and have them throw in some Chorizo. I normally eat lunch there with friends. My go to order at lunch is half a chicken salad sandwich, toasted sourdough bread, and a bowl of their tomato soup. (They add cheese and croutons to that soup. Whaaaat?? So good.) Friday's soup of the day is Matzo ball, and it's delicious. Servers are super knowledgeable and handle the crowds with ease. They are excellent here, both times I have been I have been amazed at the quality of food and service. I ordered a poached chicken, Tomato and Swiss cheese omelette, breakfast potatoes and cinnamon toast, and by the time I had finished it, I was not only absolutely stuffed but curiously my socks had been knocked off. I have been to Cafe Patachou too many times to count in the 6 years I've lived in Indy. Today I tried the Cuban Breakfast and was blown away. It was filling, but not too much for brunch. The overeasy egg paired perfectly with the rice and beans. I also added chorizo which gave the dish good flavor. I did added sriracha for some spice. The dish without sriracha had great flavor but no spice. I'm so glad I tried a new dish and will continue to go back to Cafe Patachou! read more

My experience was very underwhelming. I've been wanting to come forever too! Upon first impression, I absolutely loved the aesthetic of the restaurant and was super happy to see multiple vegan options. Our server was a bundle of joy which was great too! Ultimately, I ordered the Vegan Cuban Breakfast. This promised seasoned rice and beans with tofu and I was super excited! It came out with a beautiful presentation. However, upon closer inspection, the rice and beans could not have been plainer! This was not seasoned or Cuban in any manner and a giant let down. I really wish I had gone with a different item as I had high hopes. I definitely regretted my decision, and this put a damper on my meal. Otherwise, the restaurant was environmentally conscious with promotion such as "There is no Planet B" and not having straws. This was a 10/10! Since it was so busy, a waiter didn't get around to us for 5-10 minutes, but when he arrived we were ready to order. I branched away from my typical omelette and ordered the Cuban breakfast - rice, beans, white cheddar, sour cream, avocado, egg cooked your way and a side of spinach-jalapeno sauce. Umm, YES PLEASE. This was a fab meal (though I wish the bowl was a bit bigger) and I loved the side sauce - reminded me of a pesto, and it wasn't too spicy! This location is much bigger than I anticipated and an unusual layout with nooks and crannies - it would be fun to sit outside on a nice day. I have not visited this Patachou for several years. I was out with my friend today spending my birthday with her. I suggested Patachou for brunch and she not only graciously obliged me ~ she treated me as well for my birthday! We both chose the same item which was the omelet of the day - Eggs, Brie cheese, sausage, tomato and spinach. We also both chose the cinnamon sour dough toast. I chose the fresh fruit side dish & she chose the hash browns (I think they call them some sort of potatoes). I ate every single bite of my meal! The omelette was perfection and the toast sublime! I have not enjoyed such a delicious breakfast in such a long time. Our server was also perfect - very attentive, friendly and just the right amount of interaction. Love this place for many reasons, especially because they're now offering some great gluten free and vegan options! The vegan cuban breakfast is total perfection in a bowl, and they also offer GF bread for their killer avocado toast. They cook their breakfast potatoes in butter, but when I mentioned to my server that I'm vegan, he said they could prepare some in oil instead. I mean, could their customer service get any more kickass? In my former gluten- and dairy-eating days, the sourdough bread with melted butter and cinnamon/sugar was absolute perfection. I may occasionally have a single tear roll down my cheek as I gaze into the distance and think of the deliciousness. If you're veggie/vegan, try the vegan cuban breakfast or the field roast sandwich. A friend and I came today and were expecting to get a seat without a wait (lunch on a Tuesday) but we were told it would be a long wait, or we could sit at the bar. I didn't see many tables for small groups so we decided to sit together at the bar. Right away we were greeted by a server and were asked what we wanted to drink. We loved the concept of getting our own coffee cup and filling it up on our own whenever we wanted. For $3.75 you can have a choice between a few different types of coffee, then add half and half or whole milk, and a variety of sugars. I enjoyed a couple cups while waiting for my lunch. When we sat back down we ordered lunch. I ordered a half sandwich of the chicken salad which either comes on wheat or sourdough bread. It also comes with potato chips. It was $8 so it's definitely not worth the price. Especially since we waited for almost an HOUR for our simple meals, while sitting at the bar. We kept on looking around for a server or someone to acknowledge us or to ask if our order didn't get put in but no one ever checked on us. The servers were too busy today. The other groups to the left and right of us were served before us even though they were seating after us. Don't know what happened because eventually the food came out, but at least we had a lot to chat about and didn't have anywhere else to be. I was pretty underwhelmed by my sandwich. This is my most frequented place in all of Indianapolis (well, technically Carmel). It is practically my second home and that isn't just because of the food but because the staff feels like family! No matter what time of day, my meal is always superb. My favorite is the simple broken yolk sandwich. How they turn bread, cheese, and eggs into a five star dish still boggles my mind - but they do! PRO TIP: Order it open faced and get the other half as cinnamon toast! The perfectly runny egg combines with the sharp white cheddar and avocado on top to create a party in your mouth. Then to have a side of sweet cinnamon toast brings me back to childhood. For lunch I love their BLT - it has fresh mozzarella on it and is just a simple sandwich done right. Pair that with a side of their tomato artichoke soup and you will not be disappointed. Their coffee bar is filled with great options - I always pick whatever flavored kind they have for the day. My faves are chocolate fudge, banana nut, and blueberry crumble. On top of the food their staff is top notch - I look forward to seeing them every week. I went here for brunch last weekend and we sat inside. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and as attentive as she could be given that she had a lot of tables to take care of. I ordered the turkey club with a side of the tomato artichoke soup. The club tasted great, and the soup tasted like a standard, thick tomato soup. To be honest, I was confused where the artichoke was at all. To drink I ordered a mocha, and while it was mostly fine, the chocolate at the bottom was so thick that even after stirring it was really sweet at the end. I ended up having to add more coffee to balance out all the chocolate (I realize this is how a mocha is made, it was just more chocolate than I've ever had in a mocha before). Overall everything was great, however unfortunately towards the end of our meal we waited quite a while to get the check. The restaurant was closing and there was only one other occupied table left inside, and we ended up having to get the attention of another waitress to get our check because we had waited so long. I'm sure our waitress was helping close up after brunch, unfortunately it was just a bit awkward wondering whose attention we should get to leave.
