Had a negative experience this morning. Sat myself at the bar, got greeted, given water, and then I was pretty much ignored. A server kept looking at me, possibly thinking that I wanted to place my order, but she decided to keep dealing with the coffee maker things. Anyway, I left and got better service at a cheaper, unpretentious, chain restaurant downtown. The water at Patachou is very good, so there's that. read more

Good food, but we (two people) ordered carry out online because we may need to leave and didn't want to trouble anyone with to go boxes and dishes. We sat outside, and were told we couldn't, as we had to be on a list to wait. We didn't know, so apologized, moved, and asked to be put on the list to wait. They said no. We had to awkwardly balance our boxes while sitting on the bench. Four tables were open. Embarrassing, and all we were trying to do was cause less hassle for the staff. read more

Patachou on 49th is always spot on! This is one of my favorite local brunch spots. Their sourdough bread is unbeatable. Usually I go for the turkey sandwich (delicious), but I went with an omelette during my most recent visit. It was delicious, cheesy, and filling! The arugula salad is always good- never wilted. Chicken salad sandwich was great as well. The servers are always kind and during every visit we are asked about allergies. Much appreciated as we have allergies in our household. Yeah, ambience is great. The staff is great. It was a $30 deal at 11 o'clock they don't take reservations so of course people are standing out in the rain standing around inside standing room only hoping for a table soon. There was an hour wait was it worth an hour wait I don't think so but I was with friends, so when in Rome. The wrap was just tomato pesto, sweet potato, and stuffed with more greens it wasn't exceptional and nothing to write home about. I don't have to go again. Absolutely it's steps above Cracker Barrel, and IHOP that's for sure I can't stand those places! you get what you pay for and mostly you're paying for locale and atmosphere. Omelettes and toast shouldn't break the bank. Café Patachou has a young hip vibe to it although customers range in age from young to old. I like that it's not stuffy the decor is easy on the eye and I appreciate the coordinated waitstaff in black. This quaint locally owned franchise is an Indianapolis must-try! They feature farm-to-table breakfast and lunch classics, with a light twist. There's on-tap coffee (always a win!) and even better service. My friend and I tried the Smoked Salmon Bagel and the California Dreamer (Namesake Omelette) and were pleased with both. Cafe Patachou is the type of place you come to and leave feeling surprised but, not shocked... that is to say, the food and service are good but, just barely miss the mark on great. The ambiance was light and airy, the perfect midday meetup for coworkers or friends. Love the locations I've visited. This one is meridian kessler area. There's a small parking lot to the north of the building. I had a 20 minute wait so I was able to visit a Sullivan's hardware store across the street. I stayed inside, though there is some outside seating. I had the phat rabbit and a side of fruit. I felt the whole lunch was healthy, delicious and filling. The phat rabbit is: Avocado, spinach, cucumber, tomato, red onion, cashew ricotta, micro greens, vegan pesto, toasted multigrain. The food and service were AMAZING!!! The vibe was awesome too. But what made this review a 4 is you have to make your own coffee.

I was QUITE disappointed in the quality of the food and the service. My husband and I used to frequent this restaurant for years. We absolutely loved it. We recommended it to several people over the years. HOWEVER, ufortunately, things have changed. It's actually been a few years since we've been in, so when my sister wanted to meet for breakfast I was excited to suggest this. This was during the week and NOT a busy time of day. It was at least 15 minutes before anyone even brought us water. When we were finally able to order, I recommended the Cuban (which I have had MANY times before) and avocado toast. We both ordered it and split the toast, along with a Bloody Mary. We ordered everything at the same time and asked for siracha with our food. The food came out fairly quickly, before our drinks. We asked about the drinks and was told they would be out shortly. After he walked away, we realized there was no siracha, so we waited. Our drinks came out about 5 minutes later and we asked for siracha again. That took another 3 or 4 minutes. All while the food was getting cold. It was immediately clear that the food was a MUCH smaller portion than it used to be. It was served in a small bowl instead of the big plate it used to be on. Even the egg looked like a small egg instead of large! The rice was undercooked and had hard chunks in it, and the avocado toast wasn't any better. It used to be on nice thick bread with an abundance of avocado on it. This was on regular thin wheat toast with very little avocado. Considering we paid $52 EACH including a tip I was extremely embarrassed that I recommended this so highly. read more

We came in for breakfast at around 10:30 am on a Friday. We were seated immediately. Enjoyed the serve yourself coffee station and the banana nut coffee was delish! We both had omelets- one special of the day and one McKenkzie. They were very tasty and the sourdough bread and blueberry preserves were amazing. Had the chicken salad sandwich with the arugula salad side. Great portion of chicken salad that had great flavor! The sourdough bread was phenomenal. Arugula was just drizzled with vinaigrette, very light and delicious with a bit of pepper on it. Friends all loved what they got as well. Suggested to try the cinnamon sugar bread next time. Self serve coffee bar which I love. Outlets with USB ports for charging were available which makes it a place you can work from. Will definitely be going back to try more of the menu! read more

I had heard about this place for years but never went, I'm so glad I did! It was very different than I expected. There was almost no wait when I got there which was awesome and then the food was not as expensive as I had been led to believe it would be. I would say you can have an awesome breakfast or brunch there for around $15-$20 per person. Everything I ordered was delicious and I left feeling super full. Guests are welcome to help themselves to coffee while they wait for a table -- thoughtful touch, and the flavored coffees are always so good. Highlander Grog's my fave.... As for the food, I usually go for one of the omelets, but the Broken Yolk sandwiches are fab as well. Whatever you order, you simply MUST get some cinnamon toast. Patachou is known as the basic brunch spot, and it is (crop tops and mom jeans are the norm), but it's also so much more. I was thrilled to see the push to accommodate others. Tables are spaced widely so wheelchairs can easily maneuver, the unisex bathroom is accessible with a wide door, grab bars, sink and hand dryer at a lower height. The gluten free options are incredible! I highly recommend the McKenzie omelet and will be back for their gluten free waffle. Reservations aren't available, so expect a wait on Sunday morning, but there's a coffee shop across the street and beautiful houses nearby if you need to kill a few minutes on a neighborhood walk. read more

I love these places, if I could have the person come decorate my apartment who decorates these restaurants I would. If you live in Indy or a close by area and haven't visited one of these locations check them out. The food is amazing, it's fresh, tastes great and I'll give them an A for presentation as well. Breakfast and lunch are the go tos here, anything you order is great, the avocado toast and the hippie with the Benz are my staples. It's a goal next time to try something new, but I keep going back to those 2 items. Bloody Mary's are amazing here, it's such an interesting flavor and I want to ask what's in it, but I'm worried it's a company secret Service is always prompt and friendly, and this was my first time at this location. This has become my go-to breakfast place in Indy and have visited many times since moving to the area. I cannot imagine there is a better omelette in Indy - there, I said it - and I love all the options though I usually make my own. Besides omelettes, I love the avocado toasts, sandwiches, oatmeal, and delicious bagels. What makes Cafe Patachou are all the little things - the self-serve coffee; excellent and cheerful service; the ubiquitous arugula salad; and the BREAD. My god, it is delicious. Cafe Patachou is simply the best brunch spot in Indy! My family has been driving into the Pennsylvania Street location from the suburbs since I was little. I frequent this spot on my own and with friends now. The cinnamon toast is absolutely to die for, as well as many other signature items on the menu. Service is great! Expect to wait an average of 45 minutes during prime brunch time on a weekend. While you wait, grab a cup of coffee! A seasonal coffee rotates pretty regularly so it is always fun to try the newest flavor. The blueberry crumble is incredible! The atmosphere is casual and fun. Local artists have their work featured on the walls and the music throughout is always vibrant. Dress can be casual or a bit on the nicer side. There is a small parking lot available off to the side of the building. However, this can become full during busy times. Luckily, there are free street parking spots on the surrounding streets. There is not a ton else in this area so don't expect to visit shops within walking distance during your wait or after eating. There are lots of beautiful homes in the area, so I recommend taking a walk during these times instead! read more

Sunday morning after a brisk Indianapolis Hiking Club walk I decided to go to Cafe Patachou - the 4901 N. Pennsylvania Street location. I had never been. I've been to several other location but it's been many years. Of course being Sunday, it was crowded with all tables full inside and out and many people standing as well (I'm not sure if they were waiting for a table or pick up orders). It was very busy! I found a seat at the bar so I was able to sit immediately. I saw the omelette special on the board so I ordered that without looking at a menu and the price was not posted on the board. I should have looked at the menu as I may have ordered differently. In my opinion it's very pricey. The omelette; chicken sausage, green pepper, onions (both under cooked - I picked most of them out) and cheese was $16.00. I asked for fruit for my side for which there was a $3 upcharge (I was advised there would be an upcharge but not the amount) and plain coffee at $4. In all with my 18% tip (on top of tax) my total for breakfast was $29.58. Due to the large crowd of people apparently the prices are reasonable or acceptable for my budget it's too high. read more

This one is hard for me! I love love this franchise so much. But, I usually visit the Keystone Crossing location sit at the counter. I met a friend today for coffee. At 49th Penn location. Got my self serve coffee and drank it up. The drip was Macadamia Cream! Aww-mazing. Needed a refill, so I noticed behind the counter was the drip I chose. I asked my server to top me off please. She (Jess) said oh you can help yourself at self serve around the corner. I said oh, at Keystone they usually just top me off at the counter. So she grabbed my cup.. topped it off. I asked for little cream, she slammed down the BOX of creamer and threw me a spoon! wow. I believe she was not happy to top off my cup and showed her feelings by being rude to me. I let her know I was not happy with her way of service. First time in many years have I not had superior service at Patachou. It's usually a wonderful vibe. read more

This place never dissapoints! I usually go to the downtown location but this time visited the Pennsylvania Ave location. It seemed less congested and easier to navigate. Loved the open, relaxing vibe. Food: I ordered the omelet special, which was Italian sausage with a cheese that I forget, add avocado. It was really delicious, as is all their omelets, I just wish there was more sausage inside vs mixed in with the egg, but overall good. I LOVE LOVE the cinnamon toast on the thick bread. Omg! Definitely worth the calories! Drink: I tried the wine spritz. It was a light drink, alternative to mimosas. I recommend! Also had the coffee which is rich and delicious! I didn't even know that I liked cinnamon toast before I tried Cafe Patachou's. I'm usually a "go big or go home" person when it comes to pastries (fancy French croissant, please!) but somehow, Patachou makes simple delectable. This knack for the simple extends to the omelets - I've only had a comparable one in Paris. I'm unsure what the trick is (maybe butter, the trick is usually butter), but until I figure it out (or move to Paris?), I will be back for the petit chou Antoinette. This pic is from when I ordered the omelet for takeout in November 2020, but I dined at the Penn St. location in January 2021- the staff was friendly, quick, and following all COVID safety procedures. I try to find the good in all restaurants. The best thing I could think of is the other location is wonderful and I've never had a problem. We thought we would stop in the wait wasn't bad. We were seated and our order was taken. I believe that is the last time we saw the server until we waved her down. The person I was with had ordered the french toast. As he was eating it he said this is good but has a brunt taste to it??? He flipped the half he had over and it was brunt to a crisp. My food was delicious by the way but since we hadn't seen our server for a little while I just shared the rest of my meal. We flagged down the server who said would you like us to remake it? Which in all fairness would have been great but since I was done eating and it was really time to go we said no. She said let me talk with my manager. I'm not sure exactly what she said to the manager because she was not facing me but I do know the manager asked how much had been eaten. The server told her half so they took half off the bill ( which of course I was not satisfied with) nor did the manager ever come to the table. When the server told us that I'm sure the look on my face told the story. The server said well what would make you happy he did eat half. I told her don't worry about it, we paid the bill even left a tip and left. So can you tell me what would make you happy? read more

What a cute breakfast spot! We came around 11 am on a Saturday morning and waited about 45 minutes for a table for two outside (which isn't too bad for a table downtown on a weekend morning). This place has both vegan & vegetarian options, as well as choices for meat eaters. We ordered the croissant French toast which was deliciously flaky and sweet and came with a side of fruit (this was not your usual melon cup but was made up of strawberries, pineapple, and blueberries). Then we also got a vegan omelette which was a unique change up as it did not contain tofu but was made of Garbanzo flour and came with black beans, arugula, and a side of green salsa and pesto. The portions were on the smaller side, but it was the perfect amount to fill me up without walking away with my tummy in pain. They also had fun coffee options, I got a turmeric latte with almond milk which was a great option if you like turmeric and my husband got an iced latte with oat milk which he also enjoyed. The wait staff was very attentive and while they had several tables they checked up on us often. The restaurant also has two gender neutral restrooms for guest's use. While it might be a little expensive for your average college student, Cafe Patachou is the perfect restaurant for a family visit. It is located within walking distance of Butler University's campus, allowing students to give their parents a tour of the campus and the surrounding area on the way. There is always fresh water provided and self-serve coffee. The inside of the restaurant is aesthetically pleasing, but there is also an option for outdoor seating on pleasant weather days. My favorite dish they serve is the "Cuban Breakfast Bowl" (pictured below). It's the perfect savory breakfast and healthier than pancakes if that's what you're looking for. The servers are always professional and anticipate your needs. They were even able to provide a bandaid when my mom needed one. Overall, a wonderful place for college students to enjoy delicious meal with their families. read more
