Updating this review to reflect that I came back 3 years later and Café Renis has now become my favorite cafe in the neighborhood. They've expanded their menu and even serve byrek with spinach and another with cheese. They're filled generously and the phyllo is great quality. I've been coming here to study for exams and the vibes are great! Staff is very welcoming and you will be served with smiles. They sure know how to make a good iced caramel latte!

It's beautiful in this cafe! Tin plated ceilings and pastel pink walls and art on the back wall. It's really cute and great for photos! I love the adorable tea cups and saucers. The staff were welcoming as well. There's a seat with a metal heart which wall of roses which is lovely! I also noticed a sun room in the back with a window exposing more sunlight inside. I have yet to sit back there, but I imagine that it's nice to go here on a date or to get some reading done.

A large cup for 8 dollars

This place is over priced. 8 dollars for a chi late and then I tipped another 1.25 on top of that for a large. When did a large become a small. Why do I have to go ask for the password for the Internet like it is a secret code word. I'll stay home and make my own coffee late for 2 dollars. When will these owners learn you can't rip people off for a cup of coffee.

Found your next brunch spot and they are serving up some WILD SPECIALTY LATTES. They are more than just coffee though, They are serving up a full menu of brunch items, including brunch cocktails, and both sweet and savory dishes. It's a cute little space with a fun indoor backyard space We absolutely loved the salmon toast and you gotta try these gold lattes

Such a cute place with a lot of character! I'm surprised it's not packed with people 24/7. The atmosphere is quite instagrammable and has super comfy couches. The music was enjoyable and they have books to read on the coffee tables. I tried the ube latte which was a tad more bitter than I expected, but was tasty, unique, and definitely picturesque. I also tried some of my partner's cappuccino, which in comparison was smoother and lighter.

    GOLD CAPPUCCINO

I came here for the famed 'gold' latte and ended up hanging out longer than planned. The place is cozy and inviting with plenty of seating on couches with pillows. Venture to the back which is set up like a mini garden. A greenery filled wall, white metal tables & chairs, and a little waterfall all make for a nice setup to enjoy coffee & conversations. I met the owner Mr. Renis, and he was really nice. He gave me a baklava as my bday treat while I stopped by for the latte. Seems like many regulars come here! The gold latte is $30. Strong cappuccino coffee and then a thin layer of 24k gold is added on top. (This is why it costs so much.) Use the gold spoon it comes with to mix in the gold and enjoy! I didn't really taste anything different, but the coffee was good. Overall with tax/tip it was close to $37. Yea it's pricey, but a unique experience. They sell other cool drinks (way cheaper) and desserts too. Free Wi-Fi & restroom too! They have some tables outside as well. Stop by this Astoria fav and meet Mr. Renis while you're there!

Iced Purple Ube Latte (~$6) with Coconut Milk (+50¢)
    Aya E.

Ordered: Iced Purple Ube Latte (~$6) with Coconut Milk (+50¢) Aya's take: Such a cute cafe with colorful and floral decor throughout! The Iced Purple Ube Latte was unique, creamy, and had good mix of ube and coffee flavor. It's a bit expensive considering the size of the cup (and amount of ice) but somewhat understandable considering the quality of ingredients used. There are some tables/chairs, although not the most comfortable if you're planning to stay for a while to get work done. If you're here to catch up with a friend, read a book, or do something not requiring much effort, Cafe Renis is a good spot for that change of scenery while you enjoy a beverage or snack!

The cafe itself is so cute and pretty!! There's multiple seating to choose from & they provide wifi. I will be reviewing the beverages however; it's not for everyone. The I ordered a tea (something passionfruit) and it was a tad off, I couldn't really taste the passionfruit or pineapple. I tried this place once again with a friend; she ordered the ube latte w espresso and I ordered the matcha latte with oat. I personally couldn't down the ube latte; it didn't really taste like ube; like it was missing something for sure. Getting a good matcha latte is a hard find especially in cafes nowadays. This one was okay, not awful but it could definitely be better! Maybe adding in a few more scoops in before whisking the matcha and it'll be good! This place has potential & the baristas here are very accommodating. I will be trying it again to give it another shot.

    Apple Crumb Cake

I come here often for an espresso, which is perfect every time. I tried the apple crumble, which was absolutely delicious. I love a pastry that's packed with flavor and is not too sweet. It's something you can eat any time of the day. The service is also fantastic. Highly recommend if you're looking to sit outside and have a nice cup of coffee and a pastry.

Café Renis is an adorable little coffee shop that recently opened this past weekend. Their menu is simple; they sell crafted coffee drinks (hot and cold), sandwiches (tuna, ham & cheese) and a few baked goods items (croissants, macarons, cookies, and cake). The décor is very cute and makes the café really stand out from all the other shops on this block. There are comfy benches, lounge chairs and plenty of Instagram worthy spots inside. They have an outdoor seating area in the front of the café and there is also a small sunroom in the back. Staff is very friendly, and prices are on the higher end. I got an almond croissant ($4.00), yogurt parfait ($6.50) and a frappe ($5.00). The cold frappe was great and really hit the spot on this hot day. The almond croissant and yogurt parfait were both good. Overall, a nice little cafe, great for hanging out, a nice addition to the neighborhood.

A very cute spot in the neighborhood. I have walked past a few times but decided to drop in on a rainy Saturday afternoon. I ordered an ube late with oat milk and a turkey and avocado sandwich. After my order was taken I found a comfy spot on a couch and my food was brought to me quickly. The server was kind and I settled in with a good book. I will definitely be returning. It's a nice space to get some work done so I'll be bringing the laptop on my next visit.

Cute little cafe in Astoria! Perfect spot to grab a coffee (and they have so many unique options including a red velvet latte and Ube latte!) they also have some pastries and sandwiches if you are a little hungry. Lots of seating if you also want to read a book or get some work done. Staff is very friendly too :)
