We ordered 2 little kids meals, nachos and a salad and it took them over 45 mins to "make it". We ordered ahead, left 5 mins before the time the app said it was going to be ready, went thru the drive thru 5 mins AFTER it said it should be ready and they told us they were working on it and that they'd bring it out to us if we parked up front. We parked up front, waited over 15 more mins, got frustrated and went back thru the drive thru again, the manager gave some BS story about a lot of orders even though we watched at least 10 other people order their food in the drive thru and leave, she told us to park after giving a half assed apology with a whiff of attitude when I asked her why our food was taking so long. We sat and waited another 10-15 mins in the lot and finally got our food.... The nachos were cold, the salad was warm and they gave us no fork, the kids food was barely warm.... This is why we don't do cafe Rio, anytime we go there it's a disaster. We have 2 kids, sitting in the car close to an hour and we didnt get out of there until almost 8pm. Ridiculous. I asked for double rice I got maybe 1/2 cup and it's not even cooked properly I'm still digging uncooked rice from my teeth. The Elote is nothing but canned corn is this by design or did you run out? Missing many items from bags (when going through drive thru), wrong items in bag..... to full blown ignored in drive thru for a long time at speaker- then getting someone on speaker with obvious intention to be as unhelpful as possible to deter orders. Told out of chips. Out of queso. Out of salsa. Out of tortillas for quesadillas. When I asked what they did have in stock since that sounded like pretty much being out of everything ..... heard laughing. You know, they did okay. We ended up trying Cafe Rio for the fiest time after long lines at several other restaurants. When we arrived there was only one other customer in the restaurant. The restaurant itself was nice and clean inside. Also we we noticed that there were many employees (6 or 7) which outnumbered guests 3 to 1. Some seemed to have nothing to do and stood around chatting, but it was because no one was at the drive thru. The food is laid out assembly line style and you move down the line selecting what you like. I ordered a Taco and my wife had a Tostada. The young lady putting our order together was very nice and accommodating. But, I must say that the menu was awkward and overly complicated. I just wanted a taco, but you must first choose your entree, then choose your protein and then choose your options. Really I just wanted a taco. We all know whats on it. The food itself was pretty good, but not very traditional in my opinion. This location did everything well and had no complaints there. If I could give this Cafe Rio zero stars I totally would. My boyfriend and I started going together to this location for dinner once every so often. There are 2 girls in particular who serve us who are just extremely rude. Both girls literally serve us and talk to each other through their mics and make fun of my boyfriends accent. It's rude and disgusting. The last time we went they said a comment I over heard out loud and they both rushed up to serve us. It took every ounce of me to not say something. I am sure these are the same girls everyone who gives negative reviews talks about! Cafe Rio, why don't you do something about it? Today, June 8, 2023, I ordered the Thursday special, coconut shrimp tacos. The shrimp was cold, undercooked (pink in center) and very tough. The service was horrible and the lady who greeted me to take my order was unaware of any Thursday specials! Worst tasting, stale shrimp. Total waste of our money, $36.00 gone for horrible food. The restaurant was dirty. Conveniently placed QR-codes on the tables for review did not work. If the trash was overflowing, you have to scan another QR-Code to let them know the waste can needs to be emptied. Disgusting. I ordered chicken fajitas to be delivered via Uber eats. When the order arrived, it had no fajita vegetables. And I had asked for extra vegetables. It was a container with some chicken, lettuce and cheese. I called and complained. I spoke with two different people who said they would remake the order but they don't have anyone to deliver. So I drove there all the way from Tartesso. When I got there, the woman said they don't have any fajitas made it hasn't been prepped so they couldn't even make the order. I asked why did two people tell me to drive in. She said no idea. I asked if I could get my money back. She said I would have to call Uber eats. Uber eats makes it impossible to get in touch with them. And it wasn't their error. They didn't do anything wrong. Why the hell would someone at Café Rio send a chicken fajita order that is, just lettuce. They could have called and canceled the order. I really love Cafe Rio. The sweet pork is so good and unlike anything you can get anywhere else. So when I found out they were building a new location right by my house, I was so excited. I've been to this new location quite a few times now and to be honest, I'm a little disappointed. The quality is extremely hit or miss. There's a picture of my most recent visit. This burrito is supposed to be enchilada style, but as you can see, today was clearly a skimp on the sauce day. Other days there's enough sauce to actually cover the top, much like an enchilada. Sometimes the burrito has a decent amount of meat, other days there's barely enough to cover the middle portion. It's just way too inconsistent for me. I also have to be diligent about making sure I have all my items before leaving because they frequently forget items in your order. It's a shame because the staff is always super nice when I go. But the lack of consistency and quality is enough to make me not want to come back to this location. And that's a shame because I love this place and this location is so close to me. read more
