The place was busy , we got sat like 30 mins after we walked . We sat in table 6 or 7 . We can see the expo window. While we waited for our food we notice a plate with pancakes . The manager ask around what table was waiting for pancakes . They put it in a tray right on a little table since no one claim them . The pancakes were left there where servers literally pass things in top of them , people talking over them people cleaning trays on top of them and no one say anything . We received our meal and ate. The food was high quality, I would call it elevated comfort food. My wife and i split a smash burger and a Frito Chilly pie appetizer. We had plenty to take home and have a second meal. The Frito chili pie was super delicious. Not saying the smash burger wasn't as it stood out on its own too.the servers were attentive and very kind. Restaurant is expense for the serving quantities. They advertise that it is " authentic " Mexican food but it's not. Beans portion literally a spoon serving Rice portion a 2in by 2 inch ( 1/4 of a cup) Enchiladas sauce to tangy ( my opinion) Plates range 15.99 and higher. They cooked my eggs incorrectly. If you want any salsa for your food, it comes in about a 2 oz stainless steel cup, and it is hotttt, but it is not free. It was bland and a very small amount. Very disappointed. Soft drinks and tea cost $4 & up. If you go, make reservations a few days in advance. We waited 1.25 hrs to be seated. It is a very small place. Parking is minimal. Absolutely delicious. Small but such a welcoming and comfortable spot. The grilled chicken with poblano sauce was cooked perfectly and the sauce was incredible. If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. First you have to make a decision whether your going to make friends with the flies or fight them every minute you're there. Second, the queso fundido should be called queso fundillo. Las flautas were very small and you couldn't even tell the difference between them unless you looked inside them. Even though they still tasted bland. The frijoles and aroz are fake from a can and salty. The tea was ok even though it was city water. The only true thing that we liked were the corn tortillas. I go to Odessa out of necessity. I stumbled into this immaculate, charming cafe on accident while taking my mother to the doctor. What an absolute gem! The plate was beautifully presented. Whoever made it had serious knife skills. The flavors were clean, fresh, nothing overly seasoned, lovingly prepared. It's better food than you get in west Texas pretty much anywhere, even the expensive fancy places. And the prices were less than your average chain crap-depot. It's family-run. This place is somebody's hard-won dream, and I intend to eat there every time I have to go to the city. My God! Real, authentic Mexican food that's chef-prepared! Unheard of out here! I ordered chilaquiles rojas for $11.99. It came with a side of beans. It was literally one fried corn tortilla, red salsa and crema. The food was a cold on the edges but warm in the middle, good but not filling. Husband had a burrito with beans and choice of quiso. That was a good price and a good portion. The tomato and onion used for their pico de gallo were a few days old. You could tell it wasn't fresh.
