Well...this is a problem. I just tried this Italian-Vietnamese fusion place that happens to be within walking distance of my house, which means my self-control is about to be severely tested. First off, the Lotus Rangoon--crispy, creamy, and made with actual crab. Not the "crab-ish flavored mystery filling". Real crab. Did you hear me ?? Real crab. And this amazing dipping sauce. The Vietnamese pork chop showed up perfectly seared, tender, and packed with flavor, served with fragrant jasmine rice and veggies. Delish!!! The wonton soup was incredible--tender dumplings, lots of veggies and noodles with a broth that felt like it could fix your entire life. Then came the chicken parm. When I say huge, I mean New England snowstorm eat for days huge. Crispy, perfectly cooked, sitting ontop of angel hair pasta with crusty bread on the side. We also tried the chicken and eggplant parm combo, which could easily feed a small family. Thin, crispy cutlets, perfectly breaded eggplant, marinara, melted mozzarella...just ridiculous in the best way. The prices are very reasonable, the portions are enormous, and the staff is genuinely warm and welcoming. So yes, you should absolutely try this place. read more

It's been a few years since I last visited Cafa Sicilia, and I was eager to visit again with the new owner and format. The menu shows a variety of both Vietnamese and Italian appetizers and entrees, plus just enough options which overlap in interesting ways. The inside is beautiful, but still small. The main dining area has 6 tables which can accommodate around 20, and there's more seats in the bar area at bistro tables and at the bar itself. We opted for Vietnamese fare on this return visit. Some of the items, such as our summer rolls appetizer, remain traditional in preparation and presentation, while others, such as our entrees, are what I guess you'd call elevated. Overall, everything was fresh, well prepared, and came out quickly. Our appetizer, the summer rolls, came with a dipping sauce that was rich and thick and quite flavorful, making us work to get every drop of it. The sauce for our entrees was equally rich and thick (not nuoc cham), and it tasted good on everything. We ordered lemongrass chicken and lemongrass beef entrees. These came with perfectly steamed broccoli and carrots, and a choice of jasmine rice or jasmine rice pancakes. The pancake was actually the jasmine rice mixed with additional butter and chives, shaped into a pancake. The chicken was not grilled pieces, but rather tenderloins with skin on them, evidently fried, both crisp and juicy. We did not order anything from the Italian portion of the menu, but I did see several entrees at other tables. The portions are generous. It was interesting to see the mix of choices at other tables - one party had ordered both spaghetti and meatballs and pho. We LOVED this fascinating combination of Vietnamese, Italian and fusion dish choices. While our table ended up focusing mostly on the Vietnamese side of things we noticed that the people next to us were mostly eating Italian. I can only imagine how great it would be to have these choices when you have to arrange dinner with picky eaters some of whom want each. In our case we started with a large combo platter of appetizers and the Saigon Ravioli Dumplings as well as the Summer Breeze appetizers (which were ordered as an entrée by one in our party). I got the chicken pho and the last member of our group got one of the best Bánh Mìs I've ever had. Service was friendly, helpful and efficient and the decor both cozy and bright. Parking was easy in the private lot, and will probably be more bountiful once a few snow mountains melt. I think we were agreed that the Bánh Mì was the absolute must get item. I've had a lot of Bánh Mìs and this was way up there in my favorites. read more

This new rendition of the original restaurant is a winner. Our office ordered a variety of apps and entree's and everyone liked everything. The service and atmosphere are wonderful. Today I needed a quick lunch and ordered the Caesar Salad and Saigon Street Rolls. The salad was outstanding with its Vietnamese herbs that had sweet taste. Delicious. This new take a on traditional salad is a winner in my book. The Saigon Street Rolls were perfectly crispy and served with a nice sauce. This restaurant is a great addition to our town. Came in and watched some Jeopardy, had some conversation, server was courteous, got a Bolognese with a meatball followed by a cannoli made in house with a cappuccino. And we said nothing to management or anyone else to get it taken off the bill. We paid for the food even though we didn't like it. We didn't grovel to get anything taken off our bill. Service was very good. A bit weird entering as there were 3 older guys trying to fix a vacuum....very strange yet somewhat entertaining... Food was ok Salad was a bit boring Veal parm was average but the homemade pasta was excellent. They don't have a traditional liquor license..they have a cordial license which means there is some ingredient other then the liquor...but they served an awesome lemon vodka + lemoncello martini... We went last night, its kind of a mom and pop type place with a very friendly staff. I had two different red wines, both were on the "inexpensive" side and sub par. The person I was with had white wine which was pretty good. We had calamari and meatball apps that were okay. Problem for us was they was both massively over salted. I know Italian can be salty but this was instantly noticeable and excessive. If you don't mind too much sodium you'll like this place well enough. read more

Excellent service- I had the chicken Marsala $18.00with $2 up charge for the homemade pasta. It was really good. My daughter really enjoyed the meatball sub. The waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu. The desserts looked amazing but we were too full from the lunch. This place is excellent! Homemade pasta and the owner Joe is such a nice guy and very friendly as well as his staff. You get a lot of food for cheap money and everything is homemade which you can taste the difference immediately. I had a pretty bad experience at this place. The person making my food wasn't using gloves and had like, a gross cut on there hand and it appeared to have some pus on it. I suspect the quality of ingredients is low based on some evidence I'd rather not share here, the person checking me out left me standing holding my card for minutes having a argument with someone, a friend or contractor or something.
