Coffee was fine but the service was horrible. The server messed up my order and was incredibly rude and disrespectful when I pointed this out. She refused to believe that I had not ordered what she gave me - even when I and the two other people I was with explained that I had ordered a different drink. I'm not going to lie the macaroons and crepes at cafe Sofia are great. I've been here four times but every single time the staff was extremely rude. The fourth time was my last straw, the person working looked ANNOYED when me and my two friends walked in and rolled her eyes. No smile or anything she literally said what do you want, took my payment and chucked a bag with the the three macaroons I ordered at me. The only reason it gets two stars if because the food genuinely is good, but it's really not worth being treated to horribly and ruining your day for. read more

The woman who took my order at the register was so rude and obnoxious that i almost felt like she could care less that I was a customer and I was paying with MY money! I will never ever return here! I walked into Cafe Sophia today around 5:30pm. There were no customers at the front counter, so I walked over to review the menu. There were two women that were working behind the counter that were speaking to each other. I decided what I wanted and moved closer to the counter to wait for them to finish their conversation or have one of them notice me to help. They both glanced at me with smug look as if I were a nuisance. A couple walked in from a side door and the two women immediately stopped their conversation and greeted them, as they must have known them. One of the women went to do something else, while the other again glanced at me nastily then proceeded to ask the couple if they'd like coffee. I was a little surprised, but I brushed it off as if they were regulars and they were just looking to get their orders done quickly. While the woman was pouring the couples coffee, another customer walked in and stood behind me. The worker handed them their coffee, again looked right through me, even though I was still at the counter in front of the register, and greeted the woman and asked if she could help her. At that point I was appalled at how blatantly rude she was being and that she seemingly would not serve me, so I left. I have been to this cafe before, and meanwhile, I've never had an exceptionally friendly experience with the staff, I was completely taken back today. The magnitude of how rude the staff was today completely blew me away and I will not be returning. The coffee is good there, but not that good. read more

I've been there for coffee and for dessert several times with my wife. We stopped by yesterday for a coffee and the girl behind the counter staff was rude and gave me a terrible look. Not going back again...it's easier to walk to starbucks and have people treat you like they want your business. read more

Great place for decently priced GOOD coffee. I like that fact that it is locally owned and unlike some other reviews the service has always been great when I'm there. I've always been fortunate enough to go in when the owner is there and he's been very welcoming and friendly. He recognizes the "regulars" and remembers what they order. Stopped here for breakfast/coffee while on a short term business trip. Met the owner right when he opened at 7am. Extremely friendly, cozy atmosphere and the coffee was fantastic! I have no idea why anyone would want to patronize the Starbucks down the road with such a great local option nearby. We were going to just have coffee, as they don't start serving food until 8, but the owner made an exception for us and made us the crepes we had been hoping for. They were crisp, light, and just as they should be. I only wish our trip had been extended so we could have come back for more! read more

I enjoyed my nuttella crepe & my husband really liked his eggspresso crepe. The coffee was also well made. But what impressed me most was the kindness of the owner. A customer spilled all his coffee on himself and the owner made him a larger one. I prefer supporting a small business with character as opposed to the monster chains. read more

This is a very nice little cafe in the heart of West Hartford Center. We tried their Moroccan mint tea, and it was excellent! Tea is freshly brewed, and served in a clear glass tea pot, with matching stylish tea cups with saucers. The owner is very friendly to the clients, and he told us the story of the tea cups. They are slightly assymmetrical, and the fact that the owners cared to have their own style this way, adds a nice touch. The desserts are delicious, most appealing are baklava, which I would say is not excessively sweet but just right, and a pistachio dessert. If you go, ask which desserts they bake in the house, i forgot the name but it was the best of the four that we have tasted. I have not tried their coffee yet, but it smelled really rich and good. And I absolutely love that there are NO plastic cups, tea spoons are small, and dessert size is just right (not huge to give you a sugar overdoze, but big enough to share with a friend if you want to taste several diferent kinds). This is more than just a coffee shop! It is unique. And you don't have to guess what word to use to ask for a cup of tea! ( no 'grande', 'tall', etc... You know what I mean!) read more

We went there for ice cream after dinner at Grant. The place looks very cozy, with lots comfy chairs and tables. The ice cream is huge for the amount and there are quite a bit of choices. I ordered pineapple orange, it tastes good but a bit too sweet for my taste. read more

I came here on vacation from Florida, my cousins recommended this place highly so I tried it out. I absolutely loved the strawberry and Nutella crepe served with their affagato. If there is a spot, the wifi is free and better quality than Starbucks. It is not a bad place to work, though it can get a little noisy, since it seems to be a popular hangout. read more

Went here for ice cream. Ice cream was okay, but service was lacking. Had to stand for some time as the proprietor conversed casually with someone (seemed to be a friend or acquaintance), and when she got around to us, we seemed to be of little interest to her; no more than a mundane task that needed to be dealt with. Still, when I pass by on the weekends, it seems like a popular place--maybe we hit it on an off day. Went here for coffee after dinner at Pho Boston, easily the best coffee I have ever had. The coffee was smooth and delicious and although I ordered a shot in it, it wasn't too sweet. My only small, teeny complaint is that the people working there, were not very attentive. We needed to ask them to help us and then they seemed to start making our drinks before we even ordered them.
