We LOVE this place. We go here at least once every two weeks, enough that the staff know us well. They serve incredibly authentic Turkish dishes that reminds me of my time when I visited Turkey while living in the UK. The pide (let's call them Turkish pizzas) is a must try, and my wife loves the hummuses (or hummi?) and the lentil soup. You would see that the staff wear t-shirts that say Love, Peace and Ali Nazik; so yes, you must have the Ali Nazik Mania. The list of food that we can recommend is just about the whole menu. The Pide is a Turkish flatbread that would beat just about any pizza in town. Try it. Can you tell we LOVE this place? Our first time visiting, husband and I were in a date. This place was instantly so comforting. We were wowed by the decor, flavors, and service. Highly recommend for anyone with an open mind and open taste buds. We asked our waitress for their recommendation on foods to try and they didn't disappoint! By far one of the best authentic Turkish restaurants ever! While visiting Seattle and sightseeing the Fremont Troll Bridge we stumbled across this cozy place, like finding a gem in the sand. Only two blocks walking distance from the Troll, Cafe Turko is located on the corner. Location is near Troll Ave and I guess it's moved very slightly. There's parking but I found some on the street, too. Coming inside, I was greeted right away. It's a warm, open space and it's got a nice vibe of food and conversation. Service is great!!! I wasn't super hungry but the food was delicious and super reasonable prices, everything comes promptly and servers check in to make sure you're doing ok. Really a great lunch as we had our date on a Monday! I ordered Yogurtlu $14 which my husband loved. He ordered the Kuzu Salad $13 it was great but not as mind blowing as the smoked meat in my dish. It's purely comfort food without the mounds of carbs. Just the pita. Yelp checkin got us a sage iced tea ($3.50) which was unsweetened and I think I'm one of those who likes my tea a tiny bit sweet. The sage became too much for me after a few sips. Hopefully get to try a new one the next time! For dessert we got a house special - a cheesecake with pistachio and rose syrup. I have come to Cafe Turko a few times and are amazed by every dish I have tried. The restaurant is located right by the water, so really great place to do takeout and then enjoy the food by the water when the weather is warm. I got the Ali Nazik with lamb during my last visit and I would highly recommend it for lamb lovers. The meat is tender and well balanced with the yogurt, so the flavor is not overwhelming. The portion is generous as it comes with a side salad and rice. I have ordered the beyti kebab before. It is one of my favorite dishes here, but I would recommend sharing it as the cheese could get a little heavy after a few of the rolls. The rainbow hummus plate is also so unique! We went here for an early lunch with a large group of 15 people. The menu is huge and quite overwhelming. I am never a fan of places that have such large menus because there's no way you specialize in 300 dishes. We did however try a bunch of dishes as a result. We started off with Ayran for everyone. It is not on the menu but they do serve it. It's a cool yoghurt based drink that is perfect for a hot day. The unfortunate part was that it was extremely salty. I'd ask them to make it with a quarter the salt. Muhammara - This was quite good albeit very salty. The roasted red pepper flavor came through nicely and the texture was course and clung well to the flavors. I'd recommend this. Rainbow Hummus - The regular hummus and the spinach hummus were quite nice and flavorful. The yam hummus was way too sweet and lacked texture. The beetroot hummus looked nice but didn't taste very good. I'd rather just get the regular hummus. Beyti Kebab - We got the chicken and the veg versions of this. Both were ok. They were not bad but not outstanding either. The chicken was a little dry and over cooked and the wrapper was burnt at the edges. The yoghurt dip is required. Ali Nazik - This was well seasoned and flavorful. The chicken again was a little over cooked but overall the components of the dish all came together nicely and I actually liked it. Aromatic Lamb with Turkish Apricots and Almonds - This was easily my least favorite thing of the meal. The lamb was like boiled dish rags and everything on the plate was cooked to oblivion. The veggies had no texture and were just pure mush. Everything was unbearably sweet. I've had this dish before a bunch of times across very authentic places and this is not at all what it's supposed to be like. Adana Kebabi - It was quite tasty but very dry and crumbly. Grilling these seekh kebabs is a skill and it is easy to screw them up. Clearly they didn't know how to do it right and instead of tender and juicy, they were chalky and dry. We ended the meal with a round of Turkish Coffees that most people liked and baklava that nobody liked at all. The food was mediocre, the prices steep and the portions meh. The only highlight was the really great and friendly service. I will not be going back here anytime soon. I don't personally find it worth it. read more

When I took my first bite, I was blown away. It really was unlike anything else I've had before. It reminded me of a Chinese beef pancake roll, but Mediterranean flavored. The whole thing was soft, chewy, juicy, and the meat was tender. I would love to order it again. You really can't go wrong with ordering the Beyti Kebab. I ordered Beyti and I am very disappointed. They used retaurant depot gyro in Beyti. Come on, guys! Dont be lazy and make your own gyro. I paid $15 for the food I didnt like at all. Ice tea was horrible! As a response to the business owner: I have been eating Beyti Kebab for well over 20 years and first time in my life, I found gyro wrapped in lavash and called as Beyti. This is way far from original Beyti. This is misleading even though you have a description in the menu. Since I know what beyti is, I didnt read the description and I was shocked when I found "restaurant depot gyro" in my lavash. You cannot just reinvent the Beyti kabab. It is what it is and you should definetely follow the original way of making Beyti Kabab. How would you feel when you paid for BMW but you got Toyota. This is the google description of beyti: Beyti is a Turkish dish consisting of ground beef or lamb, grilled on a skewer and served wrapped in lavash and topped with tomato sauce and yogurt. Cafe Turko has some of the best Turkish food I've EVER had. I ordered takeout, and they were able to prepare my meal within 15 minutes! I got the ali nazik mania, beyti kebab with chicken, and cup of lentil soup. The ali nazek was SO delicious - tender, braised pieces of lamb and wonderfully seasoned chicken served with rice and salad over a yogurt sauce and hummus. The lentil soup was a nice complement to this, as it had deeper, earthier tones that soothed my taste buds from the amazing pop of flavor from the ali nazik. We also enjoyed the beyti kebab, which had a similar chicken as the ali nazik. I was with a group of people so we got to try and share different dishes like the rainbow hummus with pita, the stewed lamb rack (stewed so well the meat almost fell off the bone...didn't smell too meaty either!), eggplant beyti (delicious! The crisp pastry wrap around soft baked eggplants gave a good texture and was yummy!!), salad (just ok..what you'd expect eating fresh veggies) and a baked squash topped with rice and pomegranate (I loved this dish the most..so simple yet the squash and rice tasted so good together!). I also had a chance to try their pomegranate iced tea, their hot apple tea (just like what I could get in Turkey when I traveled there 5 years ago!), and various kinds of their desserts (mostly some sort of combinations of filo pastries, honey, pistachio, walnut and/or sour cream?) and they all tasted sweet and are good things to end your day! Overall, the restaurant is quite busy and popular, so I would recommend making some sorts of reservations esp if you plan on going for dinners. We spent a long time there that unfortunately we had to leave earlier than intended to accommodate other guests that were waiting for their tables. That said, service was slightly better than average. The owner was nice and definitely cared about their guests and the food quality (he gestured for us to wrap some leftover food back instead of throwing some away). What a gem! We came here for a late lunch on Sunday and loved all of the food we ordered. It was our first visit, and I wish I lived closer to Cafe Turko. This place came highly recommended from our friends so we gave it a shot. So happy we got to dine on authentic Turkish food. The very first thing I noticed was the space. The walls are painted a bright beautiful turquoise color. There is art on the walls, and glass and metal lanterns hanging from the ceiling. We both ordered iced specialty teas- cardamom green tea and mint + lemon tea. For food, we decided to order and share a zeytinli (olive and feta) pide, Aegean musakka with pita, Ali Nazik with lamb. Delicious! My partner and I are of Middle Eastern descent so we can be pretty picky about lamb and sadly have our fair share of disappointing lamb dishes. The Ali Nazik with lamb (comes with a side of pilaf and salad) at Cafe Turko broke the cycle! It was so flavorful and tender-- our favorite dish of the meal. Although we technically ordered 2 appetizers and 1 main dish, this was plenty of food for the two of us. PROS: - Authentic Turkish food - So much variety - Ali Nazik with lamb was bomb! - Service was great CONS: - The iced teas were OK. Nothing too special. This place is right near our house, and I can't believe we've only been once. Let's start with decor- the roof is adorned with intricate lamps, while the walls feature several traditional items. The service is fantastic- we showed up near closing time, and yet, we didn't feel rushed and the server checked in frequently without being annoying. On to the favorite part: the food here is DELICIOUS. The hummus platter features traditional as well as unique flavors such as beet. The eggplant mousakka is mouth-watering with the saffron rice, and didn't taste super spicy in case anyone is concerned about spice. The pide was equally delicious. Of course, no meal is complete without Turkish coffee with its thick grounds, and I'd highly recommend getting it with a little sugar for first timers. read more

Very bad service after they opened the indoor dining. Very understaffed, super slow service (took them more than an hr to give us our enteree), wrong order. Also very stressful setting as they keep their delivery table and operate as a "take out" place. Tables with dead flowers and dust all over the place.
