Cute cafe tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. They have a large menu of drinks, and I love that they offer chaggacinos (mushroom chaga used as a coffee substitute)! It's a small space and limited seating, so be prepared to take your order to-go or wait to squeeze in. Service was friendly and quick. Prices are reasonable for New York.

Great place to get a quick, lighter-side breakfast! The omelette and açaí bowl were both yummy, though I do agree with some of the other reviews that the bowl is on the runnier side. Latte was pretty good. Services was also very great and food came out pretty quick. Not a ton of seating inside and out, so it would definitely be tough to find some for more than two people. Went on a Monday with one other person and we didn't have trouble finding seating.

Very cute spot in the heart of Brooklyn. I came here on a weekday around 1:30pm and there was available seating. The inside is small but cozy. I got an iced matcha. It was refreshing, though not the best iced matcha I've had. I would come back when I'm in the area.

The coffee was really good and hot! Very quaint establishment, indoor seating only for 11 people maybe 13 if people shared a booth. Outside seating for 8. They had a wide variety of pastries. I had a grilled cheese omelette Bergen and my husband had a waffle. Both were really good. Nothing comes with it, and the grilled cheese could have had a larger amount of the ingredients, so a little pricey for breakfast, but very good and fresh. We sat inside and they seemed to stay busy on a Saturday morning. We would go there again. I think this would be more a coffee and pastry shop for us than regular menu items as $15 for a waffle and no sides is a bit much.

Cute little cafe in a nice, quiet area. The ladies there are lovely and attentive and the food was priced well and yummy. Wouldn't hesitate to come work here one day :) but they do request no laptops on weekend just fyi. Overall the drinks were made well. Chai latte was too sweet but I should've said something beforehand. I'm sure it can be adjusted!

4.5 / 5.0 - Cafe Volkan is such a cute neighborhood cafe. My friend and I stopped by for lunch after our barre class to try their avocado toast. It is a very very small cafe, with limited seating inside and outside. Luckily, we were able to find a table inside, but many people were there to pick up coffee to go. The Classic Avocado Toast ($11.50+) was absolutely delicious. Some places get stingy with their avocado, but this one had plenty of avocado on the toast--which was perfect for an avocado lover like me. Next time, I hope to try their Salmon Avocado. For drinks, I ordered tea ($4+), which they had a nice selection of from Harney & Sons, from Paris to Ginger Tea. If you love avocado toast, there may be a bit of a wait for a table, but I highly recommend you stop by and give it a try.

I had passed this cafe multiple times when near the Bergen street area. However, it took me waiting for another place to open while it was pouring rain in the early hours of the morning to get myself through the door. It is a relatively small place. With a few tables and chairs. I admire the green pastels on the outside and the wooden set up they have on the inside. They had rules about laptops inside which make sense since people don't control a seat for hours. It was relatively empty for me due to the rain and the early morning but there were a few people coming in for quick conversations and to pick up food. If I wasn't heading to a pancake place immediately after I would have tried their menu since they had various options including variations on avocado toast, Belgian waffles and truffle omelettes. I got introduced to Salep (sahleb in other places) because I saw it on the board. It was the only item that I didn't recognize and when I was told it was made of orchids, I tried it. Definitely on the creamy side and you get the floral flavor. Though I can't see this as a working cafe for me, I do see the future of a great spot to chat with a friend

The avocado toast and bagel with cream cheese were delicious. The cappuccino and English breakfast tea were fantastic as well. The staff was friendly, very accommodating, and the atmosphere was pleasant. They also had great vegan options.

Super cute café offering drinks, breakfast foods, and pastries. They are really friendly and service is fast. There is very limited seating and I didn't see a bathroom (although I didn't ask). I got an almond milk maple latte and it was delicious. Not too sweet and the coffee was strong. I also got the truffle omelet grilled cheese which was flavorful and filling. Definitely would come back!

Cute intimate cafe, great for breakfast with all fresh fruits. The employees are all very friendly. I had the açaí bowl but it was my first time trying it so I had nothing to compare it to (per se). it was more watery than i expected. I still enjoyed it and I would like to go back and try more of the menu (and update this review!). The açaí itself is maybe 3 stars, but the service was so friendly I added a star as well.

Omelette grilled cheese sandwich with side salad and cortado

I stopped in for a coffee and maybe just a tiny pastry or bite, but when I saw something mysteriously and all-too-alluringly called an "omelette grilled cheese" on the menu, I felt helpless but to try it out. That turned out to be an excellent choice. Somewhere between breakfast and lunch, between panini and grilled cheese, between the moon and New York City... I fell in love with this delightful sandwich. I went with the truffle grilled cheese option--wildly flavorful, hearty but not terribly heavy--just a delicious meal, with a delightful light side salad as a perfect contrast and accompaniment. I also had a cortado which was tasty and perfectly made. This spot has a small but charming little outdoor seating area, or also perfect for takeaway as well. I can't wait to come back and try the other omelette grilled cheese options. Heck, just saying "omelette grilled cheese" out loud and reflecting on my meal now makes me pretty happy.

It's a small place with both inside and outside seating. We were welcomed with the wonderful aroma of delicious food and fresh coffee. The staff are just amazingly friendly and helpful. As we did in line, we heard the wonderful and relaxing music. It's just an incredible feeling of being at home. Is also conducive to meeting the person during next to you. And that's what we're doing right now; we met a new friend. We ordered the Truffle omelet grilled cheese. It was so delicious. I'm pretty hungry this morning and so I also chose the blueberry scone. It's most and savory with fresh blueberries. The coffee is really good. It's not great, but it works well with the scone. Finally, we tried the Chaga with coffee. It sort of tastes like a latte. Wanted something quick and light and also needed a Matcha pick-me-up, so I saw this highly rated Cafe on Yelp and went for it. I ordered a iced Matcha latte, which was prepared quickly and tasted just how I expected it to. I also ordered an avocado toast with salmon and waited maybe 10 minutes for it. Longer than I expected but when I received it, I could see why. The toast was quite sizable, and there was no shortage of avocado or salmon on it, so I was pleasantly surprised. They topped it with capers and red onions, and I have to say this was quite the deal! The Cafe doesn't have a lot of space but it has a nice cozy charm to it, and the drinks and food seem to be made with care. I took mine to a park nearby and was quite stuffed afterwards.

Very limited seating inside or outside. I stop by here with my wife for breakfast, it was excellent. I had the waffle with fruits and she got something with the eggs. Both were delicious. We also had a coffee which is served quickly. But the waffle and egg took about 8-10 minutes. Most customers pick up their coffees to go. I would go back. read more

This is the first time since before COVID that I've been able to find a good cafe near me with comfortable outdoor seating. Everything inside and out is aesthetic and comfortable and the staff is friendly. The coffee isn't cheap of course, but pretty standard for the real estate. I'll be coming back. read more

Loved my cold brew from here and my oat milk latte. Smooth, tasty. Also the cookie shaped like a little bear?? So good. The eggy sandwich thing is a little intense but delicious. Split it with a friend. Oh and it's cute to sit there if you have time. Pretty sure a husband and wife own it and work the counter all day, too. They're friendly! read more

Simply put: the best cafe and snack restaurant in Cobble hill/Boerum hill. I've lived on Smith st. for nearly 4 years and have tried every spot around here, nothing compares to the quality, freshness, hospitality and customer service of this amazing place. No matter what time I come in, Volkan or Leah (the owners) greet me with the warmest energy - even behind their masks you can tell they're smiling. They use the BEST organic ingredients -- like the most delicious bread, fruits, and vegetables. & finally as Brazilian I can attest that their Açaí is delicious. Thank you for all you do! Adorable neighborhood spot, however service is lacking. After waiting over 15 minutes in line outside, I was turned away from placing an order as they weren't able to handle the volume. I really like this Cafe. The open arms (and windows) and friendly owners (a couple starting it up themselves) make this petite Turkish cafe everything you need in this part of town. So happy they managed to keep it running so well, while starting it up right during Covid-19. We will be back - which is not an empty phrase, we live two doors down. P.S. I moved to the area one month ago & walked past this place every day while walking my dog. Ever since leaving the North Shore of Oahu, I've craved a good acai bowl. I've tried so many places since leaving Hawaii & I've found most places try to over complicate something that is best left simplified with a focus on the quality of ingredients themselves. I can officially stop my search. The acai bowls here are so delicious and satisfying. They taste the way acai bowls are supposed to taste. Meaning, there's not a bunch of unnecessary ingredients blended into the acai base itself or unnecessary honey drizzled all over the fruit (huge pet peeve). Also, the staff is so friendly. It feels like a neighborhood spot & has a great vibe. I really want to try other things on the menu because everything sounds delicious, but I can't stop myself from ordering the same acai bowl every time I walk in. Oh, they also keep the cutest bowl of dog treats if you happen to have your pup with you. 10/10! read more

My favorite coffee shop, the latte tastes amazing and is served in a beautiful pale green cup. Owners are so friendly and remember everyone's drink choice. Interior is beautiful and quaint, my favorite part of the day is drinking my coffee in the morning and watching customers swing by with their dogs and kids in tow. I like to go around small coffee shops in Long Island because it's my girlfriend's favorite thing to do. She is the one who got me into the coffee. Small coffee shops are our little adventures and we like to review them together. When I found this spot in Brooklyn, it gave Long Island coffee shops competition. I was a daily loyal customer for a while until I was lectured and scolded by the owner. I usually go there around noon until closing with my laptop and work while having lunch and several cups of coffee or tea until closing. Yesterday I stepped outside for a few minutes and when I returned I was told not to leave my stuff on the table and go outside without informing him. Honestly, I felt like a kid being scolded by a parent. Really? I have been living in this neighborhood with my wife and son for almost 17 years and never had such unpleasant experience in any of the other coffee shops in and around the neighborhood before. Espresso and Lattes were fantastic. Omelet Grilled Cheeses (wiare the best spin on breakfast! The only thing better than the coffee and food is the service and at-home feeling the owners provide. I used to go to the other cafés in the area but I find myself only at Cafe Volkan now. Their espresso is as good or better than Blue Bottle, Stumptown, Devocion and the owners who are always there behind the counter and are so gracious and welcoming. The vibe is very serene and and there are a few perches inside as well as three tables outside and benches. What they offer is a real neighborhood feeling. A place that's not overproduced and branded but is beautiful and serene. And again, have I talked about the espresso served in pale blue/green ceramic cups always with a side of sparkling water? And the very kind and personal service? They also have a menu of food and pastries that are excellent. Great wi-fi, and I always meet people who feel like chatting there. I don't know, it just feels different there. read more
