Veteran-owned and operated! One of the more unique dining experiences we've had. When we walked up to order, we were told that first-time visitors don't get to choose their meal. Instead, we were simply asked whether we preferred something sweet, savory, or a combination of both, and the cooks took it from there. Our food was made fresh to order and came out quickly. The restaurant was clean, had a welcoming atmosphere, and wasn't overly busy during our visit, making for a relaxed experience. Anchorage Alaska with me and I went to waffles and what not I found them on Yelp. I called my order and I got the waffles and chicken strips with syrup and they give you their own fresh sauce when I got to the location Anchorage my order was ready. I sat down at eight right here. I hooked you up immediately. I like the ambience in the site around the restaurant. It was pretty cool with a lot of history. My wife had not ordered online so she ordered us the counter and she was informed that it was the first time they ordered for you. They went over to work that out, but you moved the wrong order and she also ended up getting the waffles and chicken strips by the time she got hurt I was ready for a second so I went back and ordered another. This establishment has been featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-ins & Dives (see photo) and is very inclusive which was super cool. You can write on the wall about your visit which I found to be fun and inviting. I had the House Omelette which was surprisingly flavorful and excellent. Leer (sorry if I'm spelling that wrong!) has been absolutely amazing each time--so kind and welcoming--and the same goes for the other cashiers and cooks. The whole team creates such a positive vibe from the moment you walk in. My go-to meal? The chicken, mac & cheese, and waffle loaded with cookie butter, strawberries, blueberries, and bananas. On my very first visit, they asked what flavors I liked, and I told them "sweet and savory"--and they nailed it. Ever since then, it's been my regular. I always think about trying something new, but I can't help coming back for that combo--it's just that good. Today, Leer mentioned they were exploring opening new locations, and I told her Fort Worth would absolutely love a place like this. With the owner being a veteran and Fort Worth having such a strong military community, I know people there would rally behind it. We love supporting our own. Also, if you really listen, the music playing in the background is all original--and every track tells a story about the restaurant's culture, energy, and mission. My son's Chocolate Banana Belgian waffle was very sweet and he loved it. My wife's Chicken and Waffles served with mac-n-cheese was perfect. She loves Mac-n-cheese. My waffle Sandwich filled with eggs, chicken and Bacon with cheese was so filling I could only eat half! I can't wait to eat the other half! Their coffee was rich and flavorful as well. The restaurant interior is decorated with customer graffiti. Patrons from days gone by have shared their names, art and wisdom in multicolored markers over most of the walls. A few flat screens display menu items and feature local advertisements. One monitor near the register shows the menu. The tables are bright red wooden picnic tables. WAWN looks a bit sketchy from the outside, and truthfully from the inside too. But, it is delicious food at Alaska affordable prices. Our total bill was about 60.00 with tip. Which is on the lower end for Alaska where I have found prices are about 20% or more higher than the lower 48. I absolutely recommend this gem to locals and visitors alike.
