Kid's Mickey Mouse pancake, chicken fried steak, country skillet & a pancake -- everything was delicious!
    Lala H.

Since this place was just down the street from our hotel, we decided to give them a try. Not only was their service top-notch, but the food was great and reasonably priced (for Alaska)--we enjoyed it so much we ate here twice during our stay. The restaurant is very open and offers plenty of seating (more than enough for a large group). They're only open for breakfast & lunch, so plan accordingly. First visit/Breakfast: their chicken friend steak was the star of the show! Perfectly seasoned, tender and topped with delicious sausage gravy. Second visit/Lunch: Wonderfully perfect halibut sandwich was delicious and their kid's burger was pretty solid. Between the great food, friendly service and clean, spacious dining room Heidi's is definitely worth the trip! We will most definitely make a point to return next time we're in town.

Wonderful staff and very family oriented. Food portions and prices were great. My sister and I shared a giant cinnamon roll. Yum!

Heidi's looks like a local's staple. Service is the best! When you walk in, you are immediately seated, water comes right away, and the coffee never drops below 1/2 cup. Solid breakfast! Would be our go-to spot if we lived here. The interior is refreshed, clean, and bright. Come here and feel like you are in your home town.

Local recommended greasy spoon type diner. Headed over for breakfast because of the recommendation. Great friendly service. Super fast breakfast. Loved the diner. Ambience was great.

First stop in Anchorage on 7/11 for breakfast. Got the country Benedict and the waffles. Wow everything was great crispy waffle and good biscuits with sausage and gravy with poached eggs were awesome. Place had tons of seating and service was great happy servers are the best! Place was very clean and I will return here next time to Anchorage!

Just the hubs and I on a visit from Iowa. We were quickly seated at a table, on a Tuesday. The waitress was friendly, outgoing and took our order promptly. I ordered the veggie omelet with no peppers nor mushrooms. I believe they mixed two much milk in their eggs I prefer my omelets with straight egg. The home fries were ok but I like the ones back home better. Hubs tried the reindeer sausage which reminded him of the ring bologna our parents fixed with sauerkraut when we were younger. Food was not terrible. If we lived here, it may not be our regular place but we might go there again

Good but not great is how I would best describe our experience. Overall the place is nice, especially inside. The food was good & fresh, except the bacon was like chewing leather & too salty. The sausage gravy could use more seasoning and the service could be more attentive. We would definitely like to try this place again and maybe try some different dishes. I will say the pancake was a delight! Fluffy and perfect. Coffee was good too.

Walked in and the restaurant was super clean and the staff very friendly. We have a short lunch and Heidi's is fast, hot and efficient! With today's charges at restaurant this place was very reasonable and good. We'll definitely be coming back for breakfast. They aren't open for dinner and that's fine since their food is on points

    The dining room is HUGE!

Breakfast at Heidi's always good but never great. I ate here while I was in town on business a year ago and I just realized I didn't take any photos of rhe food?!?!?! Hahahahaha! Anyway, second time is the charm I guess. So the Halibut sandwich was good, flavor was good, the fish was tender and flaky, my server made a mistake and substituted the "American" cheese for Swiss but I loved it! LOL! Seriously made the sandwich taste better. I didn't eat the bun because to be brutally honest as I always am, the bun was of cheap, stale and poor quality, it was barely toasted and not buttered? Fail! The bun on my cheese burger was the same way. The burger itself was cooked perfectly medium well but it was a premade obviously Sysco quality burger which was poorly seasoned which was made more evident by the stale, cheap, poor quality bun. They did have Coke Zero which made me feel a little better. Also at the end of my meal I ended up having to get up from my table and go pay for my food since my server hadn't returned in 15 minutes after clearing my dirty dishes. I don't feel like I will return to this place as there are much better options in the area. The ambiance always feels like I'm in an IHOP at 3am for some reason..

One of my favorite hometown breakfast/brunch spots here in Anchorage! Cozy vibes, friendly staff, quick service, and the kind of comfort food that hits just right -- especially on a freezing fall morning. The coffee's always hot, the portions are generous, and everything tastes homemade. It's the kind of place where you can just relax, catch up with friends or family, and take your time. Local feel, good energy, great prices, and even better food -- can't ask for more!

Here in Anchorage for work, and stopped in here for breakfast. The food was amazing, service so fast, and a great spot for breakfast! I totally agree with another reviewer, no negativity here! Just a great place for breakfast.

This establishment was rated 4.5 in Yelp at the time of our visit. Well deserved rating! Our server, Nicole was gracious and followed up to see if the food met our expectations. It did for me and two others in our party. One of our party said the waffle was "meh". They have a history as a picky eater though. Coffee was good! 2 cups for me :0) I had the breakfast sandwich. You can choose how the eggs are cooked and selected bacon. It had cheese melted which combined everything nicely and tasted good! I took a photo. It has a large dining area. Good for small groups. I cleaned up the photo to remove individuals for privacy sake. If you like diners, put this spot on your radar. I would recommend this establishment for breakfast/brunch!

You can see them bake the pastries and bread. Our first time in line, I decided to get their sausage poached egg breakfast sandwich and an Alaskan berry scone. My friend got their breakfast focaccia came with egg, cheese sausage on a focaccia. My egg sandwich was not good. I was surprised they didn't heat the sandwich. Not even sure if I had to ask? The egg wasn't that poached, the inside was just gooey and not runny, which was fine by me. Since it was not heated, the sausage patty was so cold, egg was cold, the bread bun they used was so big, too much bread, stale/hard and not proportional. It was pretty bad, not a good breakfast sandwich. Skip it. They made that up in the breakfast focaccia. The focaccia was warm, soft, and the egg and sausage was warm and just right. That's what you should get!!! We came back in line and got additional items bc they put our more. I got their fruit danish, my friend got their chocolate cupcake and an ham cheddar scone. Their danish was delicious. And their scones were very flakey and soft. Everything was great except that breakfast sandwich. Skip that and get the breakfast focaccia.

The family that owns and operates this gem is Greek and they are not only amazing cooks, but they care about their community!! I have been there eating several times this winter and obviously homeless people would come to the door and be given water, hot soup, half a sandwich, etc. that just made me love this place more. Now to the food. First of all I had the meatball sub which was not only delicious but super filling. The meat was very well seasoned, and the fresh basil just made the marinara pop even more, add the freshly shaved Parmesan cheese and you've got something special. The homemade bread puts this thing into overdrive! Crispy on the outside, light, delicate but not falling apart and heavy enough to hold together all that deliciousness without being filling like you just ate a large pizza. Now to the ridiculous tomato basil soup. I love the clam chowder but the tomato basil is my favorite. Savory, full of flavor, smooth, creamy and not greasy. This in my opinion is the perfect pairing to the meatball sub. You're welcome! The customer service here is amazing too just like the owners and the food. You will always be greeted by a smiling face, and treated like family. You will not regret stopping here. I've eaten the Meatball sub, The Philly, the lasagna and The Gyro ( lamb and chicken) all have been 10 out of 10. The ambiance is like a neighborhood dinner with a small dining room. Unfortunate that this is the day I decided it was about time I left a review for House Of Bread…read more House of Bread is a lovely space, airy light dining room, and lots of baked goods, and artisanal-looking jarred goods. It feels very open. They have a menu on the wall, and a chalkboard with the types of bread available that day. Husband orders cheesy broccoli soup, and she tells him "it's not really cheesy broccoli soup, it's got lots of veggies in it too" ok, he says, but still orders a bowl. I choose Tuna Salad, and I select 14 grain as my bread choice - "sorry, we're out of that", so I then choose 9 grain - "sorry, we're out of that", and so I ask for marbled rye - "sorry, we're out of that too" I'm really quite surprised, as it's 12.30 like prime lunch time, and they're out of 3 breads already? Maybe cross them off your chalkboard, so you don't have to keep disappointing people. So i choose focaccia with my fingers crossed, and all was well. The order was complete at 12.36. We sit. We wait. Twiddling our fingers. By 20 minutes I'm becoming impatient, because I'm hangry, and the dining room is not that full - maybe 5 tables. As there are 4 staff working behind the counter (could be more round the back in the bakery) I think service could be faster, to dish up a bowl of premade soup, and assemble a cold tuna salad sandwich. Anyway i get my eye on the young man making sandwiches. He's not wearing gloves, is running his fingers through his hair, and touching his face. I see a sandwich that was on the top of the shelf, and it either fell, or he threw it, onto presumably a bench below, and then reach up angrily for a new bag of bread, I don't know - maybe he made it wrong, and was starting over. By 1.02, (26 minutes later) husband could take it no more and went to get a refund. This is not the review I expected to be leaving today, as I've never had service like this here before. I've never gone here before and had to choose my bread 4 times, due to them running out. I've never had to wait so long for lunch using pre-made ingredients. I don't know what was going on, but it's nothing like all the other times we've been here, and I hope it's a one off. If I go back and see the same staff, I'll just walk straight out again and avoid another experience like this one.
