Everything here is on the pricier side, especially considering the food/drinks are good but not that impressive, but the ambience is super cute. I come here occasionally to study or read, and the outdoor area is really nice. There aren't a lot of outlets or indoor seating space though, so it can be hard to study here for long. - salmon avocado toast (4.5/5) - tasted great and this is a good problem to have, I guess, but only complaint is that there was too much avocado to bread. - matcha latte (4/5) - standard matcha latte, nothing too special, but didn't come out piping hot for some reason, hence the 4/5 - cafe au lait (3/5) - not pictured. Despite the pricy price point, I love this place. The chagaccino latte ($9 with oat milk), uses monk fruit and mushroom and is delicious! Has great deep coffee flavor and mushroom ice cubes which was super cute. The kouign amann was good, the strawberry made the center a bit mushy but the flavor was delicious. We stopped in because of their sandwich board strategically placed on the street and because, as cat people, we couldn't resist that adorable logo! The coffee was only okay and the beans for sale didn't list any tasting notes so we (brother & cousin) didn't buy any beans to take home. $20 for 12oz is a a little on the pricy side, especially buying blind? I ordered and oat milk latte, brother & cousin ordered matcha latte, all with oat milk. They charge $1 extra for oat milk..... these non-dairy milk surcharges are ridiculous and I hope more coffee shops will move away from them eventually. The drinks were okay. I tasted the matcha latte which had 0 flavor. Couldn't really taste much except the oat milk. Needs a lot more matcha imo. The ambiance of this coffee shop is super nice with an adorable garden/patio in back. This is the perfect place to post up and get work done, or to sit and have coffee with a friend. The employees are really nice. I'd probably be back to hang out and work but it wouldn't be the coffee that brought me back. I might try some pourovers next time though. read more

The interior is beautiful, as you enter you'll see a menu to your left and on the right you can see their cute merchandise such as coffee cups with their logo on it. The interior seems pretty big if they allowed customers to sit inside, but wait....it gets better. They have a rear patio where customers can spread out, drink a cup of coffee, relax, read, or even study. They offer a variety of coffee such as espressos, cappuccinos, lattes, mocha, matcha, cold brew, tea and plus you can can custom brew your coffee. I really like coffee they have here and if you wanted coffee for your home, they have coffee beans for you to take home. I would definitely come back here not just for the coffee, but the space here is so nice. My friends and I were looking for a nice cafe to study at. We were hoping that this place wasn't super crowded and had a nice ambiance. Though it was both of those things, we had trouble finding some seating. Certain tables were unable to be occupied because the shade sails above them were carrying so much rain from the previous days, it was dripping onto the tables below. It was also very cold and unfortunately on the day we went, they didn't turn on the fireplace. This cafe does have lovely service! The barista was very friendly and it was great conversing with them as they took my order. Overall, I would definitely come back during warmer weather! Cafenated is a beautiful cafe with a gorgeous patio and great coffee. I'd definitely come back for coffee & their delicious pastries (they're from Starter Bakery) but I was a little disappointed in the brunch. First, if you're coming for brunch, go straight to the back to be seated! We made the mistake of waiting in the front line, but that's for the cafe and to-go orders only. If you want to sit on the patio, you go to the back where they'll seat you and give you a menu. It wasn't busy, which was a nice surprise for a Saturday, and we were seated immediately. The patio is gorgeous and heated too. There's lots of lush greenery and flowers, which made for a peaceful morning. We even saw some hummingbirds. The entrees we ordered were definitely on the smaller side. We ordered the avocado toast eggs Benedict which was ($20) and came with one piece of toast topped with smoked salmon, pesto, avocado, one poached egg and hollandaise sauce. This was definitely the better menu item out of the two we ordered. We also ordered the spicy chicken & waffles ($18) which I wouldn't order again - I was expecting bone-in fried chicken, but the chicken pieces were just small spicy chicken nuggets served on two small waffles with a small side of fresh berries. For $18, this was definitely not enough food. We added a side of potatoes for $7, which were pretty tasty. We saw some people order the omelet and it looked like a pretty sizable portion, so I'd probably recommend that if you're hungry. We also got the oat chai latte and a macchiato, which were both delicious, and a babka. These items, and the patio, were the highlight of the meal! Cafenated is a solid coffee shop to get work done or catch up with a friend. The drinks are pretty dependable, and the wifi is strong, so you really can't go wrong here! There's some seating indoors (with a few outlets, too) but the real highlight is Cafenated's outside patio decorated with plenty of seating and plants. Today, I sipped a surprisingly delicious oat chai while enjoying the sun in the patio, and there was even a live band playing! I do think the drinks are bit on the expensive side, but the ambiance certainly makes up for it. I wish the back was also open for seating but they reserve that area for brunch (which wasnt super clear to me since it was my first time there). [Covid Review] My sister suggested to visit this coffee place before we start our weekly routine grocery. I parked my car on the street where close by residence and we walked to the shop less than 2 minutes. We love how cozy the place and luckily we came early before start having more people. We ordered 2 lattes and 1 mocha. The coffee tasted smooth and aromatic to us. We have them paper cup to go. Actually, we're thinking about getting the cup and have them there but after we talking to the staff, it's better order with brunch, then can sit on their outdoor seating, so we decided to do this next time. Quick Summary - Coffee isn't sour, bold and nutty - Matcha latte is light, little matcha flavor Had a cappuccino and a matcha latte and took a seat in the outdoor garden (very pretty and quite peaceful, even with a lot of guests). I enjoyed the cappuccino. The coffee had a bold and rich flavor; it blew away my drowsiness. The coffee's flavor beat milk, so it's a strong one. The matcha latte, on the other hand, was light. Great spot for coffee or tea and respective cafe pastries :) I've tried their coffee cake, as well as their avocado toast, and both are mighty tasty. Their oat chai can get a little sweet (I haven't yet asked if I can get the sweetness reduced), but it comes out piping hot in a nice cup to enjoy either out on the sidewalk or in the back patio area. The back patio area of Cafenated Coffee is probably in my top 5 favourite patios in Berkeley, and I do not say this lightly! But you need to either a) get there early or b) be ready to swoop in on a spot in order to secure a seat. It fills up quick and stays full until closing. I haven't yet had a chance to explore more of their menu, but I'm excited to live so close by that I can! read more

There aren't too many main courses that are vegan and since there was no option to remove the salmon and pesto from the original menu item -- the two main ingredients driving up the price -- I ordered just a basic avo with olive oil and chili flakes. What a lovely greenhouse patio, sunny yet cool, airy yet blocked from the breeze. This is what I want my garden to be, a fully grown herb garden with hummingbirds flitting about. Five stars just to hang out with coffee and a friend without getting rushed to leave. The coffee drinks themselves are very good. The cappuccino came in a generous sized mug that felt smooth and sturdy. The pastries are from Starter (and priced accordingly). That back patio though. Plenty of seating and lots of plants. You'll have to be in luck to get a prime seat in the shade (or a seat for that matter, it's crowded), but you can kind of wait it out and jump on a table when someone leaves. Even the inside is nice and more spacious than outside. They do sell lunch items, and definitely don't bring outside food in (welp, sorry)! I think I saw beer and wine, as well. 2 bathrooms outside makes it even more COVID safe. Overall, a great, albeit crowded spot for a study/work sesh or catchup. Prices are pricy. Amazing coffee shop! I can here to do homework with my friend. The patio is amazing to study. It is a big green house, with big tables and a lot of plants. There is nice music playing in the back. Their coffee and matcha latte were delicious. I got there around 3pm and they told me the kitchen was close so I unfortunately wasn't able to get food but my friend did and she said it was delicious. I love the music and atmosphere at this place. I found street parking right away. There is plenty of parking in the surrounding areas. If you need a new study setting this is the place. Met with a patron at her favorite coffee spot near her home. The location used to be a Chinese restaurant and surprised to find a completely renovated charming coffee shop. Easy ordering and pick up. At 10:00am we found a table in the patio. It's beautiful. Of course, a number of Cal students wirelessly connected with AirPods and computers working. My guest raved about the brunch service, so I will have to return. Parking on the street is always a challenge however, I parked at the nearby supermarket half a block away. read more
