Totally disappointed with their lasagna. It took almost 20 minutes to get it, was cold and extremely salty. Did not come with the house salad like their billboard shows. I love this place. I'm a vegetarian so this was a real treat for me. They have great lentil soup. I think I'll try the split pea next time. The lady who took my order was very helpful. My friends and I came to the restaurant with our kids for lunch. It was their first time however I had been to Cafesano a handful of times before. We requested a table in the patio area plus two high chairs for the kids. The high chairs they gave us were covered in mud and dust so we asked one of the employees to wipe down the table and the high chairs. They were still dirty nonetheless. We assumed they'd give us the high chairs from the inside of the restaurant but unfortunately that was not the case. Two orders (friend's orders) arrived shortly after we sat down however even after they were done eating, my pasta and two kids meals were still missing. I approached one of the employees and he vanished with zero communication. I came back out and then went back in to inquire about the remainder of the food and still no response. My pasta order and one kids meal finally came out. We asked about the last kids meal and the server said that we had never ordered it and brought over the wrong order receipt. We informed him that was the wrong order receipt and we did order the nuggets. He rushes back inside and a few minutes later comes running out with the order of the nuggets. I was better off canceling my pasta order because the pasta was swimming in an overloaded amount of Alfredo sauce and cheese. It was very hard to get halfway through my plate. I was extremely disappointed since it was not my first time however it may be my last. I understand that the restaurant was busy however there was zero communication and it experience was a complete mess. read more

Love this place! Have come here a couple times as well as the one in Reston. Great pizza, salads, shawarma. Also a great kids menu. I only wish they had a location in N Arlington where we live - we'd be there all the time. read more

I also have been waiting for the new location to open. I work near the reston location and eat there sometimes three times a week. The food and service are consistently excellent. The menu is fresh and healthy. The wait for the Sterling location was worth it. They did a beautiful job on the decor and atmosphere including the big patio with fire pits. I love that they have a full bar which is inviting and looks out to the patio. The food is just as great as at the reston place. Well done Cafesano! read more

I have loved Cafesano since its opening at the Reston location years ago. My family eats there often, and now we are going to the Dulles location, which is actually closer to us, and we love it as well. I love the ambience, the really good, fresh food, the servers are so nice, and the new manager at Dulles is making vast strides in the place. It has something for everybody, and the bar is a nice addition, and obviously will draw greater numbers. The location is great, and near, but not in the mall area. We are so pleased that you are closer to us now, and hope that the new location will turn out to be even better than the older one. Love the addition of the fireside dining on the patio, although we have yet to try it. read more

The ambience and aesthetics of the restaurant was lovely, and I enjoyed the layout of the place. Everything other than the food was great, and when I got my order of the "Bianca Insalata" ( a brick oven pizza) I was captured by it's beautiful aroma. However, I was not happy when I dug into the pizza; the caramelized onions took over the whole pizza, and the arugula somehow made the pizza taste extremely bitter. My friend who accompanied me was also unhappy with her order, simply because of the taste and execution of the dish. read more

This is a really nice place. I have been here a couple of times and have had the beef shawarma, arrabiata pizza, and the pollo pizza. The food is really good and the menu has a lot of items (may even make you indecisive). They also have a patio with a huge fire pit which is great on slightly chilly nights when you want to eat outside. The atmosphere is warm and cozy. And even though they stay packed, the service is still good. read more

Average but not terrible (far from it actually- maybe a 3.5). The service was friendly and fast. Restaurant was neat and clean. But my food... I was just expecting more out of the food because Cafesano had come so highly recommended to me by a friend. I got the Avocado, Tomato & Mozzarella Salad (which was nice but a tad too under seasoned) with a steak skewer. The meat was tough and chewy. I ordered online and I wish there was an option for me to choose how I wanted the steak prepared. I got a side of the "Greek Potatoes" which turned out to just be bland potato wedges. I was expecting a lot more out of those potatoes based on the name but they weren't even seasoned or prepared in any special way. The sauce that came with them was fantastic though. I probably won't go back just because the food was so average and there is a Panera right around the corner where I can basically get the same things for less. read more

Adding a star since I've tried the falafel again. This time in the falafel sandwich rather than as just an appetizer. Much better. They provided tzatziki and tahini sauce on the side. I always prefer tahini for falafel, but I tried the tzatziki too and it was pretty good. read more

Got takeout for lunch today. I would rate this place at 2.5 stars. I ordered the seasoned steak kebab platter. The steak was pretty bland and was not seasoned well at all. There wasn't even any sense of salt and pepper. The meat was kind of tough. I think it was sirloin. When you don't make it your mission to make the meat the central focus of your dish i can't recommend it. The grilled vegetables , rice and pita bread were good but the tasteless meat ruined it for me. I don't know if I'll return. I would recommend Darya Kebab in Sterling. It's small but the food is excellent. read more

Came here while traveling in the area. Delicious food, and fantastic service! I've never been to a counter order place with such follow up. You can even order additional items at the table. I was also very thankful how accommodating they are to restricted diets. They have a gluten free menu, which includes most of the menu, and they are very willing to substitute items or omit items. Good beer selection and a full bar as well. It really felt like they bent over backwards to make sure we were satisfied. So happy we came. read more

This place is a hidden gem in eastern Loudoun. The service is exceptional and the ambience is nice, especially considering you're near the mall. The food is fresh and prepared with great care. I've always had the kabobs and Greek options, but I've heard the pizza is excellent as well. I'm a fan of the kabobs, chicken shawarma, and homemade tatziki (I know I'm terribly misspelling that). Good before, not so now (7-2017). Actually 2/3 people in my group had intestinal issues after eating here. For the specifics, I agree with some other yelpers, they need to hire the right staff and train them. The extremely young person at the counter got 2/3 items wrong on my bill. If I hadn't double checked I would have been over charged and got the wrong food. I went back to the order taker and he seemed completely baffled by how what I stated 3 minutes ago was different than what was on the ticket. For one order he typed in a different meal because we selected the Fettachini noodle (the menu allows that) because "that is a more expensive noodle". Whaaaa? He up-charged me because he wasn't familiar with the menu options? He also billed me for Salmon (more $) instead of Shrimp but said "don't worry I told them it is shrimp". Whaaaaa??? Parden me, I would like the extra money you just charged me for the wrong items. Then one dish that was to have no cheese at all in/on it comes out with cheese on top. The server was distressed when I said it is supposed to be no cheese. I saw him go back to the order taker, who was shaking his had no, presumably saying I never said that. Well I did, and by the way we can see you from our table. THEN order taker brings out a second shrimp kabob and says are you still waiting or this? We were honest and said nope, we got the first one, but would be happy to eat that seeing as how the third person in our group has now waited 45 minutes for his pasta with no cheese. Did the young order taker leave said shrimp? Noooo he said he would go ask his manager and never bothered to come back. Guess he ate it. Wrong order on 3/3 people, delayed food, had to eat in shifts instead of together, tried to rip me off by up-charging me for things I did not get, offered no coupon, no apology and could have changed it all by saying, "oh well" here is an extra shrimp for all your troubles. UGH. Provide training. Educated them on what to do if they make a mistake (say you are sorry, make it better, offer customer something). Oh and also try to fix whatever it is that now gives your guests food poisoning. read more

I really liked this place the first few times I went, but recently they have been missing the mark. A couple visits ago, I came for a late lunch on a weekday. Maybe 2-3 other people were there but it took them 20-30 minutes to make me and my wife's salads. Then I made an online order today and when I got there to pick it up they said their online ordering system had problems so they didn't make my food. Then when they finally made my food one of my side items was wrong. If something like this keeps happening with this sort of frequency I might start avoiding this place. Nice, clean, trendy atmosphere inside and patio areas. Food was good. The grilled kabobs / meats / vegetables were very good! Their wood-stone-fire grill gives it a tasty, smoky flavor and aroma. Depending on the dish, the portions seemed to range from just-right to slightly less than expected. We had ordered the chicken kabob platter, pasta marinara with grilled chicken, and the avocado, tomato & mozzarella salad, and steak kabob. The process of ordering at the counter, having our orders brought to our table, and throwing things away ourselves and placing our plates & silverware in the bins reminded me of Panera Bread. Business seemed a bit light at the time when we visited. But, the service seemed a little lacking the day that we visited. On the day we visited, both of their beverage / ice dispensing machines were completely out of ice. We had ordered a steak kabob as an after-thought after our initial order. After waiting 20 minutes for the steak kabob, I decided to go to the counter to inquiry about it and was told it will be out to us soon. After another 5-10 minutes, one of the waiters came to our table and informed us that the kabob had been overcooked in the kitchen. The first thing that came to mind was that they either forgot to actually make our order or forgot about the kabob cooking on the grill. They were nice enough to refund the charge for steak kabob, but still bring a newly grilled kabob to us. If the service had been better at this place, I may have considered giving this restaurant 4 stars. read more

Cafesano has been our go to when we want something quick and tasty. I love the food especially the grilled chicken pesto panini, steak skewers, and the spicy pasta. Prices are fair and customer service has gotten better. read more

Been to Cafesano in Sterling twice now. Both times, the food was PHENOMENAL! I had the steak kabobs and my coworker had the salmon, which we split in half to share. The salmon kabobs were cooked perfectly with a crisp outside and moist inside, and flavored very well. The biggest concern of mine was the attitude of the staff both times we went. Our first visit was within their first few weeks of opening, which means they of course are working out kinks. We went on an hour long lunch break, which would typically allow us to get in and out of most restaurants. We ordered a hummus appetizer (delicious) and that came out almost immediately after we sat down. But then 35 minutes later we still had not received our meals, and it was coming time for us to be back at the office. We asked a woman clearing the table next to us if she was able to check on our food, because we were running out of time to eat here. She huffed at us and rolled her eyes, and went to the kitchen. 5 minutes later she came out with our meals, and at this point we had to get boxes to go. We apologized to her profusely (which we shouldn't have had to...) and asked if she wouldn't mind bringing us boxes. This seemed to agitate her more and she picked up our plates and said nothing as she walked back to the kitchen. My coworker and I looked at each other in shock of her attitude, and wondered if somehow we were in the wrong for asking this. A separate waiter returned with our boxed food as well as a coupon for 2 free meals next time we came, which we didn't expect to be given at all. Once we got back to our offices we ate and the food was so good, plus we had that voucher, so we decided to go back 2 weeks later. This time the restaurant was less busy, and had been open longer, so we figured kinks likely would've been smoothed out by now. When we went to place our orders we informed the woman at the front register that we had a voucher for 2 free meals, and she (like the last woman) huffed at us, and rolled her eyes as if she was exasperated. My coworker and I exchanged a confused look with each other. We were confused why it would appear that the coupon we were given was such a big deal. She called over a manager and with attitude dripping from her voice told him we had a coupon that we wanted to use and he needs to override our meals. I offered to pay for our drinks and apparently he ended up giving it to us all free, which we again didn't expect but did appreciate. The food got to us much quicker this time, and we got to enjoy warmer winter weather and actually ate outside on the terrace. My feelings about Cafesano are so mixed, because the food is phenomenal and the actions (ie the free meals and drinks) are thoughtful and appropriate, but the attitudes are shocking in a restaurant as nice as Cafesano. We will continue to eat here because the food is very good, but I hope that management would read this and speak to their staff about customer service and basic friendliness. Nothing deters me more from a restaurant or store than snobby/rude workers. I worked in customer service for 4 years in management roles and I understand long days and difficult people, but I would never allow my staff to treat customers like that. Anyways, end of the day, food is very good and price point is reasonable, and the place is very well decorated and kept up with. read more

We've been going to the Cafesano in Reston for many years and consider it the best restaurant of its kind (fast casual) in Reston. The new one near the Dulles Town Center has food that is just as good AND it has an absolutely beautiful design inside. Much roomier. Kudos to the design team. read more

Just had our first go at Cafesano and we loved it! We had the hummus and eggplant dip sampler, which came with tons of pita bread, and my husband ordered the chicken wrap and I the chicken kabob platter. We added a bottle of cab and the total was just over $50 for dinner. They had highchairs for our daughter, and when we left her jacket the bus boy chased us down in the parking lot. So nice. The dips were delicious and I had so much platter leftover I brought home a go box for lunch. We will definitely be back soon! read more
