ITALIAN WITHOUT THE SPLURGE: My favorite here is the spaghetti Bolognese. I've ordered it many times and it never disappoints. I've also worked through several other pasta dishes and they've all been solid. The pizza is good and the meatballs are especially tasty. Bottom line, you get the quality of a sit down Italian restaurant at more affordable prices. That makes it an easy choice when you want something good without checking your budget first. They even offer bottles of wine around $30 if you want to make it feel a little more like a night out. It's truly a family run place. The husband and wife have been working here for as many years as I've been coming, and that consistency shows. They don't make their own desserts other than the cannolis, which is easy to forgive given everything else they do well. This place is a clear step above most fast casual Italian spots. When Pomodoro Fairfax closed a few years ago I thought I would never get another chance to experience their spectacular pizza that I had been ordering for decades, never finding its equal. While I did find another really good pie in Andy's Pizza, even that as great as it is did not quite measure up. Only today, did I try the Pomodoro location in Sterling, not really expecting it to measure up (as I had previously heard it was different), but wanted to at least say I tried it before giving up on ever tasting the perfect pie again. I am delighted to report that the extra cheese pie I ordered was *exactly* the way I remember it from the defunct Pomodoro Fairfax location. The perfect sauce, the moderately salty whole milk mozzerella cheese with a a crust that has just the right consistency was all intact - no change from my fine memories. In short, it was a perfect match and a perfect pie! It goes without saying I will be back, but next time I will try the Chicken Parm (another standout from Pomodoro Fairfax). This time I will go in with the high expectations that it will be the same too. In short, this restaurant easily gets my highest recommendation to all. Five stars and then some! read more

Ordered carry out yesterday. The Caesar salads was drowned in dressing. The mozzarella sticks several did not have any cheese and veal parm tasted like over cooked breaded something. Door dash should not include this list of restaurants. If I could given them a zero I would what a waste of money. read more

I'm so happy that they are back! I used to visit the Fairfax location all the time and would bring family and friends there for great, quick and quality Italian food. To be honest, I've almost always just had their pizza because it is some of the best NY style, thin crust with the perfect sauce and toppings. The staff was so friendly and polite. I really like the location and the interior of the restaurant is very Italian inspired and not overly loud. The booths are actually quite private when it comes to most other restaurants. We ordered from this place for delivery last night. The food was HORRIBLE!!! We've ordered from them before, and they were OK before. However, Pomodo Pizza Pasta & More has resorted to using really cheap ingredients and boiling the heck out of their pasta to the point the pasta dishes were all mushy. I ordered the Vitello Piccata under the Veal section of their menu, and what I received was a large portion of pasta with a tiny slice of overcooked veal on top. To add insult to injury, the veal had been overcooked to the point of being rubbery, and the pasta had been boiled to the point of just being a messy, tasteless mush. My son ordered their spaghetti vongole, and instead of using fresh clams like in other mediocre-to-better restaurants, they used bits of canned clams that was rubbery and bland... My son's comment was, "Dad, this doesn't taste like vongole," before he spit out his food. The spaghetti was overcooked to mush. We had to throw out both my dish and his. We've lived in Italy and fell in love with Italian food precisely because it uses fresh or at least high-quality ingredients prepared in a very simple manner. What we received for dinner last night from Pomodoro Pizza Pasta & More would have caused the restaurant to be run out of business in any Italian neighborhood. This is one of those 'best kept secrets' kinda places - the neighborhood folks were barreling in & out with pizza, calzone, stromboli, yada, yada. And, yet we still got terrific service when we decided to eat in. I ordered ravioli - sooo good! It came with crusty Italian rolls which got immediately dipped into the sauce before I even tasted the cheesy pillows. Hubs ordered stromboil - he's a picky eater & he loved it! This was the 4th order to Pomodoro, and to date, we have ordered just their pizza - which has been above average. We decided to venture out tonight and order their $13 wings (for 8 wings, which was a market price, I think). When Uber Eats delivered the food and we opened the package, we were not just unsatisfied - our DOG would not eat them. They were hard as a rock, and there was so little meat on them, that you could actually see more bone than meat. Unfortunately Uber Eats wouldn't remove the charge, so I am putting this out as a PSA so you don't make the same mistake ordering them. I doubt we would have received this if we were dine-in patrons, or even picking up directly. But if we are not reimbursed by them, it will be the last time we order anything from them. read more

I am going to go easy on this restaurant because I like the food and atmosphere and am a big fan of their Fairfax location. It is as close as I can get to a New York style trattoria. The prices here are a bit steep, and I found the overall presentation of the food to be pretty poor, but I also think I got the wrong things and I blame myself 100% for it. I got the Calamari and the Ziti Quattro Formaggi, and wow, is the ziti rich. Do not get this without a Pepto. The Calamari is dense and you only get the rings, no tentacles. Bummer. The owner is a nice guy, and finding out that his restaurant was endorsed by a US President helps build a reputation. It was also nice to see they now partner to Uber Eats to deliver. But for them to deliver to me would be difficult, so I will just have to make do with the tools I have right now, and go there when I want something. I am reluctant to write them off because who knows? Maybe next time I will be smarter, order something better and it will taste great! Or not... Any-who, better luck next time, I guess. Was craving a steak and cheese sandwich and mozzarella sticks. The food arrived in a good amount of time but I was sooo disappointed. The sandwich was soggy and flavorless and needed more cheese. The combo which was 3 onion rings, 3 mozzarella sticks and a ton of fries was beyond terrible. The cheese was not even melted in the mozzarella sticks and the breading was soggy and falling off the hardened cheese, the onion rings were soggy and undercooked and the fries were limp and soggy and so gross. None of the combo was edible so I had to throw it out. $9 down the drain. Not sure what happened with the food here but I won't be ordering from this place again. Wanted to like It but after the food I received from them, no way. Very disappointed. read more

It's a great value -- get the extra large, and take home the leftovers. The cost difference just makes it economical because it's minimal from the other sizes. The pizza is absolutely delicious. It's just a tad bit greasy and the crust tends to get soggy after sitting 15-20 minutes. But I really liked the flavor. While Pomodoro isn't my favorite pizza in the northern Virginia area (Vocelli and Delia's get that designation), it's a close third right there along with Papa John's. (Say what you will, PJ's might be a chain, but their pizza is done right!) Pro tip: Reheated breakfast Pomodoro pizza is even better than the first time because you can really crisp it up! read more

Second time eating here and getting take out. Today 9/16 I got a chicken parmigiana sub and fries. The chicken is so thin and when fried its like eating the overcooked scraps of chicken from frying vat all hard and hard to chew! It actually cut the roof of my mouth! Totally overcooked and not edible and had no taste! Fries were ok, glad I was able to eat something. Should have gone back to get my money back! I've never been served stale pizza before last night. 2 slices, must have been under the lights since lunch, minimum. Well we're there at 6, so really no excuses. The crust tasted like old cardboard. It was amazing that a pizza place would serve such rubbish. It did explain why the family at another table left 3/4 of a pizza and just split. The staff seemed confused by that, they must eat elsewhere. There's are 3 other places I can vouch for within 5 minutes of this establishment. We were a bit surprised when the Sicilian deep dish was so thick crusted, but a bit of googling reminded us that Sicilian pizza is toppings on a focaccia... So a lot of bread. Giovanni's in Leesburg was quite good until one of the partners left to start his own restaurant. They were better as one cohesive restaurant.
