    Cuban Sandwich

Don't know if it was bcuz I came in while the owner and a staff member were having their lunch or because they were about to close (next hr.) etc. I definitely didn't feel welcomed. No one didn't get up nor said hello, until I spoke. Made a trip only to try the Cafe con leche, which was a bit too milky. Sandwich Cubano was tender and seasoned good, but unevenly made & needed more ham. Would've came back to try their ice cream if the service had been better.

    Arroz con gandules. Great!

I really liked the place in the people who run it. I had the best cortadito I think I have ever had. It was delicious. I had arroz con gandules that was fantastic. I ordered a Cuban sandwich, which is was the only downfall. I expected to be a true Cuban sandwich but the guy at the counter told me they use mayonnaise instead of mustard cuz most people prefer the the Mayo. So a true Cuban sandwich is ham, swiss cheese pickles and yellow mustard with roast pork which is actually the key ingredient. The roast pork is marinated first in bitter or sour Orange with other herbs and it's called Mojo. Without the Mojo you don't have a Cuban. The roast pork that use I believe might just be regular Mexican carnitas which is what it tasted like. So would have been 5 stars but I thought the Cuban kind of lacked the taste of a Cuban. I would still recommend checking them out but I would probably try the empanadas or ham and cheese sandwich.

I had the lechon plate and it was pretty good. I wish it were more mosit but for the price can't complain. Itgood cuban food without the expensive Northside prices.

An oasis Last Sunday morning was driving through this hood and wanted to have some breakfast. And even tough this is a cool hood, the more options the better. I had heard about this place that had recently open and decided to check it out. We park in front and from the outside the building looks normal, but once inside it is a pretty cool place, simple but very well decorated. Few tables and even some small lounging chairs and coffee table. We proceed to the counter and check out the menu. I tasted the Cuban, media noche and ham-egg-cheese sandwiches. All of them were good and the bread was perfectly toasted with good fillings inside. Not a huge coffee drinker here but my friends is and I had a couple of sips from his coffee and it was freshly ground and super flavorful. I had a hot cocoa and it was perfect. They have other drinks and sandwiches that I am looking forward to try next time I come here. The service was great, literally. Owners came by a couple of times to check on us and make sure everything was perfect and even went out of their way to provide my table with hot peppers, yes hot peppers there is no complete meal without hot peppers LOL. Cafeteria Yesenia, oasis in the middle of a desert of options

Friggin AWESOME. The food and service were top notch. Great people, great Cuban food and a super cute place!! We live far north but were at US Cellular for a race. If you are in the area, it's a great little place -just a few miles from the stadium!!

Every sandwich I've had has been delicious! I've had the cuban, jibarito, and 2 or 3 others. Never disappoints.

We tried the empanada trio with pork, chicken, and ham-n-cheese, and all were tasty; the lechon [pork] was especially great. For mains, my spouse ordered the masitas de cerdo (fried pork) and I got the pollo a la plancha (grilled chicken). We both opted for congri and maduros for sides. The flavor of everything was delicious! The meat was slightly on the dry side, and the maduros were SO sweet that we wondered if they were bananas rather than plantains, but overall we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The portions were plentiful. If we weren't staying in a hotel with a fridge but no microwave, we definitely would've had enough to take home for a whole other meal each. We would definitely be regular patrons if we didn't live hours away!

We also got the cuban sandwich. The Cuban sandwich was good but lacked any real flavor. Not sure if it's because it was delivered (so not as hot off the grill). But it was good, just not great. Next time I'd reheat it first. The empanadas were very good. We enjoyed a variety. My favorite was the pork. The steak and chicken entree's (both grilled) were ok and were both closer to 3 stars at best, maybe 2. The meat was tender but was a little bland, and as a to-go dish, the presentation is just unappetizing. I wouldn't order those again. The sandwiches are good to try in the future.

So searching in Yelp I see a Cuban restaurant, and that's my fav, so I went in and I had a great early dinner. Cafecito would be at home in a pre-revolutionary Cuban building, when Art Deco architecture permeated much of Havana and the other major cities in Cuba. Plenty of outdoor seating, but I chose to eat in the cafe area due to time constraints. I had the Vaca Frita which I haven't had in over 60 years and wow, it was amazing. It came with the proverbial white rice, black beans with plenty of condiment, and maduros. Oh yummy. My Cuban grandma would have been pleased... The waiter was indeed, a Cuban American who had come over during the early Cuban diaspora. We chatted a bunch about the old country and had a pleasant conversation about being from the same province in the island. Great reminiscing, great food, great service. Yum.
