Very cute cafe. Decent menu, but not too many options. The brie and fig baguette was great and with a water and chips, only ran about $13. Gotta give these guys credit for keeping things running fairly smoothly on an insane Sat. I got a couple croissants and iced coffee to go which were good. But the insanity in there with a large party of 20 people plus everyone else must have been trying. The people working were very nice tho one gal didn't have her mask on. And they need to double check on customers using tables. One girl had her water bottle, one had McDonald's food and a couple had drinks from Dunkin. The place is always busy given that it is right in downtown. I tried their brownies but it wasn't that tasty. It was dry and tasted pretty average. But, their Caramel Latte was BOMB!!!! The great cafe in Downtown Boston, is serving some wonderful cafe goodies. First impression walking in is the incredibly fantastic decorations and library wall behind the counter. The crystal(glass) chandeliers are amazing. The drink menu is typical of what you find at other cafes. I opted for a flat white (only one size). To me, it was made to perfection (they even remade it when they realized the espresso pull was too long). The coffee was of good quality to boot. What stands out at Cafe Nero is the customer service. I was greeted upon entry and the baristas ensured that I was taken care of immediately, despite the place being so busy. They even took the time to converse a bit after my order was taken. Great cafe for coffee and getting online. Compared to other internet cafes, Caffe Nero stands out in regards to the comfy and cozy and variety of seating areas, excellent frozen coffee, and high-speed wifi. There are several of these popping up all over Boston. Each one has a great seating area conducive to logging on for a while (3-hour wifi limit - no Netflix or Youtube access) or a coffee with a friend or business meeting. There's a variety of tables and chairs, 2 seater booths, couches, and lounge chairs. The wifi signal is strong and never have had any issues no matter how busy the place is. I've rarely seen any location not busy so it's not the best place for a phone call. Be mindful of other patrons! I'm a Dunk's frozen coffee person but the frozen coffee here stands out for its wonderful aroma and strong taste! Loyalty stamp card available when you buy a coffee. I haven't had the food here. As previous Yelper, Christine B., stated it's one of those cafes that are perfect to take pictures in. It has the right level of aesthetics to increase your 'gram game. This two-story coffee shop is spacious and seems like a pretty popular spot for those who want to grab coffee and leave, study, or to get some work done. There are seats inside and outside of the cafe, but Yelpers be warned that they can be taken quickly - especially those with the coveted power outlets. I ordered a cold brew and got a caprese sandwich. I felt like the cold brew overall was decent, but the sandwich fell flat. It was one of those pre-made sandwiches they just re-heat and this is nothing to the worker's fault but the quality of the sandwich itself fell flat for me. All the flavors were there, but the bread was too chewy for my taste. You really had to work to finish this sandwich, but a hungry girl's gotta do what a hungry girl's gotta do. Overall, this is not a terrible coffee shop to visit. It is beautiful and the ambiance alone could keep me coming back if I was a local. The customer service was also really great as they were all very friendly, attentive and quick to answer any questions and to get our orders just right. tldr; Aesthetics and ambiance is a winner. I love this new location in Downtown Crossing (corner of Summer and Hawley, next to Pret A Manger, but in same building that houses the DTX station and Primark). This place may not be as spacious as the Chinatown/Theater District location, but there's plenty of room! There's a long communal table in the center of the cafe, and there are lots of seats along the perimeter. There is also a fireplace (with couches on both sides), which has been lovely for these recent freezeblasts! This location also has a loft (small but cozy!). Perfect place to grab a coffee/pastry on your way to work, or to have a pleasant toddler-free coffee date with your loving spouse :-P. There are a few booths for those who have work to do. So, order your favorite beverage (hot or cold), grab your favorite pastry (sweet or savory), and enjoy the ambience (also great people watching opportunities with the hustle and bustle of shoppers and commuters).....or just go on your merry way to work. The staff here used to be awesome. Fast, friendly, accurate. In the last month or two, this location has become absolutely unusable. I was starving at lunch and had 10 minutes free to grab a bite. I ran in here for a quick sandwich to go, and have been waiting in a line of 3 customers waiting to order for 12 minutes now. The employees are unbelievably, shockingly slow. You have to repeat your order about 4 times before they remember it. Really a shame. This used to be my go to coffee or quick lunch spot. I will be going elsewhere from now on. read more

Great quick coffee stop and a really convenient location. There were a few tables available but it was very busy around lunchtime. I had the regular size hot apple cider and it was AMAZING So cinnamony and delicious! Went here to meet someone after work. We we're not really hungry so we decided to go to this coffee place next door. I got a white chocolate mocha and it was excellent. It's really a chill place, people bring their laptops and stuff to chill or study and just do whatever in there. Caffè Nero has several locations across Boston/Cambridge, and this is by far one of my favorite spots for coffee chats. Located right next to Downtown Crossing T station, this location is spacious and big, so you usually can get a seat at one of the long tables or somewhere upstairs. The booths are cozy and comfortable. Overall decor has a rustic vibe. Great selection of coffee and pastries. I got the hot chocolate which was delicious -- not too sweet and had a touch of chocolate shavings on top. A couple days ago I've visited Caffè Nero in Downtown of Boston, right in front of the Macy's. So: 1. A lot of people. This place is very busy, since there is huge stream of people, going from/to work, tourists, onlookers and anybody else; 2. A lot of tables and seats. They even have a second floor but with just 3-5 2-seat tables. All tables always busy. If you see that somebody left you have just a couple of seconds to catch this place, otherwise somebody will seat right before you; 3. A lot of baristas. In my day there were 3-5 baristas. It is great since the line increased with each second. 4. This place has a huge stone fireplace. As a conclusion - I very like this Caffè Nero, but I won't come here to work, to many people. But to grab a cup of coffee with Pistachio Muffin - with pleasure. read more

Nice cold drizzly day jogging the park I loved coming in here for its style and comfort. I had a simple Chai Latte and sat around to soak in the local Bostonians. Friendly & chatty in the early am. Let me do this by mentioning the pros and cons of this place. Pros: - Good location, convenient walk from South Station/Boston Common. - Power outlets to charge your phone. - Cozy furniture Cons: - I got a feeling after visiting this place thrice that the staff is not very excited about keeping the place clean. - Nothing exceptional on the menu, usual coffee, sandwiches etc. - Sandwiches, rolls etc. are missing. I mean you can see the name there but not the food item. They should be check more often and refill the missing stuff. - The person who takes the order needs to remember it and tell it to the cashier. I don't like the way they manage it. There is a lot of scope of giving out wrong orders or forgetting some. I hope they take serious note of this. - People sit in there forever, some even sleep. I don't know if the store manager (if they have one) can make sure this doesn't happen. People enter the store, buy some food/drinks and are forced to stand and eat or go out of the cafe because some other customers have been sitting/sleeping on the chairs for hours. I blame those people as well, not just the store, but ultimately what happens in the store can be controlled by the store. It's a private space. Overall, I am not happy with the experience. I've always enjoyed Caffè Nero's coffee, and this new location does not disappoint. They also have a nice selection of pastries and pre-made sandwiches. I tried the roasted veggie which was pretty good. There is a wide variety of seating options here, from the long table in the center to single booths to couches. There is also a small second floor with a small table and a couple couch chairs. The two Chinatown locations have very different vibes. While the other Chinatown cafe has a cozier feel with their dim lights and fireplace/bookshelves set-up, this location has much more natural lighting with the floor to ceiling windows and a more rustic/industrial feel with the open pipe system and metal chairs. My only complaint is that the line set up is a bit disorganized. There is a single long line and the servers will just go down and ask the next person what they'd like. But it's multiple servers going back and forth doing this so they often don't know who the last customer was, which results in many people getting asked twice or accidentally skipped. read more

It's amusing for me to see how Caffe Nero has taken off in metro Boston over the last couple of years. (I have enjoyed them in the U.K. off and on for over a decade.) Revisiting this location today reminded me how this particular branch seems to be a victim of its own success, with no patron seating immediately available on early Saturday night. Granted, it was Saturday, but one might hope that the patrons maintain slightly greater awareness of how long they have been there and/or if other patrons are seeking space. Having said that, one of the reasons why I enjoy Caffe Nero is their consistent strong taste and flavor of products. TRAINING - train your staff in order to have them succeed. My morning started pleasantly, my barista asked the lady in front of me her order, a breakfast sandwich, and then me mine, a flat white coffee. Not a complex set of orders. The barista went off and toasted the sandwich, including waiting next to the panini press until it was done. The lady paid for her sandwich, many folk behind us paid for their coffees - pastries - sandwiches. I wait patiently for my coffee. The barista is asking other baristas how to make a flat white... some give her hurried information. There is no teamwork in evidence. My barista attempts, 5 times! To make 2 shots of espresso with a little warm milk. I had to ask her how many shots were in the drink she finally presented me with, and she admitted, to her credit, only one... Attempt #6 - was to pour some of the warm coffee from my paper cup and add another shot. All the while other patrons get their orders and hot coffees. I left after another barista came over as mine was charging me for the drink I had waited almost 10 minutes for, she at least did not have me pay for the lukewarm cup of coffee that was not what I had ordered... But it seems was as close as someone who has not been trained to make coffee can do! I felt sorry for my barista, she had no idea how to make a coffee drink from there menu. So I say again -TRAINING! I was confronted for waiting in the store during a hot day while I waited 30 minutes to get a smoothie. Talked to the cashier after about 10 minutes but that didn't seem to speed up the process.
