Caffe Nero hits it out of the ballpark. That's a good thing folks! The location is directly next to the Courtyard Marriott Providence downtown. Also, within a block of Brown University making the ambience modern, perky and resilient. I was thrilled at the food options being that it's a cafe. My wife and I started with a vegan breakfast sandwich (brioche rolls filled with vegan egg, sausage and cheese) I washed mine down with an Italian soda which was not too bad, but it was canned. Of course, I can't be in New England and not have New England clam chowder. The chowder had plenty and I mean plenty of clam in it but it did get a little cold due to the weight of my server. The service was absolutely amazing. The young lady was so nice and I got the feeling it was her first day though. So, grace given there. She tried hard to remain friendly and positive. She even returned to ask if my wife would prefer to add vanilla and cinnamon to her latte. Nice touch! The manager training our server had his hands full but still took the time to be nice to us. Caffe Nero was filling up with people while my server was busy trying to prepare my order. She's only human and I could see her becoming visibly anxious and overwhelmed however she held it for appearance sakes. Hats off to her! Got their prosciutto mozzarella croissant and it was flaky on the outside, but the ham was very salty. I asked for the croissant to be warmed up and it was nicely heated when I got it. What a very nice coffee house in Providence, RI! I spotted the little gem from my hotel window and decided to give it a shot. So glad I did! The cappuccino was delicious and so was the chicken salad croissant! The two gentlemen behind the counter were extremely nice. They served each customer with a genuine smile and hello. Dang...I forgot to ask if they were the owners. I ate outside but the interior is very inviting. Pretty chic in my opinion! Was staying in PVD for a college visit and decided to get coffee and light breakfast here. Had to download the app to order ahead. Order was to have been ready at a certain time, so I walked over at that time. Twenty minutes after that time, I managed (after many attempts) to get ANYONE working to even make eye contact. You know the drill. The staff pretend you're not there so you get the message that hey, they're busy, leave them alone. I totally get it. There was a huge line. It's why I ordered ahead (and downloaded an app I don't need). (Incidentally, why offer online ordering if the timing is not remotely accurate? We'd have been better off standing in that long line. Folks who came in after we'd been standing there for ten minutes were in and out quicker.) It was over a half hour AFTER the time my order was promised before it was ready. Never mind the fact that it should not take 40 minutes to get two coffees, pre-prepared pastries, and a microwave egg thing. But for the love, please at least pretend it matters that there are people standing by the pickup area for 30 minutes. It will not kill you to just look up and say "hey we're so busy, I'm sorry". Deliberately ignoring someone who is politely trying to get your attention is downright rude. Your offerings are too expensive to have abysmal customer service. read more

And the drink came out like a macchiato- not mixed at all. Tried to go a second time for a quick lunch but the food selection was completely cleared out. I ordered a warm ham & cheese croissant which was tasty and on the third visit I enjoyed a warm ham and cheese baguette. The service was friendly and prompt and the food was simple but tasty. So what happened on the 2nd visit? We just stood in line and didn't move for almost ten minutes. They were processing many phone orders and couldn't keep up. We wanted something quick to eat before heading out and decided to come to this cafe.café. It has a nice rustic book decor and feeling. There was a line close to rhe door when we got there. We waited about 15 minutes but it was worth it. The service was great!! We ordered the lemon coconut frappe which was perfect blend and none of the flavors overshadowed the other. I stopped by the coffee shop because it was near the convention center in RI, and it opened at 6:30, which was good for me, since I drove from Boston in the early morning and needed a cup of coffee so much! They do source their milk and coffee thoughtfully, which is a plus, and there's a good variety of food options. Stopped in for some afternoon coffee and sweets. Not disappointed. We sampled tiramisu, cinnamon bun and chocolate cake. The tiramisu was one of the best Jess has had. Light and full of flavor. Cinnamon bun had awesome icing, but likely was better freshly baked. The cake was rich and chocolatey, but a bit dry. I had cold brew with cold foam and it was excellent. I came back to Caffè Nero for their Iced Strawberry and Vanilla Matcha. I really liked their matcha, but the strawberry preserves were a bit too sweet. Either way, it was a very refreshing drink. Came in from AZ for 4 days & stayed at the Omni Hotel so I decided to walk across the street to check this Café place out. The place was a clean & quaint place to meet up with friends & have a large selection of drinks & baked goodies to suit anyone. I ordered an Italian Ciabatta (which they heated & sent it to space), a Butter Crumb Cake & a fruit smoothie of sorts (Opted out of Energy & Protein) & all were very delicious. The gentleman with a beard that appeared to be training a new-hire lady, was very prompt in taking my order, came off as a professional in what he does but still remained kind & made me feel that my business was valued. Caffe Nero is a staple in the neighborhood! The drinks and snacks are very good! I don't personally like the chai latte here, and since that is my go-to drink at a coffee shop, I rated Nero a 4. I tried a new snack today, their raspberry croissant muffin, which was delicious! I like that the space is very large and has plenty of seating. There's a mix of small tables, large tables, high tops, and armchairs. I love the mix of seating that can serve a bunch of purposes! The staff are usually very friendly. However, it isn't always the quickest service. If the line is long, it sometimes takes a while for the staff to make drinks and heat up food to get through the line quickly. Stopped in while I was staying across the street in the Omni for a conference at the convention center. The decor is SO cute! There's a little library area with a fireplace, books, couches... and then the rest of the space is tables and chairs like a regular cafe. I had a black coffee which was really good, and my friend and I shared the vegetarian frittata, and a turkey/cheese/fig jam on a croissant. I loved both. I especially loved that the croissant had seeds for more flavor/texture. We downloaded the app so that we could receive a free pastry; she got banana bread and I got cranberry orange. They were both fantastic. The line was very long but I am attributing that to the conference and the fact that there were 1000s of people staying across the street. Tons of views of Providence from the numerous large since it's on the point/at the junction of three or four streets, and there is (seasonal?) outdoor seating on a good-sized patio slightly sheltered from the street. We came to check out the coffee and the vibe, and ended up spending about 3 1/2 hours here - getting pastry and iced drinks at first, then talking & scrolling on our phones a bit before rolling on to lunch and (perfect) hot coffees. There are several types of seating and well-separated seating areas (a sweet library nook with a fireplace, longer wooden tables, armchairs with smaller side tables, some four tops. Clearly, customer comfort is important! The coffee was excellent, with lots of choices for beverages and creamers. A few options for quick sweets (two types of Italian chocolates) are at the register to complement the choices of sweet or savory pastries, pre-made (to be heated or not?) sandwiches and individual-size frittatas (two varieties here). My only disappointment was that the frittata was microwaved in a cardboard-type container that bent from the heat so my food looked a bit... possibly dangerous. We easily found on-street parking but I'm confident that won't always be the case. It's worth driving around a bit, if I have to, on my next visits - which are sure to be frequent. read more

I also had this prosciutto sandwich at South Station (Boston) which was of same great quality but unfortunately had a not so great experience on Thayer Street location.
