This was my second visit to Seven Stars Bakery. I stopped in on a mission to find a round loaf of hard, crusty bread to serve with a steak dinner, and since I had just picked up a cake down the street, the location was super convenient. The snow made street parking a bit tricky, but thankfully there are a few parking spaces in the back of the building. Once inside, the bakery was lively and smelled absolutely delicious. There was a great selection of fresh artisan breads to choose from. I ended up with the durum loaf, which was perfect since I planned to make an olive oil dipping sauce. The bread was exactly what I hoped for crusty on the outside, soft on the inside, airy with a mix of large and small holes, and full of flavor. I also couldn't resist picking up two Valentine heart sugar cookies with jam because they were just too cute. The only minor downside was that the employee who helped me wasn't very smiley. Not rude at all, and my order was handled quickly, but it felt a bit different from the warm cafe vibe you might expect. I love a good bakery and will always stop at the popular ones in the various places I visit. We made a trek to this side of the neighborhood just to come get some of the supposed delicious pastries and it was absolutely worth it. Walking in, the cafe itself is nice and cozy but also large with plenty of seating. The place feels cozy, like the kind of place you want to have a warm coffee and a sweet treat. The outdoor seating is also really nice, and when we went almost all of the seats outside were taken. We went in the afternoon and thankfully there were a lot of good options to choose from, pastries wise. We purchased a cookie to share, a cinnamon bun and a pumpkin kouign amann. Each of those items was absolutely delicious and I am still thinking about that pumpkin queen. SO GOOD! The service was also really nice. We took a long time to decide and we never felt rushed or judged for not having an answer right away. When we finally did decide there was a lot of kindness and patience and I appreciated that. If we lived here, I'd show up here a few times a month to get some great pastries and what I'm guessing is great coffee. read more

I love Seven Stars, especially this location! The drinks and snacks are always delicious, and it's a great place to get some work done. On a Sunday afternoon, business was definitely flowing. However, it didn't get too loud or hectic, which I find can be a concern in many coffee shops/cafes. The staff were also welcoming and helpful. The biscotti was the star of the show on our visit. It definitely needs to be dunked in something to get the right texture (totally expected for a biscotti), but it was delicious! I also love that they have seasonal drinks and plenty of options for us non-coffee drinkers. Their loyalty program is also great! Awesome to get a free loaf for your birthday! read more

They have become mediocre. Everything I loved has been removed from the menu. Granola scones, haven's seen a morning glory muffin in a while, no more avocado, then I switched to walnut raisin bread. Gone. The breakfast sandwiches were interesting but became boring after a while. There's a certain ego to the owners that leads to being very micro and controlling. The coffee is great but even there, places have popped up that are more innovative with more interesting food. I loved this place and have been loyal, spending about $2000/year. But they expanded beyond their ability to innovate, and I sincerely think the top levels of the company prefers telling the customer what is best for them rather than listening. read more

Made two stops here in one day while visiting Providence a few weekends ago and we loved both the hot drinks and the baked goods. The pecan bun was my favorite, very satisfying, not cloyingly sweet, with a generous heap of pecans on top of a crisp-flakey pastry. The morning glory muffin was moist and studded with carrots, golden raisins, and nuts. The ginger scone was just slightly sweet with chunks of crystallized ginger. The molasses cookie had a slight chew and lots of raw sugar for crunch. I will definitely stop by next time I'm in the neighborhood. read more

It took me longer to walk to Seven Stars Bakery from my street parking spot than it did to get in & out of the shop with my order today. Pretty neat. I got an iced london fog with oat milk & honey, as well as 2 pastries made with almond flour. The kind barista made it clear that cross-contamination was a given, so they were not fully gluten-free. I appreciate the clarification. The two pastries were an almond cookie thing & a coconut ball thing. This was pre-caffeine so please pardon me for not remembering what they were. I do remember, however, that they were absolutely delicious. The last time I was at Seven Stars, which I think might've been *years* ago at this point, they had no wifi. That's part of the reason why I hadn't gone back, since I WFH. I know the whole wifi thing is strangely controversial. That being said, I always appreciate places that offers wifi for paying customers. That way I can clickety clack somewhere else other than my couch at home. I was jus walking by and was aggressively approached about signing a petition about their union. They're asking for $26 an hour plus tips and bread is already $12 a loaf. I really hope this doesn't effect my commutity, I'd like to be able to walk down the street and not get yelled at. Also if they get paid $26 what does that mean for the business? Love the ambiance here. I got the iced green tea which was tasty, and the avocado spread on sourdough which was excellent. Not sure why I saw at least a review or two didn't like the spread? It was awesome. My wife said the coffee was bitter, but I'm still giving this place 5 stars because of Luke's customer service, and the team's customer service, so. we're willing to give the coffee another shot because of that. This place can get a little busy, and my wife had a lot of questions, but Luke and team had a game plan - Luke patiently answered all of our questions and gave recommendations, while another member took the other people's orders behind us. Luke didn't rush us at all and made sure we got a great order. And it truly was. My wife loved her Durum toast with her fixings. read more

Great bread and pastries, but this place is more of a bakery than a coffee shop. Strawberry lemonade they sell during the summer is on point! They have good drinks from time to time. They can sometimes rush you here to order even when there isn't a line. Some employees are really nice, others not so much. Recommended spot to get work done! read more

Great little bakery in a quaint neighborhood! We came at 7am after a good ol red eye flight from LA. We were hungry and sleep reprieved and the egg sandwiches were great. The bread on the sandwich was flaky like a biscuit ... yet moist too. The pastries and coffee were delicious. They have a lovely array of seating both inside and out. When you go in every time, the cases are always filled with such a variety of items. It's hard to pick what you want however, there's always something to appeal to everyone. The place is clean never overly loud or noisy. Everyone's friendly explains what things you want when you go in there if they don't have something you're looking for they tell you that was in season or they don't make it anymore whatever but the super nice Way to get special hot chocolate for myself for my daughter because she likes her hot chocolate and the woman made it. They didn't have the coconut milk she look for she got regular milk instead and then a special danish was cranberry cheese so I got one of those my daughter and I got myself a fresh Mike croissant because I love them. They're really large and they're delicious. I also bought a coffee for police officer standing in line and then we're on my way as I have to go to my daughter at the Waterfire art center for art show she was having. We stopped into Seven Stars Bakery yesterday on our way home from a day trip to Providence. I have never been to Providence before so excuse what I'm about to say if it's complete bullshit but this bakery seems to really embody the "hipness" and eccentricity of the city. As soon as we walked in, I was greeted by a welcoming and warm feeling. I've had some bad customer service in my days and this place was not serving any of that. Our probably annoying indecisiveness was met with understanding. At around 4pm the pastry section was more consistent with a cafe that serves pastries instead of an actual bakery. There was, however, a very handsome collection of actual breads available including an "olive stick". I don't know what that is, but I'm interested. Once we finally made some decision, we joined the end of the queue that had developed during our deliberation. We snagged the last chocolate croissant, a cheese twist, I ordered medium matcha latte with oat milk (regular diary milk, almond, and soy are also options), and Tina couldn't resist snagging one of their onion focaccia slices which is literally focaccia covered in a bed of sauteed onions. The employee serving us was kind enough to put these things in different bags (thank you jesus). The matcha latte was handed to me had a little heart design, awwww. I will take that personally, thank you very much. The oat milk likely contributed significantly but this was creamy and decadent. Just ONE packet of stevia in the raw was enough for me to enjoy it tremendously. A medium set me back $5. We didn't rip into the pastries until we got home later that evening. The cheese twist was croissant-style with delicate, flaky layers and just a hint of cheese flavor. The chocolate croissant, much to my surprise, was actually not stuffed with nutella but instead two sticks of actual chocolate. This was incredible. I cannot provide my first-hand experience for the onion focaccia but Tina describes it as "soft, tangy, and savory". Her intention, after helping me devour the other two purchases, was just to taste it but she ended up eating about 98% of it. She left one little corner to make herself feel better. We've all done it. This is an excellent place to grab some coffee, a hot (or cold) beverage, and a pastry (or two, or three in our case) and either bounce or chill. If I lived in the neighborhood, this would be a dangerous spot. read more

Walked here from our Airbnb for a quick breakfast before heading out. This place is definitely a favorite local spot from the continuous flow of people coming in and staying for coffee and pastries. I ordered a chai latte with oat milk, the avocado toast, and the Kouign Amann. The chai and Kouign Amann were awesome, but the avocado toast was just okay. The toast part was awesome, but the avocado spread was not my favorite. Then again, I'm a spoiled Californian (the land of avocado toast) who gets awesome avocados all year round. This neighborhood bakery on the West side is a gem. The service is always top notch, the food and the options are excellent. We got the ham and cheese quiche and it was delicious. Flaky, warm and very buttery. You can seat inside or outside depending on the weather. The chairs outside remind you of the ones you would find at French cafes in Paris. The reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is because of no WiFi for customers. I know that would encourage people to stay around longer, but it could be limited to a certain amount of time, if needed. read more
