Had I known I was going to drop $40.00 dollars on 2 slices of pizza and soda for lunch I would have ordered wine. Also, for dried pasta out of a box they have allot of nerve charging what they do. I typically meet friends here a few times a year. The positives are the delicious wedding soup, house salad, and large portions. I do not care for their red sauce, so I typically order dishes that do not require it. This time I had the Chicken Capriciosa. It was a huge portion, enough for leftovers and then some. Unfortunately the chicken was hard. Perhaps the cutlets were sitting around under the heat lamp until needed for the dish. I tried eating the leftovers two days later, thinking the dressing from the dish would soften the chicken....no such luck. But... my dog enjoyed her meal since I was disappointed and ready to toss it into the trash. She probably thought it was chicken jerky. The only reason why I keep coming back is because my friend needs GF items and this restaurant accommodates her needs. Lastly, when asked what type of sauce I wanted for my pasta, I chose Alfredo since the red is terrible. The waitress never told me there was a $5 up charge. Missed the take out pizza/ dessert counter when I entered; good number of customers in our way out. Food was good: garlic knots smothered in oil, different than the typical way. Got the balsamic chicken pizza which was made with a delicious balsamic vinegar, fresh mushrooms and red peppers, and big pieces of grilled chicken. We came here on a Thursday night. It was PACKED! It turns out they were doing a fundraiser 20% of bills going to a local kid Bella, fighting brain cancer. Wow, what a turn out they had and what a cause to support. Even with the chaos (meaning the number of people), the staff held it down. We had a 15 minute wait to be seated, nothing in the grand scheme of things. Something to note: I did call on the way there to see if we could get on waitlist. The hostess stated they do not do that. Our food was delicious, there was an extended wait time for that which the waiter apologized for. In the meantime we enjoyed spicy honey peach margaritas (included in pictures). A+... 2 and tipsy. Their garlic knots served instead of typical bread were extremely oily, and served with a side of Parmesan cheese. I don't blame the restaurant entirely...Both pies arrived like this and didn't receive my son's calzone - after 4pm delivery is through Grub Hub, Uber Eats and Door Dash - all three services are awful. A good option for standard Long Island Italian staples, and ideal for big groups. I came here with a 20 person group for a lunch that had several courses-- which gave a pretty good general overview of what Caffe Amici had to offer. First, we got several plates of garlic knots- that were DRENCHED in butter... so much butter that it pooled in a puddle at the bottom of the bowl. I've never seen a garlic knot that greasy anywhere else before so was kind of put off by these. However, things got a lot better after we were given 3 mixed plates of fried calamari, mozzarella sticks, and baked clams, each with delicious red sauce to dip. Everything in this course was very good and piping hot, with plenty of lemon wedges to drizzle over it all! Everyone's salads were very fresh, with a tangy yet creamy balsamic dressing that I would love to have again. We also appreciated that there were no giant onion pieces in it, just crisp lettuce and veggies. The small penne pasta course was also delicious! It looked deceptively simple, but every element was perfectly done. The red sauce was slightly sweet and garlicky, the penne cooked to al dente, and the shaved Parmesan on top was very nice. They gave everyone a choice between shrimp scampi, veal Marsala, or eggplant rollatini. All were delicious, a little on the heavier side with massive portions, but isn't that why you come to a place like this?! Then as if that wasn't enough food... they hit us with a dessert assortment of cookies, which had the best mini cannoli I've had on Long Island in a WHILE. They were clearly freshly made- with shells as crisp as anything, filled all the way with delicious ricotta cream and dusted with powdered sugar. Tonight our family went to pasta night. My husband being gluten free celiac disease ordered gluten free pasta with a piece of grill chicken diced in the pasta. The charge for a bowl of pasta was $37.50 When I asked our waitress she told me that was the gluten free pasta up charge. Pasta special includes salad or soup and dessert for $23.00. café amici is a staple. i love their monday and tuesday pasta deal which includes an appetizer, a drink, a pasta, and a dessert for $23. this deal is truly exceptional. i got the pasta purses which comes with a red pepper sauce that is absolutely creamy, flavorful, literally delicious. their chocolate cake is also exceptional. it's very moist but not too heavy. service is great and the restaurant does get very busy, so i anticipated waiting a bit for my pasta, but truly a great deal and a great dinner. i would definitely recommend checking out café amici. read more

Recently I ordered four slices of Grandma's Pizza and for garlic rolls. The pizza crust was hard and the cheese was awful and it wasn't a Grandma's slice. The garlic rolls were rubbery and not garlic. This isn't the first time I've had an issue so I figured I would send a review and see if the owner reads this and makes changes on his pizza and his cheese and his garlic rolls. I have tasted other grandma's pizzas from other pizza restaurants and they were made very differently and the cheese and the sauce was delicious. Big disappointment. read more

I didn't like this place very much, the Caesar Salad was very basic, like the kind you'd get at a deli. My main course was a veal dish that wasn't prepared like it was described. Reminded me of a balsamic Mediterranean salad placed on top of a veal chop. It was drenched in balsamic dressing which the server didn't warn me about. The ambiance is that of a pizzeria with a restaurant in the back. I well say in the mid section of the restaurant they added a nice looking bar. Went for Restaurant Week and it was overall a great meal and great experience. Service was fair. The place was packed yet the staff was attentive. For app we had capellini cakes and crostini di rabe. Both were phenomenal. Crostini di rabe needs to be added to the regular menu if it is not already! First entree was Farfalle Rustica which was good and the chicken was great. Second one was Pollo Fresca which I would order for myself next time, the pesto was a perfect addition. Dessert we had a cannoli, chocolate Peanutbutter cake and a cappuccino . Hard to understand why they have a 3.5 star review. This place is spot on. Service is amazing, the server and his help were on top of our table every few minutes. Water was never empty and drinks were always full. We've been coming here since it opened and it's always been amazing food. The creativity is above all amazing. Ok, so maybe a Mac and cheese pizza slice is not Italian, but its to die for. The bread is excellent, the pizza was perfect, the gunocci was amazingly flavorful. Inside is clean and inviting, with the aroma of real Italian cooking. We no longer live in the area but make our way here to have some good Italian cooking and godd Italian hospitality. read more

My veal Milanese was excellent BUT it got destroyed by the over moist bruschetta which was put on top of it, my mistake I should have said on the side in a separate dish. I experienced one of the worst experiences while dining at caffe amici this evening ,although the food itself was very good,the service was the worst by far. My daughter and wife recieved there salad and weren't even 1/2 way done before there meals came and there salads were taken away .We were being rushed so much my food was being taken away before i could finish ,I had to keep saying i wasn't finished yet. I had to ask for a drink refill after slurping my straw and my server was standing 6' from me . Full meal from sit down to bill paid was less the 45 min. Upon arriving our party of four was seated at a large booth. The restaurant is big, with several tables surrounded by booths and a bar nestled on the far right side of the eating area. Our waiter, Anthony, was awesome. He was very knowledgeable and very helpful with making substitutions. Tuesday is pasta night so I ordered the cavatelli in a marinara sauce. The dinner came with a choice of soup or salad, a desert, and beverage. I ordered a Caesar salad to start. The salad was fresh, it contained plenty of cheese, and the dressing was very good. The sauce was fresh and flavorful, the cavatelli were excellent, the pasta was cooked al dente and it arrived hot. The only flaw, in this delicious meal was the desert. Instead of following our waiter's recommendation to order the house prepared Italian cheese cake, I went with the chocolate cake. Husband and I went here for dinner after a long discussion on how I didn't wanna go. He said let's give it a try once again we used to go to Amici's years ago when Sally used it own it.. let's stop by saying we had the shrimp. It sucked, fake shrimp, frozen, and just cooked and served on the specials that night were rice balls they sucked. They were the size of marbles. They should be embarrassed to even serve this for $18 we had the muscles they were good. The bf and I were fortunate enough to dine here on Saturday 7/29/2023. He raved about the place and was eager to get my thoughts on the venue. We were seated immediately upon walking in. We made 6:15pm reservations..just in case. The place was full but, not overly crowded. We were greeted right away by our server, Lydia. She was friendly and pleasant. Since it was my first time here, I asked her what were her favorites on the menu? She shared that she was partial to the veal Marsala dish with pasta. Lydia has a welcoming spirit, I instantly felt at home. I decided to go with one of the combo dishes made up of veal cutlet, chicken cutlet, fried shrimp and eggplant Rollatine. The bf was disappointed that they no longer served the scungilli dish he had been craving. Apparently, there was not a very high demand for it from the general public. He opted for the veal parmigiana entree. Both our dishes came with sides. Broccoli for me, rigatoni for him. Our dishes were plentiful in size, fresh and delicious! We shared a decadent dessert...a croissant stuffed with cannoli filling! I'm not sure who made up that combination but, my sugar rush lasted late into the evening!! All in all our experience was fantastic! I made sure I told Rueben the manager, how our delicious meal was made even better by Lydia's first class service and attentiveness. This is a nice local spot we enjoy and they have a wonderful deal for pasta tonight. We went last week, although I always love the gnocchi Bolognese I didn't feel like complaining, but they absolutely overcooked the gnocchi to the point where it was just squishy and all squished together, so it was a little unfortunate, but our waitress was really great and I enjoyed our date night. I've never really had that issue when I order the gnocchi so I feel like this was just a one time thing.
