Grub Hub delivery...all these app delivery drivers are awful!
    Cynthia J.

If you cannot pick up your order yourself after 4pm, don't order. I don't blame the restaurant entirely...Both pies arrived like this and didn't receive my son's calzone - after 4pm delivery is through Grub Hub, Uber Eats and Door Dash - all three services are awful. Second time this happened. I wish Caffe Amici would do away with these services, when I used to get delivery directly from their employees every thing always arrived perfect.

Some restaurants quietly weave themselves into the fabric of our lives. Others become landmarks of memory. Caffè Amici in Selden falls somewhere in between. Serving Italian classics since 1992, this neighborhood staple has clearly grown with the community around it. I first remember stopping here as a high school student, ducking in with friends for a quick slice and a soda after school or before rehearsals for the latest musical or play. Back then it was the kind of pizzeria where the counter buzzed and the ovens never seemed to rest. Twenty-four years later, I returned for my father's birthday lunch and found that the place had undergone something of a glow-up. What was once a straightforward pizzeria has evolved into a full restaurant experience, complete with white linens, warm lighting, and painted murals that give the room a distinctly Italian-American charm. It feels like the kind of place where someone might lean back in their chair, sip an espresso, and say piano piano, life is good. Lunch here begins generously. Each entrée arrives with a choice of soup or salad and a side, a detail that feels refreshingly old school. I ordered the Pollo Francese, a dish that has long been a favorite in Italian-American kitchens. The lightly egg-battered chicken was sautéed in a lemon, butter, and white wine sauce that tasted bright and comforting at the same time. My side of angel hair pasta absorbed the sauce beautifully, turning each bite into something quietly satisfying. Alongside it came a bowl of Stracciatella, a delicate spinach and egg drop consommé with meatballs that felt like something straight from la cucina della nonna. Around the table, the dishes told their own stories. A Tilapia Oreganata, crusted with toasted breadcrumbs and finished with lemon and white wine, arrived with pasta and a hearty bowl of minestrone. The Shrimp Marinara, paired with clams in a plum tomato sauce over pasta, was served with Tortellini in Brodo, the kind of soup that warms you from the inside out. A beautifully prepared seabass, resting on escarole and white beans in a delicate white wine sauce, was accompanied by a comforting bowl of Pasta Fagioli. Before all of that, though, there were the garlic knots. Buttery, fragrant, and unapologetically loaded with garlic, they set the tone for the meal. As in many Italian households, our table quickly adopted the unspoken rule that everyone gets a taste of everyone else's dish. After all, sharing food is half the experience. Mangia, mangia. The service throughout was warm, attentive, and easygoing, the kind that makes a family lunch feel relaxed rather than rushed. Portions were generous enough that we all left with leftovers, which in Italian-American dining is often the quiet mark of a successful meal. And while the dining room now carries the polish of a full restaurant, the spirit of the original pizzeria remains. The counter still offers a tempting lineup of pizzas, calzones, strombolis, and sandwiches for anyone looking for a quick bite. Some places change over time. Others simply grow into themselves. At Caffè Amici, it feels like both. Caffè Amici353 Independence PlazaSelden, NY 11784(631) 698-0818info@caffeamiciselden.com

Met a family member here on their recommendation. Decorated for Christmas with an overall warm appearance. Missed the take out pizza/ dessert counter when I entered; good number of customers in our way out. Food was good: garlic knots smothered in oil, different than the typical way. Got the balsamic chicken pizza which was made with a delicious balsamic vinegar, fresh mushrooms and red peppers, and big pieces of grilled chicken. Service was okay: lots of ancillary staff assisting, not consistently our server whose name was not disclosed. Nice bathrooms. Clean overall. Ample parking; located in strip mall with Home Depot.

We came here on a Thursday night. It was PACKED! It turns out they were doing a fundraiser 20% of bills going to a local kid Bella, fighting brain cancer. Wow, what a turn out they had and what a cause to support. Even with the chaos (meaning the number of people), the staff held it down. We had a 15 minute wait to be seated, nothing in the grand scheme of things. Something to note: I did call on the way there to see if we could get on waitlist. The hostess stated they do not do that. Our food was delicious, there was an extended wait time for that which the waiter apologized for. In the meantime we enjoyed spicy honey peach margaritas (included in pictures). A+... 2 and tipsy. Their garlic knots served instead of typical bread were extremely oily, and served with a side of Parmesan cheese. The place was already decorated for the holidays, everyone was in a good mood and delighted to be there for the cause.

Came here for dinner on a monday night. The place was packed. Staff was very friendly and didnt make us wait long. The kids all got a Sicilian pizza and loved it. They also shared a rigatoni ala vodka. Love the generous portion sizes. We have been coming to this restaurant or ordering takeout from them for the last 10 years and they never disappoint. I also like the italian wedding soup as well. The supersize garlic knots are good too!

café amici is a staple. i love their monday and tuesday pasta deal which includes an appetizer, a drink, a pasta, and a dessert for $23. this deal is truly exceptional. i got the pasta purses which comes with a red pepper sauce that is absolutely creamy, flavorful, literally delicious. their chocolate cake is also exceptional. it's very moist but not too heavy. service is great and the restaurant does get very busy, so i anticipated waiting a bit for my pasta, but truly a great deal and a great dinner. i would definitely recommend checking out café amici.

I didn't like this place very much, the Caesar Salad was very basic, like the kind you'd get at a deli. My main course was a veal dish that wasn't prepared like it was described. Reminded me of a balsamic Mediterranean salad placed on top of a veal chop. It was drenched in balsamic dressing which the server didn't warn me about. The ambiance is that of a pizzeria with a restaurant in the back. I well say in the mid section of the restaurant they added a nice looking bar. It's not bad as a pizzeria but I wouldn't go for a nice Italian dinner.

Went for Restaurant Week and it was overall a great meal and great experience. Service was fair. The place was packed yet the staff was attentive. For app we had capellini cakes and crostini di rabe. Both were phenomenal. Crostini di rabe needs to be added to the regular menu if it is not already! First entree was Farfalle Rustica which was good and the chicken was great. Second one was Pollo Fresca which I would order for myself next time, the pesto was a perfect addition. Dessert we had a cannoli, chocolate Peanutbutter cake and a cappuccino . All delicious again. 9.7/10 meal. Would also like to shoutout to the manager possibly owner walking around. Great guy.

The bf and I were fortunate enough to dine here on Saturday 7/29/2023. He raved about the place and was eager to get my thoughts on the venue. We were seated immediately upon walking in. We made 6:15pm reservations..just in case. The place was full but, not overly crowded. We were greeted right away by our server, Lydia. She was friendly and pleasant. Since it was my first time here, I asked her what were her favorites on the menu? She shared that she was partial to the veal Marsala dish with pasta. Lydia has a welcoming spirit, I instantly felt at home. I decided to go with one of the combo dishes made up of veal cutlet, chicken cutlet, fried shrimp and eggplant Rollatine. The bf was disappointed that they no longer served the scungilli dish he had been craving. Apparently, there was not a very high demand for it from the general public. He opted for the veal parmigiana entree. Both our dishes came with sides. Broccoli for me, rigatoni for him. Our dishes were plentiful in size, fresh and delicious! We shared a decadent dessert...a croissant stuffed with cannoli filling! I'm not sure who made up that combination but, my sugar rush lasted late into the evening!! All in all our experience was fantastic! I made sure I told Rueben the manager, how our delicious meal was made even better by Lydia's first class service and attentiveness. As we left with our doggie bags, I made a vow to visit again soon.

This is a nice local spot we enjoy and they have a wonderful deal for pasta tonight. We went last week, although I always love the gnocchi Bolognese I didn't feel like complaining, but they absolutely overcooked the gnocchi to the point where it was just squishy and all squished together, so it was a little unfortunate, but our waitress was really great and I enjoyed our date night. I've never really had that issue when I order the gnocchi so I feel like this was just a one time thing. They're usually super crowded on Monday, Tuesday for obvious reasons, but will definitely return and love their garlic knots.

A very bog standard bar crust, and what I can only assume was an amatuer in the kitchen. I wish I could take my tip back. This pizza was very dissapointing and very dry. By far and away the worst I've experienced. I took away a star for this reason. The new spot aesthetically is just okay. We ordered fried calamari as appetizers and a zuppa di pesce - while zuppa is translated as soup in English, the dish is closer to what may be considered a fish stew. In addition to the fried calamari we also ordered a large salad that we split. Cova is a unique restaurant that serves dinner in a family-style format. This means that the entrees are designed to be shared between two or four people. While the food is excellent, for a hungry person, the amount per serving is not worth the price. Unfortunately, the cappuccino maker was not in service, so I ordered a regular cup of decaffeinated coffee. Regrettably, the coffee was not to my liking. The Takeaways: 1. The food is very tasty. 2. The coffee is not good. 3. The price to portion ration is poor. 4. Parking is ample. 5. Make reservations.

Such warm, crusty, garlicky goodness, they were gone in 60 seconds and we had to order more. - Caprese salad had perfectly ripe yellow and red tomato with a seriously gigantic ball of buffalo mozz - Caesar salad was a little too heavy on the dressing - fresh pasta so good! Papparadella with pesto and fresh mozz & rigatoni bolognese. Flavorful sauces! - Forresta pizza crust was so perfectly thin & crispy and the prosciutto was shaved thin and cooked crispy. Great combo with the arugula - sadly they were out of the tiramasu and sorbet so we tried a cannoli and it was very large filled with rich creamy ricotta and chocolate chips - thanks to a fellow yelper find...they have Mexican Coke!
