We visited on a jam-packed night in downtown Opelika. A charming young lady greeted us at the front and seated us in the back. Cafe 1 2 3 is dark, and I had difficulty reading the minimal menu. I was not sure how to order. Irish our waitress was cheerful, helped us, and made it easier to understand. We placed our order, and Irish went away. My wife and I enjoyed chatting, sipping our drinks, and waiting. After a long wait, the waitress came back and apologized politely, saying a large party had backed up the kitchen. A few minutes later, Irish reappeared, once again apologized, but said our meals were being plated. A few minutes later, our plates were placed in front of us again, with an apology. Next, I bit into the dish, stunned by the marvelous filet, creamy potatoes, roasted asparagus smothered with blue crab, shrimp, and scallops smothered in a light sauce. High praise for this jewel in Opelika, Alabama, the wait staff, owners, and especially the chef! Bravo read more

Let me start with saying that you need to call to make reservations; however, this is done so you can have a pleasant time without being rushed. The ambience was very good and staff were very attentive. Food was also very good. Will come back again. read more

Stopped in for Sunday brunch, after having tried this restaurant for dinner just the Friday before. There are no bad choices on any of their menus - I would try everything if I could! The staff were all fantastic and the service was well above average. Loved the ambiance of a repurposed pharmacy into a fine dining experience. Will definitely visit again! read more

We had the brunch this morning after worshiping at the church of Christ on 10th St. wife had the southern breakfast (she couldn't finish it all), I had the southern omelet. Both were very good. The servers were very busy with so many people in town this weekend, I only got one coffee with no refills. I still tipped 20% because that was minor. We'll go again next time we're in town. read more

Amazing Sunday brunch. I had the shrimp and grits, my wife had the tiramisu waffles, and we split an avocado stuffed with crab appetizer. Food was delicious. Service was a bit slow, but attentive and responsive. Sunday brunch is from 11-2. No reservations for brunch, and a queue forms in advance of opening. On street parking competes with the Baptist church down the street. Highly recommended - will dine there again. read more

I would say that this is the best food in the area. We usually frequent The Depot and have had great meals there. 123 might not be as well known but you cannot do wrong by enjoying. a great meal with a wonderful atmosphere and expert waitstaff.. The redfish is usually on the the menu and is first rate...as are the steak offerings. And the drinks are a plus. Our outstanding server Hannah took our orders, brought our food, made our drinks and bussed tables. She was very attentive and on point! We love coming here!! The downtown location is great and in walking distance to other bars and restaurants. The food is always so delicious, as are the drinks. The fried chicken skins are a must try if you like pork rinds. I also love their bread pudding for dessert! Good wine list and a more upscale vibe than some restaurants close by. This place is quite the hidden gem. I went with a board I serve on for an introduction dinner. The menu was given to us with several selections from which to choose. The place is very quaint and cozy with a big room in the back for my group. Our server was Hobson. Oh, my word. He is a quintessential southern gentleman. Accommodating, knowledgeable, awesome. We had fried chicken kinds for appetizers. Soooooo delicious. Also a board with various treats such as yummy pimento cheese. My salad was healthy that and delicious no choose the salmon and grits. I asked for the slinach to be substituted and they gave me asparagus. There were a lot of d grits. A lot. The salmon was ok. Not r the best I've ever had. A bit over cooked. The break pudding for dessert was a huge home run. My favorites were appetizers and dessert. Signature cocktails were great! read more

food was excellent. Pork chop entree and house salad with blackened salmon entree. The salad was HUGE pieces of romaine. The chef should take the time to cut the romaine so the customer doesn't have to. Dessert was the chocolate mousse. It was wonderful! It is served in a tall skinny glass which makes it difficult to share. The dish should be a different shape. Even if not shared that glass is better for an ice cream sundae than a delicious mousse. Our server was wonderful. He was the sole bartender and a waiter for several busy tables. He was working so hard to make us all happy. He was very professional and friendly especially considering how stretched he was to serve us all. They seem short staffed, but the staff there were great . The air conditioning was Freezing. Looking around everyone had their sweaters and jackets on. I think this was dueto the fact that the staff were working so hard that they probably were hot. However, the AC vents point straight down on the tables. Sweet restaurant in need of a few tweaks and more wonderful staff. read more

For dinner, we had several dishes....each were equally delicious...the chicken, steak and snapper. For dessert, we had bread pudding and chocolate mousse. Very nicely small atmosphere! five booths against the wall and five tables down the middle. Very clean and cozy. When we arrived they said our table was not ready. No big deal to us! We thought we could have a drink at the very nice bar. There were three booths open at the time. I ask if we could sit at a booth, which we prefer. They said that could cause an "overlap". We then saw them pressure a table to pay and leave. This turned out to be our assigned table. When we asked again if we could have a booth they said they had to talk to the manager. We begrudgingly accepted the table assigned. It was obvious at this point all parties involved were irritated. The waitress went over the specials and returned with drinks. I asked her to repeat the,"catch of the day". Her response was very sarcastic. The food was good. The area has many nice restaurants within walking distance read more

Since moving to Opelika, Cafe 123 has been our "go to" for our Anniversary. We were there last week for our 58th and as usual we were not disappointed. The ribeye steak was delicious! The grit cake is outstanding as is the bread pudding. Our waitress took excellent care of us read more

Café 123 is my favorite restaurant in the Auburn/Opelika area. I love the food and atmosphere. The staff are all amazing and are what makes this restaurant so wonderful. Everyone needs to try "The Napoleon". Café 123's beer and wine dinners are always incredible events. read more

My rating still stands. This time, the parents and the boyfriend came along. Brown Sugar Rubbed Rib Eye - Asked for it medium, and came out more medium rare. Nonetheless, it was still juicy. Although the price tag reads $26, you're getting a slab of meat that's as big as your brain. Totally worth it. Barbeque Bourbon Salmon - My favorite dish. The salmon was not as soft as other salmon I have had but the grits added wonderful flavor to mix in with the fish. The sauteed spinach is slightly more salty, which is what I prefer. Cafe Pasta Alfredo with Sauteed Gulf White Shrimp - The shrimp was large and succulent. Just like the last time, the amount of alfredo sauce was just right. Enough for flavor and it didn't create a pool at the bottom of the bowl. This was plenty for 4 people. It was a splurge that we definitely enjoyed for our last night in Auburn. read more
