I believe technology is just ruining customer service. I came in, ordered on the iPads kiosk. The description didn't say if one had caffeine or not. While others did. The young ladies working there, did not even try to approach the counter to check in on a customer. I was doing laundry at the laundromat next-door when my daughter started showing signs of possible caffeine in her drink. She is only 3 1/2 so she cannot consume caffeine. Her stomach was upset and she looked extremely uncomfortable. To be safe, I called over no one answered the phone. So I decided to walk over there with my daughter, and the young ladies were not busy. Just having a conversation. I approach the counter, and they looked the bothered that I would approach the counter. I didn't even finish my question before I was cut off, and just pretty much brushed away as the employee was walking back behind the glass. I still don't feel confident that there was no caffeine in the drink, and if she begins to show other possible symptoms. I will have to take her to the hospital. Children who accidentally consume, alcohol can end up having seizures, so I would've really appreciated some positive confirmation instead of being brushed off. The Straw & Spoon on Artesia is a great spot to meet up with friends for boba or açaí in Redondo Beach. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, with two swing chairs inside and Edison bulb string lights & blue sails over the tables outside. It was very clean, and the staff were super friendly. You can either order from a screen or directly with the cashier, which I recommend if it's your first time or if you have questions. They have a restroom for customers, and there is also free parking in the connected lot, and I appreciate that convenience. I asked if they have any drinks without syrups/sugar, and they recommended their iced tea. I went with the Four Season Iced Green Tea with no sugar & regular ice, and since it is a boba spot I added the Lychee Coconut Jellies. The jellies went perfectly with the iced green tea, and it was a balanced and refreshing beverage, with hints of rose and a delightful lychee flavor and even a similar lychee texture. I also enjoyed the quality of their plastic cups and selection of large colorful straws - you get to select your favorite color. They let us eat our sushi from Yanagi Kitchen in the plaza along with our boba drinks, and it was a perfect combo. I will definitely be back! read more

I am a little embarrassed with how long it took us to come in and try this place. My Daughter and I finally dropped in and ordering and making substitutions was super easy on the screen when you walk in. There are lots of places to sit inside. It is wide open and everything is clean. They are quick and everything tastes good. Like one reason I don't get boba more often is I feel like they are usually too sweet for me but I really liked the levels with my Thai Iced tea drink! My daughter's mango drink was good and had chunks of fruit floating in it. Hers didn't get as much boba as we would have thought. But still tasty. We'll be back to try other things! read more

The place was very clean and they had some fun swings in front of the register. Children really enjoyed the atmosphere with their parents but I would not recommend this place for a date as it is more family friendly. The drinks are spectacular, strong, unique and very expensive. If you have $10 to spend on a small hot tea, then go for it. I will have to stick with more budget friendly splurges. I took one star off for the price and one star off because I didn't know how expensive my drink was until I paid for it. This is definitely one of my favorite places for boba in the South Bay! I like the taste of their teas and concoctions. I've always been happy with my choices here. We've tried a bunch of others and the teas and bobas/jellies here just seem to taste really good in comparison. Service is quick. There are a few places to sit and enjoy a convo in the space. It seems clean but maybe a bit aged. They could maybe freshen it up a bit, but I tend to take by boba to go anyway, so I'm not bothered by the decor in the least. read more

The ambiance within is always nice and cleanly, with lots of seating, including two indoor round hammock chairs which are very nice and comfortable. To order, it is very efficient with their two available tablets to use, simply choose what you want and it gives options on how to order and customize. Very easy to pay with Apple Pay or cash if you speak to the cashier at the front. My downsides were the service and the drink itself. For my drink, I had ordered the brown sugar milk tea with boba. It was relatively not expensive which was a bonus, but the drink was nothing special. It tasted average, if not below average, and lacked flavor and taste. It was very diluted with milk too much and had no flavor because of this. It was fine. The service was OK as well. Nobody was in the store and it took a while for them to prepare my groups 3 drinks, the only thing in the order. The workers weren't really that friendly either, but they weren't mean. I used to come here a lot last summer and recently started coming back and I changed their ingredients in the açaí bowls like before the mangos where chopped chunks they switched to like pre chopped mangos that sit in liquid so it's just mush the açaí it's self just taste like off and just not quality any more and for the $10 price tag just not worth it. Straw & Spoon is a boba and acai bar. It is a fairly new spot located on Artesia Blvd in Redondo Beach. It is a spacious restaurant with plenty of seating both indoor and outdoor. The ambiance is super cute with plenty of areas for a great photo. I do think the flooring doesn't match the cuteness of the space. Ordering is done on a pad and is quick and painless. The menu offers slushies, smoothies, fruit teas, milk teas, iced coffee, hot snacks, and of course acai. I went with a brown sugar milk tea with boba. I really like the shape of the cup and it fits perfectly in my car cup holder. The drink itself was ok, it was missing something that I couldn't put my finger on. It's convenient and I wish them well in their success, as I remember the former tenants of this address (Slider Stop) as well as historically (has been a coffee shop) hasn't had much luck, but then again, Redondo Beach is tough for restaurant and food services to garner success due to the lack of local support and high rent / overhead. We come here once in a while to support our local merchants, because if you don't support them and one day you crave a Boba or sweet dessert drink, and you find out they "didn't make it" and had to close, it's because you/we didn't support them when they needed us so now they're gone when we need them. So, while the prices, value and quality isn't anything to complain about, nor is it something so unique it's considered "destination dining" it's still "A OKAY" with an OK review rating, which in my book is a recommendation and compliment that I endorse it as a spot I'd come back to. My friend and I were in the area and found this tea shop to try out. We liked that there was a large selection of drinks and other items to try, such as acai bowls. We ordered drinks and got the Strawberry Green Tea with Heart Jelly and Strawberry Horchata. I ordered the SGT and it was nicely balanced with the sweetness and fruit flavor. The heart shaped jelly was a little hard to get with the big straw, but it tasted good! I wish there was a bit more tea flavor to my drink, but not a big deal. Store was spacious and there was only one other customer inside. As soon as you enter, there's a kiosk for you to order at. They also have a counter at the back of the store for your to place your order with an employee but it says that it's only for cash-customers. Stopped into Straw & Spoon for an afternoon pick-me-up tea. It's a boba and açaí bar that opened a few months ago. Parking is pretty easy with a private lot. There's also an adjacent patio if you want to enjoy your drink outside. The inside is a cute setup, very clean and bright, splattered with soft pink, white, and baby blue everywhere. You place your order on one of the two touch pads, so browsing through the menu and selecting your options is pretty efficient. The service is fast, I got my drink within a couple minutes of placing my order. I ordered the dirty matcha latte which I thought was a well-crafted drink. I'd give 0 stars if I could. They are not ADA compliant when it comes to service dogs. My family and I wanted to try the new boba spot. When we went in, I was told I needed to wait outside with my dog. She was not wearing her service vest at the time and they told me she needed to if she was going to be in the store. Once we got our drinks, I tried to politely inform them that ADA stated they cannot ask about my disability, my dog does not need a vest or any sort of ID. They can only ask what service she provides. They then KICKED US OUT because I had tried to politely inform them about ADA policies with service dogs. I will say, when were inside, she barked twice. This was an ALERT for ME for a MEDICAL EPISODE. I had not listened to her signal and she was trying to get me to. She's a cardiac alert dog. If I don't listen, she needs to get my attention so that I literally don't collapse. I also again had tried to be really polite, informed them they should look up service dog laws by the ADA, that she does not need to wear anything that says service dog, and that they can only ask me what her tasks are. I do not recommend this place. I will be posting this review everywhere I can. My service dog is an actual service dog. She is highly trained both by K9 Connection in Northern California, has passed the canine good citizen test, and is extremely well behaved. She barked because I did not pay attention to her first signals. I have reported them to the ADA for discrimination based on disability. Edit: Workers from the store are now harassing me. Located off Artesia Bl in Redondo Beach. Parking shared with the other businesses in this little plaza. The place just recently opened so it's nice and clean. If you pay by cash or gift card you go to the counter otherwise you place your order through the kiosk available there were two. The have teas, coffee, açaí bowls smoothies and some little hot snacks. The girl was friendly and answered my questions while I was placing my order on the kiosk. I got the strawberry mango real fruit tea. It was good not too sweet or bland. I will have to come back to try the acai bowl. Overall a great spot for drinks and small eats. read more
