I'm really disappointed with my visit. I'm not hard to please, and I really felt like none of the staff cared. I had a movie at Fat Cats at 1:30, and I came in just after 11:30. I had never been to First Watch before, but I expected a wait. I checked in and was quoted 25 minutes for a party of four. After 30 minutes, I checked in again and was told I was second in line. A few more minutes went by, so I asked again, and now I was fifth in line. I was confused, and they explained that people checking in online could jump ahead of me. They also said they were unable to accurately quote a wait time, and that it could end up being much longer. I know many other places use a hybrid check-in system, and I've never experienced an issue like this. I understand when things simply take longer than expected, but tables were being turned over and people were being seated. I must have just been incredibly unlucky with the timing of people checking in online. After finally being seated about 45 minutes later, we put our order in right away since we were now going to be cutting it close. I'm used to breakfast places being pretty quick, but it took another 45 minutes for our food to arrive. We ended up being 15 minutes late to the movie. I expected the opening credits to still be rolling, so I wasn't too stressed, but we definitely missed the first five minutes or so of the movie. The food was pretty good, but my eggs were over hard when I had ordered them over medium. What disappointed me the most was that nobody seemed to care that the quoted wait time was so far off. There was no apology or acknowledgment. Our waitress was okay, but she avoided our table like the plague while we were waiting for our food, probably because she knew it was taking so long. We have been to several First Watch locations and it's always the same idea--good service, meh food. We started with the seasonal blueberry lemon cornbread, which was surprisingly amazing. We were hopeful. When it came time to order our entrees, my mom asked about the spice level on the BEC Sandwich if peppers are removed and she was told that it wasn't spicy at all. Her experience was quite the opposite, to the point that she couldn't finish the sandwich because it was so spicy. I went with the Bacado omelette and par for the course, it was just okay. It wasn't a particularly large omelette, but I still didn't feel the need to finish it. Will we be back? Probably, once time has passed and we forget how mediocre First Watch is. read more

First Watch is a favorite! I recently enjoyed the Blueberry Lemon Cornbread in another state. When I checked the app, the limited-time Blueberry Lemon Cornbread was still available. Yes, here I come for dine in. I enjoyed my omelette. Hubby liked his breakfast after it was replaced. The fried eggs, sausage and pancakes may have sat under the A/C because it was all cold. I really enjoyed sitting out on the patio. We were waiting on another person to join us . Once that person arrived, our orders were taken. It came out in a decent amount of time. The place was pretty full. The food was really good. My omelette was delicious. However once the food was brought, I didn't see the waitress again and so I ran out of drink. On my last bite she finally came back and asked if everything was all right and if I needed a refill --at that point I didn't. So that was a little disappointing. On 2/14/2026, we arrived at First Watch at 2:20 PM -- just 10 minutes before closing. We honestly weren't sure if we'd be able to dine in. Initially, a team member let us know they were closed and that the grills had been turned off. She kindly said she would check with the kitchen to confirm. While we were waiting, a hostess approached and immediately seated us. I explained that someone was double-checking whether we could even be seated since closing time was so close. There was a bit of confusion for a few minutes regarding whether grill items like pancakes and waffles were still available. We decided to keep it simple and order soup and sandwiches. But before we finalized our order, the original team member came back and let us know the grill was actually still on if we wanted breakfast after all -- which we appreciated. My husband ordered the Monterey Club with tomato basil soup and said it was amazing. I had the Ham and Gruyère Melt with chicken and rice soup. The sandwich was absolutely delicious -- perfectly toasted and flavorful. The soup, in my opinion, was a little mild, but still comforting. What truly made this a 5-star experience was the follow-up. The first young lady returned and introduced herself as Karen, the General Manager. She sincerely apologized for the earlier confusion and graciously provided us with a gift card to come back and experience the restaurant again. The way the situation was handled speaks volumes about the leadership and customer care here. We left feeling valued and appreciated -- especially considering we walked in right before closing. I love breakfast/brunch spots and had wanted to stop by since they opened but it's always so busy! We finally woke up early enough to be the very first customers! The inside is so cute, it's like sitting in a countryside barn but with bright decors and farm house style furniture. I ordered the barbacoa chilaquiles breakfast bowl without beans and added potatoes. Hubby ordered the traditional with breakfast sausage. Food-wise: everything tasted fresh, but the flavors felt shy. I got the Power Wrap, which lived up to the "power" (very wholesome) but not the "wow." I found myself wishing for salt or hot sauce to wake it up. My coworkers ordered a range, the Trifecta, a salad-and-sandwich combo, soup, and bacon. The table verdict: "good," but only one person said they'd come back specifically for it. Cleanliness was... clean-ish. The table looked wiped down, but the seats were still wet when my coworker sat, unexpectedly interactive dining. Consider it the "spa chair" experience, but maybe bring a towel. Not the greatest visit. I was aware that on a holiday it would be busy so I placed my to-go order with that in mind. But it was exceedingly frustrating to see my food/drink sitting in the kitchen for 10 minutes. I brought it up to the hostess and her attitude was very dismissive. It was absolutely SMOTHERED in the apricot jam as was my potatoes since they were in the same box. I don't mind jam but I don't need it all over everything!! I literally had to wipe half of it away. I met one of my friends here for brunch on Tuesday and as always it's packed! People sitting outside and enjoying themselves as well as people eating inside and enjoying themselves and the food! It's enough space for small and big groups! Fresh and clean inside with a full bar! We had the purple haze which is delicious! I make sure to order one of the beauties every time I eat here. The kale tonic is bomb as well! We also had the million dollar bacon... my favorite!!!!!!!! Million dollar potatoes, my other favorite!!!!!! Our waitress, Sheila, was fine and our food was okay. I did like the lemon ricotta pancakes without the cinnamon sugar. I was really unhappy that there were no prices on any coffee beverage items on the menu...none anywhere! Our bill reflected $3.99 per person for the pot of coffee, which the two of us each drank only one cup. They need to put the price on the menu and allow you the option of ordering single cup instead of each person paying for an entire pot of coffee. We came here for breakfast to try some new food and was happy with the choice. We had a party of 6 and when we arrived it was pretty packed but we were seated quickly and took some time to go over the menu which had plenty of choices. For being so busy it wasn't too loud and if you want they have a nice outdoor seating area with fans and heaters. And for the food we tried the carrot cake pancakes and blueberry pancakes which everyone liked and they were pretty big as well. We had 2 orders of eggs Benedict which were really good as well. I can not say enough about how good the food was. The service was also incredible. We went on Saturday, and there was a 30-minute wait, but it was well worth it. The hostess was hilarious and a lot of fun to joke with. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and had comfortable chairs. Our dishes were flavorful and prepared perfectly. When I drove back to get the rest of my food, I was met with a very dismissive attitude from a staff member named Anthony. He was the guy in glasses taking names as you enter the restaurant. ​Instead of an apology for the mistake, he had the nerve to tell me, 'Maybe you didn't grab the other bag,' while pointing to a separate bag with my name on it that had been sitting on the other side of the station. If the pick-up process is meant to be 'help yourself,' that was never made clear--but regardless, the rude attitude when I was just trying to get the food I paid for is unnecessary. We've been to this location once before, though most of our visits are usually to the McDowell location in Avondale. This time, we ordered two identical breakfast meals, which included pancakes that we asked to have served on separate plates. We also added a side of toast. The meal took quite a long time to arrive, and while the server checked in to say it wouldn't be much longer, the food eventually came out missing one pancake and the toast. Unfortunately, both meals were lukewarm at best--closer to cold--so we started eating before they became completely inedible. When another server later brought the missing pancake and toast, I let her know about the cold food and asked if the pancake could be remade. I also requested that the toast be removed from our bill, since we had already eaten the eggs. The server was apologetic, but nothing further was done to address the situation. Sadly, the experience left us disappointed, and we won't be returning to this location again. read more

Called the store and asked them if they could staple the top of the bag or put more tape on it to prevent tampering, but they declined. Horrible place! Went this morning to the one off of Bell in Surprise. Waited along time for table. Put us outside. Table next to us not cleaned up and a bunch of dirty pigeons eating off the plates. Nobody came by to offer us water etc. We were sitting for at least 30 minutes again with nobody coming by our table. To parties walked in after us and both tables got immediate attention. I complained and asked for a manager and nobody came out. After 30 minutes we got up and walked out. Never again will I go there. read more

We've been dining at First Watch for years at different locations in Arizona. The last two times we have been to the Surprise location the food has been well below par. Yesterday I had chimchera steak hash. Looked good on the plate but had very little taste and extremely salty. I think it's time we moved on , there's plenty of alternatives locally.
