I agreed that the sauce & rice were well seasoned. My other friend had the beef pho. She liked it. I thought the beef broth was tasteless. I had the rice vermicelli bowl which was really disappointing. The grilled pork was ground pork formed into blocks, then grilled. The best pho in the city of Surprise? I have to agree! The decor and the ambiance are just right- the calming green color, the dimmed light, the spacious seating area...they even opened up the beautifully decorated private dining room for service. The place was packed on a Friday night, which is a great sign. Then service- the pace was spot on. (Hot take here:) Unlike an authentic Vietnamese restaurant where the server comes to your table 30 seconds after you sat down, we were given ample time to explore the menu and asked questions. I ordered the yellow Thai curry and it honestly gave off frozen-meal vibes. The chicken was cooked separately and added in, which made it incredibly dry -- so dry that I ended up sending it back. The overall flavor and texture just didn't work, and the dish felt more like something reheated than freshly made. What really stood out (in a bad way) is the price. This place is way overpriced for what you're getting. I've had much better Vietnamese food for half the cost, and nothing here justified the high prices. I really enjoyed my pho here! Interestingly, the difference between pricing for a small bowl and a large bowl is only $1. Not sure how different the sizes are from each other because we of course went for a large bowls. The broth was good. They gave more noodles than I would typically like. I was definitely impressed by the amount of meat included. The presentation of the toppings was wonderful with an organized platter of bean sprouts, basil, hoisin sauce, and hot sauce. When we got there around lunch time, we were seated immediately. A couple of family members wanted hot tea, which they didn't have so we ended up getting Thai tea. This was pretty good, not overly sweet. For our meals, we ordered a variety of things including spring rolls for an appetizer, bahn mi, garlic noodles, one of the sizzling platters, etc. I personally had the garlic noodles with lemongrass chicken which I wasn't a fan of. The chicken tasted like it was coated in mostly mayonnaise, and given that it was fried, it didn't have a nice crisp outside. Others mentioned the meat in their dishes was overcooked as well. We dined in last night to celebrate my mom winning a nurses week award. This place was my favorite and my family's. We've always made sure to bring every friend that's visited us in town, here immediately, but it's just not the same. Ever since they took off the poke nachos and the sesame balls from the menu, it hasn't been the same. I started ordering their pho which is really good but they give you the smallest amount of noodles. My kids love their chicken pho and it is great but my daughter always needs to order a second bowl because there's barely any noodles in it. The soup comes out hot so we take the noodles out of the bowl and put it on a plate and she finishes it in just a few bites. She's 5 and never finishes her food anywhere else but they give such little of noodles. Pleaseeee bring back the poke nachos and sesame balls. Every time we have ordered take out it's always phenomenal. The food is always stellar and always delicious. Never had a bad meal ever from here. But i also don't stray far from the usual orders for the shaken beef and noodles Or rice sometimes I'll get it with shrimp. I live in the east valley and with way more Asian options and this one being on the west side always sticks out the most when we think of places to order from. We have a lot of little kids all together between my siblings and I so we can't speak for service much. But it's always been fine when we pick up our food. The shaking beef and shrimp. While the beef was tender, the shrimp were few. For $30, you should get way more. The biggest surprise was that they charged us $6 for a small plate of white rice. It's barely one serving, so we had to request a second plate to finish the entree. Now I know many people don't realize that's crazy expensive for a tiny portion of white rice, I felt taken advantage of. If you order takeout Chinese, they'll load you up with white rice (because it's cheap!). Anyhow, the food was just average, thus the 3 stars. They do need to check in on you more often and for God's sake...don't charge for rice! If you do, you better justify the price by a proportionate portion. My husband and I went for a late lunch/early dinner and I was disappointed to find they did not offer sushi options, so we ordered an appetizer and entrees. The pot stickers were a bit over cooked. The entrees came with broth soup - I was not a fan. The broth was sweet. Our entrees were offered with their own style soy sauce. I asked what ingredients made it their own and found SUGAR was added. I asked for chili oil and mixed it with soy sauce then added it to my plate and the addition enhanced the flavor greatly. Still, the very expensive $$$ meal was not worthy of the cost. The portion size was medium (not large or small). And - it was SWEET! My husband ordered the chicken fried rice; this was good, as expected, yet not mind blowing. Another expensive meal! I liked the decor and location of the restaurant, and the style was inviting. The bar was open and may be a good setting for drinks and appetizers. Our server was great and highly attentive. Overall, this place was ok. My husband said he wouldn't go back. Our food and sprite with tip was $75; based on the food alone I believe we could get the same quality food elsewhere for $35.
