The best pho in the city of Surprise? I have to agree! The decor and the ambiance are just right- the calming green color, the dimmed light, the spacious seating area...they even opened up the beautifully decorated private dining room for service. The place was packed on a Friday night, which is a great sign. Then service- the pace was spot on. (Hot take here:) Unlike an authentic Vietnamese restaurant where the server comes to your table 30 seconds after you sat down, we were given ample time to explore the menu and asked questions. My friend is a usual guest here, so she knew what she wanted. Meanwhile, I was struggling to decide what to get, so I causally asked if they had a special for the night, and they did! The overall flavor and texture just didn't work, and the dish felt more like something reheated than freshly made. What really stood out (in a bad way) is the price. This place is way overpriced for what you're getting. I've had much better Vietnamese food for half the cost, and nothing here justified the high prices. They used to have a huge glass jar filled with Lites, and they would put them in their lycheetini's the best I've ever had! I really enjoyed my pho here! Interestingly, the difference between pricing for a small bowl and a large bowl is only $1. Not sure how different the sizes are from each other because we of course went for a large bowls. The broth was good. They gave more noodles than I would typically like. I was definitely impressed by the amount of meat included. The presentation of the toppings was wonderful with an organized platter of bean sprouts, basil, hoisin sauce, and hot sauce. Unfortunately, our experience at Saigon Kitchen was a bit lack luster. They have great reviews on Yelp, so it may have just been an off day or we ordered the wrong things. When we got there around lunch time, we were seated immediately. A couple of family members wanted hot tea, which they didn't have so we ended up getting Thai tea. This was pretty good, not overly sweet. For our meals, we ordered a variety of things including spring rolls for an appetizer, bahn mi, garlic noodles, one of the sizzling platters, etc. I personally had the garlic noodles with lemongrass chicken which I wasn't a fan of. The chicken tasted like it was coated in mostly mayonnaise, and given that it was fried, it didn't have a nice crisp outside. Others mentioned the meat in their dishes was overcooked as well. Overall, not likely to return personally but glad we tried it. If you're in the area and stop by, try out their fresh spring roll appetizer. That was the best thing we had. read more

When I got there, I was like, whoa, this place is hoppin'! The only available seat in the house was in their lounge, and truth to be told, the lounge was cozy. The bartender slash waiter was friendly and on his game. I'm usually a pho fanatic, but i decided to mix it up. This place was my favorite and my family's. We've always made sure to bring every friend that's visited us in town, here immediately, but it's just not the same. Ever since they took off the poke nachos and the sesame balls from the menu, it hasn't been the same. I started ordering their pho which is really good but they give you the smallest amount of noodles. My kids love their chicken pho and it is great but my daughter always needs to order a second bowl because there's barely any noodles in it. The soup comes out hot so we take the noodles out of the bowl and put it on a plate and she finishes it in just a few bites. She's 5 and never finishes her food anywhere else but they give such little of noodles. Pleaseeee bring back the poke nachos and sesame balls. I have been going to Saigon Kitchen for the last 15 years. Started going when I was still in high school and still enjoy meals here as an adult. We dined in last night to celebrate my mom winning a nurses week award. It had been a few years since we ate here so I honestly didn't know what to expect anymore but the food exceeded all expectations. We got the garlic butter (my favorite) and salt/pepper wings. Wings were juicy and tender and both flavors we got were exceptional. Our table got a variety of entrees ranging from the sizzling platters to their fried rice. Every time we have ordered take out it's always phenomenal. The food is always stellar and always delicious. Never had a bad meal ever from here. But i also don't stray far from the usual orders for the shaken beef and noodles Or rice sometimes I'll get it with shrimp. I live in the east valley and with way more Asian options and this one being on the west side always sticks out the most when we think of places to order from. We have a lot of little kids all together between my siblings and I so we can't speak for service much. But it's always been fine when we pick up our food. I had the rice vermicelli bowl which was really disappointing. The grilled pork was ground pork formed into blocks, then grilled. Not sure what they did with the dressing but it had absolutely no taste. It might as well have been water. This is one of my go to dishes that I have had numerous times, elsewhere. My husband had their rice Lemongrass has very little to possibly no Lemongrass (in flavor nor lemongrass itself). The Pho was very standard, not the worst but .. not good. No chili oil, sauces is served in small cups. It would seem this is catered to Caucasian, not true Vietnamese cuisine. I can't speak to the food or service because I never got seated. I when in on a week night, early around 4:00 pm. I walked in and I only saw two tables taken. I stood at the reception area for a few minutes, until finally the hostess walked over. She asked if I had a reservation, I said "No." She said, "I can't seat you without a reservation." I just looked at her and then looked around the dining room. I said, "There are lots of tables." She said "no exceptions." Her attitude was very rude. We went there on a Sunday early afternoon (1:30pm). We were the only ones there. Our waiter was friendly, but hen disappeared for a while. We ordered like three appetizers and split an entree. The shaking beef and shrimp. While the beef was tender, the shrimp were few. For $30, you should get way more. The biggest surprise was that they charged us $6 for a small plate of white rice. It's barely one serving, so we had to request a second plate to finish the entree. Now I know many people don't realize that's crazy expensive for a tiny portion of white rice, I felt taken advantage of. If you order takeout Chinese, they'll load you up with white rice (because it's cheap!). Anyhow, the food was just average, thus the 3 stars. They do need to check in on you more often and for God's sake...don't charge for rice! If you do, you better justify the price by a proportionate portion.
