Cagney's Kitchen offers solid food with many options. The 7 of us came in for some good dinner, and Cagney's met most of our standards. Our server was tired (given it was 8:00PM) but was very helpful and was willing to do whatever to make us happy. I ordered a medium rare ribeye, and I received a medium ribeye. My dad ordered a medium ribeye, and received a medium rare ribeye. I guess they put our steaks on the wrong plate?! Idk, but it's fine. I like creamy horseradish with my steak, and asked for the ingredients to make it and said I would make it myself, but our server made it for me! That was very kind of her! They have 36 different sides that you can choose from. I got a side salad with ranch and fries. Their salad came with shredded lettuce pieces which was odd and kind of hard to eat. The side house salad just comes with grape tomatoes and purple onions on it. The ranch is nothing special. The fries had nothing wrong with them and hit the spot! Everyone seemed to enjoy their food, which is a good thing and should be the number one goal of a restaurant (and they met it). I can't be too mad at Cagney's for my medium steak. read more

Went with a shooting buddy as we needed to see a gunsmith in Salisbury and he recommended Cagney's for our lunch. Christina was our sever and she kept the beverages refreshed and kept checking with us throughout the meal. Thanks. It was OK. More of a diner than a restaurant, but a very ample menu. Atmosphere was nothing fancy and the locals really like this place. Lots of appetizers that are well known, salads, burgers and a ton of sandwich options, which included subs and wraps. Moving further into the menu were pastas, fish and lots of main entrees. Prices were reasonable. Pizzas, calzones and strombolis covered the Italian part of the menu. Set specials for each day of the week. And a senior's/children's menu. Quite an operation for a small rural town. We liked it. read more

The only reason we bother ordering from the Granite Quarry location is because it's so freaking close to our house. If it wasn't for that sad fact, we would have stopped ordering a long time ago. I think tonight is going to be the last time we give them our business. They left one of the sides off of my order, the rice that came with my dad's meal wasn't cooked properly. And the main portion of his meal didn't seem as though it was prepared properly, he said it didn't taste quite right. These would ordinarily be small issues, but they happen ALL THE TIME. We only order from there every couple of months or so, but in the last couple of years they mess up so often it's ridiculous. The last time we ordered from them, the food was decent, pretty good actually. But that was one time in a string of screw ups. I've worked in several restaurants myself over the years. I know how difficult a Saturday night can be, especially if you're busy. But, it would take maybe 30 seconds, not much longer, to check the boxes/bags of an order to make sure all the parts are there. Cagney's in Granite Quarry better thank their lucky stars that they are at least conveniently located for some of the people in our little town...if it wasn't for that, as far as I'm concerned, they'd have to close down if they screw up everybody else's meals the way they do ours so consistently. read more

Went to Cagney's Kitchen and honestly, it was a letdown. My boyfriend ordered a club sandwich and somehow ended up with skirt steak instead - definitely not what he asked for and he couldn't even finish it. I got a chicken Philly and specifically told the waitress I wanted fries with it, but never got them. The bill came out to $45 for just three items, which is pretty outrageous considering the mix-ups and missing food. Definitely not worth the price or the hassle. Won't be going back. read more

Worst customer service experience I've ever experienced at a Cagneys. I would stay far away from this location. Not only is there pricing not correct and they will try to scam you. I finally stopped in to try it a couple weeks ago. I was leery because like everywhere else you read mixed reviews and I really hated the place that was here before, MnK. I stopped in on a Thursday around 3 and I was the only one in there eating, others were finishing up. I was seated promptly by a very nice waitress who was attentive the whole time, she kept my tea cup full or rather she kept bringing me whole new cups of tea and one thing I hate is running out of my beverage. The special was chicken n dumplings which I love and heard were good and thats the main reason I stopped. I ordered them and the 2 sides they came with and a biscuit. Pretty good deal for $8 something not including the afore mentioned tea. I am very picky about dumplins and these were actually pretty good, something is still just a hair off but I cant place my finger on it. Like there is something in them that doesnt normally belong, like ham or some such. Good still and it sure didnt stop me from eating the whole bowl. And lets talk about that bowl, it is just one size and it is HUGE!!!!! My sides of okra and broccoli casserole were equally delicious and the biscuit also though it was 2 days later before I finally had that for breakfast. I ordered two pieces of cake to go, Banana Pudding cake and Carrot Cake. I was told the owners Mom makes all the desserts and at $5.25 each you do get a huge piece. Sadly, we did not like either cake. The pudding one was almost all gone when I ordered it and our piece was very dry, maybe been in that vision case awhile or too much opening the doors, who knows. Maybe its suppose to be dry. I love nanner pudding but this is the first time I had ever seen it in cake form. Carrot cake was just so dang overly spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg or some such we couldn't eat it. Both could have used more frosting, I like a lot on my cakes and berween layers and these were both skimpy. We will be back for the service and regular food but we will be skipping dessert. Ordered 2 Saturday specials for takeout and neither was correct. Both orders included baked potatoes. when I arrived home and opened the packages neither dinner had a potato. One dinner was substituted with pasta the other the was NO substitute. When I called back I was told the restaurant was out of baked potatoes, at 6:30 on a Saturday night, how could that be especially when all the specials included that item. Anyway no dressing for the salad which unfortunately included an item asked to be left off. When I asked to talk to a manager I was told to hold for just a minute and then a few minutes later was told he had to step out, suspicious? I'm hesitant to ever do reviews on Take out orders, but I think they still deserve a fair shot. We've frequented this restaurant for breakfast numerous times. I've tried numerous things, but I love this order in particular. Farmers Omelet (bacon, sausage, tomatoes, peppers, onions), along with a side of grits, home fries and toast. I've ordered take out from them before and have been let down numerous times with the food quality/packaging. But I have to be honest, even after having less than spectacular times...this keeps me coming back! The only criticism I can give is that I wish their grits were a little more seasoned. Usually have really good food but tonight I ordered their daily special of country style steak and gravy with rice greens fried squash and a "biscuit". Biscuit was extremely hard all the way through. Greens were okay (usually really good). Fried squash was good. Country style steak reminded me of the frozen kind we ate when I was a child. Not good! I think I had a new waitress. She never came back to offer any additional drink. I'm hoping the red velvet cake I took to go makes up for it. read more

Sad to say, Granite Quarry, NC location of Cagney's Kitchen just joined my list of restaurants I will not be visiting again. On 9/5/2021 (Sunday) around 11 AM, we ordered from both the lunch and the breakfast menu. At the time we ordered, we requested that each meal be delivered as soon as it was ready. The waitress stated that they didn't have heat lamps and she would get the meals out as soon as they were in the window. The pancakes wouldn't have melted butter if any had been offered. The smoked sausage was inedible. The eggs were a medium temperature. Breakfast to put it mildly was not hot. The lunch menu choice was chicken tenders and french fries. Might have been room temperature but definitely not served at a food serve safe temperature. Both items appeared to have been repeatedly fried, and not in a good way. I'll guess the items were left to sit on hold in the kitchen for a long period of time. They were definitely not freshly cooked. Why didn't we send the items back? The waitress didn't come back to the table until we were almost done forcing the meal down. Neither of us finished the meal. She asked if we wanted a refill on the water as she laid the ticket on the table. Did I complain to management? No. I'm not that type of customer. I wasn't looking for a free or discounted meal. We wanted hot meals and decent service and received neither. Note to management--invest in plate warmers and heat lamps. Our meals were proof that you are not using either of the items in a meaningful way. If you are holding food in a buffet server, increase the frequency of the temperature checks. We have eaten at Cagney's at least 3 or 4 times (or more) a month, since we first tried it The food is always good and the staff is really friendly and helpful. Their homemade biscuits are wonderful Along with their breakfasts! A comfortable come as you are type of place. read more

The place always looks busy and people have posted good things on Facebook so I was surprised there was not a YELP page?? We came in and had to wait awkwardly in the doorway as no one was there to direct, but there was a sign to wait to be seated and a pad with names. I was thinking do I write our name down or??? After several minutes passed someone came up to greet us and asked how many. We were seated at a table and gave time to look at menu as this was our first time. It is Saturday and they were out of the special, Prime Rib. So we settled on Lasagna and a veggie plate of Broccoli Cassrole, Black Eye Peas and Cabbage. The waitress came back to tell us out of Broccoli Casserole so I choose corn instead. The Lasagna was ok, nothing fantastic to write about. The vegetables were cold. The cabbage was oily and not cooked enough...so yuk I did not eat. The corn was ok...just can corn...meh. The black eyed peas were ok except cold. The waitress was very nice and attentive and this in no way reflects on her great service. **Also the cashier is wearing her mask under her chin like a chin strap (really????) and 90% of the staff have the masks under their nose (yeah that's helpful...NOT!!!) This was our second visit. Our first visit was about a year ago. We weren't impressed but will never forget it. When I went to pay , the amount rang up seemed high. I commented and the cashier said that our entrees had went up by $1.00 each but they hadn't got around to updating the menus. I asked that my bill be adjusted. I had to argue agressively before they would agree. We decided to try them on Saturday evening. For a Saturday, business was slow. We were seated and Waited on promptly. I ordered a sandwich with home chips. Sandwich was ok but you could tell chips were old and cold. My husband ordered chicken Monterrey with collards and macaroni & cheese. The sides were barely warm. The chicken breast was basically room temperature. It was tough. It was obvious that the chicken had been cooked much earlier and it had been placed in oven to melt the cheese on it. We have been steady customers of this Granite Quarry store of Cagney's Kitchen for years and suffered with them through the Covid problems. Their recovery has been a slow death march. We suffered through the wait-staff shortage and calmly allowed more time. For the last month or so, the kitchen has spiraled downward in an ever increasing frenzy. About two weeks ago, the food was so bad that we just decided to avoid eating there again. However, this evening it was just too easy to try on more time. BIG MISTAKE! The food, once again, was cold. We pointed this out to the waitress that the home fried chips weren't cool but cold. She said she would get another order out. 30- minutes later when we were ready to leave she admitted that she could not get any fresh chips. To cut this short, we ended up speaking to the manager. Now we know the problem. He is incapable of running a successful business dealing with people. He has no people skills. He couldn't be bothered to hear what had displeased us but did let us know that it was our fault for arriving at the wrong time. Chips are only cooked every 20 minutes so they didn't have hot chips when we ordered. We had to get cold ones. They were too busy to get new ones out to us. He never realized that he was pushing loyal customers out the door by talking instead of listening. We tipped the stressed waitress heavily and paid the bill. The expressions on the faces of the present staff confirmed that they all agreed on his shortcomings but were helpless. Let's get the good out of the way, the waitress was friendly, nice and apologetic. Now the bad. These is the third time we have visited to get the "special" for the day. We have been twice for the specials on weeknights arriving early (around 5pm) and once on the weekend for prime rib. On all occasions at shorty after 5pm there are no specials to be had and never a baked potato to be had either. I ordered baked potato soup with a salad, I think the soup would have been ok if it had been the least bit hot,i it was lukewarm at best and really what I would call cool. This will be our last trip, three times are enough. The restaurant either has real problems in the kitchen or their management is grossly incompetent. Don't waste your time. read more

Came here first time on a Saturday night. Not very busy so we sat down as soon as we walked in. Shrimp plate and Cheeseburger was ordered. We sat there while 2 other couples came in sat down, ordered , ate and left before we ever got our food !! I asked the waitress several times about our order, and she finally told us they had lost it. I thought ok mistakes happen. We finally got our food and nothing special. Shrimp was ok and fries were only lukewarm. Employees wearing masks below their nose. Great protection . I decided to give it one more try. This time was during midday lunch. Same scenario, sat down, ordered and waited almost 40 minutes to get food. This time I was pissed. Again food not that good and not hot. Cagney's has a restaurant in Lexington that I eat at frequently while playing golf. Great food and attentive staff at that location.
