37. Boiling Mussel
Kijana Q.

Stopped into this spot because me and my partner in crime were hungry after a long day of ocean dwelling. Both being huge fans of seafood and Cajun food, I looked up what was close by on the way home. This spot was small and jam packed busy at almost 9pm when we got there. Moderately decorated but not really Cajun themed 3/5. I ordered mussels and he ordered shrimp, plus some wings on the side. The service was quick, almost too quick, and I felt a bit rushed to order. I'm sure it's because they were packed and were trying to turn as many tables as possible, but it still felt a bit much, service gets a 3.75/5. I ordered my muscles sweet California style and wood ordered his shrimp spicy Cajun. Mine were perfect hard 5/5 for flavor, cook, and presentations. Woods shrimp was a 4.75/5 because it was a bit too spicy. The wings were basic flavor but well cooked, 4/5. Overall I give this place a 4/5

My all time favorite seafood boil place. They are open till 4am so it's a great place for late night munchies. Pro tip if you come after 11pm you get a free pound of any seafood. My go to is also ways one of their combos with sweet California with mild spice. The grilled oysters are always a hit as an appetizer if you are feeling extra hungry. The restaurant is pretty small so I wouldn't recommend coming with a group lager than 4 unless you come during off hours

Cajun Bistro 7 was the most random late-night decision that turned into one of the best food memories in a while. We pulled up around 2:30AM, slightly buzzed and somehow fully committed to a seafood boil in the middle of the night. Honestly? Zero regrets. First of all, the place was surprisingly packed for that hour which immediately made us trust the process. We ordered a huge seafood boil with king crab legs on the side and fried rice, and we completely grubbed out. Everything was buttery, flavorful, messy, spicy, and exactly what you want after a night out. The fried rice was ridiculously good too and somehow became one of the sleeper favorites of the whole meal. Still can't get over the fact they're open until 4AM. We've literally talked about going back multiple times since. Such a clutch late-night spot.

I've came here regularly but the quality was down recently: - The crawfish had less sauce than before, and the garlic noodles were overcooked. - The combination fried rice was kinda wet, it should be drier to get the authentic taste of fried rice. By the way, the service was friendly and fast. The restaurant was clean and had a lot of seats.

The food here is a 10/5. Seriously, I've been eating crawfish regularly in San Jose for over 20 years and have never had a sauce like the Sweet California. It's so unique and addicting with a perfect sweetness to it that isn't overwhelming with a slight creaminess and not as savory as most other seafood boils. The crawfish they use is amazing as well, it must be a different kind from most others because the meat is more tender and sweet. I have no problem sucking the claw meat out where as other restaurants I have to dig inside the claw to pull out the meat. Soooo good and I visit as often as I can. Friendly service. They offer other food options as well like Bun Bo Hue, Bun Rieu, etc, but the seafood boil is so good that's all I ever get here. It's also open till 4am!!! Club and seafood boil after?

My friend and I were sooo excited to come here since we came here before and the food was very good. We came in on Wednesday at around 6pm and there was no wait and only 2 other parties inside, however it did take 40 min for the food to come out. We ordered the sweet California 3 pound combo- it was definitely NOT what we got last time. Instead of a garlic buttery sweet sauce it was just straight up CLUMPS of mayo- I even had to double check with the staff that it was sweet California. Also got the garlic parm noodles and they were overcooked and falling apart. The noodles tasted like they were covered in mayo too. Overall I'm really sad that this was a disappointing experience since we were looking forward to it and it took so long to come out. Not a single customer or food delivery person who came in had their food out in anything close to "on time". They were always told 10 more minutes for 30 to go by. We hate wasting food and this was not a cheap meal. 3lb combo was $2 extra if 2lb were crawfish (which is what we ordered) and we could not finish it. It was truly inedible because it was just clumps of mayo :(

I've been eyeing Cajun Bistro 7 for awhile now. Located in the very busy shopping mall where parking is a headache sometimes. I got a takeout order, but the service was ok - not bad. The decor is simple and modest. They do have several tables that they can moved together if you have a large party of 8+. I do like that they open up til late hours. Garlic Parmesan Noodles (3/5) - They gave a decent portion, which was a plus. The noodles used in my order were Linguine noodles and a bit overcooked. The flavor was mild and bland. Not one of the better tasting garlic noodles I've had. I'll be back to try their other dishes.

love that this spot is open late. we ordered boiled shrimp/mussels in sweet california flavor, garlic butter fried wings, & their parmesan garlic noodle. everything is so fire and hopefully i'll be back soon!

I went here with a group of friends for the first time, after we had a craving for seafood boil. This place offered mussels, crawfish, shrimp, and clams, with 1-pound bowls, 3-pound combos, or 4-pound combos, along with corn, sausage, and potatoes. I ordered a pound of mussels with the Sweet California sauce (Original Louisiana and Lemon Pepper were other options), potatoes, and a side of sticky rice. The sauce was DELICIOUS! I felt like my serving of mussels was very generous, steamy, and flavorful. Service was a bit slow, however, we also did eat-in on a Saturday evening in a full restaurant. I'll definitely be coming back!

Lamb chops and fries 5/5

I love this seafood boil place! I've been on the hunt for a new favorite seafood place and this one is it. I love their fresh seafood taste, especially the combo boil with their Sweet California flavor. It's creamy, not too sweet and has a nice savory kick. My family loves their shaken beef and garlic noodles plate, the lamb chops plate and on a few occasions I've ordered their Bun Rieu and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. I didn't think a place that excelled so well in their seafood boil game would be able to also make delicious soup, but this place nails it! The garlic noodles here are silky and tasty, the meat here is grilled to perfection and the soup is filled with all kinds of delicious morsels like the chunky fried tofu in a rich, flavorful tomato based broth. Their service is quick and friendly, you only need to raise a hand and they're quick to check on you for water refills. The restaurant is a small hole-in-the-wall type of vibe but its charming. They have about several tables and it can get very busy. I always see a ton of people phoning in for pickup orders . I like to make it before the dinner rush because on a typical Thursday night I've heard them quote a 2 hr wait. Bistro 7 shares the parking lot in a very busy shopping plaza so also be prepared to drive around looking for parking.

45. Boiling Shrimp: Sweet California
Rizza V.

Service 2/5: had to ask twice for straws, they forgot about our order of fries so it came when we were almost done with our meal Ambiance 3/5: dirty but homey, no music so it was awkward you can hear people cough and sneeze, appreciated how gloves and napkins were on the table Shrimp spicy sweet california 4/5: creamy, sweet, spicy, tangy, unique, shrimp was plump & cooked well Garlic noodles with shaken beef 4/5: needed more garlic, soy sauce plenty of beef and noodles, big portion Fries with cajun seasoning 2/5: wish they served normal cajun fries, cajun seasoning separate, seasoning hit the back of your throat, fries resembled mcdonalds

Used to be my favorite seafood boil spot because of their Sweet California sauce but they changed the recipe and I'm surprised that not many people have mentioned it. It tastes so heavily of mayonnaise now and has lost that signature Sweet California flavor. Not sure what happened but I noticed this change after they became viral on TikTok.. weird.

Yes it's open late and sometimes they can run out of crawfish but it's sooo good. The place is a little small but it's a great place to go and destroy seafood. Service is nice and the combo gets you corn, sausage, and potato. I almost always get at least 3lbs of crawfish and maybe 1lb of clams and drown the rice in the sauce and you can't go wrong.

Ask the Community - Cajun Bistro 7

Are you guys really open til 4:00am?

Yes, they are open til 4am.

Is there carbs or sugar in the original Louisiana sauce (i.e. flour, corn starch, sugar, etc...)?

I think so, it's spicy sauce with mayo I believe

The seafood was well-seasoned with a nice spicy kick, and our noodles were very garlicky (in a good way). The chicken tenders were also flavorful, but a bit dry (I still like it btw). The only small downside was that the crawfish had a bit of a fishy taste, but it wasn't enough to ruin the meal since the seasoning was still really good. The shrimp, on the other hand, were delicious and cooked perfectly. The restaurant is spacious with plenty of seating, great for groups. It was pretty busy when we arrived, which says a lot about how popular the place is, but we were still able to enjoy our meal comfortably. The service was efficient despite the crowd, we didn't have to wait for too long. Overall, we had a great experience and I'd definitely come back if I'm in the area again!

The garlic fries were cooked to the perfect level of crispiness, while the lobster garlic noodles were flavorful, savory, and packed with garlic goodness. The seafood itself was fresh and good quality, but I found the House Special Mild sauce a little underwhelming. I was hoping for more depth and flavor, but most of what I tasted was a mild kick of heat. While it wasn't bad, it didn't have the rich, buttery, and well-seasoned flavor profile that I typically look for in a seafood boil sauce. Service was great throughout our visit. We were seated promptly, our food arrived quickly, and any requests we had were fulfilled without issue. The staff was attentive and made the dining experience smooth and enjoyable. I also appreciated the restaurant's nautical theme. The decor featured fishing nets, ship-inspired accents, and other sea-themed elements that helped create a fun and immersive atmosphere. Overall, I'm glad we gave this place a try. The garlic noodles and fries were delicious, and the service was excellent. While I would probably choose other seafood boil spots in the future, this was still a solid experience and worth trying at least once.

I usually go to Cajun Bistro for seafood boil, but I find the quality of the seafood there to be inconsistent, which made me want to try a new place. I got the 4lb combo with crawfish (frozen, fresh is $5 extra), shrimp, and clams, including corn, sausages, and potatoes. We also got garlic noodles and a calamari basket with cajun fries. For seafood boil sauce, we opted for the cajun instead of lemon pepper. I wasn't sure if I would finish everything, but it was INHALED. I really like the seafood quality here, but sauce-wise, I prefer Cajun Bistro for the garlic butter sauce. Cap't Loui does not offer that sauce, but it was still delicious overall. Service is timely and our food came fast, so thats a big plus. Only complaint I have here is that I wish there was more sauce in the bowl. The bowl had too much food, so I couldn't dip or soak my seafood in the flavor.

The servers can be extremely rude and for no reason, but I try to be tolerable and understanding. It's no wonder there is such high turnover because I never see the same service staff twice. Anyway, I think these guys recently had a change in ownership because the food tastes better than what I can remember. During our most recent visit, our party of 3 ordered an entire spread of crawfish, clams, shrimp, garlic noodles, raw oysters, fries, etc. and just went in. You can elect for your choice for sauce, and spice level -- and add any preferred extras like corn, sausages, and potatoes. The sauce and flavors have drastically improved compared to previous dine in experiences. This would be a good choice for a Cajun crawfish and seafood boil treat, but I can't stand on the service you'll receive -- hit or miss. Bonus: bring your own seafood dipping sauce. My girl made a spicy tamarind sauce perfect for seafood and I took a bottle with me for dipping.

Holy crap. My friend…read moreand I came here last week to try the crawfish because it was one of the few places around that had fresh crawfish. We didn't like the sauce flavors as much as other places, however the crawfish tasted clean. So we ordered 6 pounds tasting a little bit of each of the different sauces and landed on the one that we liked. We decided to come back tonight with our partners and kids for dinner. There was a misunderstanding between the staff, and it resulted in them charging us for two extra pounds of crawfish. Sidenote, if you buy 5 pounds of crawfish you get 1 pound free. So we ended up ordering 12 pounds of crawfish expecting to pay for 10 pounds. We were charged for 12 pounds of crawfish and for some reason given one free pound of shrimp which is a lesser value. When we let them know that there was discrepancies in our bill, they argued and ultimately made us stay for an extra 20-30 minutes while the owner yelled at everybody (including us). It was an incredibly awful experience. We still tipped the 18% table fee for large parties, but part of me wanted to decline paying for that and just give the waiter cash because we felt bad for him. We had a feeling the owner was going to make him pay somehow. Ultimately, what we think happened: when they gave us our order, it was missing 2 pounds of crawfish so we let them know that the 2 pounds of crawfish were missing and somewhere between telling our waiter and the kitchen, it was misconstrued as we were ordering two more pounds of crawfish. So between that and giving us shrimp "for free" instead of the crawfish for free, our bill was noticeably larger. At one point the owner was claiming we ordered 3lbs of shrimp too. Then realized his own order tickets and receipts did not align on that (we only ordered 1lb Shrimp). In the end, we spent nearly $400 there for dinner and it really felt incredibly ridiculous to have to stand there and argue with the owner as well as watch him just yell at his entire staff over this discrepancy. The first time we came, the owner was not particularly attentive or nice in terms of service, but we just chalked it up to it being an Asian restaurant. We are Asian so we're kind of used to it. But this was next level insane in terms of behavior. I started to get loud with him a little too before I ended up just needing to leave because my kids had to go to bed. I totally get margins aren't great and perhaps he's had issues in the past with customers being shady but that was definitely not the case here and due to this, we won't be back. FOOD: The garlic noodles are good, and the crawfish are clean. The rest is pretty standard (fries) or subpar... like the wings -- they were tiny and stuck together. The calamari was bland and pale. You can order heads or rings but not both together. Glad we didn't get more as it was but great.
