What a wonderful treat! I was visiting friends out in San Jose and we were looking for a Cajun spot. Fortunately, it was open late and was next to some boba as well. We went in at 9 pm on a Friday night with a group of eight of us. Please note that the restaurant is tiny so it did take sometime while we waited for our table, but we did not wait too long. There was plenty of parking spots in the plaza and the restaurant was a little loud, but it was a small place for a bunch of people dining in on a late evening. The service was great. They were checking in whenever we were ready to order and answering all of our questions. Because our group was so large, we did have to squish into a small table, but it did not make the food any less delicious. They had a special where we could choose 4 pounds of any types of shrimp, mussels, crawfish, clam. This was a great deal, and I wish I knew to order more. Once we were finished with this 4 pounds... We ordered some more. I believe we ordered with the Louisiana sauce at medium and it was to die for. We also tried the sweet California, but I thought it was just OK. To be honest, it was a little bit too sweet for me, but everyone's taste differ. We also ordered the basil clams and they were also delicious but they did come pretty late into a meal. My friends that don't eat seafood, enjoyed the lamb chops, the chicken wings, the garlic noodles and some other dishes. All in all, I would definitely recommend coming here. We got garlic noodles and the 4lb combo (2lbs crawfish, 1lb shrimp, 1lb mussels) with medium spice Sweet California sauce. The garlic noodles are very homey and uniquely Vietnamese. They remind me a lot of my mom's cooking. I don't recommend the crawfish right now because they were so small and overcooked. However the shrimp was plump and sweet, so I wish we got more of that instead. There were a bunch of empty shells in our bag because the actual mussels fell out. I really love this sweet California sauce- it's creamy and delicious. I would even try medium since I hardly taste the spice for a mild. The fries and grilled oyster took a while to come out. Stopped into this spot because me and my partner in crime were hungry after a long day of ocean dwelling. Both being huge fans of seafood and Cajun food, I looked up what was close by on the way home. This spot was small and jam packed busy at almost 9pm when we got there. Moderately decorated but not really Cajun themed 3/5. I ordered mussels and he ordered shrimp, plus some wings on the side. The service was quick, almost too quick, and I felt a bit rushed to order. I'm sure it's because they were packed and were trying to turn as many tables as possible, but it still felt a bit much, service gets a 3.75/5. The decor is simple and modest. They do have several tables that they can moved together if you have a large party of 8+. I do like that they open up til late hours. My friend and I were sooo excited to come here since we came here before and the food was very good. We came in on Wednesday at around 6pm and there was no wait and only 2 other parties inside, however it did take 40 min for the food to come out. We ordered the sweet California 3 pound combo- it was definitely NOT what we got last time. We pulled up around 2:30AM, slightly buzzed and somehow fully committed to a seafood boil in the middle of the night. Honestly? Zero regrets. I really enjoy the shrimp and the crawfish here. The crawfish are usually fresh year round, which is uncommon for cajun places. The shrimp are also quite large. You do get less since it's still all by the pound (but that's less pealing!). They have a variety of different sauces here, but my go to is the sweet California sauce. It's creamy, sweet, but also has a nice balance of salt to it. The creaminess alone makes this place stand out from other cajun places, as their sauce only offer the typical cajun/spices. They offer three different spice level, and we tend to get the medium, which is not tooo spicy. Pro tip: we normally ask for our shrimp/cajun in different bags so we can get more sauce. They don't always give a lot of sauce. We also like their corn dish. Can't recall the name right now, but it's chopped up corn with some baby shrimp. This place is also open until 4am, per Yelp! Haven't had food that late, but it's a nice option to the area. Note that everything is made to order so wait times can be long, especially when it's crowded/busy. Parking sucks, but it's manageable. We came here on a whim because the reviews seemed great, but unfortunately our experience was really disappointing. We ordered a few pounds of crawfish, garlic noodles, and bò lúc lắc. It took over an hour just to get the garlic noodles. The bò lúc lắc came out about 10 minutes later, and then we waited another 15 minutes for the crawfish. Altogether, our food took close to 1.5 hours, which is honestly unacceptable for a casual restaurant. You would think crawfish would be one of the quicker dishes to come out. We had originally planned to order even more crawfish afterward so it would come out fresh, but after seeing how long everything was taking, we decided to cancel that idea entirely. To make things worse, the crawfish sauce was overloaded with mayo, which was such an odd combination and not enjoyable at all. The food itself definitely did not justify the long wait. The restaurant felt cramped, outdated, and more like a bar than a place to comfortably eat dinner. The servers were young and seemed overwhelmed or unsure of what was going on most of the time. Meanwhile, they kept seating more tables and taking orders even though the kitchen was clearly struggling to keep up. We even overheard other tables canceling their food because of the wait times. I've tried several seafood boil restaurants around SJ and this is the one that's has stayed consistently good throughout the years. When it is fresh crawfish it's incredible, but even their frozen crawfish I haven't had too much trouble, unlike other restaurants where their frozen crawfish would be super soft and mushy. My go to flavor is there sweet california. I love the crawfish, shrimp, and mussel there. I usually get the combo that comes with corn, potato, and sausage. Along with that, I also enjoy getting the fried calamari, grilled oysters, and garlic noodles. My only issue is sometimes it's not mixed well so there are globs of what I think is mayonnaise or some other white sauce, but if you mix it yourself it should be fine. read more

The service is always great, I especially love the owner of the place, who always throws in extra if you come past 10 or 11 PM! The interior is quite small and no-frills, definitely not fine dining, but the food is affording (and most of the time) good! There are times where the Cajun boil we usually order tastes a little off, as the Sweet California sauce can be inconsistent. However, when it's good... it's GOOD! I definitely appreciate how late into the night they're open and how their customer service is always on point. Be sure to order their cajun boil with Sweet California sauce if you decide to go here! This is my favorite go‑to spot every time I'm in town. You really can't find anything like it anywhere else, and that's exactly why I keep coming back. Sweet California is truly one of a kind, and I always recommend it to friends as a must‑try. My group usually orders the combo with shrimp, crawfish, hot links, corn, and potatoes -- the perfect mix in my opinion. Their grilled oysters and shaken beef are great shareable options too. Service is impressively fast considering how busy they always are. It's definitely a mom‑and‑pop shop, so don't expect fine dining -- just a family making really good food and doing it well.
