Crawfish size variation, the smalls compared to jumbos
    Johnny Q.

I've come here about 4 times now ordering 5+ lbs of crawfish at a time. I would like to think of myself as a crawfish aficionado. The service is quick, I've never had to wait in a long line or that long to receive my order. The store is small, with about 3 2-seater tables, so it's definitely geared towards take out. What I like: - The simplicity and flavor: Only 2 flavors and a couple of options. No frills and focusing on making a few things great instead of having a lot of items that are okay. The Nola flavor is suburb, true crawfish boil flavor, where we primarily have Viet-cajun in the Bay. I eat 4+ lbs by myself without feeling greasy or heavy. - The price: At $10/lb (NOLA) of the time of review, I think it's the cheapest boil crawfish you can find here. What could improve: - Purging: These crawfish have not been washed/purged very well, since they still have the darkness of the mud they come from on their undersides. I typically don't devein my crawfish (I bite and pull the tail out with just my teeth), but I do with these since they have big dark "veins" - Slightly overcooked: Well cooked crawfish are firm and can be pulled out of the shell easily in one piece if you know what youre doing. These tend to stick to the shell a little, which is usually a sign of being overcooked. Probably due to them being premade and sitting in a drawer (which cooks them longer in ambient heat). This slows down my eating and my method which is not preferred :( - People may not like the variation: These are probably field run sacks so they are unsorted by size, which I don't mind, but some people might. You can see the size variation of the smallest to largest crawfish you can find in a bag in my picture. Overall it's still an 8/10 for me, would be a 10/10 if the two bullets above were fixed! Would definitely recommend!

The crawfish here are amazing! You can definitely tell they're imported from Louisiana because they are huge, especially compared to the smaller Sacramento ones you usually see around here. Both the NOLA and Garlic Butter flavors are incredible - I can't decide which I like more. Just a heads up: when you ask for spicy, it is actually spicy! The staff is super friendly, and the prices are so good I really hope they stay this low. I'm already planning my next visit! A quick tip on logistics: the parking lot and the dining area are both very small, so it's not really a date-night spot, and you might want to park a bit further away. Honestly, the best move is to buy in bulk, take it home, and go HAM with some ice-cold beers!

Not bad, Not bad. There's been quite a buzz surrounding Crawfish Bros and being that we have some heavy crawfish eaters in the fam, there wasn't any chance of us not giving Crawfish Bros a try. 1st and foremost, this joint is essentially a take out spot for seafood boil. The menu is pretty straight forward offering: combos, crawfish and shrimp sold by the pound, and a few sides to help round our your order. Sides consist of corn [whole cobs], sausage links [whole, uncut], potatoes, and turkey necks. There are only 2 flavors to choose from: NOLA or GARLIC BUTTER. Shrimp seems to only be available with garlic butter. Our takeout order consisted of: *4lbs NOLA crawfish *4lbs Garlic Butter crawfish *2 sausage links *1lb Shrimp Be advised that there is a service fee that will be automatically added to your tab. I'm not sure if this is strictly set for credit card payments. Food took a bit of time to come out but there staff was working with quite a bit of orders. Orders come out warm IMO. Don't come here expecting piping hot bags with steaming air begging to be released. The live seafood is cooked in the back and then placed in massive metal bowls to be weighed out and bagged. FOOD: The crawfish was legitimately good. Both NOLA and garlic butter flavoring was good but I find garlic butter reigns supreme. The crawdads were massive in size and very fresh. Shrimp was plump and not overcooked. Our entire party did not care for the sausages and at $5 a pop, I would have enjoyed potatoes more. Pricing is a lot more affordable vs the other crawfish eateries. Crawfish Bros is highly recommended when it comes to being a good bang for your buck but the flavorings are absolutely limited. 4/5 stars. I'd easily come back but only wished the food was hotter in temp.

    Nola crawfish and potatoes

Been hearing a lot of hype about this place being affordable crawfish, which is so rare to hear. Service: The owner is friendly and super nice. The whole kitchen and service was run by himself. Please be patient as the service can take some time. Ambiance: The place is clean and small. 3 tables, so be aware about limited seating. I came in on Thursday 1-ish pm, and there was some wait time before ordering. Nola crawfish $9/lb (4/5): Tasted like authentic Louisiana crawfish, and it had a kick (mild-medium spice). Cooked in a broth that's a bit tad too salty. It was so fresh and huge. Garlic butter $11/lb (5/5): This was yummy, definitely preferred this over Nola. I have noticed that these were a little more difficult to crack open than the Nola, as if they're not as fresh. Potatoes $3 (3/5): These were standard potatoes, nothing special. $3 for 3 potatoes tho, that's cheap compared to other spots charging $3 a potato. I would honestly come back again since it's such a bargain. I hope the price can stay affordable over time. I saw they take orders to purchase sacks of live crawfish.

Actually good crawfish. They're massive and fresh and super worth it for the price! $9 /lb for crawfish and it's not just the shell, there meat in the claws. Super homie place and located in a pretty small plaza too. 10/10 would come back again.

I came here with my sister a few days ago and we were shocked by the fair prices and taste. They are also a family owned business :) Taste: We preferred the garlic butter because of how rich and creamy it was. Parking: Small plaza but easy to find parking. Note that the seating is very limited here.

ordered 2 lbs of shrimp, 2 lbs of crawfish and 3 corn and one sausage link the crawfish was very lukewarm. seems like they don't prep it as orders are placed. shrimp was hot, but lacked flavor. crawfish had more flavor/spices. didn't really hit the spot for me. corn just tasted like butter. little to no flavor in the garlic butter. this is very grab and go. they only have 3 tables inside.

    4lbs NOLA style
    Ruby A.

I genuinely loved this place! I ordered 4lbs of NOLA style crawfish and 2 shots of garlic butter on the side for dipping. We took our order to go to enjoy at home. They cook the crawfish perfectly and it had a perfect amount of spice. The crawfish were juicy, and there were a bunch of huge ones, and maybe 2 straight tailed ones (which you should know not to eat crawfish if the tails are straight). Anyways, the guys working the joint are super nice, and are new to the area, so give em some credit. I would recommend this spot to everyone and would be back in a heartbeat if I didn't live so far away!

My picks: - Nola Crawfish - Garlic Butter Shrimp So addicting I could eat 4lbs of crawfish in one sitting and still crave it the next day. First time trying authentic Louisiana style crawfish. I like it because it's much lighter so you need can eat a lott. Their crawfish are big & fresh! Seating is limited so don't come expecting you'll for sure get a table. Bring it home and enjoy! Prices are insanely good IMO. Currently 2 brothers running the show so please be patient as they're doing the best they can! No phone orders right now, but you can call to ask if they're sold out or not. I already know I'll be here every week lol...

    $8lb NOLA Crawfish Special!
    Naomi N.

i tried stopping by on tuesday but they sold out so i came on a saturday afternoon to pick up some of their NOLA crawfish to try! they currently have a $8/lb promotion for their NOLA crawfish! $10/lb for Garlic Butter! $6/lb for raw crawfish if you buy the sack ! This place is more of a grab and go style, when i went in the restaurant was clean and new but i noticed they only had 2-3 tables to eat there so I believe their concept is more of a to go restaurant! Note that NOLA style is different from seafood boil I'm use to here in san jose, they state the difference so make sure you know as well! NOLA: crawfish is cooked in a seasoned broth and served without any additional sauces Garlic Butter: Same as NOLA but tossed in garlic butter sauce after The crawfish were huge! We ordered 10 pounds of NOLA and it was plenty to feed for my party. the crawfish was juicy and flavorful, i would say it has a kick to it! Since they are soft opening, I do want to note that it was a bit saltier than what I'm used to. I'm not sure if it's suppose to be on the saltier side since it's NOLA style but at one point it got pretty salty once it all cooled down and we had to pause on eating to take a break from the salt. If they can adjust it to be a tad bit less saltier or maybe let us adjust the salt levels, it would be perfect! I would definitely order again from here since it's such a good deal for soft opening!

Went here for a quick taste cause heard so much about the original taste of New Orleans. Yes, it's true, taste like how I grew up with. I can't find one that cooks like New Orleans style cause most shops in San Jose cook like Houston style. The crawfish was big not one of those small crawfish. They even sell live crawfish but heard it sold out pretty fast. I guess I will do more cookout at home now. Also like to support a local seafood shop.

Garlic Butter is the way to go!

The garlic fries were cooked to the perfect level of crispiness, while the lobster garlic noodles were flavorful, savory, and packed with garlic goodness. The seafood itself was fresh and good quality, but I found the House Special Mild sauce a little underwhelming. I was hoping for more depth and flavor, but most of what I tasted was a mild kick of heat. While it wasn't bad, it didn't have the rich, buttery, and well-seasoned flavor profile that I typically look for in a seafood boil sauce. Service was great throughout our visit. We were seated promptly, our food arrived quickly, and any requests we had were fulfilled without issue. The staff was attentive and made the dining experience smooth and enjoyable. I also appreciated the restaurant's nautical theme. The decor featured fishing nets, ship-inspired accents, and other sea-themed elements that helped create a fun and immersive atmosphere. Overall, I'm glad we gave this place a try. The garlic noodles and fries were delicious, and the service was excellent. While I would probably choose other seafood boil spots in the future, this was still a solid experience and worth trying at least once.

Since that night, it has become the only seafood boil spot that I consistently come back to. My go-to order is the shrimp and crawfish with their Sweet California sauce, along with a side of garlic noodles. The Sweet California sauce is what keeps me returning. It's not your typical Cajun seafood boil sauce--it has a unique flavor that's completely its own and sets this place apart from every other seafood boil restaurant I've tried. Depending on when you visit, the restaurant can either be packed or nearly empty. It's a smaller space, and large parties tend to come through often, so wait times can vary. One thing to keep in mind is that the host, server, and food runner are often the same person. Because of that, I always try to give them some grace. If you need something, just let them know, and they'll do their best to take care of you as quickly as possible. Don't let the small exterior fool you--this place is absolutely delicious. Whether it's 11 a.m. or 3 a.m., I'll happily find myself back here for another seafood boil.

It took over an hour just to get the garlic noodles. The bò lúc lắc came out about 10 minutes later, and then we waited another 15 minutes for the crawfish. Altogether, our food took close to 1.5 hours, which is honestly unacceptable for a casual restaurant. You would think crawfish would be one of the quicker dishes to come out. We had originally planned to order even more crawfish afterward so it would come out fresh, but after seeing how long everything was taking, we decided to cancel that idea entirely. To make things worse, the crawfish sauce was overloaded with mayo, which was such an odd combination and not enjoyable at all. The food itself definitely did not justify the long wait. The restaurant felt cramped, outdated, and more like a bar than a place to comfortably eat dinner. The servers were young and seemed overwhelmed or unsure of what was going on most of the time. Meanwhile, they kept seating more tables and taking orders even though the kitchen was clearly struggling to keep up. We even overheard other tables canceling their food because of the wait times. Overall, this was not a good experience and definitely not somewhere I would return to. The next day we ended up going to Cap't Louis instead to finally satisfy the crawfish craving.

I was greeted by a really nice young guy (didn't get his name) who handed me a menu to look at. I combed over the menu and decided to order shrimp and added corn, potato, and side of steamed rice. You're able to choose from a variety of sauces and can choose your own spice level. I decided to go with their house sauce which i felt was a fusion of Cajun and garlic butter sauce; with a medium spice level. I do want to add the shrimp doesn't have a set price. The price is dependent on the Market price which turned out to be 15.99 for a pound of shrimp. You don't get to choose headless, the shrimp comes in its full form; which is fine by me. During our most recent visit, our party of 3 ordered an entire spread of crawfish, clams, shrimp, garlic noodles, raw oysters, fries, etc. and just went in. You can elect for your choice for sauce, and spice level -- and add any preferred extras like corn, sausages, and potatoes. The sauce and flavors have drastically improved compared to previous dine in experiences. This would be a good choice for a Cajun crawfish and seafood boil treat, but I can't stand on the service you'll receive -- hit or miss. Bonus: bring your own seafood dipping sauce. My girl made a spicy tamarind sauce perfect for seafood and I took a bottle with me for dipping.

They have a white board near the door that lists the seafood that they're out of for the day, which is helpful to note. Menu and pricing is available through the QR code on the table We ordered 2lbs of shrimp and 1 lb of crawfish in medium spice with the whole shabang to share between 2 people. The seafood boil came out hot and within 10 mins but we felt like it wasn't marinaded into the seafood, potato's and corn enough. Portion and spice wise was perfect though. We were hoping to order garlic noodles but was a little disappointed it wasn't on their menu. Our host was attentive though and came by to check on us and give us more gloves

I was really disappointed with our visit. I haven't been to The Boiling Crab in years--probably 7…read moreyears or more. One reason is that I don't live in the San Jose area anymore, and another is that there are now so many seafood boil spots around since Boiling Crab really started the trend. One positive right away: there was no long wait. We arrived around 8pm and were seated immediately, which was great. I remember the days when we'd have to put our name down and walk around Target while waiting for our table. I do wish they offered combo bags like a lot of other seafood boil places do now, since that's always a hit. Instead, we ordered 3 pounds of shrimp with whole-sha-bang sauce in mild. The shrimp themselves were great--nice and big, not the tiny peanut-sized ones you sometimes get. The flavor was also really good. However, the "mild" tasted much spicier than I remembered. From past visits, mild always had a small kick but was still pretty manageable. This honestly tasted closer to medium. My boyfriend politely asked one of the servers if he could get a small side of garlic butter because the sauce was spicier than expected. She immediately responded that it would be $5 for extra sauce, and the way it was said came off pretty rude. We understand that there's an option to make the bag "extra saucy" for an additional charge, but he wasn't asking for extra sauce for the whole bag--just a small side to balance out the spice. Even a simple response like "I'm sorry it came out spicier than expected" would have gone a long way. I've worked in customer service for over 15 years, and I've always believed in "kill them with kindness." We weren't rude at all--we just mentioned that it seemed spicier than mild. In the end, we decided to just skip the extra sauce. Again, the flavor was still good, but to me this definitely tasted more like medium. When we got our check, a different server asked how everything was. My boyfriend mentioned that the sauce was spicier than mild, and she responded with, "Oh no, I'm sorry it wasn't exactly what you wanted." We told her it wasn't her fault since we had already mentioned it earlier, and she just gave us a sympathetic look. Overall, the food itself was good, and I'd probably give it a 4 for taste, but the lack of customer service knocked the experience down for me. I understand it was later in the evening and they still had a full lobby, but a little kindness and attentiveness would have made a big difference.
