Tried this place for the first time. My partner's second time. He had the shaking beef for the second time. I tried a piece of the beef and it was nice and tender. Very flavorful. I had the claypot catfish and I am coming back. I could have licked that pot! Be careful with the bones, I ate it slowly and savored every morsel. My friend and I came to try out this place for ốc (snails) and snacks. We came in on a Friday night and the restaurant was clean and pretty empty. The service was pretty standard for a Vietnamese restaurant- quick and efficient. The food was okay. We got the oc huong bo toi Canada version since it was recommended. We also got the mussels with green onion, fried calamari, and mango salad. This was how my friend and I rated the dishes: Oc huong (1/5): we love love oc but this oc huong was overly tough and chewy. The garlic butter flavor was good and a little sweet, however our main complaint with this dish would be the broken shells. Every bite we took, we were crunching on mini pieces of shell and it was so unpleasant to the point that we just gave up eating it. Mussels (3/5): pretty basic. Tasted like mussel, not too flavorful and very little green onion. It wasn't tasty, but it wasn't bad either. Fried calamari (4/5): the calamari was crispy and breaded with panko I believe? The sauce that comes with it is creamy and spiced which was nice. Mango salad (4/5): you can't go wrong with mango salad. It was refreshing and light, definitely a nice contrast to the calamari. Overall, some dishes weren't the best while others were better. If I came back, I'd probably try new dishes, but definitely steer clear of the oc huong. read more

I hate leaving not so great reviews. Ugh. We walked in (a party of two) and were told to sit wherever from the guy behind the counter across the restaurant. Tables are already set and have forks, spoons, and what not ready for you. We sat down. Every table has menus already waiting, so we started browsing the menu. My family of 4 came here on a Friday evening, and the restaurant was pretty empty with only a couple of tables occupied besides us. We were told to sit anywhere when we entered, and then the menus and water were brought out to us. I was quite overwhelmed with the menu as there are so many dishes to choose from bot knowing what this restaurant's specialty is. However, the menu has a lot of specialty dishes (do nhau) to pair with drinking, so it may just be their specialty. We ordered the following: 1. Pho Dac Biet: Flavoring is ok and slightly on the sweeter side. 2. Phi Bo vien: Same as above. 3. Hu tieu kho: Since I am eating this dish dry, it comes with a bowl of soup w/ bone on the side. Also, a bottle of their special sauce was provided for you to mix your noodles up. The flavoring of the sauce is pretty light, so I had to add in sriracha and hoisen sauce to enhance the flavor. The vegetables that came with the dish were barely enough for a bite. I had to steal some bean sprouts from my husband and 11yo son's veggie plate for their Pho. 4. Com tam thi nuong: Flavorful and tender marinated prok with grilled prawns and over easy egg. The vegetables on the side were lettuce and tomatoes with picked cabbage. Service is average as we had to raise our hand to get assistance despite the restaurant not being busy. The food taste is average for the dishes we ordered. Went here for my birthday lunch with bestie and she decided to treat me instead. Thanks Bestie!! The place is clean and the staff are nice. This is a Vietnamese restaurant. We ordered 2 types of snails. The tiny one was cooked with coconut milk and boy it's delicious! There's a special way to take out the meat or else you will have a hard time getting it out . The big snail (not in the picture ) was delicious also with sweet and sour from tamarin paste. The mango salad is superb. Fresh and crunchy. The main entree which was seafood hotpot was delicious but a bit too salty for us and the staff add more broth and it worked but still too salty for my liking. The garlic house sauce was tasty, but I wish there was more of it to cover the noodles. They have maybe diced Thai chili peppers in vinegar and red hot sauce from Thai chili peppers. They have hosin sauce as well. The soup was a clear broth with cilantro and a big bone with scraps of meat on it. It was simmered a long time as the bone marrow could easily be scrapped out with your chopstick. Lychee Lily: Barisa's favorite iced tea infused with lychee bits and crystal boba. The black tea was sweetened. I'm not sure if you could adjust, as I ordered it as it normally is. This was refreshing. Honeydew Sea Crema: The honeydew flavoring was artificial. They are a newer Vietnamese restaurant to the neighborhood but I can foresee them becoming a favorite in the area pretty quickly. I have had their seafood hot pot, appetizers, and their dry seafood combo noodles. Everything I have tried from this spot has been on point -- from spices, to freshness of ingredients, all the way to recipes -- these guys are going to be a strong player in the game. Came in with a friend for lunch. Ordered C3 off the menu, which is the pork rice plate. So did my friend. It also came with shrimp, a salad and soup. The flavor of the pork and shrimp was soooo goood. Cooked to perfection. I gave my soup to my friend, I've never really been a soup fan. Service was attentive and prompt. And the decor of the restaurant is really cute. They have some tv's if you wanted to watch a game or something while you dine. Came here to support a local Vietnamese own business and I was not disappointed. The service was amazing! I had a reservation for a party of 20+ people. They rearranged the tables and seated us quickly. I also had a birthday cake and they kept it in their fridge for us. I got the Hu Tieu Mi and the portion was very fair ($15) for the amount of seafood and meat! Just look at the size of that meat bone! The broth was delicious and clean. They gave me extra sauce to put in my Hu Tieu, it felt like a very healthy and comforting meal. I also got snails in this coconut sauce and it was very flavorful. I don't really eat snails that often but it was very fun eat. You would slurp the snail and all of the juices out of the shells. Was a great appetizer! My other friends tried the other stuff on the menu and they said it was pretty good as well (hot pot, rice place, and etc). They also had a drinks menu with a wide selection of milk teas! When it was time for the cake the played a happy birthday song on the screen. They dimmed down the lights and ALL of the employee came out to sing with the cake. I have been here twice within a week. I truly enjoyed both of my visits. I think this is my new go to dry noodle place. They call it Hu Tieu or Mi Dac Biet. They had a soft opening, but trust me this is a legit review. This is not an obligatory review of some new place we just found. This is an amazing dry noodle. Their mi dac biet can be served dry or soupy. I choose dry and so do most people I know. You choose the type of noodles (egg, rice, thin, wide). When you go dry, I highly recommend the following tips for those who can take a little spicy (you'll thank me later): *Put some of their black sauce from the squeeze bottle (it's a sweet/savory flavor soy sauce) *Add lots of pickled jalapeños *Add some red chili to your preference *2-3 spoons of soup into your dry noodle *I like to eat my meat from the bone with my dry noodle while it's still warm What makes their dry noodle special is its high quality ingredients and preparation. You get 2 quail eggs, kidney or heart meat, liver, pork slices, ground pork, perfectly cooked squid and large shrimp. Everything is fresh, and when mixed together with my above tips you'll have a nice contrast of flavors in a decent size bowl of noodles. You want more flavor, squeeze a little more of that sweet/savory sauce. For more spice, add the chili and peppers. Oh I almost forgot how amazing the soup is. I've had places where the soup is too plain or too strong of a flavor. This place knows the right balance. There is also plenty of meat left on the big knuckle bone that comes with the soup. I didn't even touched on the other decent dishes. My other favorite is their pork chops. It comes with grilled shrimp instead of the usual shrimp cake. My daughter loved it. I enjoyed finishing her leftovers. I really hope they keep up the quality. There are lots of TVs which most are cooking shows when I was there. My guess is that the owners are passionate about food. I admire that. They also open late which is rare to find these days post pandemic. I have yet to try their pho, but for dry noodles this is the best in the South Bay. read more

Such a hole in the wall spot and I'm surprised it's not more well known. I've tried lau duoi bo from a few different spots here in the bay, and Aota House does it the best. The broth is rich, flavorful, and hearty. I loved how the pot is loaded with meats , and they don't hold back on the noodles and veggies that is provided for you. To my surprise, there was still so much extra leftovers that I was able to take home too! We came on a weekend and service was super fast and an overall great experience! If you're looking for an oxtail hotpot, you definitely must try Aota's Oxtail hotpot. The broth is too delicious. When it was served, the color was darkish and I thought it would be something weird, but turned out it was so flavorful. The oxtail hotpot came with set of vegetables (mustard vegetables, bean sprouts, japalenos as condiments). They also offer to have noodles to eat with the hotpot too. We chose egg noodle and it goes perfectly. Other than the hotpot, they also have other delicious Vietnamese dishes too like rice plate. We had grilled pork rice plate with broken rice. Kids loved it. The portion was huge too. Enough to share with family of four. We also tried their beef pho and some appetizers. The fish ball was fun to eat with.
