Bò Tái Chanh: Viet Beef Carpaccio ($12)
    Cherylynn N.

Can you easily make Bột Chiên at home? Yes with store bought flour cakes. Does it come out bomb? Not if I'm making it! I found Bột Chiên on Yelp trending as a hot and new business. With French and Chinese influences, Bột Chiên is a Viet street food consisting of crispy flour cakes mixed with eggs and served with crack sauce (soy based). Sadly, it doesn't exist in the city (to my knowledge) and the closest thing is at Red Bowl in Daly City. It's alright but not nearly as good as the ones in E Man Jose. Bột Chiên is located inside the Lion Plaza food court towards the back, near the restrooms. M E N U Specialty - Bột Chiên (flour cakes): Regular, taro, and mozzarella. They also have a handful of fried seafood dishes, bò kho (beef stew), bò tái chanh (beef carpaccio), and papaya salad. Free hot tea. Prices include tax. Cash, Zelle, Venmo, and Cash app are accepted. F O O D * Bò Tái Chanh: Viet Beef Carpaccio ($12): https://tinyurl.com/4xwhjd69 Standard - thin, lean cuts of beef topped with crushed peanuts, red onions, and herbs. Comes undressed with lime and side of punchy nước chấm. * Bột Chiên Khoai Môn: Taro Fried Flour Cakes ($14): https://tinyurl.com/mry9yfxx Great contrasting textures - crunchy-chewy taro flour cakes against the soft eggs and fresh crispness of the shredded green papaya. It was delicious with the savory, sweet, and tangy crack sauce and đồ chua (pickled carrot + daikon). To nitpick, I wish the flour cakes were hot (seemed like it was cooked ahead). Like another reviewer, I found it odd that it's topped with croutons instead of fried pork fat, cost saving measure? S E R V I C E Fast and friendly. Order was ready in about 5 minutes. A M B I A N C E OG food court. You come for the food not the vibes. Restroom requires a code. Overall, tasty bột chiên that's def worth a try when in Lion Plaza!

Found this new spot that recently opened while I was in town visiting a friend. It's tucked away inside the plaza but worth the trip!!! Tons of parking and good location. First time trying Bot Chien fried rice cakes and it was so fresh, fluffy light, and flavorful. Will definitely come back again to this neighborhood gem.

This bột chiến was pretty good but I wish iit had sweet radish like tung kee. I atill think that Thien Long still has the best bot chien in the areas. If I want to drive a little further, I would go to China Chen. This place will do if I'm at Call me Dragon getting my Bò Ne fox and this. Parking isn't an issue cuz there is a huge lot.

This is a new spot located in the food court at lion plaza. They have a variety of appetizers including wings , egg rolls , and known for their bot chien which is kinda like a Vietnamese omelette with taro. I wanted to give this spot a shot yesterday and got the taro bot chien. It was crispy and hot . They also gave me a sauce on the side that was delicious and went perfectly with the omelette. The workers here seem very friendly and answered all the question I had. Can't wait to come back and try other items.

We ordered the Bot Chien Pho Mai and it was really good! Nice dish compared to traditional bot chien. Paired with the papaya salad it's very balanced and super yummy. I will definitely come back!!

Taro bot chien. Soooo crispy and flavorful, pairs well with their housemade sauce.

Tried this place on their grand opening. Never had bot chien before so decided to get the taro bot chien and the egg roll. Will have to say it was DELICIOUS, crispy and flavorful, especially the sauce it came with. The service was great, the food came out in a timely manner considering it is made to order and fried. The restaurant is in the lion plaza, so overall fast casual vibe if you've been before. I will be coming back to try the mozzarella bot chien!

Since that night, it has become the only seafood boil spot that I consistently come back to. My go-to order is the shrimp and crawfish with their Sweet California sauce, along with a side of garlic noodles. The Sweet California sauce is what keeps me returning. It's not your typical Cajun seafood boil sauce--it has a unique flavor that's completely its own and sets this place apart from every other seafood boil restaurant I've tried. Depending on when you visit, the restaurant can either be packed or nearly empty. It's a smaller space, and large parties tend to come through often, so wait times can vary. One thing to keep in mind is that the host, server, and food runner are often the same person. Because of that, I always try to give them some grace. If you need something, just let them know, and they'll do their best to take care of you as quickly as possible. Don't let the small exterior fool you--this place is absolutely delicious. Whether it's 11 a.m. or 3 a.m., I'll happily find myself back here for another seafood boil.

Customer service was definitely lacking. The garlic fries were cooked to the perfect level of crispiness, while the lobster garlic noodles were flavorful, savory, and packed with garlic goodness. The seafood itself was fresh and good quality, but I found the House Special Mild sauce a little underwhelming. I was hoping for more depth and flavor, but most of what I tasted was a mild kick of heat. While it wasn't bad, it didn't have the rich, buttery, and well-seasoned flavor profile that I typically look for in a seafood boil sauce. Service was great throughout our visit. We were seated promptly, our food arrived quickly, and any requests we had were fulfilled without issue. The staff was attentive and made the dining experience smooth and enjoyable. I also appreciated the restaurant's nautical theme. The decor featured fishing nets, ship-inspired accents, and other sea-themed elements that helped create a fun and immersive atmosphere. Overall, I'm glad we gave this place a try. The garlic noodles and fries were delicious, and the service was excellent. While I would probably choose other seafood boil spots in the future, this was still a solid experience and worth trying at least once.

Too bad you can't add to the waitlist beforehand. We ended up getting seated at our table around 7:50pm This location is not as big as the other SJ location but it is slightly less busy than that one since it's further out. They have a white board near the door that lists the seafood that they're out of for the day, which is helpful to note. Menu and pricing is available through the QR code on the table We ordered 2lbs of shrimp and 1 lb of crawfish in medium spice with the whole shabang to share between 2 people. The seafood boil came out hot and within 10 mins but we felt like it wasn't marinaded into the seafood, potato's and corn enough. Portion and spice wise was perfect though. We were hoping to order garlic noodles but was a little disappointed it wasn't on their menu. Our host was attentive though and came by to check on us and give us more gloves

My boyfriend and I came in on a Sunday afternoon for some lunch, and we got a table after waiting about 2-3 minutes. It was pretty busy. We took our time looking at the menu, but not a single team member approached us asking if we were ready to order. I pressed the call server button two times and on the third time, I had to verbally called out someone that we were ready. It's understandable to a certain extent because the restaurant is busy, you'd need to run back and forth, take your time. However, they were sitting more customers down, and forgetting to check on the customers that already sat down. Also, it doesn't help the fact that we were sat in front of the kitchen and in front of the cashier where multiple servers were mostly standing around, so it's unacceptable that no one came to check on us after multiple calls. Fast forward, we ordered, we got our food. The food here is good, and it's actually one of my favorite pho spots in the area. The soup is good and Phở Đặc Biệt is always my go to. At the end, we were talking and eating still and a server just came up to us and dropped the bill without a single word. Not a "whenever you're ready," or anything. We felt disrespected. I've been a server before, and this is just not how you'd treat your customers. Unfortunately I will not be coming back and it's really sad that the food is good but the service is horrible. I strongly encourage management to look into this and make improvements among the staff.
