Experience (4/5 stars): *Food: the coconut milk snail, crab in xo sauce, and crispy toasted catfish, and banh hoi w/ grilled beef were delicious! i'd i had to pick just one fish out of those it'd be the catfish. it was crispy and bones were removed. *Drinks: pennywort with grass jelly & soda chanh hit the spot Overall, it's a yes for me!

Had their Dino Rib with Garlic Noodle, Five Spice Cornish Hen with Garlic Noodles and Banh Xeo Land Nuong. Their Banh Xeo crepe was unique. It was like eating pandan waffle but savory; had coconut flavor and somehow pandan taste too. Crepe had nice texture; was thin and crispy on the edges and outside. It did not have that cornstarch aftertaste nor the wet pancake texture. It came with shrimp and slices of pork along with different herbs (basil, cilantro, parilla, mint) , pickled carrots and lettuce leaves to wrap everything in. The sauce it came with was sweet nuoc mam (fish sauce) but flavored with lemon grass. The mixture of flavors just came together and created a complex taste of sweet, salty, citrusy and umami. BEST banh Xeo I've had and I don't even like banh xeo. The Dino Rib had short rib meat; same meat used in Korean Galbi. The meat was beefy, soy sauce and peppery flavor with a hint of sweet. Good portion of meat in the dish. Garlic noodles were also good; garlicky sweet and salty. The Cornish Hen was a bit dry. It had sweet and five spice flavor. Came with the same the same garlic noodle. Lemon Soda was also good. It tasted better than a regular lemonade. It reminds me of calamansi juice which tasted like lime and orange mixed together. They have both single entrees and food that can be shared. Overall, yummy food, quick service, nice staff, nicely decorated dining room. Must try.

Saw the buzz around this restaurant and decided to stop by Saturday night around 6:00pm for dinner. It was just my husband and I but the restaurant was bustling with large parties. The owner let us know it would be around a 25 min + wait but we ended up waiting for over an hour. I didn't fault him though since it is hard to gauge the flow especially during soft opening. By the time our table was almost ready, he was quoting a 1 + hour wait regardless of party size. Business is good :) The owner was super nice and he let us know he would rush our food order so we wouldn't have to wait longer. He kept his promise! We ordered the beef, calamari, and shrimp table top grill. I love how they marinated the proteins with lemongrass. The raw (veggies) were fresh and the mam nem sauce was heavy on the mam flavor and delicious. ($45) Also got an order of the mango salad with salt/chili grilled squid. So fresh and delicious!! ($25) I also couldn't resist ordering the Hong Kong style salt/pepper/garlic crab fried rice but my eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach! We ended up taking this home for dinner the next night! As you can see by the picture, it was super fresh and flavorful! ($48 seasonal price) Service was absolutely amazing, especially for a viet restaurant (if ya know ya know lol!). Someone was always around if we needed anything and they came to check on us a couple of times. I don't ask for much but appreciate their attentiveness and kindness! They are currently offering 10% off your meal for their opening which was nice. Total with discount and 18% tip =$140. I hope the quality and service stays top notch! I'll be back to try other dishes :)

I had dinner here last Friday with a couple of friends and it was tasty! There was quite a wait when we went, I think it was about 45+ minutes but given it was Friday and dinner time. While waiting for our table, my friends and I looked over the menu and it was very extensive. There were so many dishes we wanted to try. We ordered the following: Food: Mango Salad with Grilled Cuttlefish - 4/5 good amount of cuttlefish and a lot of mango Banh Khot - 5/5 I am surprised by how much I enjoyed the banh khot here. It was crispy yet soft and creamy and had a good size shrimp Salted Egg Spotted Babylonia Snails + Toasted Baguette 2/5 - This was the only dish I did not like. The snails taste frozen as I know you don't get fresh ones here but I did not like the sauce. Snails in Spicy Coconut Sauce 5/5 - My all time favorite snail dish. I will always order this if I see it on the menu. The coconut sauce is on the sweeter side here. Banh Hoi with Bo La Lop 5/5 - I didn't care much for the banh hoi but the bo la lop were flavorful and juicy! Bo Nuong Vi (beef and calamari) - 3/5 - Personally I would not order this at a restaurant but we were with friends who wanted to eat this. The calamari rings made it hard to bite through the spring roll. I prefer thicker strips so we are not overcooking them but again that is my preference. The marinated was nice but this dish was missing the butter. Mam Nam Sauce 5/5 - Let's take a moment to talk about the sauce that was severed with the bo nuong vi. It was perfectly balance, sweet, salty and pungent without being fishy. It taste exactly like how my mom makes her sauce. Very tasty! Drinks: We wanted to order some cocktails but they weren't available during their soft opening so we ordered the following: Pennywort with Coconut Cream - 5/5 Refreshing and the coconut cream adds a layer of deliciousness Sugarcane and Sour Sop - 4/5 Also very refreshing Overall, great restaurant with top service! Probably one of the most attentive service I have from a Vietnamese restaurant and the food came out super fast too! I think this will be added to our restaurant rotation list with the family.

I've been to Lang Nướng three times so far, and each visit has been a great experience. The customer service is excellent, and the staff always make me feel happy and welcome. The food is fresh and delicious, the portions are generous, and they know how to serve their beer ice-cold! I'll definitely be back.

Same owners as Pho 408! The owners are super friendly and came by to chat/check in on us a couple of times. I came by during their soft opening phase and thought the service was decent and the food was delicious! Also, there was a promo for 10% off, so definitely take advantage of that while you can! I had the cha muc boc com chay, oc mong tay nuong bo toi, and bo tom ca nuong. Total was about $100, which I thought was very reasonable consideeing the quality and quantity. I will be back again soon!

Today we had lunch at Làng Nướng, and I have to say... it was one of the BEST lunches we've ever had in San Jose! We ordered: 1) Lobster Garlic Noodles - Mì Xào Tôm Hùm = the best... 2) Gỏi Rau Muống + Xoài + Thịt Bò = the best... 3) Ốc Hấp với chả = rất tuyệt vời. 4) I ordered = Nước Mía + Dừa Tươi = trên cả tuyệt vời. 5) My husband ordered = Nước Mía Rau Má = rất tuyệt vời. 6) Flan = rất ngon. OMG... everything on the table tasted exceptional! Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. I truly have to say, Làng Nướng is one of the BEST Vietnamese restaurants in San Jose. If you live in the Bay Area and haven't tried this restaurant yet, you really should try it at least once. I bet you will definitely be coming back many, many more times! And if you're visiting San Jose for vacation, put Làng Nướng on your list. A wonderful meal here may become one of your favorite food memories from San Jose. But I think there is something even more special behind the delicious food: the owner, Ms. Nguyet. Ms. Nguyet has a very good heart and cooking is truly her passion. You can tell that she doesn't cook simply to run a business, she cooks because she genuinely loves cooking and loves making people happy through her food. She opened this restaurant because of her passion, and you can taste that passion in every dish. She puts her heart into the food she prepares and serves to her customers. And maybe that is the secret: When food is made with passion and served from the heart, you can taste the difference. Thank sooooo much em Nguyệt and the Làng Nướng team, for such a wonderful and memorable lunch. We will definitely be back many more times !

We walked by this restaurant near the claw machines and decided to come back and give it a try. We came for lunch on a Sunday during the World Cup and were seated right away. We were a little surprised there weren't any TVs to watch the games though. The restaurant and menu reminded me of Saigon Kitchen, and I later found out it's owned by the former owner, so I'm guessing they relocated here. They also had a 10% grand opening promo, which was a nice bonus. We ended up ordering way too much food but also finishing it all The space is a little smaller, but it's more modern, and I loved that the tables have built-in BBQ grills in the center. Everything we ordered was delicious! Our absolute favorite was the mango salad topped with fried fish, literally chef's kiss. The salt and pepper squid was also amazing. We also tried one of their most popular dishes, the DIY combo spring rolls with beef, squid, and shrimp, where you cook everything yourself. It was fun, fresh, and so tasty. Overall, everything was flavorful, and we left very satisfied. We'll definitely be back to try more items on the menu!

The whole visit was amazing. The food were delicious and service was very attentive Here were what we ordered: Bò nướng vĩ: 9/10. Cơm lá sen tôm bơ tỏi: 9/10. Gỏi xoài cua lột: 10/10. I love this dish!!!! Mực rang muối: 8.5/10 Ốc len xào dừa: 10/10. Love the sweetness from the coconut sauce.

    Cá nướng da gion

Both food and service are great, a bit of long wait but at the end it's worth. I will definitely come back again to try new dishes. Cơm chiên la sen cua XO sauces & bánh hỏi bo la lot are good. The skin of cá nướng da gion is a bit tough to chew on, not crispy so that is why i gave the restaurant 4 instead of 5.

It's always a good sign of authentic Vietnamese food when I don't quite understand the full menu. It also comes with the whole rice paper wrap setup, where you can grab rice paper and efficiently dip it in water to soften it up. I love that the dipping sauce is in a giant bowl, composed of the classic fish sauce concoction with sugar and some garlic and optional chili. A local friend from San Jose took me here as it's the only place his family ,(originally from Vietnam) will go out to eat. After trying their Bun Moc I see why? Between Saigon and Hanoi, I went on a full-blown bánh cuốn quest, trying different spots almost daily. Street stalls, little hole-in-the-wall shops, famous spots--you name it. At some point I stopped being a tourist and became a rice-roll inspector. So yeah... my standards are unfortunately very high now. The best bánh cuốn I had in Vietnam was paper thin and almost translucent, with this delicate chew that somehow breaks apart and melts in your mouth. That's the texture I'm chasing. Coming back here, the rice sheets were noticeably thicker and didn't have that same delicate texture. They also weren't as fresh and warm as I remembered, which makes a huge difference with bánh cuốn. This is one of those dishes that's at its best when the sheets are freshly steamed and hit your table warm. The meat filling was also underwhelming and not nearly as flavorful or savory as another bánh cuốn spot I've had in San Jose. With a dish this simple, there's nowhere to hide--the rice sheet, filling, freshness and nước mám chấm (fish sauce) all have to work together. It's certainly not bad, and I can understand why people enjoy it. But after eating my way through Saigon and Hanoi in pursuit of the perfect bánh cuốn, this one is kinda meh for me now. My old review gave this place 4 stars. Vietnam ruined me.

We've probably eaten here 50+ times with family and friends, and one thing I can say is that they are 100% consistent. We've never had a bad meal here. There's a great variety of Vietnamese dishes, so everyone can usually find something they like. The chả cá (fish) is one of their popular dishes and a favorite. They also have good chicken phở, broken rice, vermicelli noodles, spring rolls, roll-your-own options, and plenty of soups beyond phở. You can order individual dishes or share family-style, which makes it especially easy when coming with a group. It's very casual, family-friendly, quick, and straightforward--nothing fancy and probably not where I'd choose for a date night. But for a dependable meal with family or friends, it's a great spot. Kids like it, parents like it, and my mom likes it--which says a lot coming from an older Vietnamese person who knows her Vietnamese food! The staff is always efficient and nice, and after all these years, the food remains consistently good. The biggest downside is parking. The entire shopping center has become so busy with restaurants that finding a spot can be overwhelming, especially during peak hours. Also, keep in mind they do not take credit cards. Bring cash, or you can pay electronically through options such as Zelle/Venmo. Overall, this is one of those longtime neighborhood restaurants we keep coming back to because we know exactly what we're going to get: good Vietnamese food, plenty of choices, friendly service, and consistency.

As I got further into the bowl, however, the flavor started to feel flat and lacked the rich, slow-simmered depth I expect from a restaurant that specializes in this dish. It tasted more heavily seasoned than deeply developed, so experienced bún bò Huế fans may find it underwhelming. The meat was also not as tender as I would have liked, and the congealed blood--usually my favorite part--was overcooked and dry rather than smooth and tender. The visible holes suggested it may have been cooked too quickly at too high a temperature. It's not outstanding, but it's definitely enjoyable. Unfortunately, the service ruined the experience.
