I again went to Cajun Catfish yesterday. I again got the Seafood Platter and again, I was very pleased! If you are dining in, when you enter, all you have to do is find your own table! There are two dining areas and you can sit where you like! Once again, I ordered the seafood platter. It comes with only one hush puppy, one stuffed crab, several shrimp, one stuffed shrimp, three catfish fillet, several fried oysters, fries and coleslaw. I normally enjoy some good coleslaw but not when it has too much vinegar added. The coleslaw comes with the meal, but I was hungry and the potato salad looked good so I ordered that as a side. The potato salad was excellent, but like I said, the coleslaw had just a tad bit too much vinegar and I wish I had replaced the coleslaw with the potato salad! All tables have a bowl of peanuts and of course as it seems to be the norm, the peanut shells can be thrown on the floor! They also bring out a bowl of pickle spears and lemon. My waitress made several rounds and was more than polite and helpful! All in all, I seem to always have a good experience when I go there, and will surely return! read more

The food is good. Service sucks! The lady told me she could not change my drink out , because it was full instead of politely pouring half out and honoring my request. Horrible service. She then proceeded to ask what were all 7 of our orders after we called in a order on the phone! That is beyond bad customer service and I will not be coming here anymore. The food is average at best but the biggest problem with this place is that the restaurant is disgusting inside.

Ordered 6 shrimp and 3 fish. Got 3 fish and 3 shrimp. Once I got attention of server brought me other 3 shrimp BUT forgot the cocktail sauce I requested. Sweet tea is very good. Give you a bowl of pickle spears (yummy). Peanuts on table they toss shells in floor. Catfish and shrimp are good. Hush puppies could have been cooked a little longer. A place where locals like to go and they don't have to drive into town or get dressed up. The fish and shrimp are good when you have a craving for it. Everything on the menu is fried, nothing grilled. The service is slow. They don't get in a hurry to get your food to you and they don't try to fancy it up. What you see is what you get. I found this place using Google Maps. Since there were no reviews on Yelp, I decided to try this place based on the rave reviews on Google. The restaurant is a little ways out of town and back away from the road just a bit, in the trees. When I pulled up and saw all the cars in the lot, I knew it was a locals place. Just like Robbie G's, there are baskets of peanuts on every table and shells on the floor. Unlike Robbie G's, the peanuts are not salted, but are still tasty. And unlike Robbie G's, it lacks the loud, packed, fun atmosphere of a bunch of locals having a good time and making noise. As soon I sat down, the waitress brought a bowl full of raw sliced onion, lemon wedges and dill pickle spears to go with whatever I was about to order. I got the large catfish dinner ($9.95) which had 6 pieces of deep-fried catfish, fries, cole slaw and two hush puppies. I was hoping they would have potato salad instead of fries as I hate to have more than two items on my plate be deep-fried, but fries were all they had, so I asked for them extra crispy, which is the only way I'll eat 'em. The dinner was of a decent size for the price and the fries were extra crispy as ordered. But the catfish was disappointing. Up until now, most catfish has tasted the same to me from restaurant to restaurant, but I definitely noticed that the catfish here wasn't as tasty as other places in town. The fish itself was a bit firmer than I'm used to. I'm used to it almost melting in my mouth. Also, the cornmeal breading wasn't seasoned enough and didn't have the crispy crunch that I've come to love in deep-fried catfish. Having tartar sauce on the table just sitting there in a plastic bottle unrefrigerated sketches me out a little bit, but it tasted okay. The coleslaw was pretty heavy on the mayonnaise and lacked color. The hushpuppies were decent, but I'm not a big hushpuppy guy. The waitress was quick and efficient and friendly enough. The lady at the register who took my money never greeted me when I walked up to pay and never made eye contact. Didn't make me feel too welcome there. I want to give this place at least three stars because the food wasn't horrible, so many locals obviously like it, and the service was decent. But I just can't do it. As of late, I've decided that if I won't be going back to a place due to my experience there, I've gotta give it two stars or less and that's the case with Cajun Catfish House. If they had more options such as boiled seafood and gumbo, I might be more open to a return visit, but between their lack of variety and mediocre fish, I'll pass on giving them a second try. read more

This is a locals place and it is family oriented. It is for fried catfish. It is by far our favorite catfish place. My brother and his family always insist on at least one visit here when they come from Dallas. For the money, you cannot find a better place for fried catfish. (If you eat all your catfish, they will bring you more.) No frills, nothing "special", just great catfish. MMMMMMMMMM ... we love it! read more

Very quiet and open dinning area..needs some light music or wall screen TV to have instead of listening to others conversations..only had one lady who was your server,order taker,refills etc..she was already waiting on 3 other tables when we came in, looked as though she could barely get around(limping), she really needed the help..finally after 20 min we got our food..overall it was good but coleslaw looked like wet shredded lettuce,no taste, fries were already cooling off,, prices weren't too bad but they don't need to go up any more(just saying)!, Or I would not have stayed..it's kinda dull feeling atmosphere,maybe cause it had no music or TV or any other sound except ppls voices..lights on note wall need covers cause the bulbs were too bright in your eyes..I give it 3 1/2 stars I suppose.. read more

We arrived about 5pm on a Tue evening and found the place to be a delightful quaint restaurant in the country. The interior was clean and practical and had a nice comfortable atmosphere with bowls of peanuts on the table and shells littered on the floor. The wife and I selected the same seafood platter consisting of 3 fried shrimp, 3 catfish fillets, coleslaw, hush puppies and French fries. The fried shrimp appeared to be prepared frozen fried shrimp, but on the plus side, they were large, butter flied and had the tails on. We preferred whole catfish, but these fillets appeared fresh and were cooked to perfection. The coleslaw was good, but average. The hush puppies had excellent flavor but were a little oily, probably from old oil used in cooking. The French fries were also of the frozen variety but very good. The price of the meal with a drink was average at around $12. They are closed on Sunday and Monday and opened from 10-2pm and 4-9pm the rest of the week. I love Cajun Catfish becasue the fish is not gamey tasting. It is always hot and crispy, not mushy. The service is good. The wait staff is friendly. It's funny that most people will be quick to write a bad review but the people who enjoy something rarely write a good review. It has been a few years since I have been here so will hold this to 4 stars. If it hasn't changed I could go 5 stars. This is a local favorite for catfish. the fillets are, for the most part, thinly cut like I like, do not have that hasty fishy taste and are so well deep fried in fresh grease. Being from the West Coast, Los Angeles area in particular, I enjoy fine dining, which sadly the Alexandria/Pineville is for the most part lacking. This evening we took a friend to dinner & went to the Cajun Catfish House because the restaurant we were headed to was closed. Thanks goodness. We all chose the big platter with generous portions of everything, as well as the appetizer of fried dill pickles. Been such a long time that I have seen oysters that size & with such perfect flavor, also the shrimp. Large frog legs too. The ambience of the restaurant & the service were great as well. When we left, we all agreed that finally we had found a restaurant with upscale food & were pleased with the reasonable prices. We even brought enough home to feed us all day tomorrow!!
